Probably the greatest Kentucky team in their storied history. Maybe one of the greatest college basketball teams of all-time. How many teams can say they won the first 4 NCAA Tournament games each by 20 or more points? That's insane.
Yeah UK 1996 still holds the record for point differential in the NCAA tournament and regular season. UConn this past year had an opportunity to tie or even break it had they beaten San Diego state by atleast 30. 1996 UK is without a doubt the best to ever step on the court in NCAA history.
96-98 was 😊 had very good team know how play together 😊 2012 was good also ! 🙏🏻2024 be like the team 96-98 was ! Just need better defenses then we be good #9🏆24🙏🏻. Go cats ...BBN
Played with 100% pure confidence..!! That team could play some ball.. the fight to win.!! I was just a kid.. but I still remember all them guys.. tough..!!
Would have to agree. I saw this team play at the Metrodome in the sweet 16 and elite 8...Utah (van horn) and Wake (Tim Duncan) were no jokes, and Kentucky playing them made it look like a joke. Best team I have ever seen, live or on TV.
@@troydixon4425 they do, people who lived long enough to witness. UK almost 3 peated in 96-98, hadn't Derek Anderson got hurt they beat Arizona in 97 and that game never even goes to overtime. and that was with the bench from this 96 squad. That would go on to win another championship in 98.
Best college basketball team of all time. PERIOD. The two teams that beat them were in the final four and Kentucky beat them both in that season. I believe their average margin of victory was close to 30 points that season. And let’s not forget against LSU where they put up 86 in the first half
" A hug for the 2 men that are like brothers" LOL You will never hear or see that happen with Cal and Pitino now. Amazing back then we had no idea Cal would be our coach.
Not only our coach but have such a great 10 yr run only to be followed up by a terrible last 4 yrs. Cal had 7 teams to make the elite 8. Out of those 7 teams 1 won the title. If he had gone 3 for 7 he would have been thought of a lot differently.
The 96' Kentucky team had every piece necessary to win the National Championship. They had length, quickness, athleticism, experience, & depth. They were legitimately 11 or 12 deep that year with players coming off the bench. They crashed the boards hard at both ends of the floor, shot the 3-ball and free throws well, but above all they defended like a bunch of rabid dogs that were starving. Whether or not they were the greatest team all-time at Kentucky is debatable, but they were easily the best team that Rick Pitino had during his time at Kentucky.
They were also a team of redemption, The '95 team was good enough to win it all, They carried that Carolina loss with them all the way to the Meadowlands.
Easily one if the best championship teams assembled over the past 50 yrs. This team had experience and young talent that bought in to a team concept and played so hard for each other. Thats why they were the best. Cal's UMASS team was great the whole yr. Those two teams should have been on the opposite side of the brackets so they would have played for the title.
To condition myself: I am now 31 and watch coll. bball more than just about anyone and go to games all over (went to wisc and marquette) My mom (huge gopher fan) took me to the sweet 16 and elite 8 ganes in MN. I have never seen a better team live or in tv than this 96 Kentucky team. I hate Kentucky, but what a treat it wasto watch this team. Unreal. The ball movement, the presure, the shooting....unmatched.
this team beat every team it played. (split umass and miss st) both of their L's made the final 4. the 3 teams over the next yrs (the underclassmen) won runner -up (in ot) 97, won the Ncaa again in 98, made the elite 8 in 99. THE BEST BASKETBALL TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HATE ALL U NEED BUT NO DOUBT!!!
People forget this Kentucky team couldn’t blow you away really fast. I loved to see them play. Also one of best college teams in college basketball history.
I think we lost 1 game in the regular season that year and maybe we lost the SEC Championship game I’m not sure. But this was by far the best college team I have ever seen to this day.
This is still the best college team I've seen for a full season. I've seen highlights of some other tremendous teams, but this one I saw first hand and was so loaded they were destined to win it all. Too bad the committee fucked up and had #1 & #2 (clearly the best two teams) meet in the semifinal instead of the final. Some say Michigan w/ Webber & co., but they never won it all. UNLV was great, but not near as deep and loaded. This past season's UK team may be #2.
Looking at Pitino in this video brings some clarity as to why we hate him so much. Dude was the best coach in CBB and could've won several more championships while creating a dynasty to rival that of Coach K. His fall(s) from grace are a huge slap in the face for pretty much everyone tied to the state of Kentucky. Definitely a lesson on the price of greed.
Yes, How dare he pursue his dream!! He should have just stayed where we wanted him to and not follow what he wanted to do. It's a lesson that you should just do what other people want you to do for them and ignore your own wants and desires, even if it is your life. And Damnit, why did Calipari leave Umass when they liked him so much there, or Memphis where they loved him? He was so greedy deciding to come to UK!
@TomWatsonB1 I use to think this was the best team but I remember watching the 94 and 95 arkansas razorbacks and I think they could rival this you to think when arkansas won they was freshmen and sophomores when kentucky won they were juniors and seniors and arkansas jive had kentucky number go on youtube and type 1994 arkansas razorbacks there a guy has channel name is twarmachine2013 click on his channel go to his playlist arkansas basketball he has all razorbacks ncaa tourney games from94@95
everybody brings up the ucla teams from woodens era but there is a documentry out there asking the questions that we all know the answers to was ucla paying players back then and the answer is oh yeah they were and the ncaa knew about it and did nothing to stop it
😭 naw they was good but they wouldn't touch this squad. Easily the best Team in NCAA history. And even better than any modern Calipari team at Kentucky. The 95-6 Kentucky team was the best team on the best school in College basketball history.
UNLV was spectacular, but UK was four men deeper than those teams. UK would have eventually worn them down with the best defense I've ever seen in history of NCAA.
Probably the greatest Kentucky team in their storied history. Maybe one of the greatest college basketball teams of all-time. How many teams can say they won the first 4 NCAA Tournament games each by 20 or more points? That's insane.
UConn 2023
Yeah UK 1996 still holds the record for point differential in the NCAA tournament and regular season. UConn this past year had an opportunity to tie or even break it had they beaten San Diego state by atleast 30. 1996 UK is without a doubt the best to ever step on the court in NCAA history.

Not probably, the best team !! 1996 go big blue
Unquestionably, the 96 team was the greatest college basketball team ever assembled.
Why in the hell does nobody talk about this team?
@@troydixon4425 they do, people who lived long enough to witness. UK almost 3 peated in 96-98, hadn't Derek Anderson got hurt they beat Arizona in 97 and that game never even goes to overtime. and that was with the bench from this 96 squad. That would go on to win another championship in 98.
They won to his baby sister
One of the greatest single season NCAA Men’s Basketball teams in modern history.
And this team is so great that it keeps giving back to the university and state. I love having Mark Pope leading the program, now.
one of the best teams ever! 9 pros off tht team! no team playing now could compete with these kats!
The 76-77 UNLV running rebels had 7 future NBA ,the 1988 Michigan Wolverines had 6 future NBA.
Best college basketball team of all time. PERIOD. The two teams that beat them were in the final four and Kentucky beat them both in that season. I believe their average margin of victory was close to 30 points that season. And let’s not forget against LSU where they put up 86 in the first half
This has to be the team with the most future pros on it.
My fav uk team ever...
Best team ever

Truly the greatest team of all time. Awesome in all facets of the game. Confident and in control. (I'm not a UK fan)
Agree
The iconic shot of Coach K wearing that UK hat in the audience is golden
To condition myself: I am now 31 and watch coll. bball more than just about anyone and go to games all over (went to wisc and marquette) My mom (huge gopher fan) took me to the sweet 16 and elite 8 ganes in MN. 96 is the best college team period.
Really a Golden Era of talent and coaching. Set the tone for two decades.
That part.
One of the best I've ever seen
What impressed me is the caliber of teams they beat- Utah, Wake Forest, UMass. They were high-caliber teams in their own right.
I was 11 year old when they won it this year 😊 BBN now im 39. 😮wow time flys so fast 😢 😅😂 lets go cats BBN .... Hope 🙏🏻#9🏆2024..!!
The GREATEST COLLEGE TEAM of ALL TIME!!
this team beat every team it played. (split umass and miss st) both of their L's made the final 4.

THE BEST BASKETBALL TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HATE ALL U NEED BUT NO DOUBT!!!
Welcome home Mark Pope!
These dudes were nice. They even had denim unis..
in pope we trust
People forget this Kentucky team couldn’t blow you away really fast. I loved to see them play. Also one of best college teams in college basketball history.
I think we lost 1 game in the regular season that year and maybe we lost the SEC Championship game I’m not sure. But this was by far the best college team I have ever seen to this day.
As a Kentucky kid, this team is my idea of Heaven. Where this team stayed together and played together forever.
Ranked like 11th all time. Can you believe this shiz?
96 was deff our best year
Greatest NCAA tournament ever 💯
Until I see someone better, I'll maintain that that is the greatest college basketball team in history. Just an absolutely DEVASTATING machine.
That Wake Forest team they beat in Elite 8 was no slouch. They could have made the Final 4 in any other region.
Seeing the score a few times would be nice!
And just like Friday Cal had no answer, his coaching hasn’t changed in 30 years!!! Pitiful
best college team ever
Can anyone please upload the full '96 championship game?
The scary part was that Scott Padgett was academically ineligible! He would return to help lead Kentucky to a title in '98.
This is still the best college team I've seen for a full season. I've seen highlights of some other tremendous teams, but this one I saw first hand and was so loaded they were destined to win it all. This team would beat the current undefeated team by 20 easy
0:28 Mr. Kentucky himself....

DENIM!!!
that team toyed with other teams GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!!!
thought i was watching nba for awhile lol
Is that Calipari at 5:33?
15jumpmaster yeah
Had no idea Antoine Walker could Dunk 😮. Just remember him doing nothing but shooting 3pt shots flat footed in Boston
Is that Ryan Lemond talking at 1:30?
Sounds like it.
I think the first UNLV team that won the National championship was better than this team. LJ, Stacey Augmon, Anderson Hunt, Greg Anthony.
I miss the defensive intensity they brought
@TomWatsonB1 I use to think this was the best team but I remember watching the 94 and 95 arkansas razorbacks and I think they could rival this you to think when arkansas won they was freshmen and sophomores when kentucky won they were juniors and seniors and arkansas jive had kentucky number go on youtube and type 1994 arkansas razorbacks there a guy has channel name is twarmachine2013 click on his channel go to his playlist arkansas basketball he has all razorbacks ncaa tourney games from94@95
my stepmother used to play for England female basketball
At 7:48 Holy shit..... My eyes are burning 🔥 Scrub that horrible image from the internet!!!!!
96 Team is the best Kentucky Team ever!!!!
They played defense almost better than they played offense.
oh please they had 5 or 6 tops on this team and they weren't exactly hall of famers
everybody brings up the ucla teams from woodens era but there is a documentry out there asking the questions that we all know the answers to was ucla paying players back then and the answer is oh yeah they were and the ncaa knew about it and did nothing to stop it
Then my friend, it's time to find a new video to troll.
I came here to watch San Jose State lol
Team had 9 pros
5:33
@whiteboy1815 too bad miss state couldn't have faced them in the finals too
lol forgot all about my nigga tony delk .
Tony Delk was Freaking Awesome The 16th pick but he Didn't pan out in the NBA.
That 89-92 unlv teams would have wrecked them
😭 naw they was good but they wouldn't touch this squad.
Those UNLV teams might win 2 out of 10 against the 96 UK team. The gulf between them is huge.
