WLEX-TV (Lexington, KY) LEX 18 News coverage of the death of legendary University of Kentucky sports broadcaster Cawood Ledford (aired September 5, 2001)
As a kid growing up in Kentucky Cawood was bigger than life. He got to sit Courtside, riggt next to the KATS!!!! THE VOICE OF YOUR KENTUCKY WILDCATS RADIO STATIONS!!!!!! Told it how it was! If Kentucky was playing bad, he would tell you Kentucky was playing bad. Never pulled no punches. What I remember most, was how he could call the game, and it was like you where in the stands watching it live. Never b forgotten in Kentucky!!!!! I tell my grand kids bout cawood. Best 🏀 announcer eve!!!!!
Caywood Ledford began broadcasting Kentucky Wildcat basketball games in 1953 - not '63. Don't know how the reporter in a pre-recorded segment, could make such a mistake.
We turned the radio up and the tv volume down and hoped for close synchronization of the two. RIP Mr Ledford.
He said it best, for those who traveled down that glory road with me my eternal thanks! Enough said!!!!
❤the best

The memorial service that they mentioned for Cawood had to be postponed as a result of the 9/11 attacks that happened six days later.
