One of my fav race. I like the feudal and knight system,to go crusade. Their cavalry and heroes. My fav character is Louen and I like to collect all lords with him.
Bretonnia campaigns are one of the main reasons I keep coming back to this game
My first campaign was Repanse, knights errant spam can take care of any undead faction early game. Very good faction
I have an issue with the confederation… spending research time on dead factions is just terrible
late game brettonia absolutely slaps the empire late game
Yet to see this the range an fire power of empires straight stops the French. Plus Franz is just better

Bretonnia is better under the Fay Enchantress than other factions. And is even better with soldiers of Bretonnia mod, adding men at arm archers and dismount knights.
Just playing Louen in the Old world mod. Since I saw you playing Belegar, I had to switch IE to that map.
Can't agree more with your points. It's funny how latest SFO version not only fixes all the issues with roster (very much needed ranged support and infantry line in late game, aka tier 3 and 4 archers and foot knights), faction mechanics (chivalry now matters a lot and acts more like a currency and you get late game scaling) and balance (why there are no unit caps in the base game is a mystery), but also manages to flash out the faction's identity with distinct factions. Non the less, even vanilla faction is very enjoyable experience.
i disagree about the siege engines I think that the only reasons to have them in your Army is if you dont have another unit with siege attacker to initiate a settlement battle immediately without wasting turns building rams or towers, and secondly to make the enemy charge you in field battles. in most seiges there are trees that you can hide units in, put all of your land units in there and put your flying units across the map. the ai will deploy against the flying units your units will charge from cover and attack an undefended gate. your flying units can traverse the map at will and if necessary delay the enemies repositioning units while your army6 breaches the city unchallenged.
I wish the chivalry was a resource we manage, all their mechanics are pretty much passive.

i actually think the vow systems is one of the best systems in the game.
the reason why it doesn't work however is 2 fold:
1) most importantly they are the only race with such rough penalty which gives it imbalance
2) some especially the latest one is kinda to specific, would make more sense if you would unlock every level with every say 10 levels on the lord. then the money penalty get's removed and you can still get the character specific bonus when you completed said vow

Most people still dont know how to use men at arm units in this game. HINT* They dont exist to defeat other units.
sure they are a moveblock. but ofc questing knights do the same while killing stuff and being more mobile. so you take men at arms, when you can't afford questors (either because you don't have them or they are to expensive for your commander)
@@calronkeltaran493 bud I don't even use Questing Knights or Grail Knight's I also don't use anything beyond men at arms with shields even into the late game. Bretonnia has a very Specific play style that makes it's units very effective. Most people don't know how to play them and try to use men at Arms like regular infantry when they are nothing more than a meat wall to protect archers, trebuchet, and casters.
I know they are good, because i don't really have a choice

It's pretty fun, as long as you run with tons of cavalry and later normalish armies with siege units
Being a high elf main its what i appreciate most because at least high elf cavalry is nearly as bad as empire's imo
I would play as Repanse first, you can have a safe haven there unlike Leon leonceuor who often gets visited by the northern chaos neighbors like be'lakor and the pesky norscans
As fun level to play as i think they are actually on the top half.

i would disagree btw with repanse, i would put the fey enchantress as number 1 to tart as because higher replentishment + 10 ore available peseant units which really helps the early game.
in that case you do need to rush grom though
Their roster sucks, compare their units with Kislev and Cathay. Bretonnia is just boring and uninspiring so no one is interested.
