Family always first so no worries on that count. Yes I would like to see the airplane pics and your thought, shooting method. Finally I enjoyed your challenge to do motion blur. I liked how you walked through the selection process. Thales care.
Steve you always know how to challenge your audience, Thanks for sharing the concepts on blurred motion photography….I tried it recently while in Yellowstone back in January and now with you showing how many shots you took and only grabbed one good one I don’t feel bad at all by only getting one good shot myself! (PS: would love to see the Blue Angles shots)
Filter wrench is the correct term. I can also suggest rubber bands or rubber strips. Make sure you're gripping the filter evenly around its circumference! Using only 2 fingers, or fingers/palm opposite each other means the filter will deform and "dig into" the lens, making removal more difficult.
Hey Steve! Great video. Can you consider making a video on tips/recommendations when traveling with camera equipment on a plane. What are your go to essentials, etc.
Really love these Steve. I have seen many of images that you had tried and these quickly become one of your awesome signature/style IMHO. They are very inspiring....
I live in Pensacola, home of the Blue Angels, and find bird photography a great way to keep my photographic eye sharp for the Blues when they perform. I'm looking forward to seeing images from your trip to Africa.
Oh yes absolutely for other styles (subjects) of photography! Very pleased to hear you were able to photograph the Blue Angels. I live only about 2 hours from the facility and have spent time there as well. Looking forward to seeing your images of that shoot.
Another cool vlog. While your photos are obviously stellar, I must say I thoroughly enjoy your wildlife video clips. It's always great quality and very interesting. Like a documentary. I always wish for more.... :)
Spectacular photos, fun to join ya! Share the airplane photos, a lot of us don't have a 'specialty' area and we shoot whatever we manage to seek out. Thanks so much!!!
Love love how you push yourself to try something different. Also please share your blue angles photographs!! I’m planning on turning my camera to the thunderbirds when they come to my town in June!
When the birds hide for the summer aviation photography fills the void,we are fortunate to have 6 air shows this summer plus spotting is a fun way to sharpen your skills. As far as your channel nature first and foremost.👍
Great set of photos.👍👍 I have to admit the blue on the Brant's cormorant!!!! Wow! Birds fly, planes fly...I'm in. It's not unusual for me to turn my lens to the occasional passing plane or helicopter.
Great stuff. Great patience also required in ultimately acquiring a keeper. Blue Angles? Yeah, bring'em on. They are just another quickly moving colorful bird........ sort of. I've taken my share of Air Force Thunderbird shots at AF Academy graduations here in Colorado. It's all fun and satisfying. Keep'em come'n!
I would love to see your work with aviation. I am primarily an aviation photographer who watched wild life videos for focus and technique tips. I also shoot birds when I can.
Another very interesting video, Steve! Arthur Morris introduced me to that technique a few years ago, but I haven’t tried it yet! Your video encourages me to experiment with a range of shutter speeds.
Please show the Blue Angel clip, never tire of your stuff. Also, regarding the Z9, please talk more about the mechanics of your focusing modes and ones you use. Thanks.
Hello Steve! I absolutely adore your work. I wanted to see if you could help me out. I currently have a Nikon d5600 and I’m looking to really just UP my camera gear. I would love to upgrade. I unfortunately cannot afford anything very very expensive at this time. But still wanted to know if you have any suggestions?
Where have those filter wrenches been all this time? I don't know how many filters I 've destroyed trying to get them off! Thanks for sharing about those! Loved the animal footage. Looking forward to your next dose of inspiration.
Bring on the planes! Can’t live on landscapes and animals alone 😀. Do you save only the keepers or most everything? Looking forward to seeing your Africa portfolio.
I will delete most of the photos taken that day, keeping just the ones that have potential… And you can see my Africa photos on Instagram @stevemattheis I have been posting them for a couple of weeks now. Check it out!
Excellent video. Was the video work of the birds done with the Z9 as well? Whatever camera, excellent tracking on them! I'm considering the z9 to be both my video and stills camera instead of carrying two with me all the time.
Great video Steve and something I will definitely try more of. I love those dreamy shots. Can I ask what lens hood that was you were using on the 100-400? Cheers, Brett.
I’m still sorting out what to set my lens function buttons for on my 100-400 for wildlife purposes. Would be interested in what you use and think. I’m just sorting through some low shutter geese shots I took this morning so your feature is timely. Thanks.
I really like a lot of these images, Steve. Very painterly and artistic. Question: Did you have VR turned off for these slow shutter speed panning shots, or turned on? If on, which setting? Thanks!
@@SteveMattheis Interesting! I have been using a Galaxy 7 Plus with Lightroom mobile. Gets me 90%. Can't get the focus stacking or stiching, but for cutting through the high volume of photos and typical processing, it is highly convenient. I don't do much with video, but, it is satisfactory for what I do. I would be interested to see how the IPad compares.
A very different take on wildlife photography....I like it !
Yes Steve, I would like to hear your thoughts on photographing aircraft, and also see your Blue Angels photos!
Steve this is an awesome video on the concept of motion blur! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, Blue Angels!! They’re just really fast birds!
That Pelican shot small in frame is sensational!
Family always first so no worries on that count. Yes I would like to see the airplane pics and your thought, shooting method. Finally I enjoyed your challenge to do motion blur. I liked how you walked through the selection process. Thales care.

Honestly some jet shots would be petty sweet. Those are some awesome planes

Interesting video Steve. Thanks for sharing.
A BIG YES on airplane video!
The Blue Angles are my home boys, would love the photos. Would love the plane shots.
Your take on plane photography is always welcome. Plus it’s more content, may not get you the same views but I’ll take it!!!
Hey Steve! Great video. Can you consider making a video on tips/recommendations when traveling with camera equipment on a plane. What are your go to essentials, etc.

Wow!!! Incredible shots Steve. You just gave me a new assignment to work on for a couple of months. Thanks much. Steve.
Thanks for sharing your hit ratio. I was starting to think mine was really bad but actually was more in line with yours. Great shots.
These are simply gorgeous and inspiring!! I have a new project now :)
Nice film Steve. You have inspired me. I am going to try out motion blur with birds in flight today.
That was fun! Thank you.
I need to try slow shutter on the Arctic Terns here in ALASKA this summer. Great video
Man, I have to say the combination of blur .background colors and cropping really did the job Steve thanks for posting have a great weekend.
Yes photographing airplanes is also an art. I would love to see your photos.

Also an elastic band to remove a filter is very useful.
Definitely share the Blu Angels and aircraft photo tips!
Love this. Really cool.

Thanks!
Really nice Steve! Looks like beautiful paintings
Blue Angels rocks too! 😎
I’d love to see Blue Angel pics it’s always good to have a change once in awhile when the opportunity arises.
Spectacular photos, fun to join ya! Share the airplane photos, a lot of us don't have a 'specialty' area and we shoot whatever we manage to seek out. Thanks so much!!!
Would definitely love to see your plane photos.
Fun stuff to try! I really liked 3 or 4 of those!
Another great video Steve. I'm heading up to Jackson Sunday. Gonna try my luck with the Great Gray again. Hope to see you out there.
Good luck out there! I haven’t been getting out at all, still playing catch-up…
What a cool effect!
Love love how you push yourself to try something different. Also please share your blue angles photographs!! I’m planning on turning my camera to the thunderbirds when they come to my town in June!
Reminds me of my Navy days in San Diego. Spent a lot of free time up near La Jolla. Pelicans are my favorites!
Such a great place …
Brilliant video ad usual. Plus would love to see a video on you shooting the planes. Just do it for me pweeeeease 😂😂😂

Nice work if I have to pick a favorite I'm going with 20:20 as that print would go on the wall.
Too much life sure beats not enough 😉 Superb results as always.
Good point…
Great video Steve, some really cool images 👍
Great set of photos.👍👍 I have to admit the blue on the Brant's cormorant!!!! Wow!

Didn't think I'd like these but they are really good 🙂

Yeah buddy, good to hear from you! Get out there and give it a try👍

Hey Steve, great work as always!! I'd love to see a post-processing workflow video from you sometime...thanks!!
Yes airplanes, whatever, it's interesting to see someone else's approach to different subjects. I'd like to see it.
I really really like your videos and your natural being! Hope you produce more videos in shorter time. 😅
Greetings from Germany!
the one at 17:38 where you get two sets of wings kind of thing is pretty cool looking.

Airplanes, hell yeah
I shoot several airshows a year so I’d love to hear your take on it.
Excellent video. Was the video work of the birds done with the Z9 as well? Whatever camera, excellent tracking on them! I'm considering the z9 to be both my video and stills camera instead of carrying two with me all the time.
Yessir.
very cool
Please Do a video on the blue angels.
Hello Steve, I always watch your videos, where can I see the photos of planes? greetings from Argentina ! Carlos

👍👍👍 Steve
Great image
Would love to see airplane shots and your settings.
Great video Steve and something I will definitely try more of. I love those dreamy shots.
Can I ask what lens hood that was you were using on the 100-400?
Cheers, Brett.
Mamiya M77 no. 2

I can’t think of anything either. So I just set them to ‘off’…
I really like a lot of these images, Steve. Very painterly and artistic. Question: Did you have VR turned off for these slow shutter speed panning shots, or turned on? If on, which setting? Thanks!
VR was on for these. Honestly I haven’t tried with the VR off but maybe I should…
I also photograph the Blue Angels. Any thought would be appreciated.
I'd be interested in airplane photos.
Yes , interested in airplane photos .. plz . Thx
Yes, i love airplane photography. Do the video.
Aviation is what made me interested in photography at about the age of birth. Maybe it really was seven…
What tablet device are you using and do you process your photos with it?
iPad. I just started using it to process photos - I’m planning on making a video about that too (once I find the time!)…

I think I would’ve switched to taking pics of the surfer’s.
Unfortunately they weren’t exactly ripping it up out there. Pretty mellow that day…
I can see you do not have sony, and neither do i
Nice images, but all I really needed was the last minute of the video. Sharpen your editing skills and eliminate extraneous material and verbiage.
