great video, with very nice images. it shows that you don't need tons of money and a full frame camera system to shoot beautiful images. I enjoyed it.❤👍
This was really great. Hey PetaPixel, please give us more of this type of "in the field" videos from pro's like Tiffany and Arthur. Yes, they were soft-selling OM gear, but despite not being in the market form more gear right now, I found myself saying "Hmmmm....if they can use the OM system in some harsh environments, maybe in the future I'll look more carefully at it" (I just switched from Nikon to Canon....never considered M4/3 as an option).
It's the closest place to see what this country looked like before "we" arrived. It's an amazing place for sure. Avoid July and August, it can become one traffic jam after another.
Terrible? What do you shoot with. I have a pretty low keeper rate do to my AF but, there are some tricks that help get the rate up. One is getting to know how to work within the limitations of your equipment if one can’t afford the newest tech. Two, getting to know the wildlife behavior & three, practicing blending in & getting close as possible & safely when it comes to dangerous subjects. Hope you make there, happy shooting & enjoy what’s in your backyard until you do.
Is it a 14 minute add for the OM1 m-ii? Yes, but damn those are some incredible shots. I have the OM1 m-1 and the 100-400 and very happy with the results. But this, wow! I doubt that I will ever be able to afford the 150-400 Pro, but maybe the 150-600 will be something I can buy used in few years.
I really liked the production, shots are amazing. I only think that the title should be clear that this is sponsored by OM System because this feels like a bait and switch. I liked the video a lot though, also at 4:40 we can all say LOOK AT THAT BEAUTIFUL BIRD, JORDAN! 😂
Was the video shot on the OM-1 Mark II as well? OM knows exactly who their target audience is, and they lean into that. I am a longtime Olympus shooter, and this is exactly why I continue to use it. The portability is a real advantage if you hike with your camera, and I speak from experience. They need to make a few firmware tweaks to make this camera and the OM-1 before it into true video powerhouses. It wouldn't take much. Why just let Panasonic have all the independent filmmakers? Give them some tougher competition in video.
Awesome awesome ! wow, just a tad different to New Zealand, a place that I would dearly love to visit with my OM-1. Out of this world images guys !! Cheers
Beautifully filmed but it is an advertisement and this should have been more clearly displayed in the video, for example “Petapixel and OM System presents”.
In the early days of television, before ads were separated from shows and run on their own, it wasn't too dissimilar from this video. So an advertorial, or whatever you call it, like this, has been around for ages. Would I have preferred no hype at all? Sure. But someone has to pay for a production like this. So I just tuned out the hype and enjoyed the images and footage. Still nicely done.
My OM System 150-400mm arrived decentered. They refused to warranty the repair. The reason they gave for denying the repair was that it is normal and "within spec" for the lens to be decentered. I find this to be unacceptable for a lens that costs $10,000. I understand that they've moved manufacturing of this lens from Japan to Vietnam, so there may be some growing pains and hiccups as they ramp up production. However, if a product does come off the line defective and decentered, they should make it right. After all, this isn't a $200 kit lens. This is their flagship, most expensive lens that they're pushing marketing everywhere. It costs $10,000. I saved up for a long time to finally get this lens, and I am extremely disappointed by this. If OM System wants to make this right, please reach out to me. I have been a long time supporter of your system. I took the risk (against all my peers' advice of investing into a "questionable new ownership" of what was Olympus) and invested into my dream lens. Please make this right. My lens is still under warranty.
This is the reason why I switched to Sony. I spent thousands on Olympus gears like em1mk2 and 300mm f4. The term "With-in Spec" was often used in Korea as well until they closed up shop and left. Terrible way to treat customers. Sell your gears and move on. Small sensor, small mind.
For those of us that are wildlife photographers and longtime OM System (Olympus) camera users, this isn't an ad. It's a testimony to making the right choices in equipment. The 150-600 is an incredible lens with the EM1X and the OM-1 cameras. I really enjoyed watching Arthur and Tiffany.
If you can get great images with OM system, you can do it with any system. Well done. You are very upfront on the sponsorship on this RUclips post. No worries.
I feel you'd be better off having different sponsors and not any of the camera brands. I'm probably in the minority but don't enjoy having OM dominating this channel. And I'd say the same about any camera brand on a channel that reviews and reports on the whole industry. Used to come to Jordan and Chris for impartial reviews, but that's simply not possible any more.
I do agree - having one of the camera brands as a sponsor can’t help but raise questions of impartiality. This is a beautifully shot piece, but it’s also clearly an advertisement
I get what you're saying. Having worked in a industry like this, it all comes down to whoever is willing to pay for promotion. In this case, it's OM Systems is paying for exposure on this platform with their produced video. That's it. Chris and Jordan's views remain unaltered.
@@TheArtofLight I know what you mean. And they have done reviews with OM vs others and have been fair. But I still think overall it would be a better idea to not be sponsored by any of the camera brands. Camera gear, sure. Even though I know they are trying their best to be impartial, and they have bills to pay. I just think it's like having Ford sponsoring a car channel. Just makes you think Ford are in the background, however small, just whispering in their ears.
@@SamTaylors exactly. I was really enjoying it, and then I realised it was just an advert and I stopped watching. I think most people will find that weird, but I just feel that way.
What a wonderful life Tiffany and Arthur have, living their dream and taking such beautiful photographs. Thanks and I hope you revel in your free adventurous life 😀
Two things: 1) Yes, you did disclose the sponsorship but it should have been much more prominent, like in the title. You didn’t even put it in the first paragraph of the description. I’ve never seen anything like this before from a prominent media outlet. 2) Jordan should have directed this video or there should have been some collaboration with PetaPixel in the making of this video because in the absence of those two things, it just feels like shameless advertisement which belongs on OM’s own channel. Not a camera reviewers channel.
I think this kind of content could have been produced by peta pixel but should have landed on OM system’s main RUclips page. Peta pixel really didn’t get to tell a story here and it’s basically just a cool ad for OM system. I know you got to eat but it hurts the consistency of the channel. The Ohio trip that Jordan and Chris took recently is in stark contrast to this video. I mean the video doesn’t even have peta pixel folks in the video, just OM system ambassadors
Really enjoyed this! Nice personal approach. Good to hear about the cameras used and glad for the support of OM System. I hope to see more travel features. I’d like to hear more about camera settings used.
Yellowstone serves as a window into a past that never existed-or at least hadn't existed for thousands of years before human migration from Asia. Hundreds of years ago (as the voice over at the beginning says) Yellowstone was land cared for and lived on by the indigenous peoples of North America: the Cheyenne, Eastern Shoshone, and Crow people, depending on where and when.
Pre-burst is a true game changer for birds and other wildlife. Shots I was missing with my Sony A9 and GM zooms I am easily getting with my lumix G9II and Leica zooms. Sony still wins with AF speed and tracking but I have found the lumix just more enjoyable to go out with and at the end of the day bring home more keepers. Being 1/3 of the weight of my Sony with 200-600 after a few hours doesn’t hurt (Literally) my body either.
I wish you well with your channel, we all need to pay bills and live. As a wildlife and landscape photographer when I saw the title I was excited. However it is about the photographers and the OM system, not really about the uniqueness of Yellowstone. It would be great if you could use your sponsorship to make a real wildlife documentary of that amazing National Park. Most of us aren't into quarter of an hour adverts really...Sorry.
If OM system spent as much money on advertising as they did on products maybe they would have phase detect auto focus 🤷♂️ just saying. Otherwise absolutely gorgeous video, amazing photos hats off to the photographers they smashed it.
If only Pentax could sponsor PetaPixel then I would be watching a video of a couple of people with their Pentax cameras phographing winter wildlife in Yellowstone 🙏
Haha, so true. DP Review forum used to be a swamp. Lots of "old man yells at clouds" and the next phase of the 90's PC crowd, constantly comparing clock speeds.

I know y’all are getting flak for this being an advert but not a single person here would turn down the money out of the kindness of their heart.
I prefer full frame R5II / RF 600mm F4, having a larger sensor just has so many more benefits.
I am totally into OM System and use a lot of their gear. But this ad is so on the moose, I cannot bear it. (I will not apologize for that pun!)
Another predictable add 😂😂😂
More videos like this...❤
What a wonderful life Tiffany and Arthur have, living their dream and taking such beautiful photographs. Thanks and I hope you revel in your free adventurous life 😀
Thanks for watching! They do have some pretty cool lives, and their wildlife photographs are incredible!
Two things:
1) Yes, you did disclose the sponsorship but it should have been much more prominent, like in the title.
Nice video! I love Yellowstone/Grand Tetons but have never been there in the winter.
Thanks for watching. It is incredible. I highly recommend you put it on your bucket list for next winter.
@@MichaelBonocorePetaPixel I would, but my wife not so sure.
Really enjoyed this! Nice personal approach. Good to hear about the cameras used and glad for the support of OM System. I hope to see more travel features. I’d like to hear more about camera settings used.
Thanks alot John! We appreciate it.
Can't fault OM Systems for trying. 🤷 Cool footage.
Excellent production - inspiring thank you! its way more than an ad - I disagree!
14 minute ad with nice imagery
Pre-burst is a true game changer for birds and other wildlife. Shots I was missing with my Sony A9 and GM zooms I am easily getting with my lumix G9II and Leica zooms. Sony still wins with AF speed and tracking but I have found the lumix just more enjoyable to go out with and at the end of the day bring home more keepers. Being 1/3 of the weight of my Sony with 200-600 after a few hours doesn’t hurt
(Literally) my body either.
Why are they using a full frame lens on a sensor that's a quarter of the area?
I wish you well with your channel, we all need to pay bills and live. As a wildlife and landscape photographer when I saw the title I was excited. However it is about the photographers and the OM system, not really about the uniqueness of Yellowstone. It would be great if you could use your sponsorship to make a real wildlife documentary of that amazing National Park. Most of us aren't into quarter of an hour adverts really...Sorry.
Were you flying a drone in shot 0:18, 0:39, & 1:27?
It is incredibly illegal to fly drones in National Parks.
If OM system spent as much money on advertising as they did on products maybe they would have phase detect auto focus 🤷♂️ just saying.
Otherwise absolutely gorgeous video, amazing photos hats off to the photographers they smashed it.
Olympus/OM System cameras have had phase detect autofocus for over a decade, starting with the E-M1
@@PetaPixelI apologise I am clearly going mad 🤦♂️
Still would be nice to see a new m10 though…. Any news on this…
#ad and a bit of corny one at that.
Yeah, but when's S5 Part 2 of Yellowstone coming out???
If they wouldn't just list the key specs of the camera as if reading it of a literal spec sheet it would be so much easier to listen to them.
If only Pentax could sponsor PetaPixel then I would be watching a video of a couple of people with their Pentax cameras phographing winter wildlife in Yellowstone 🙏
Was it filmed in OMlog 400 or HLG ?
Thanks for the comment, It was shot on OMlog 400
OM Sponsored ?
Someone make sure Jordan sees the shot at 4:39...pretty cool shot of a raven!
Boo!!!
- Jordan
It was kind of cool but tough to take after a while.
Next level, gamechanger
Amazing
Thanks Michael!
At the end of the film, they should have placed Chris' "Meh" face with a speech bubble that says "...it is nothing but a rebranded Sigma lens" 😊
Beautiful to see. Ofc it is biased but i love it anyways.
Great material. I appreciate it really.
By the way, are you planning to publish tests of the latest Lumix update?
Thanks for the kind words! I will let Jordan and Chris answer the Lumix update question :)
please more national park sponsored videos
Guarantee all the gripes are coming from DP review forum users , those folk love a good moan. 😂
Haha, so true. DP Review forum used to be a swamp. Lots of "old man yells at clouds" and the next phase of the 90's PC crowd, constantly comparing clock speeds.
Play the video for nice video and photos of the animals but leave the audio of the commercial off.
I get that you have to pay this bills etc, but this felt so forced as in the "story telling" nothing wrong with an ad but 14mins long...
Love this channel and I understand you guys need sponsers to surivive and pay billls, but this video feels wrong... Like its hard to envision a partnership like this not subconsciously altering opinions and wording in non sponsered content, even if its just on a micro level. Regardless I'll hop off my soap box now, overall you guys are doing great work keep it up!
PS I would love to see more of these docu series shorts you guys are making. Like the Idaho video!
Did you even read the description? Use what's left of your brain, man.
#ad
0:20 Ya lost me at "seen her with their own eyes"
Where's Chris and Jordan and the other fella
Cool ad but absolutely nobody’s paying $10k for that 300-800mm f9 setup 🤣🤣
Well my friend just did and he sold his 600mm F4 RF Canon lens in exchange. Of course, he would stay on with the big lens and the R5 or I would have liked to use Z9 with 400mm 2.8 with the built in TC but as we get older thing changes.
I know y’all are getting flak for this being an advert but not a single person here would turn down the money out of the kindness of their heart. Y’all are impartial as possible (OM video cough cough) and pour your heart into these. Beautifully shot and produced, I’m happy OM came in with the funds to make it happen!
Thank you Anthony! We appreciate your kind words. Cheers man!
Interesting place
Makes me want go back to Yellowsrone. But I’m all SONY….this video isn’t gonna change that.
Nice shots but really it's just an ad.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
