This video hits all of the above! I am a Kappa Alpha Theta at Mizzou, and I want to pass along these tips from myself and sorority members from other houses. *We've all gone through recruitment from the inside.* So this will be helpful! PROMISE.

Great!! I am so happy you enjoyed it! Recommendation letters are helpful, but they don't make or break your chance of getting into the house you want. It's just additional information about who you are as person before you walk through the door for formal recruitment! Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

for asking members questions on sisterhood day, will it be set up more like an interview-style discussion where they are asking you questions, you answer, then they ask if you have any questions for them, or if they ask why we rushed, are we able to ask them why they rushed too after we told them why? so basically is it more of an interview or a conversation

Hey! This video was great! I'm a sophomore at a small liberal arts school. I did formal recruitment earlier this semester but it didn't go great and I ended up dropping out halfway through. I'm planning on rushing again in the fall of this year, but I'll be a junior. Do you have any tips about how to answer the questions about why I didn't rush earlier?
Emily Pozniak Hey Emily! If it didn’t go well, be honest about that! Maybe you didn’t find the sisterhood you were looking for, so you are starting the search again. Or you just weren’t in the right frame of mind the last time, and you’ve had a year to find what you are looking for in a sorority now! I think honesty is the best way to answer this. The one thing I’d caution: don’t put down the sorority you ended up dropping (not saying you ever would)! if it wasn’t the right fit, that’s okay. But just be sure to stay positive about that sorority even though they weren’t the right fit!

Hey there, so recently I have been really interested in joining a sorority when I go to school. (I am only a junior right now, but I do plan on going to Mizzou) This video, as well as many others, is super helpful, but I was wondering if there’s anything I can do right now in highschool that will really help me when the time comes? ale vargas Hey Ale! As a sophomore, you’ll probably get asked why you didn’t rush as a freshman. Also, focus on the things you did / got involved with freshman year!! If you can, share any **meaningful** experiences you’ve had with girls in that sorority during your first year on campus. You can talk about how you love what the chapter stands for, since you’ve actually been on campus and know more about it. That will be an easy way to relate to the girl you’re talking to in the house :-) and lastly, just have fun!

Annabel, I was looking for sorority tip videos for my daughter who is going to Mizzou this Fall 2020 and wants to rush. I also was a Theta at Mizzou (graduated 1990 in Broadcast Journalism). I sent her a few of the RUclips videos I first came across about sorority rush, but I was thinking to myself, these girls are not anything like my daughter (they came across very shallow and a bit ditsy), and I was worried she would assume all girls in a sorority were like that. Then I just happened to see yours, and you and my daughter could be the same person (obviously smart, funny, down-to-earth and cute....you know, a Theta.) Just wanted to say great job and way to represent Theta. Very proud to send your video along to her. Of course I'm trying not to bias her in her selection, but think she'd love Theta as much as I did and still do.

Coming from a different Country the whole Greek life idea was quite an odd concept to me and Annabel had to do a fair amount of persuading before we even thought about her joining but oh by golly what a wonderful experience it has been, could not recommend it more highly, Theta in particular (biased mum here), and Mizzu has been an absolutely wonderful College even though out of State. Hope your daughter finds the perfect home away from home !
How much does it cost to join a sorority? And like if no house picks u back and you dont vibe with any of the houses would you get your money back?

I’m rushing at Mizzou next year and I’m nervous. I’ve seen from other sorority videos that the sisters stalk the girls instagrams and stuff; however, I don’t have any social media at all- will they think I’m weird 😰
No Name Hey! Some houses will look through the instagrams of potential members. It is helpful to have a presence online, since it gives members a bit more insight into who you are / what your interests are. However, not all sororities will look at your social media. It shouldn’t hurt you to not have an account!
hii i was wondering on what are the reasons why the sorority dropped you
I really want to rush, didn’t do it my freshman year because I wasn’t sure what I even wanted to major in so I didn’t want to join Greek life without knowing that it was for sure a commitment I wanted to make, I will be a sophomore next fall and 20yrs old so I’m a little hesitant about rushing because I don’t know if houses will consider me since I’m older and weirdly enough I am kinda intimidate about the younger girls that I will be rushing with, does anyone have any advice that could help me lmao
Isa Hi! So I say definitely rush. It’s one of those experiences that you never know if you don’t try. Several girls in my member class at MU are a year older than me, and they are just as important and loved in the sorority as everyone the “typical” age. If a house won’t consider you because you’re a year older, then that house should work on being more accepting. If you want to rush at all, I say just do it!!

you shouldn't need to stand out, just be yourself
tips for rushing as a senior? i know it’s very late but i want to make an effort to try and better late than never. i want to go in with a positive mindset but it’s a bit nerve wracking being in my last year.
Remember your favorite animal. I panicked and said “zebra” which is incorrect on many many levels. It’s actually wolf because of their complicated hierarchy and how they work together as a pack.
All this may be useful, but the primary consideration will always be (at least for the elite ones) being white, skinny, and upper middle class or rich.
Do u ever get fat girls in sororities?
