  • In this video I’ll show you a simple way to remove and install your hand grips without damaging anything.
    What you need before you start?
    - New Grips (Race Face Chester Grips Slide-on)
    - Zip tie (7” long)
    - Glass cleaner
    First, lay down your bike on its side, hand grip faces down.
    Take the zip tie and stick it inside the grip and get to the bottom as much as you can, then spray glass cleaner in between grip and handlebar.
    Slide off the old grip.
    Prepare your new grip, spray glass cleaner on the handlebar and inside the new grip.
    Slide on the new grip and adjust the brake.
    Now do the same thing again on the other side.

    I was trying to remove my grips with no luck at all. Thought about cutting them off. I found this video and tried your method. It work so easy. I used a very thin screw driver instead of a zip tie. The zip tie would get stuck. Anyway the grips came off to go on a new handle bar I just installed. Thanks so much for this very helpful video......Take care, Bluefin.

    Thank you sir for such a helpful video. I have never replaced grips on a bike before. It looked intimidating before seeing your video. I just replaced the original grips on my 22 year old bmx bike and I was done in less than 10 minutes!

    I tried to remove a grip for over 50 minutes swearing every second, I ended up spraying half a bottle of WD-40 and ripped it out with my teeth (I know it’s dangerous but I was going to give up on life)

    You're a genius man. My grips were too tight to use zip ties so I used a pair or pliers to hold it open while my wife sprayed it and worked!

    I think isopropyl alcohol would be a better thing so it doesn't corrode your metal (it evaporates very quickly). Other than that. Amazing video/

    Does the glass cleaner ever dry out because my grips are slipping after about an hour of letting them sit and I only used a little cleaner

    • @DanyoSports
      @DanyoSports  4 года назад +2

      Yes, the glass cleaner should dry out pretty fast, try remove the grips and clean the handlebar, make sure you remove any access oil and dirt then reapply it.
