I'm a graphic designer, and people (usually with no knowledge of any Adobe software) say it's better for graphic designing, and it's not. I've been hearing that since I started college. I graduated in 2004, and people still say it to me when they find out I'm a graphic designer. The only people who prefer Apple for graphic designing are fanboys like the ones in this video. The only time I've used Apple computers for a prolonged amount of time has been at school. I question whether Apple would still be in business if the Department of Education stopped wasting so much money by putting their computers in schools.
That's what I was thinking. PCs are just as good, and they're not nearly as expensive. Tuition is too high, so that's something that should be cut from their budget.

However, and this is crucial, Apple does a bang-up job with colour calibration, and they always have. This is very important to graphics designers. You can get displays that are just as good as Apple's out there, but generally they are very expensive. So expensive, in fact, that the price difference starts to disappear.

It's true that there are other high quality displays out there, but they are expensive. Now you might have noticed that I said the price difference "almost disappears". You're right that you can get high quality displays and that it will generally be a little cheaper, but you require a lot of knowledge about colour spaces to figure out what is a good buy. With Apple, you just buy a Mac and know immediately with 100% confidence that your colours are going to be accurate. That's worth a lot to professional graphics designers who would otherwise have to spend a lot of time testing individual displays.

He was such an Apple fanboy and actually had the audacity to argue with Network Engineers and Computer Science majors(he's Sound Engineering) about the technical aspects of Apple products being inherently better than all competition. I feel like sharing my story here since it seems some Apple-people are actually here getting worked up. I'm a student and part time soldier. I like to work out on the gym, have a beer with my friends every once in a while, fuck, play warhammer, and everything else people like. Also I really like being able to play games like CS:GO, the total war series, NS2, Fallout 2 and such without having to rely on the stupidity of a console. Sure, sometimes I wanna do photo editing, but I have had no issues with editing photos on a PC. And indeed I also enjoy being able to update my computer with new hardware, with a fesiable price tag, and supporting small retailers in doing so. All the new PC games, movies, hardware, software, and yeah pretty much anything I wanna do, on my computer, with tons of USB-ports, blueray-drive, etc etc. That is why I use a PC. Because it's simply better. Arguing that apple does better computers is kind of like saying that consoles are better for gaming. Sure, Apple might be better at some particular thing, like a console is good for adventure games, but on the whole it's paying a lot for little, less capability to change your experience and the usage of your machine and just plain worse. But one day, I got tired of the iPhone and just decided I wanted something different so I got my first Android. I loved it....everything about it. I sold my iPad b/c I didn't really need a tablet since I had a laptop. With that said, I still do prefer OS X, but I also have Windows computers. I have Android still as well as Blackberry. I don't really consider myself "loyal" to any brand because I don't believe any company can "rule them all". I like choices....I like having different options on what to use.

Mac has few viruses because its user base is smaller (less insensitive) and it's a really limited experience (lack of freedom). Mac is way more expensive. Most macs trade raw performance for esthetics, no fans = need of lowering component speed. They almost never invent true new technologies, they just pac them together (actually good) or make a incompatible copy of something that exists. Apple pro desktops are an offensive, way more expensive and way less powerful than custom PCs. etc. (written from an iPad)... xD

idefuseninja It is like every computer, with a mouse you use the right button and with the trackpad you use the corner you set up if you cannot use two fingers. When I use the trackpad on my notebook, I already have two fingers set up there to either scroll or right click and I find it confusing and time consuming to use another trackpad with an extra right click button and scroll area, but then again, Synaptics trackpads are not so well thought out anyway. I guess it is a habit, and some cannot get accustomed to it.
How can someone prefer a touchpad that's in any way different to the mac one? I mean, you have to know three-four gestures, but then the fun starts. Never needed an external mouse on the macbook, just on other notebooks because of their horrible touchpads.

I have a Mac, but I always say "I'm not drinking the kool-aid". I don't think it's the end all be all like some of the people. It's not going to "just work" for everything, they've brain washed you, sorry. I think it really impairs the fan boys from doing real work sometimes. There will be some program or something you can do on windows and the Mac doesn't have a version of it and the Apple user spends 10 times as much time trying to get something similar to work on the Mac. And usually it doesn't work or doesn't work as well. I enjoy my Mac quite a lot, it's great for surfing the Web and checking my email. If I want to do some real in depth power user computer work I'll use my Linux or windows machine.

I'm often posting to Apple how they fucked this or that up... sometimes they even get around to fixing it, but it takes years. They are great machines, but far from perfect, I could list at least 10 major faults and 100 minor faults I have come across in the past 5 years. But I would NEVER go back to Windows, it is a horrible operating system. (not tried Windows 8 yet, but I guess I will soon).

I'm a graphic designer, and people (usually with no knowledge of any Adobe software) say it's better for graphic designing, and it's not. I've been hearing that since I started college. I graduated in 2004, and people still say it to me when they find out I'm a graphic designer. The only people who prefer Apple for graphic designing are fanboys like the ones in this video. The only time I've used Apple computers for a prolonged amount of time has been at school. I question whether Apple would still be in business if the Department of Education stopped wasting so much money by putting their computers in schools.
That's what I was thinking. PCs are just as good, and they're not nearly as expensive. Tuition is too high, so that's something that should be cut from their budget.

However, and this is crucial, Apple does a bang-up job with colour calibration, and they always have. This is very important to graphics designers.
You can get displays that are just as good as Apple's out there, but generally they are very expensive. So expensive, in fact, that the price difference starts to disappear.

Now you might have noticed that I said the price difference "almost disappears". You're right that you can get high quality displays and that it will generally be a little cheaper, but you require a lot of knowledge about colour spaces to figure out what is a good buy.
With Apple, you just buy a Mac and know immediately with 100% confidence that your colours are going to be accurate. That's worth a lot to professional graphics designers who would otherwise have to spend a lot of time testing individual displays.

Fortunately there are alternatives for nearly every service at this point. I'll agree it's probably the one thing that's really difficult to find an alternative for, but if you just want to mirror your texts to all your devices, I'm sure you can do that.

I feel like sharing my story here since it seems some Apple-people are actually here getting worked up. I'm a student and part time soldier. I like to work out on the gym, have a beer with my friends every once in a while, fuck, play warhammer, and everything else people like. Also I really like being able to play games like CS:GO, the total war series, NS2, Fallout 2 and such without having to rely on the stupidity of a console. Sure, sometimes I wanna do photo editing, but I have had no issues with editing photos on a PC. And indeed I also enjoy being able to update my computer with new hardware, with a fesiable price tag, and supporting small retailers in doing so. All the new PC games, movies, hardware, software, and yeah pretty much anything I wanna do, on my computer, with tons of USB-ports, blueray-drive, etc etc.
That is why I use a PC. Because it's simply better. Arguing that apple does better computers is kind of like saying that consoles are better for gaming. Sure, Apple might be better at some particular thing, like a console is good for adventure games, but on the whole it's paying a lot for little, less capability to change your experience and the usage of your machine and just plain worse.

1- Apple has a fanatical customership. Their customers are hellbent on making Apple seem as good as it's humanly possible. Mainly because they do identify by it. It has become a part of their personality. Exactly how Jobs wanted it.
2- That brings us to the next point - Apple users tend to greatly exaggerate their positive experience with Apple. I don't deny the apparent qualities of it's products. I used to be an Apple user before. But the things that Apple fanboys tell just goes off the charts. It's not as fine and dandy as die hard Apple users want us to believe it is.
3- Also let's not forget, that absolute majority of Apple users are n00bs, which are led to believe, that they are tech savvy...when clearly they are not. Let's face the reality - most people buy an Apple product simply because it's an Apple product. Not because it has some redeeming qualities.
4- Apple does overcharge their customers...Or I would even go as far as say that they are ripping them off. Google iFixit. look them up. Also Apple's planned obsolescence is not "just a conspiracy theory" any more. It's a widely acknowledged fact. Either that - or their tech designers are too dumb to make it more durable.
5- But I do agree. If the customer is satisfied - that's all that matters at that point. But that does not mean, that the product, that they are satisfied with is That good, if any good at all.

It is like every computer, with a mouse you use the right button and with the trackpad you use the corner you set up if you cannot use two fingers.
When I use the trackpad on my notebook, I already have two fingers set up there to either scroll or right click and I find it confusing and time consuming to use another trackpad with an extra right click button and scroll area, but then again, Synaptics trackpads are not so well thought out anyway.
I guess it is a habit, and some cannot get accustomed to it.
How can someone prefer a touchpad that's in any way different to the mac one? I mean, you have to know three-four gestures, but then the fun starts. Never needed an external mouse on the macbook, just on other notebooks because of their horrible touchpads.

- Seeing that it comes very close in benchmarks like AnTuTu and others to the quad and eight core SoCs found in other flagships does not mean anything then?
The S5 gets around 36,603 AnTuTu points for example, the iPhone 6 gets around 46,123 points, the S6 (which is newer than the iPhone 6) gets around 57,000.
Now maybe wait for the A9 iPhone 6s to see how that fares and then come back and talk about those specs.

I have a Mac, but I always say "I'm not drinking the kool-aid". I don't think it's the end all be all like some of the people. It's not going to "just work" for everything, they've brain washed you, sorry.
I think it really impairs the fan boys from doing real work sometimes. There will be some program or something you can do on windows and the Mac doesn't have a version of it and the Apple user spends 10 times as much time trying to get something similar to work on the Mac. And usually it doesn't work or doesn't work as well. I enjoy my Mac quite a lot, it's great for surfing the Web and checking my email. If I want to do some real in depth power user computer work I'll use my Linux or windows machine.

if you pay 1000 dollars for a mac, you can easily beat it with a $1000 PC. I have a $600 PC and statistically it beat a $2000 Mac pro

I'm an apple fanatic, but this is still funny to me lol... Used PC's from the very first IBM XT/AT (most of you won't know what that is) and switched to Apple when the Intel Macs came along, sorry to say I would never go back to Windows.

lol, I don't think you'll find this guy is indicative of your average mac user. I love macs, but I have all kinds of frustrations with them. I'm often posting to Apple how they fucked this or that up... sometimes they even get around to fixing it, but it takes years. They are great machines, but far from perfect, I could list at least 10 major faults and 100 minor faults I have come across in the past 5 years.
But I would NEVER go back to Windows, it is a horrible operating system. (not tried Windows 8 yet, but I guess I will soon).
