Apple has always done all they can to give their users as little freedom as possible, so this is totally expected. The sad part is that simps on Twitter just repeat talking points from Apple doing their dirty work for them. Even more sad, they are journalists whose job is supposed to be to scrutinize Apple's claims, not repeat them. Muta is doing better journalism than actual professional journalists. 😅

Apple is a textbook example of a company that doesn't want you to do things with their devices outside of what they deem to be safe, let alone fix it yourself. Seeing how they successfully fear mongered their user base into thinking side loading is bad, there is no hope for them. It's kind of concerning that a company like Apple can do that to their fans.

It's potentially one of the reasons why they refused to allow for sideloading all this time. They've been terrified because in terms of security and privacy, that's all ios devices have left. Users should be have been allowed to sideload stuff all this time, they paid for the phone after all, so might as well give them the freedom to take advantage of it and use it however they want, not take that freedom away and claim "it's for your own protection". I have been pushing my Swedish politicians hard on this bill. I'm so proud that it went through. Now we're just waiting for "The right to repair"-bill to get through all the red tape and get finalized. It's gonna be awesome when people can actually go to a corner store _(or something like that, that ISN'T connected to Apple at all)_ and get their iPhones fixed instead of having to buy new ones or sending them away. It's gonna save so insanely much E-waste from getting to third world countries.

    • @quinntrbl

May I ask, how (if it is at all) is the Swedish bill different? If it's anything like what we've seen elsewhere, then we're just going to be in the same situation of Apple overcharging for parts and basically making it so thats it's almost as cheap as just going to Apple (who'll just give you a new phone). Also, wouldn't the repair places have to be connected to Apple anyway? (because the Apple engineers have to pair the parts for you even if you repair it yourself)

    • @tessiepinkman

@@quinntrbl It's not a Swedish bill, it's a bill for the EU, but as I'm Swedish, I push my Swedish EU representatives to in turn push this bill. With the bill I'm pushing, there shouldn't be any special parts, since most phones - Apple's too - are made out of mostly basic shit, and if they aren't, we are pushing them to change to something that anyone can buy so that they can fix their phone at home if they can, or at some store who's specialized in fixing phones if they aren't capable themselves. I hope the bill goes through, it looks like it, but you never know what amendments they'll make to get it through in the end. I'm staying positive though, and keep sending e-mails and pushing as hard as I can with *facts* for this to go through. The E-waste question alone should, in a perfect world, be reason enough for the bill to pass. But, this world is far from perfect, so we'll have to wait and see.

I was sure this was some kind of oversight on the user's part until I asked someone to send me an image (character reference) so I could draw their character for an Artist's Alley commission.
Normally this is pretty straightforward via Bluetooth. I pass image files between my Android tablets/phones and Windows laptop pretty frequently this way (even rescued some photos from an old LG VX9800 this way). But lo and behold, this proved an impossible task, as far as I and the iPhone's owner could figure out. Maybe the feature is only useful for BT headsets/AirPods, I never researched it beyond that. Few years ago my mother decided to get a pad. I am a person who is into tech stuff. I build my own PC and have a nice setup for example. When I say I build PC I mean I hand picked every part myself, ordered braided cables, added some nice features like touch screen that allows me to control fans and I see temperature, optimized air flow and etc etc. It looks clean, efficient and cool.
When I do stuff like that I do a lot of research. I don't have regrets buying tech stuff as I put a lot of thought into it.
So I told my mom I could pick her a pad. She just needs to decide how much she can pay and what kind of features she would like. Instead of listening to my advice she bought a ipad which was over 1k euros. I completely agree that it's a quality device like sound, screen, battery and etc. Still I think I could have found something better for half the price. My mother doesn't watch TV so I made her a laptop setup. Inserted SSD, connected a nice monitor, some good speakers and a wireless keyboard with build in touch pad. I tweaked settings and installed all necessary stuff. It's like a TV on steroids.
Once I got my hands on that Ipad I just instantly saw how much it lacks freedom. Can't customize some things or just do some stuff. Can't even do anything about ads which annoy my mom but I said it's your own fault. Plus I had pleasure of learning a lot about apple and a lot of it is just greed. How they take away power from consumer and ask insane amount of money for smallest things. You can't go to a technician no no, you need to go to a apple certified expert who will tell you to change half of the phone to fix a charging port or something. Their obsession with creating "unique" stuff like requiring a cable only used by apple. I had to buy a fucking 3.5mm adapter for that ipad.
It just feels like Apple devices are not completely owned by you even after you buy them. They don't even give you options as they want you to live in apple world and be dependent on it.

    • @manguys9589
      @manguys9589 Год назад +36

Apple products are soo restrictive and humiliatingly greedy, when you buy something, you gotta buy million other things for you to complete the whole set, and unlock them, whereas a single android phone like the S23 Ultra 5G can bundle up 70% of what apple products did and didn't. It's SOOO greedy because they ask for huge amount of price for a single phone that has many obviously, on purpose, restricted and blocked features that have not been added by apple for their own benefit, just so that they can progressively open them one by one with each generation so that they can squeeze out every cent from their consumers and inbred fanbase. It's really scummy and it's even worse when their backing them up as some sort of hero when it's the literal thing that dries up their wallets and blinds their eyes on what huge improvement that could impact your devices. It's insane.

The claim that cringing at the introduction of last year's processor in the iPhone 14 and labeling it as a "Tried and tested formula" makes no sense can be countered with the following arguments:
Incremental Improvements: The use of a tried and tested formula in the iPhone 14 does not necessarily imply stagnation or lack of innovation. It is common for companies to refine and optimize existing technologies to deliver incremental improvements. By utilizing a processor from the previous year, Apple can focus on optimizing performance, efficiency, and software integration, thereby delivering a better user experience. Cringing at such an approach overlooks the potential benefits of refined technology.
Consistency and Reliability: Utilizing a proven processor design can provide a sense of reliability and consistency in terms of performance. The previous-generation processor may already be a high-performing and efficient chipset, capable of meeting the needs of most users. By incorporating it into the iPhone 14, Apple can ensure a stable and reliable user experience without the potential risks associated with a brand-new, untested chipset.

I can absolutely agree with this. This is why after the iPhone, i eventually got myself AirPods, Apple watch, Macbook, Homepod and eventually even a Mac Mini. File Sharing aswell as connection sharing is so much easier between apple devices than with Android/Windows. Let alone, that the Apple Silicon CPUs are much more power efficient than any AMD or Intel. Switching from Windows to MacOS saved almost 40% off my powerbill. But i think, the greatest thing about this whole combo is AirDrop, where you can quickly send big files between iPhone/iPad to Macbook/Mac Mini. Same with easy Hotspot connection.

You can download a minimal home screen with just the name of the apps in a list instead of icons, which could help not distract you, or download any home screen you like that's to your preferences. Androids have features most people won't use or care to use. People buy iPhones for a reason, they're a safe option and most people don't need something with so many features. I'm not simping for Apple, I don't care for their company, but I prefer iPhones generally.
Personally IDGAF about Androids. Their features, while good for people using them for specific things, are useless to me, so its not worth the money when iPhones do everything I need it to. I use my phone to text, call, watch RUclips, and browse the internet for whatever reason, that's it.
I had 3 Androids and I've had more issues with them than I have with iPhones. Not because they themselves didn't work right, I didn't like them because they were confusing, hard to get used to, and some features an iPhone has they don't have. I liked a few features on Androids that iPhones don't have but from experience iPhones are much simpler and easier to use.

Although practically most people who use phones and take pictures don't have dslrs and even if they own one it's much easier to click pictures with a phone and people incentivise to do the same
Also pictures even though flagships(iPhone and Android) have the same quality in pictures ,the app developers of
Major social media sites and apps can't practically make individual apps catered to every flagship Android brands and their own multiple models (although some major social media apps brands has started working only samsung to do that ,now there is a even playing field with iphones through which picture look the same after uploading to the app as it was in the actual photo taken from the samsung Android camera)
Last thing iPhone do have an objective better(close to negligible difference, still a difference) upper hand when it comes to video recording and recently Android flagships brands and have narrowed the gap more n more the years r passing(but may be 4 to 5 years ago the gap was wider than it is now )
