Are these the BEST horror remakes ever? How good are these #4k restorations from #arrowvideo and #screamfactory? Well, I am going to review them from a fan and filmmaker's POV as always and we will see if these are the best and if they are must-owns! so pop that tape in, I got you, let's go do this!
I was a pretty big fan of 09' Friday the 13th. I will always say that it's hard to explain away cell phones without using the same old clichés and really think Jason needs to be forever rooted in the 80's. I remember being upset that the cop didn't call for backup toward the end and basically put me in a bad mood and felt like he should have called or done it a different way. While not a big part, I remember loving the sorta flash back with Pamala Vorhees in the rain and loving how wild she looked. In the theater, I heard the actress and remembered the voice but didn't totally recognize her at first, and then clicked for me. Being a big Star Trek fan, I saw that it was Nana Visitor (Major Kira) from DS9. I would cast her again in a heartbeat to do more Pamela cause she can pull off sweet/crazy all day. Great video!
I have the 4K version of the Friday the 13th remake, and I have to agree that it looks fantastic. I saw it at the theater, and it was so entertaining. Now, it looks even better. I will always enjoy this film
Amityville Horror looked really good to me. I loved the detail of the house and If you look closely, you can even see the small line on the contact lenses on Ryan Reynolds eyes. I was hyped watching it. Still waiting for F13 to get in…can’t wait.
Just finished The Amityville Horror and I can't wait to get The Friday 13th. I really enjoyed Amityville, and Damn, Melissa George is stunning. I love Friday the 13th. It's easily one of my favorite remakes.
Yeah, I think it looks outstanding and it is a fun ride -certainly a worthy re-imagining to have fun with it...I think Ryan Reynolds is downright scary when he turns
The reason people think these are digital or look digital IS because of that DI. The Digital Intermediate for films in this era was often done at barely 2K. It's a full digital scan at that lower resolution, then a scan back to film...so the loss in detail from the scan can't be gained back. Digital intermediate scanning improves every year....so 2009 Friday looking better than 2005 Amity makes a TON of sense
I know it's technically not a remake but in my personal opinion Night of the Creeps is an homage to the B horror films of the past. Also I personally love Tom Savini's remake of Night of the Living Dead starring Tony Todd more than the orginal and I'm a big fan of Romero's other films. I will reach you on email soon about getting a copy of Creature Feature. Anyone who says remakes don't work hasn't seen The Fly, The Thing, or The Blob. I have all but The Fly on digital and physical copies.
My Friday the 13th is on the way. I'm going to check out the Amity remake, I might get that one you just shown. Enjoyed the video. Friday the 13th is next week!
I picked up Friday the 13th based on your recommendation. Should be in a little over a week! On the fence with The Amityville Horror, I’ve only watched it once. The original scared the $#@t out of me when I was a kid and will always be one of my all time favorite horror films
I think you'll enjoy FT13 and it looks great! The originaly Amityville is one of my all time favorites too and honestly, the original scared me and still scares me BUT I do think this remake pays homage to it and Ryan Reynolds is really good when he turns evil
09, 13th is by far the best remake, Jason makes you feel, that he's on another level of athleticism & brute force, you ain't getting away. He knows that his very presence is horrific, stands & looks into your soul, as if staring down your spirit, you are going to die, spiritually & then, physically. Like a pallet cleanser, you get the hurt of a missing sister, comedy "Shoot the Boot!" & the "stupendous! " boobs ( . )( . ), what more could you want in horror? My Arrow 4k just arrived & looking forward to watching this weekend, with a pizza, sixer & my lady. Have a good one!🇺🇲🍻
the thing is certainly the best...but most people dont think of it because the reamke is 45 years old now and kinda too much to explain out in a thumbnail LOL
bwhahahaha but you know that happens too! they built a new subdivision about a quarter mile from my house and to halt construction for almost 3 months while they investigated the 17 bodies/skeletons that were dug up!!!
Was there any deleted scenes with the actress Julianna Guill who played Bree? I heard there was a hot tub scene with her and Chewie/Lawrence and additional scenes involving her :)
Sadly two remakes I did not fancy. The feel in Friday remake was not what makes me tick. Amityville tired me out with jump scare after jump scare. No feeling. Eell sometimes. But generally I was disappointed. Effects are good. Films lpok cool. But… Sorry. To once again bring up JC… The Thing! Best remake ever? It is a ”remake” of a 1950’s movie so…hehe. Cheers!
The Thing stands alone but I also dont think most people think of it as a remake even though it is because the reamke was done 45 years ago lol...everyone is really different but I think the FT13 remake gives everything you could ask for from a FT13 movie...Amityville gets off too far in weird directions sometimes but overall I enjoy it as a watchable re-imagining
@@AVAPopCulture if you want one that could get a remake, I'd suggest Dark Night Of The Scarecrow. I'd say it'd benefit from the addition of some gore, BUT, that film is ALL atmosphere and I think a remake would lose a lot of that. It could direct people to the original though, and that's never a bad thing right ?
Why did ft13 not come out on ft13. I agree it’s the best. Has everything and I would not change anything. I’m not getting the explanations I still don’t understand what’s going on I think your too smart
You have been allowed to call that F13 knockoff special for far too long! You keep this up you will have to suffer 3.5 subscribers 😂😂😂 we all just 3:55 😅😅😅
I ordered ft13 months ago and it said 9/17 on Amazon then it said order received now it says 9/24 but everyone is already getting there’s. Fuck Amazon the only reason I Shop there is I get paid in gift cards

I like the idea of setting more newer horror films in the 70s and 80s for that reason! and the opening rain scene was epic!
Spot on reviews AVA, many great points 👍
thanks man! I really enjoyed taking a deep dive into these two!
@@AVAPopCulture still waiting on my ft13, looking forward to it 😃
@@stickywicked447 look forward to hearing your thoughts when you check it out!
Solid review thx bud
thanks man! glad you enjoyed it!
I just bought it based on your recommendation, it's on its way 👍🏽
I think they 4ks that Id recommend any horror fan add to their collection...which one did you grab?
Friday 13 remake was out 2009 but awesome video
thanks!
yeah, typo, got them flip-flopped lol

@@Franksmediaandreviews yes they will lol
The best horror remakes for me are Friday the 13th 2009, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Hills Have Eyes.
Those are good ones! I think the Thing is the best ever but that "remake" is 44 years old so we dont often think of it

I was at the real Amityville horror house last weekend. They've changed it alot
I think they want people to not recognize it lol

I liked both of then but they came out before the remake boom, I didn’t get remake fatigue yet.

There's nothing wrong with 2009 friday the 13th it is a good film one of my favorite s two
100% agree! I have a lot of fun with it!
One thing can def tell in those two reviews is how much better Arrow releases are then Scream Factory Releases!
on this one yes, but not always
The Thing and Dawn of the Dead for me.
the thing is certainly the best...but most people dont think of it because the reamke is 45 years old now and kinda too much to explain out in a thumbnail LOL
Add the Blob to that.
I am interested in picking up Amityville sometime. Waiting on F13 from Diabolik. It hasn't been shipped yet.
I like Diabolik but man, Orbit ships stuff so dang fast! The Amityville 4k is worth having in the collection in my opinion
Yeah rarely anyone here in the UK ever does a horror film with an Anglo Saxon Burial Ground plot!🤣

The Fly
The Blob
The Thing
The Hills Have Eyes
I Spit On Your Grave
Dawn Of The Dead
Carrie
All of those are better or as good as, the originals imo
the Thing sticks out to me as the best ever BUT because that remake is almost 45 years old, we never think about it as a remake lol
