I will always be saddened that the 4k era of films never got to truly shine out in the wild. Mostly it has to be found online (for the majority of us) because it simply isn't out there on shelves in retailers anymore. If anyone has an awesome physical media shop nearby....PLEASE give them your business as often as you can. It's a dying thing and it's a shame. I wish I had any shops nearby where I could just browse titles but instead I have to do it all online. Which is great in its own way too, I always know whats coming out and I can secure it if I want...but nothing tops picking things off a shelf and making a buy.
I agree! I love shopping online BUT nothing beats being on the hunt for physical media stores! and because it isnt there, people dont know how good 4k is!!
Thanks, Chase. As you were talking I realized how much I have learned from your show. I never knew what Arrow, Kino, 4k, and many other terms even meant just a few months ago. 😅 I told my mom about 4k the other day and she was like "What is that?" Honestly, I think because most towns no longer have movie rental stores anymore, a lot of people simply don't ever see DVDs anymore and we don't think about them. I had never heard of 4k until coming across your show a couple months ago. I didn't even know that many people even had DVD players anymore. So again, thanks for teaching me so much. It also doesn't help that Best Buy got rid of DVDs. A lot of B&N don't have DVDs either. These private boutiques are really special!! So much is on streaming, but like we saw with Chucky on Netflix last month...it can all be taken away. 2025 is my first year of beginning my collection and the Chucky collection up to the 7th movie, is where I'm starting. I'm getting a new 4k/Blu-ray/DVD player next month and eventually a 4k TV. Thanks again!
@@AVAPopCultureYes, I will slowly start a little personal theatre space. I remember when you did your video about the importance of physical media! I recently saw a great video from Joe Bob Briggs from about 4 years ago and he was saying the same thing you did, he went on this epic rant! You're both right!!!
A Simple Plan and The Invasion should not be mentioned in the same breath lol. It astounds me the amount of people I’m seeing that have not seen A Simple Plan! Y’all are in for a treat!
I like invasion too lol...looking forward to watch a simple plan...I am often surprised at a lot of movies I talk about and love that people have never seen! It happens!
I got the Pumpkinhead 4k steelbook a month ago at Walmart, it's been decades since I watched it. I don't have much money to buy movies, I still watch my DVDs from the 90s. I only buy movies I know I like and watch multiple times.
That's awesome that you found the Pumpkinhead 4K steelbook! It's not one that you can find really easy out "in the wild" ...movie collecting gets expensive, you have to pick the ones you will get the most out of!
As I have said we dont have any stores here selling physical media anymore. Been that way many yesrs. Sad but I am used to it now. I got my ”April fools day” purchase from Vinegar today. Lol. I love VS! It is the movie Side Tracks on bluray. But with an all white cover. On the cover is a mini package of crayons attached so you can make your own cover art! Genious! I laughed myself tired hehe!!
I think Brick is better than Knives Out. It is like a classic noir set in a modern high school and the costumes and dialogue are a blend of both settings. I would imagine this doesn't work for most who don't like it.
Theft is a huge problem for physical media, especially for 4K titles. In Canada we don't have much anymore in the way of retail options. Walmart was the last option and they've gone the way of the Dodo bird with 4K's, see the odd one there every once in a while - pretty much just DVD's and blu-rays. Talked to someone there a while back and they said whenever they try to stock them they're stolen right away, and they think they take them to a store that sells used movies to sell them. They said it's not worth it to confront them in the parking lot as they could pull out a knife. Pretty sad its got to where 4K's being stolen limits retail options
I blame legalizing some drugs in Murica. If a drug addict needs more drugs and has no money or job, what do you think they/them/he/she is going to do to acquire more drugs? I bought a few things off an app and the dude who sold me the items smelled like Marijuana.
Hey, nice video. I just recently found your channel, liked and subscribed. I wonder if you have heard any 4K plans for The Omen and Salems Lot 1979 mini series? I can't find anything online about it. I would love to see these on 4K. I see you're in Georgia. Been there a few times many years ago. The nicest state I've visited in your country. Greetings from Sweden! :)
greetings from Georgia!! Thank you so much for deciding to stick around and subscribe! As far as plans for The Omen and Salem's Lot, I have not heard anything....The Omen boxset on bluray is going Out of Print with Scream Factory which means we should see a 4k of it sooner rather than later.... Salem's Lot 1979 is one I have been asking about for a a while now... It was shot on film so it would make a great 4k restoration, so I am not really sure why there is a hold up on it....thanks again for the kind words!
A crazy hunt this time and maybe, almost, a big mistake! Pop that tape in, I got you, let's go do this!

A Simple Plan. Great buy! This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I bought both the BD and 4K when Arrow released this.

That's so cool that you are starting a collection and making it a goal to get a 4K TV! You are going to love it!

I just watched A Simple Plan a few days ago. I borrowed it from my local library. Great flick. Enjoy.

Wait for January, it's the %50 sale on arrow video at BN

Not a big rewatcher for me there lol. 😂
Chase in the wild is like a box of chocolates..😂
that's right man lol, you never know what you're gonna get!!!

Geez, 40 bucks each for those 4Ks.... Barnes and Noble are way too high.
Right!!? That's what I thought. But the last DVD I bought was 25 years old, and not a 4k. 😅
B&N is way too high! they mark everything up then put 30 and 40% off stickers on everything lol...
The Alex Ross artwork on the Universal Monsters steelbooks is fantastic. I wii get the mummy but it’s my least fav of the UM’s🧛♂️
I have that Godzilla criterion. Stealing that has to be tough. Thief’s and scalpers piss me off.

It’s really sad, especially in places that don’t have a lot of options for 4K!
@@AVAPopCulture Then online ordering becomes your option. I know it's not the same, but at least it's still an option
. . Are there special markings on all the different movies that help you see what's what? . . 😎
the 4k banner at the top of the slip covers and I was not even paying attention!! I almost missed it and bought blurays instead
My walmart has the Complete 30 movie Universal Monsters bluray set for $90
my walmarts stink compared to a lot of people's apparently lol
CEX in the UK have had a rise in thefts lately. They've had to start putting the discs behind the counter again. So sad.
so sad....
check Orbit for dollars trilogy w/slips, they were $13 ea, maybe used, can't remember
ehh, maybe those are gone. I thought about you when I saw them yesterday, sorry about that
Have you ever tried a Mohu antenna?

@AVAPopCulture Thank you! That sounds like good news. Let's keep our fingers crossed 🤞
Crime in Liberal areas is getting out of control. Shop in conservative places nothing is locked up.
