Medusa Shield should also be on this list. Same benefits as the Mirror Cuirass while allowing you the use of any armor, and also can deal damage.
But it looks ugly af.
It also cheeses the fuck out of Medusa.
Use its Shield Rod spell, hold that shield up, and the lasers will tear Medusa apart while her petrification beam does NOTHING to you.
@@yoshimallow even the first time I fought her, I don't think she ever hit me with that attack.
I used to love wielding two Runeswords like I was in a John Woo movie just chaining everything in my path. But Crissaegrim is still the Spread Fire of the entire franchise...
Walk armor should be the best armor because you can get it to 999 DEF with out of bound glitch
I've beaten this game at least 20 times and I LY one I'd even heard of was the Mirror Cuirass. Jeez. Always something. I was lucky and got a Crissaegrim on my first time through .
I remember thinking it was so cool to find a hidden Sword of Dawn aka Daybreak. If you did a hadoken, it would summon skeletons.
At the beginning of the game, rapier in the library, next were bane are the initial best weapons. After that, before crissaegrim, Chackram double equiped is the best initial finding (alowing to throw 4 of them while walking)
If you don't get the Jeweled knuckles from the secret room right before then. I do love me some rapiers.

the mirror cuirass armor only serves a while to beat dopplerganger 10 later if you are quite insistent or lucky the head jellyfish give you one of the best shields that in addition to attacking and turning enemies into stone gives you immunity against stone
when i turned into gargoyle stone i was like wtf did my game glitched out

Out these 4 I had only discovered the Rune Sword by accident back in the day which was awesome! But I had also discovered another equally cool sword that needs a mention, the Vorpal Sword that looked like Strider Hiryu's curved energy blade!

@@MattMcRiver Well from what I saw in another video, the Crisaegrim is basically the Vorpal Blade on steroids! There is no challenge in the game after getting that which I never found back in the day.
I like Marsil the most because it can hit multiple times in a single swing and with it's special attack, it creates a huge explosion around him and the the normal swing.
Though, it can only get on the inverted castle which there are more op than that weapon.
Dope sword imo. It's also not cheesy and still leaves challenge in the game.
I never could master using the bat as a charger like the wolve. And I'll play this game so many times😅 awesome game awesome soundtrack especially if you have a home surround sound system thundering Bass 42 band equalizer to tailor your sound. This is a masterpiece! I remember back in 99 working from Walmart they had a bunch of these games inside the glass door for only $7.99 each! I wish I could have gone back and bought every single one of them 🤦
Love this game. This game along with Zelda A link to the past are my all time favs.
Another monstrous weapon is "marsil" single fire sword that can burst and explode,
Mourneblade, a sword can lifesteal
Shield rod + alucard shield by tapping both weapon, alucard shield can be used as weapon ramming enemies with lifesteal
Best is the crissigrim.

Based on the time of the game when you can get them:
1. Jewel Knuckles
2. + 3. Shield Rod and Iron Shield
4. Osafune (unnecessary but you can infinitely spam its special for s)

Heaven sword is easily the best in this regard, you can get it your first time at clock tower, although it may take awhile for that fucker to drop it.
I just did a play through and got a couple heavens swords early and I can say none of those other weapons compare

Ah, the Duplicator, back when grinding for things was fun (it costs 300,000 gold), instead of necessary because we're on a gacha time system

As much as I played the game and saw tips, never saw that sword spell for the Heaven Sword.
special attack of heaven sword is not back forward attack. you must have both hands wearing heaven sword then press sqaure and circle together
Never seen those first two weapons in all the times playing SOTN, very interesting! Also, never knew you could use the bat speed so rapidly!
It takes dedication but, the strongest weapon is actually Muramasa. It strengthens with blood heals, a couple thousand of them. It will reach an attack of 999.

My favorite Cv weapon is the one from either Aria or Dawn of Sorrow, probably Dawn of Sorrow. I think you had to beat the game once in order to get all the materials, but it was the spear of Odin, or maybe just lightning spear, anyway, it shot lightning and fired a straight horizontal beam that went through obstacles

Well it is opinionated by the content creator. Like myself, I too love the Vorpal Blade. The Crissaegrim is badass but I prefer the single slash limit.

Didn't know that the ring of varda only drops on a cleared save.
you should just turn on the one relic that shows the damage every time you hit your opponent
I swear the only rare item I got(without even seeing its stats and equipped it anyways) was the ring of Varda, needless to say I wondered why the game was sooo easy for what was left of it, after finishing the game questioning its diffi ultyI found out that it was because of that ring lol
Now I can't de a 2nd run because using the ring made my base skills weak xD
You can only get it when the games cleared though......
@@williambubar4281 I played the playstore port, as a curious guy myself I always wiki'ed everything I found and every enemys drop(after seeing that there were rare drops) and from what ive seen in the different versions they didn't just change the consoles and some bugs but also the obtainancy of items ;)
@@williambubar4281 i bought this game in the psn store. A few days ago. I got the ring of cards yesterday without a clear. There are some differences from the original. There are 2 fairies. Where you fine the sword familiar originally is a second fairy
Equipping 2 ring of varda will turn you into a god of power haha
The Mirror Cuirass is only beneficial in the areas with the flying Medusa heads. Late in the game defence is far to low to be considered worthwhile. It's not even a rare item. The Walk Armor is by far the strongest if you make a point to get it early on otherwise the God Garb is the best rare armor. I can understand this all being based on opinion but I just can't get behind the armor choice.
I always loved the Heaven Sword and Runesword (Chakram, as well) but they are nowhere near the top 4 items in SotN.

Alucart swrd + shld + armor + ring of arcana + lapis lazuli... luckyyyy
Medusa Shield + Shield Rod = one hit kill on most bosses including the last.
Crissaegrim is definitely the best weapon.

Hahahahahahaha....... Being born in 82 and still being in middle school when this game came out. CV 1,3,4, and SOTN will always ring true when it comes to nostalgia. I play SOTN roughly 3-4x a year for the past 25 years. Lately my playthough consists of using the max luck code for 999 and have 2 Talisman's equipped while having nothing but a Vorpal Blade. Literally the only major damage you take is from spikes. Everything else is just absorbed, though I believe you can still be stoned from respected enemies. When you have played the game so many times, challenge limits and exceptions breath new life into a game that already has the life force of an Uzumaki.
what is the "luck code?"
currently replaying the game and it took me maybe 6 hours in all to get those two DAMN heaven's swords. more luck would have been nice.
Create a new file and type in: X-X!V’’Q. And you start the game with Max luck, when you play as alucard.

Why does nobody ever talk about the familiar sword after you get it to level 100 you can equip it to tour hands to use as a shield or I have seen it the shield rod with the Medusa shield I defeted Dracula when I was level I think 40 with these items my fastest speed run is probably the slowest speed run ever.

Anyone ever mod this? Extra castle layout and side quests style? I know there's modded FF Tactics, but haven't seen (or looked) mods for SOTN.
yeah they have a randomizer and a Chaos mod for it. Though I'm not the foremost expert on them. Check Dr4gonblitz out. Dude does hella content

When the drops are THAT rare, its a huge flaw...

EDIT: there is a really cool sword I never collected before in previous playthroughs, its called MARSIL...
The flame demon drops it in the necro lab....
Its not the most powerful but if you do the "hadoken" button input it sends a wave of flames across the entire screen for decent damage and uses very little MP... it also looks super cool when attacking... check it out!
How to bat Dash far?
You only need Duplicator and Monster Vial.
Monster Vial 3. Endless Bats
I did that with Power of Sire and cheesed the rest of the game.

i disagree with the Mirror Cuirass, cuz you still take damage and your defense is too low for late game like the clock tower or against medusa

Shield rod + alucard shield or Leveled up muramasa
Walk Armor

max luck talisman
Duplicator + Power os Sire or
Crissaegrim + Ring of Varda ( 2X )

the heaven sword dual is kinda crap i don't like it i like schmoos weapon loot or from the Dodo Bird the rune sword truly helps over high crit rates per swing

At first my pick was that armor that break thorns, but after I learned how to open the church door by shoving potion after transforming from bat to Alucard it became trash to me.
