3rd video I checked out to solve my deteriorated fuel lines. By far the best start to finish! Others just showed pulling lines through tank. Not how to get there and put back together! This is the only guy smart enough to force line down from outside. The others were all struggling to grab tip inside tank and pulling! Breaking end half the time!
    Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the instructions, after 5 years on the shed plus some others in the storage room , I gave a last change to that chainsaw . Once the cover was removed the fuel lines weren’t visible, all of them brake like dust. So after 10 years the chain saw resurrected and works fine. I didn’t need to replace the carburetor. Thanks again.

This video just saved my sanity. After Helene rolled through, chainsaw crapped out. Primer bulb cracked. BUT, when I went to replace just that, the fuel lines had disintegrated off the bulb and had pieces in the tank. Donated to your efforts and I truly thank you! Everything spot on and now the chainsaw is up an running again!

My wife just got one for free at a yard sale that was closing. I put gas and bar oil in it and primed (I could see gas inside bulb) 6 X, pulled choke out full, then pulled 4 more times, then set choke to 1/2 and pulled 2 more times and it fired right up, but dies in abut 5 seconds. 2 More tries like above and same results , runs for 5 seconds and dies.
Looks like I need to do the carb replacement. Excellent repair video, and the carb tune up kits are only about $15.

You know, most folks think these Poulans are crap. I disagree. My everyday saws are Stihl, but I have this saw, the P3314, in the back of my truck just for emergencies. It's fairly well made, fairly simple, easy to fix and made in America (Georgia, Arkansas and South Carolina). It's a good reliable saw, and no-one wants to steal it!

These saws have a problem with the gas cap getting difficult to turn in or out. It swells from exposure to gas. I remove it and drain the gas back into the gas can when I am not going to use it for a while. It works like a charm. And when I know I will use it again tomorrow I tilt the saw so the gas is away from the cap and that works good as well.

Very helpful video! On my 3314 I have a smaller diameter fuel line, so when I was replacing fuel lines (that had crumbled to pieces) I made incorrect assumptions, particularly that the fuel feed line (skinny) was the fuel return line and I thought there was NO WAY the fuel filter barb would squeeze into that little line. In your video the lines all appear to be the same diameter, but EVERYTHING else was the same, so your video helped me get the lines straightened out. As @45tommypickles pointed out, not editing out the dropped camera made me feel comfortable with your skills and knowledge. If I had a nickel for everything I knocked over or dropped, I could retire.

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  Год назад

if i had a nickle i could buy elon musk out. yeah some of these are a thinner line as fuel supply it can be the return though it makes no difference

Couldn't have done it without you! Still having issues getting my carb adjusted. But I do have a Question perhaps someone can answer please:
ANYONE - HELP PLEASE? HOW do you know which Sub-Model 3314 you have?
I ask as mine has nothing like the Top Linkage yo show on your --at about 18:00 where he clips off the wire. I have only a Plastic Lever on top that engages at high throttle...no link at all, just a Roller engages the lever at high RPM. There are other small differences as well, which I put down to the sub-model...but is there a way to ID which one yo have, so that you order the right parts?
Thanks for ANYONE that may have suggestions.

    • @smallengineguys

the wired carb is the replacement of the roller carb.

dealing with a shitload of trees in PEI...the P3314 is a bear to start. sometimes it goes on first pull after choke..sometimes is just plain won't start. I took off the cover over the plug exposing the carb...noticing a fair amount of fuel in the area in front/below the carb. does that usually mean the fuel lines are shot?

Great Video. Only one thing I would add. When adjusting fuel screws you should have the filter and filter cover in place. It effects the amount of air going through the carb. The small filter cover not the big outer cover.
I have a problem with the fuel screws turning while using the saw so I have to readjust them again.

@@smallengineguys Well - I ordered and installed an Amazon replacement carb Hayskill 545070601 for P3314. Piece of junk...the choke will not seat in the throttle when pull out...and then will not release when pushed in. The throttle link was too long...as you pointed out and I clipped off. Now the choke butterfly will not close. I got it running and H/L set but not running smooth and the starting is a pain. So sending back for refund. My question is what is the best carb to order? Most seem made in china, but a variety of price points. You video is hands down the best and most complete video out there. Give me some guidance. Thanks
