My calves blew up doing muay thai lol. Im pretty shredded right now and yeah my shoulders/traps are a lot bigger
Depends, my calves look like Varga's even after further calf raises. Bad body building genetics but super springy
but is it asymmetrical? because you work 1 calf mostly or at least you work them differently for sure
@@yagzyalcntas553 no, its usually pretty symmetrical. I've found that jumping rope is what gets the calves big and keeps them pretty symmetrical. The kickboxing doesn't grow them further disproportionately.
Same my calves grew doing Muay Thai
I started 2 months ago and I've noticed my calves are soooo sore for the next 2 days 😮
I always tell people that doing these combat sports will get them more shredded than any exercise regimen they can get into
Yeah but to get these results you have to be committing way more hours than the average person can/ wants to do
No, it's just that you have to train as well as actually put that training to use, so you're just working your body more. You can get just a shredded, or more with a bodybuilding routine but I guarantee you it's not going to give you the same applicable strength
You can get a lot out of it just spending an hour or two a few days a week either in a gym or on a bag. Still a good amount of time but similar to what many people spend at a gym lifting weights
False: calisthenics
Depends, if you diet correctly then sure it will, however many people do not have the integrity to keep up a high-performance diet and therefore will never be shredded. This guys advice only applies to the 5% of people that will put forth 110% effort day in, day out. For the other 95% attempting a combat sport, it ain’t gonna happen.
For many many years I trained in kickboxing / Gung fu and I can definitely say everything you said is true, to this day at 65 I can still train my skills, iam a little slower to heal but still working out my oxygen level is 98 -100 % and iam still able to do 75 jumping Jack's non stop so that's part of my workout. I even beat covid 19 after being on ventilation in ICU for 12 days .

@chikomba6858 hey brother, kickboxing 3 times a week and resistance train 3 times a week
100% a few hours a week of being on my toes for kickboxing grew my calves so much, calf machines didn't have anywhere the same gains
This comment is so true! We see a lot of those skinny thai guys with massive calves from training Muay Thai only. 😆 Edit: but better than big calves, it's strong and explosive af.
I think calves get worked when throwing savage round kicks - not only on the supporting leg as it pivots but the throwing leg as it pushes off the floor.

Usman definitely got the best physique in the ufc
I only say that bc his triceps and biceps look like a bodybuilders and he has abt the same chest and core as edwards with edwards having slightly more aesthetic abs
I love it when people know i fight based off my physique
Shoulder and calves have improved significantly since starting my mixed martial arts journey
I know this short is targeted towards people dying for aesthetics, but IMHO the main benefit of kickboxing is hip strength and flexibility of the lower body. This is something extremely difficult to learn/rectify the older you get

I think mostly 6 packs depend on genetics but you can definitely get a strong core
body fat percentage, not genetics, everyone has abs, but with less fat its more visible
@@ahmaddeham_ not sure if you read correctly, everyone has abs correct. But Not everyone has a six pack because your genes determine how much bands of connection tissue you have in ur abs . I started kickboxing and I'm sore in those exact areas 😂 plus the bottom of my feet and my calves... I can barely walk haha and I do pilates, weights and streghtening exercises before kickboxing 😅
I’m 40 this year. Don’t do kickboxing but done many other styles over the years. I get my physique from body building but I get what you mean with the sport. The more you move the more you burn, you get a pretty good lean muscle mass from the cal burn. Keep up the good work. And fyi to the dude in the comments you don’t have to be young to get shredded or build muscles. If that’s something you want to achieve then go for it lad! You can do it absolutely no bother 😃

Balance and Coordination is a plus also

Where are these shoulders you speak of?
What I like about it versus boxing it’s more complete physically. But one must absolutely train both sides of not they end up like me: screwed up on one side
As a boxer I have a similar situation, I didn't get into boxing to look good but I've never been as in love with my body as I have been from doing it. I don't eat really eat often so I naturally have low body fat but still, just a few weeks of boxing was enough to get me into pretty fucking good shape, the exercise are killer though
Love your videos
4) Terrible neck posture from constantly tucking your chin
I want Varga´s shoulders
Damn i love this dude thanks
Totally agree ....im a kickboxer too and im looking better than ever
i was informed i had a naturally disadvantaged build for kickboxing.
my legs, arms, and subsequent reach are pretty much evenly proportionate with my height, however my thighs and calves have been bulked to the max from all the rugby, and basketball i played as a kid.
my back, traps and shoulders are disproportionately large compared to my chest and core muscles, and although i find i can generate a lot of power from almost all angles i test, i do find it incredibly difficult to work on speed and consistency because my hips and torso just don't have enough strength to move my legs in a smooth, technical, and quick fashion.
i find myself resorting to simple, effective combinations that i can defend and counter from as well.
but i would really love to learn spin kicks, jumping kicks, flying knees etc.
love my basics but am struggling to work on the muslces needed for the higher tier kickboxing/muay thai/TKD combinations. any help?
Agreed!! I don’t workout nearly as much as my friends but because I train I’ve unintentionally created abit of a V taper physique and my abs and shoulders are always burning and developing. Still working on gaining more size to have more weight to throw around against the bigger guys though 😅
Weighted calisthenics is king:
ruclips.net/video/AeB4znuGuSo/видео.html
At a certian level its all about frames. You can eat your way up to heavyweight but if you are a middle weight frame its pretty much selecting survival difficulty. Its more so about bones than muscle, which is why most guys do the exact opposite, they get as skinny as they can to have reach advantage per their weight class. Like tommy hearns making 145lbs and being a tall skeletal figure, sure he couldve been more muscular and fought at 175 but he was so OP at 145 cause his frame was just huge.
Only a rare few have gained weight above their natural class such as holyfield who came up with muscle, james toney who just ate his way up, and even roy jones jr who only did it for one fight
Great video sir 🙌🏽🥀
Kickboxing will build muscle endurance, and obviously burn lots of calories making you fitter and healthier. For most people though, if you actually want to build muscle this isn’t the way
Exactly
Fantastic 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great background music
Been doing Muay Thai for 12 years…have huge shoulders and huge calves…no abs and a very weak back 😂
From my experience, striking sports in general make you extremely skinny but ripped and a lot stronger than they look. The endurance needed to fight really eats away a lot of muscle and fat. They look like skin, small defined muscles, and bones. So you'll see guys shrink and have small tight defined muscles, which is perfect, because I've noticed that the skinnier the guy gets the more UNGODLY the speed/reflexes they have and they can keep that speed throughout a long fight. What people don't talk about is just how tight and hard those little muscles are, and how disproportionately strong they are compared to their size. Those small super defined muscles all over their bodies are hard as a rock, and they are MUCH MUCH stronger than they look. As far as which muscles are the strongest and most pronounced on an elite striker are all the core muscles, the front and rear delts, and the lats. Which makes perfect sense as the core is where power is generated, the delts for extending and retracting the arms, and the lats to anchor the delts to the core. You'll generally see strikers with stick figure legs, small arms, skinny but muscular traps/necks, super defined abs, thick delts, and thick lats. The limbs staying small/lacking mass(but rock hard) and the core being super strong gives them ungodly speed in their arms and the ability to almost "whip" their strikes due to the difference in mass. The lats anchor the core to the delts and transfer the most power to the delts. The huge delts are like super strong springs. So, an ideal striker in my mind is tall, lanky, super skinny small legs, skinny small defined arms, defined but not thick traps/neck, super defined abs, protruding delts, and disproportionately huge thick lats. The number one tell tale sign for an elite striker in my mind is when you can actually notice the rear delts and lats popping out of their back. That's a red flag for knock out power to me. Even in kickboxing, the legs are a little bit thicker, but still skinny, small, well defined, and rock hard for the same "whip" reason I explained above for the arms. Wrestlers on the contrary tend to be just a little bit shorter but thicker everywhere. Their backs, lats, core, traps, glutes, and quads are a LOT thicker than strikers which gives them ungodly strength compared to speed. Their arms don't necessarily have to be huge because wrestlers power also comes from their core. All their muscles are rock hard as well, but they actually look like they should be rock hard. A tell tale sign of an elite wrestler to me are HUGE traps, and super WIDE lats. Which makes sense because wrestlers use a lot of strong pulling movements in different directions in the neck area. So, strong traps help defend their posture and anchor to their lats which are super strong pulling muscles that can generate a lot of power in different directions. These are my opinions.
Wow bro straight to the point
That sounds very well thought through and logical. Nice to see an in-depth analysis here.
