It’s crazy how up and down baseball numbers are. Guys go off one year, you think that’s gonna be their norm, and then they fall off a cliff. No great season in MLB should ever be taken for granted
My dad said before Game 2 that he really didn't feel like the Astros team this year was making it out of the first round. He's been a fan since the 70s when he wasn't even 10. To hear that out of his mouth immediately told me that we might be done this year. Small hope in the 7th crushed by the 4 run 8th by the Tigers. I can be happy that the Astros at least bounced back during the season to make it to October again, but they just ran out of fight or did not have the fight in them for October. Pitching injuries could've rivaled LA's pitching injuries this year, and our offense wasn't as hard hitting as years prior. Bregman may leave, and who knows about offseason moves this winter. Regardless I stuck it out till the end and painfully watched that last out yesterday. Still gonna be a Stros fan for like like my dad, and here's to hoping they improve next year.
People are really overreacting to this. Detroit was the best team in the AL after the All Star break. There's nothing wrong with losing to them, especially in a 3 game series where their lack of starting pitching didn't hurt them at all. Detroit 39-26 +47 run differential Houston 38-27 +42 New York Y 36-28 +41
As a Yankees fan I’m so happy they are gone. They are such a powerhouse, I hate them because of how good they are, not the cheating. They have owned my teams ass for the last 7 years. Great organization, great fanbase, great city. They will bounce back and be good again soon, that’s what winning organizations do.
@@johntorres532Thanks bro, I respect your guy’s team, fanbase, and city at the end of the day. Baseball’s just a game, it’s not worth being angry over it.
The team felt off this year. Even when they start winning in may. Maybe the reason is the inconsistency of the offence and the unreliability of the bullpen. Specially Ryan Pressly. He was one of the best and even when he's doing bad this year it seems like espada put his trust on him like he was in his prime. Abreau was not good as expected . I think bullpen really needs to be upgraded. If penea's batting became reliable as the beginning of 2024 I think the offence problem will probably be fixed.
i was at game 2. as an astros fan, it almost felt like a dream when the tigers hit the base clearing double. that .5 inning with the lead felt so good, the crowd was electric, but presley and hader sold come clutch time…
Astros fan here and you were right on point. I had been screaming from the rooftops all year long that this Astros team was not of the same makeup as the years past squads. I understand it’s extremely hard to win every year, and they should be very proud of what they have accomplished. However, there was something missing badly this year. The bottom of their batting order was brutal. Overall, their offense sucked. Here’s a stat that embodies exactly what I’m talking about. The Astros record this year after trailing by two or more runs going into the eighth inning: 0-58. Pathetic.
And just so you know now Cleveland is experiencing the same affect from the AJ Hinch school of schooling as it pertains to how to pitch with a goat and a bunch of kids 😂😂😂😂😂 Don't feel bad Houston.
u hit the nail right on the head with this team... seemed like no hunger all year long. especially playing teams with losing records.. I know people hate us, hell MLB hates us(replays). But Stros have a lot to work on, No Javie,Luis, or JP France.. the hell with Mcacullers he's damaged Chinese goods.. I believe if Bregman doesn't resign then its the end of an era.not because of him of course, but I believe theu will not have any drive left.. great run.. Go Stros!!!
Top heavy lineup that got on base a lot, but then the black hole from 5-9 would strand them. In the second half of the season they were 3rd in hits, but 15th in runs.
This team is about 3 personnel changes away from being able to maintain a winning team (remember, as bad as the Astros were, look at the 2024 rangers). Obviously the 1B situation has not been what it should, if Bregman leaves, an acceptable, younger alternative is not impossible, and pitching has and is still a problem. A management change is a no-brainer and something has to be done about the lack of hitting, be it new hitting coaches or a new approach to the offense strategy. But co.pared to the Mariners and Rangers this is not an insurmountable problem
I wasn’t too happy with Espada, he’s a good assistant manager but not the manager. I had always wanted Hinch back. Also I think JV and Bregman will be gone, they were the highest paid on the team. With the money saved, Astros need a good 1B and need to keep Tucker and Kikuchi. I’m hoping Astros drop McCullers, he hasn’t played since 2022.
@@timmyg831 Astros definitely need to part ways with LMJ. He's too injury prone now and hasn't contributed a ton in recent years. Bregman probably walks and Tucker most likely stays. 1st base is an issue, but Singleton seems to be improving as he goes along. Not saying Singleton is the long term, but he is a good stand in right now. Kikuchi needs to stay because in his 10 regular season starts in Houston, the Astros won 9 of those games. Also need to improve the bullpen a bit, nothing crazy but a few nice pieces that can put in work and are reliable
Rangers will be fine when they get a full healthy team and a set roster. this season was basically a trial run for the rangers rookies most of the season due to injuries. Both the Astros and Rangers should be competitive next year
As a Rangers fan, we just thankful we finally won. We don’t win that often but oh well it’s just a game. But good fucking god, when Astros don’t win their fans throw tantrums. Like full-blown tantrums. I’ve never seen a fanbase (other than the Cowboys) where people like lose it when they don’t go to the WS every year 😂 it’s quite pathetic really.
@@trippietoadie1296I don’t see it that way lost of fan bases do that like the dodgers, Phillies and Yankees which in fact is pathetic but the thing is anything the Astros do people bash on for since they cheated which is understandable because they cheated but at the same time so did the Yankees in 2015 and 2016 and so did the Red Sox 2018 which they don’t get bashed for I see the Yankees more because they didn’t win the world series but the Red Sox did they didn’t get much hate compared to the Astros
If this is the end of the golden era for the Astros I am extremely thankful for all the great memories and fun I have had watching the Astros since 2017. Some of the most fun moments of my entire life. No matter what, I will always be an Astros fan. Thank you Houston
Astros fan and honestly kinda chalked this season up to growing pains. New skipper at the helm, lots of new faces, injuries galore. The core of the dynasty years is dwindling. Not surprised by their performance this year. They did make a great run despite stumbling out of the gate, but I never saw them as a post-season contender.
One thing to mention is that injuries killed this team and still we’re able to win the division I can only imagine if the Astros had a healthy roster next season
It shows how weak this division was. And what a mirage the Rangers were. But hey, the Astros losing percentage at home playoff games is still mind-boggling.
I think the radio announcer for the orioles said it best yesterday. This playoff system is designed for the best teams to lose because there's teams coming in that shouldn't even be there. They know it, and there's no pressure because they have nothing to lose.that allows them to play loose and gives them the advantage.
Yeah that’s part of it put at the same time it’s also designed for the best team wild card team to play the worst so although Detroit had momentum the Astros still should’ve taken care of business
I just think that’s flat out stupid. If a team is good, then they should perform like it. If Baltimore was genuinely better than Detroit, then why didn’t they win? At the end of the day the players still need to play the game regardless of who it’s against.
@@SamuelDiaz21 Dude, 6 of the 8 wild card series that have happened since 2023, the Home teams with higher Records have lost lol. 7 of 8 of these series have ended in Sweeps lol. I think there is some merit to what they are saying. It was literally designed to cause major upsets. A 3 game series isn't a lot, it doesn't let the teams with deeper pitching get a chance to clobber the weaker teams in game 3 or 4, nor does it give the batters a chance to face the weaker teams lack of pitching depth.
As an Astros fan this season really sucked but there were some positives to look at. I really hope Dana Brown resigns Bregman(nobody else to play 3B, nobody in the farm and no better 3B coming in FA) I also hope he dishes out some money to Kikuchi, he's expressed he'd like to stay. He was so solid for the Astros, 9-1 in games he started is really good especially since Kikuchi was having a below average year before that.
Disappointing season from my boys, I’m kinda hopeful for next year cuz we gonna get all our pitchers back, if we don’t sign breggy tho it’s gonna be a rough few years
As an Astros fan I was getting ready for you to take more little digs at this team, especially considering the title of the video. But when you said the Astros were like "Shit, alright we'll take it." That... is actually 100% correct. The hitting needs a completely philosophical change this off-season and the guys need to get cocky again (especially Bregman if he returns) But yeah, 2024 'Stros were largely BLAH.
Ok, I want to preface this with the fact that I love your channel and have agreed with some of your thoughts on the Astros in the past, but I feel like this one is just wrong. I seriously doubt anyone would believe that the Astros don't like winning at home and actively try to lose at home, that just doesn't make sense. And as for the lack of drama, I personally disagree, I'm not one to care too much about what team we're playing other than obvious rivals, I just want to see good ball, and that first game had me standing on my feet in the bottom of the ninth with bases loaded and Jason Hayward up, that lineout was a difference of 3-5 feet from winning us that game potentially, that is drama. The second game was also pretty insane even though we let it get away from us in the 8th, a fantastic 7th inning with a fantastic bunt from Dubon to load the bases with no outs down 1. Singleton then tied the game with what I considered an error but the first baseman made a great stop. The Altuve comes up and you think he just pops out but Peña decides to tag up even though it's shallow and barely makes it in to take the lead. That's drama, and I think these guys are extremely passionate and love their city. Sincerely, A passionate Astros fan
@@marshalbaek5580no he talking about like a set center fielder I’m pretty sure they had 3 in the rotation which all did great defense but offense wasn’t amazing
Astros ran into the wrong team for a game 3 series. They'd be pounding Cleveland right now if it wasn't for having faced the one-two punch of Skobel and a rested Det bullpen game, both of which neutralized the offense. But in a longer series, that doesn't work.
You should start a new series breaking down playoffs from years past. Start like in 1990 and do a 10-15min video on the 1990 playoffs, then 1991 and so on. I think they could be really popular
5:10 all that about Yordan and no mention of him hitting for the cycle? Granted he got the triple because J-Rod got hurt, still counts as a triple and he hit for the cycle that game.
@@gradyjones7017 um no. The Tigers were made for a best of 3 series. Throwing Skubal out there for game 1 and a rested bullpen for game 2 panned out exactly how i envisioned it. The offense has been too inconsistent and they didn't capitalize on the little chances they got. Something that had been a problem the first half of the season. The Astros are made for a longer series, Detroit isn't. Had they not been a disaster early on this wouldn't have been an issue. Espada had nothing to do with his pen blowing games all year or his offense leaving too many damn RISP.
Yeah, this ending makes the Loperfido trade feel so much worse :/ Hopefully the front office will actually make intelligent moves to put the team back amongst the favorites, something I never felt they really were all year long.
Brother, as an astros fan, you nailed this video. We all knew what this team was. We just hoped a last spark could be captured but no one was holding their breath.
As a Yankees fan, it blows my mind how people are still obsessed with the Astros cheating. Everyone with a brain knows they weren’t the only team doing this. They continued to produce and made everyone cry like little bitches but the crying still goes on.
Anyone with a brain would know that there's levels to cheating. I'm sure your girl wouldn't divorce you if she caught you looking at a chick. If she caught you in bed with one tho? See the difference?
MLB should just consider 2017 as the trashcan year and discount the championship that year. Let's take away the trophies from that year and maybe people will forget and forgive.

Fire Hader and Presley. Fire Espada, get a real GM. And get Jeff Bagwell OUT OF THE FRONT OFFICE. And dammit get a decent hitting coach and pitching coach. This organization has gotten to comfortable and needs to shake things up. Still a lot of talent but it is being managed poorly.

It will be a bust for that team. He's at the point in his career where he has achieved everything he wanted. He has nothing left to pursue except padding his wealth. He's earned that right I suppose. Honestly I see him either staying with the Astros or going to the tigers. Bregman would get to play with his old coach and I could see verlander signing there as well on a cheap deal to finish his career.
Astros Fan here. I actually think you left out the bad managerial decisions done all year. I agree with what you said 100%. This year, it seemed J. ESPADA was too patient with Abreu, JV as well and maybe sent McCormick to the minors too late in the season. The way Pressly would leave the bases loaded or runners in scoring position then exit all pissed off when he was pulled out, showed that he never really accepted his role as the set up and didn't respect the manager. Harden has been knowing to get you 30-35 saves per year and a K machine, BUT he is also know to give a lot of HRs. So why would the Manager bring him in with runners in scoring position 🤔 knowing is a 50/50. Makes no sense.
This team was super banged up. They lost LMJ, Luis Garcia, Christian Javier(the guy with that one no-no in the WS you might not know about), and Jose Urquidy. That's enough to form another team's starting rotation. Oh and Kyle Tucker was out since May and only came back towards the end. That "we'll take it, I guess". They were the best team in June/July. They fizzled out at the end of August/September, but I disagree with some of your points here. The fact they even got to their record is almost a miracle in of itself. Basically this video comes across as "This team was not good, my reasons are ehhh, shaky, I give credit where it's due but I don't really believe wwhat I say." Idk, i'm just speculating. This team was hella fraudulent, but when you have that much going against you, I'm honestly surprised they even got in to begin with.
Our bats are lame. No way around it. 3rd in hits, but 15th in runs for the season. Not a single grand slam, a feat we haven’t seen since the 90s. Pitching was not nearly as big an issue this year.
An Astros fan but as a fan of. Sports I realized you can't always win sometimes the ball doesn't bounce your way. There were no magic moments very few comebacks and no grand slams
I think this season from the Astros proves that our front office needs to make more aggressive moves this offseason. Resign kik he was great with us resign bregman and go out and get a better first baseman. Joe espada is a rookie manager and that showed this year with how he managed the club all year. 2025 is around the corner don’t be surprised to see the Astros back in the playoffs again
Injuries, injuries, injuries. Most of the Starter pitching didn’t even play this year. depleted starting pitching staff. Thanks, Lance McCullers. A depleted injury outfield. The team with Kyle Tucker were losing and when he came back surprise surprise they start losing again.
I love the Astros but the 2024 team was just not it... Their offense was not gonna get them very far even if they beat the Tigers and advanced. They 100% needed a swift kick in the ass so maybe losing the Wild Card to a team they easily could've beat will be good for them
The offense felt so stale and inconsistent this year and pitching really took off the second half but man playing at home has always been a problem and they lack drive after so many postseason runs
This year wasn't boring to me, but it was compared to previous years. In the last 10 years, the Astros have won and lost in each type of playoff round, including missing the playoffs, at least once. Hopefully, The Run can continue, but we'll see what happens. I think baseball is the hardest sport there is to remain this consistent. In October baseball, it's very difficult to predict who will advance and who will step up. That's why it's my favorite sport. It wasn't the Astros year this year, but good luck to the rest of the teams.
A video about Houston 9:38 long, and the team that eliminated them didn't get a mention until 8:15 in. And the fact that the manager of Detroit was with Houston when they were winning championships went unmentioned.
As an Astros fan, it was an incredible run for us from 2017-2024. Sadly, not all dynasties last forever. The Astros have been bad at home for several years now, especially when it mattered the most, the postseason. They have improved slightly this year in that area, but they’re still a long way to go. The injuries really hurt this team, which made them inconsistent this year, especially on offense. Not to mention the injuries in the starting rotation. They’re rumors that some of the starters who are injured might retire and never pitch again. Every team may be happy that they’re eliminated early, but they should respect them on how they handled a lot of adversity when it comes to the cheating scandal, and embracing the villain arc, and they kept winning. What would happen in 10 years from now if no one from 2017-2024 plays for the Astros anymore? Will they still boo them in 2034 or later? That would be dumb. And credit to the Tigers, they deserved it. To me, baseball is a game of momentum. When you catch fire, good things will happen.
Yea this year felt just boring, like the team feels like they’ve accomplished all they’ve wanted to and don’t really care about what they did this year. Most of these dudes have experienced it all in Houston and probably don’t have the want to win anymore. An aging core and depleted farm system, along with Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman as free agents, the future looks bleak in Houston. I wonder at what point do you call it a dynasty and start a rebuild. Jim Crane needs to accept where this Houston team is heading and prepare for it because I don’t know how many random breakout stars they can pull out of their back pocket.
2017- Springer, Bregman, Altuve, trash cans, Verlander, etc were 🔥. City was electric. Stockton Rush at GM and a hurricane that made anything possible. 🌀🗑️🥁🏆
A two game sample size doesn't mean much other than that they lost. I'm sad, but that's baseball. I think they still have the resources to compete, especially since the division is a joke. I love how Jim Crane spends money, avoiding huge contracts. Obviously, contracts like Jose Abreu's and LMJ's were huge missteps, but overall, I like the strategy.
On one hand, I love the Yankees not having to face the Astros. On the other hand, now the Yankees have to face the Royals and will probably play terribly anyway.
@@THEAmateurSommelier It's so odd because I was so use to the Yankees beating the crap out of us for 40 years that I'm still nervous when we play them. Imagine how bad the Seattle Mariners must feel. They blew a 10 game lead to the Astros, missed the playoffs altogether, and saw the Astros get eliminated immediately.
The thing is, Ibanez was sat down with 1 ball and 3 strikes before he hit the bases clearing hit... or he should have been, had the call have been correct. My son is a Tigers fan, but with correct umpiring, the inning was over and it was still 2-2. Tigers also got a strike call the next inning that was further outside (and not a strike) than Hader's pitch.
The whole season was gears grinding on metal. Nothing sync'd up. No way we were going to beat NY/LA/SD...are most assuredly would not have gotten past Guardians. I like Hinch, so best of luck to DET. The beautiful thing about baseball is it all resets next year on April 1. I would kind of like to see NY/LA.
The Jose Abreu signing was a boat anchor of us. Was never much of a fan of signing Hader for that much money as well. I would like to see them resign Bregman and let Tucker walk but I have a feeling Bregman is going to be on another team next year. Pulling for the Tigers and Brewers at this point.
To be honest, the 2020 Astros wasn't as exciting as they were, ended their season with 29-31 record, being below .500 but ended up beating the AL West Division title, the Oakland A's and almost came back from a 3-0 series lead for the Rays until Astros lost in Game 7 of the ALCS. So 2024 felt the same way for Astros as 2020 was. But congrats to Tigers for eliminating the Astros before they make it to ALCS. First time, no Astros in ALCS since 2016.
This Tigers team reminds me of the 2010 Giants. A band of misfits that can win gritty, close games. The way they responded in the 8th after that botched play at the plate in the 7th shows championship mettle.
As an Astros fan, you could not have summed this up more perfectly. I couldn’t find the words for it, but everything you said was spot on. It was just…..meh
I think what we've seen in the WC round is that the Astros and Orioles are good teams that were buoyed by a less than stellar AL East and a dumpster fire of an AL West.
As an Astros fan, I agree on all points. I thought the Mariners should have won our division. I knew we were not going to go far because it felt like we didn't belong in the play-offs. I do think it will feed the hunger of the team next year. But if the Mariners can pick up a couple of bats, and keep everyone else, they will be tough to beat. Last thought; you gotta love the Tigers. A bunch of players making their names for themselves in real time. Always magical. I hope they win it all. I hope we don't get a Yankees - Dodgers WS. It would be great to see a Tigers - Padres WS. Or a Royals - Brewers WS. There are some great games coming up on both sides of the bracket. It will be fun to watch.✌️
Crazy how when they won at home in the playoffs was when they were getting signs relayed to them from a video camera in center field and banging on trash cans.
They always have been bad at home. They won in 2017 on the road. In 2018 the lost every home game in the ALCS. In 2019 they lost every home game in the WS. In 2021 they only won 1 home game in the WS 2022 was the only year they were good at home, the year they didn't cheat lol. In 2023 and 2024 they lost every home game. Clearly, the cheating system wasn't that good lol.
2022 Astros seems like forever ago. 106-56 record, top-seeded AL team, dominant pitching, nearly sweeping every team in the postseason. This Astros team is far from that.
I agree with almost everything in the video. But no, the Astros offense was NOT good this year. Hits are nice, but if they can’t become runs, you don’t score. You don’t score, you don’t win. Period. Fun fact: this is the first year that the Astros have gone a whole season without a grand slam since the 90s.
Disagree, the Astros were the second best team in the AL over the second half of the season. They just got unlucky and faced the best AL team in a short series where the Astros' strength (starting pitching depth) couldn't shine.

Detroit 39-26 +47 run differential

The Cal Raleigh "It's always good when the Astros lose" quote is both a curse and a blessing. 😭
Meanwhile the Mitch Haniger "we know we're a better team than Detroit" is just a curse
@@T_K7 Damn right.
As a life long Astros fan... this team needs a HUGE revamp. Were "good" now but we need to be better, like we were
Nah we need Houston to suck ass again lol scumbags cheaters they’ll be forever.
i was at game 2. as an astros fan, it almost felt like a dream when the tigers hit the base clearing double. that .5 inning with the lead felt so good, the crowd was electric, but presley and hader sold come clutch time…
Astros fan here and you were right on point.
I believe if Bregman doesn't resign then its the end of an era.not because of him of course, but I believe theu will not have any drive left.. great run.. Go Stros!!!
The Astros were actually much improved at home this year. They just couldn't score.
Top heavy lineup that got on base a lot, but then the black hole from 5-9 would strand them. In the second half of the season they were 3rd in hits, but 15th in runs.
@@caffynated8046 Yep Altuve was top 5 in hits, but he had a very low number of runs compared to his hits lol.
@@caffynated8046Well said.
We also had a closer who couldn’t close.

12 teams in the post-season. This is all part of our “everyone gets a trophy” society. Total crap.
Maybe i'm a fan of the 3 division winners and 1 wild card for the playoffs
Just make the division series 7 instead of 5

See what happens when you have Hader pitch more than 3 outs... Implosion! 😂😂

Sincerely,
A passionate Astros fan

Astros ran into the wrong team for a game 3 series. They'd be pounding Cleveland right now if it wasn't for having faced the one-two punch of Skobel and a rested Det bullpen game, both of which neutralized the offense. But in a longer series, that doesn't work.
I've projected this era of the Houston Astros as an AL West counterparty of the 1990s Atlanta Braves.
Its almost as if they got tired of winning and going deep into the playoffs😂

The "Alright, shit we'll take it I guess" is so accurate
Injuries, injuries, injuries. Most of the Starter pitching didn’t even play this year. depleted starting pitching staff. Thanks, Lance McCullers. A depleted injury outfield. The team with Kyle Tucker were losing and when he came back surprise surprise they start losing again.
I love the Astros but the 2024 team was just not it... Their offense was not gonna get them very far even if they beat the Tigers and advanced. They 100% needed a swift kick in the ass so maybe losing the Wild Card to a team they easily could've beat will be good for them
I hope they wake up too. The offense didn’t hit a grand slam this year. The last time that happened was in the 90s.
They didn’t know what pitches were coming

This year's Astros cemented that they were only a playoff team due to "leading" the AL Worst

That’s what happens when you overpay subpar players. They got their phat contracts and now they make low budget H-E-B commercials and get fat.
Yep. Not hungry. Hader sucks also. He did not show me at all this year he was worth it. I swear every appearance has him giving up at least a run.
This Tigers team reminds me of the 2010 Giants. A band of misfits that can win gritty, close games. The way they responded in the 8th after that botched play at the plate in the 7th shows championship mettle.

As Astros fan I’m not mad anymore cause I’m use to teams likes Texans and rockets losing for tears
Don’t worry Astros fans, your Astros are gonna wake up on game 3- I mean whoops! 😂😂😂
@@beerussama7093 I'm not going to admit I forgot it was 2 out of 3...😆. Hey, the Tigers deserved it. I hope they win it all.
As an Astros fan this definitely wasn’t a world series team with the inconsistent offense I hope tigers win it all
The pitching from bullpen wasn’t good too. Just a bad season for Astros standard. I think Tigers will make it to WS
Disagree, the Astros were the second best team in the AL over the second half of the season. They just got unlucky and faced the best AL team in a short series where the Astros' strength (starting pitching depth) couldn't shine.
@@caffynated8046 I mean the tigers are a very good team rn but idk to me even in the 2nd half there was games they should have won but they didn’t getting swept by the reds and the way they did was not okay
@@caffynated8046Let’s not forget that our standing in the AL got that way because of the Mariners losing, not just us winning games. We would have never touched the postseason if we were in the NL.
@@Thecorbinnator I believe its 1984 all over again for the Tigers.
Why we can't win at home in the playoffs is mind boggling
Thank you Detroit for winning
Astros are amazing and if you think this is the last of it… think again! 😂 let’s go Astros!!!❤ super proud them!!!
Poetic justice for Hinch to come back after being canned by the team he managed to a World Series title* and beat them in their own backyard
I think this is it though, they were the team to oust the Astros but I think they are done-zo
They’ll be back. Enjoy the playoffs while your team is there. Can’t be mad after the last 7 years the have had.
