OH... MY .... GOD.... I never even put that together!!! No wonder why she goes to the doctor for every little thing! I'm sure miscarrying before having any children really shook her belief in her capabilities as a mother, no wonder why she has all those books about development.... She's trying so hard to reassure herself and feel in control because an event like that can make you feel so out of control and afraid that something could go wrong so suddenly out of nowhere... Going to say something here on that. In Australia we have a maternal health nurse who you HAVE to see if you have a baby. They practically ham fist miles stones and baby development stages down your throat and there are many first time mums get overloaded with so much unneeded information that's not relevant making you feel like your a bad parent - though it depends on the nurse you get too. I have two kids, one lady I had was fantastic, the other made me so paranoid and pressured as a parent to have my baby grow up in a certain way and it was an awful experience. The amount of pressure on mum's is absolutely crazy at times, hell I had problems with my mother with my first one, making that living hell because I wasn't parenting the way she had. This episode REALLY spoke to me because of all this and seeing the pressure Chill felt as a parent hits super hard. People put so much pressure on new mum's instead of supporting them.... that NEEDS TO CHANGE.

This discussion has actually given me food for thought on my own mother. TL;DR, Thank you.
I am the oldest in my family and on the Autism spectrum. But as my mom would often mention when I was young, if it weren't for being miscarried I would have had an older brother, the name already decided on was Benjamin. My neurodiversity was evident from an early age, and one of my mother's greatest strengths raising me was her independence in using what she saw working instead of relying on traditional wisdom (because frankly I was a pretty bizarre child).
That said, she struggled with emotional and cognitive instability, and continues to do so (though she'd never admit it or call it that). It's been difficult as my more bold, sometimes reckless propensities clash with her coddling.

I'm really hoping we get a sequel episode to "Baby Race" at some point. The shakeup that comes with adding another child to a family adds a lot of ground to cover like Bandit and Chili being initially confident because this isn't their first rodeo only to be flummoxed when the things that worked with Bluey don't for Bingo. Or maybe more of an emphasis on Bandit and Bingo's relationship since Bingo's always been something of a daddy's girl while Bluey gravitates more towards Chili. And of course there's Bluey adjusting to being a big sister, something that Chili would probably encourage greatly since this is around the time when Brandy cut off contact with the Heelers.

Something I love about this episode is Bandit's storyline in the background. He is literally lying on the floor drooling next to newborn baby Bluey in the beginning (which tbh is hella accurate!) and by the end he has Bluey in one arm and a basket of laundry in the other at the end. We see Bandit growing into the dad and parenting partner to Chilli that we know him as and I love it. Great video, thank you!

I noticed in the episode that Bluey always seemed more interested in Chili than Bandit, the way she would reach her little hands out to her mum. From the start, Bluey only seemed to roll over because she saw Chili, but as soon as she saw Bandit, she immediately knocked him out of the way. This could lead to way Bluey crawled backward only because she saw Bandit infront of her instead of Chili. Even in the end, I believe that Bluey walked just because she wanted to get to her mum.

Doc told mum to discourage me walking, but I was having none of it. So then I was prescribed a trampoline, I was to jump on that thing as much as possible to build up my bone density. So that's how mum ended up with a clutzy 1-2 year old doing front and back trampoline flips and she was in constant fear I'd fall off and break myself. So you cant win is what I'm saying😅

Although this also causes some inconsistencies with Brandy (Chilli’s sister) since she’s shown with no white hair streaks in the episode ‘Onesies’ however if she’s Chilli’s younger sister (though they don’t specify who’s the older sibling) it could explain her lack of white hairs.

As the mom of a child with a severe speech delay I felt like I had done/was doing something wrong for him to be so severely delayed.
To hear ‘you’re doing great’ during this episode, an episode about babies developing at different paces and in different ways, helped me release the mom guilt and accept that it wasn’t something that I had done.

This episode alone left me on the verge of tears and made me start realizing that me being the first-born and oldest child was pretty much an experiment to test my mom and dad's patience and persistence to raise me slowly but surely one step at a time. Because in the end, as Wendy said, it's not a race!

I completely agree that the ending is more emotional than the scene with Bella (it being the only thing to have made me cry in the show), but that could be because I’m not a parent. Still, the amazing vocals and image of baby Bluey running into Chilli’s arms melts my heart

Could you do an episode on Winton sometime maybe? I know he's not a huge character, but something about him resonates with me. Maybe it's because his parents are divorced. Or because he's a bit of a follower who just goes along with what others play. Like when bluey plays Helicopter he asks "hey, can you fly me to my dad's house? He has a pool!" it took me a second to make the connection that his parents live separately, but he said it just the way I used to when I went back and forth between houses, and that brought back a lot of memories. That and in the episode mommies and daddies, it's very clear he's kind of a follower that gets bossed around a lot and he's the epitome of the "welp! This is life now!" Kind of child mentality where he just goes with whatever people tell him to do without thinking about it too much. Which as the youngest on my family, that's very relatable to me too. I don't know why but this little baby bulldog boy child has my heart, I would fight for him! 😢❤❤❤ I hope he gets more screen time in future episodes!

This episode makes me cry every time I watch it; I relate with it so much.
My first son for the longest time did not want to crawl or even walk. Up until he was one, he only wanted to roll. He would kind of crawl, but then was like “ah screw it, I get faster around rolling”
So of course, my son is a year old, doesn’t want to crawl and even no signs of wanting to walk. I blamed myself so much, thinking I was a terrible mother, and doing everything wrong. Lots of tears. Now, my son was also born during covid, so he wasn’t around a lot of kids.
As for my second son, he was about the same as his older brother. Didn’t want to crawl (now he’s a crawling champ), and now has no interest in walking on his own. A playgroup I go to, there is a little boy who is 9 days younger then my youngest. This little guy is crawling and walking so early on, while my little man having no interest. I once again felt like I was failing, but instead of a book stating I was doing things wrong, I was witnessing it first hand that my little guy was “behind”, or at least that’s how I felt.
I watch this episode so much, even without my kids, to remind myself that I’m doing great and that it’s not a race

I first saw Bluey when my youngest was hospitalized at 14 months old with asthma. The room we were in had a TV remote that didn't work, which meant that we were stuck watching the Disney Jr channel on mute throughout the stay. So I got to watch various toddler TV programming without any sound, which was, as you can imagine, not very enjoyable. This included a few Bluey episodes, including Escape (which you can imagine was incomprehensible on mute and with absolutely no context), and for the most part I couldn't tell what was happening in the show. But then Baby Race aired.
I watched that episode with my exhausted and wheezing toddler sleeping in my arms, and I understood every single scene without any sound. And I cried at the end, both out of exhaustion, but also because of how much I related to the episode as a parent. And now I've seen it a million times, and I still cry every time. Bluey taking her first steps because of how much she loves Chili is one of the most beautiful moments of TV ever.

The episode "Baby Race" is not just an episode but a short film. There are three quotes that I find relatable as I often compare the context of the episode "Baby Race" with the current school life.
    1. "We are all learning to do things for the first time" is something that schools, even colleges, are trying to teach us as part of our everyday life. Whether it is school subject, a school activity or even something that you might find yourself in, at first, we might find them difficult to solve, but with time, we all learn to look for a new angle in order to overcome these challenges.
    2. "I just felt like I was doing everything wrong". At some point, failure can cause you to feel down and overwhelmed easily just you think you can't achieve what others achieve or can't have what others have. But failure can be a huge stepping stone to finding new ways to problems.
    3. "You're doing great" is something that I never expect to hear from a cartoon dog. While some achieve at a fast pace, others might take time to achieve. After all, all of us learn and progress at our own pace. What's important is that we do not need to be like others; we just need to be ourselves and just do what we need to do.

I agree, the moment where bluey first takes those steps is what gets me more than “you’re doing great”. As a kid I was so so close to my mom because my parents got divorced, my mom being my primary parent when I was young and I never was comfortable around my step dad but as I grew up I realized how toxic and abusive she was towards me and I lost that emotional closeness I had so bluey going to her mom with bingo saying maybe she saw something she wanted makes my heart break because it just reminds me of how I was when I was young

I just have to say that I just laughed out loud at Bluey rolling instead of crawling so hard that my husband had to pause the episode. Come to find out that he'd been watching it himself, hit that moment, and come dashing down to my office to make me watch it too, because our two-year-old did the *exact same thing*. She figured out rolling early and just stuck with it, barely crawled at all, rolled everywhere she wanted to go until she figured out pulling up on furniture and cruising and eventually walking. My one-year-old son meanwhile is a crawler and a cruiser, zooms everywhere, but he was a late roller and I remember feeling a little worried about that because my daughter was so fast at it. It's hard not to compare even when you know better. 'Course by the end of the episode I was a crying mess but definitely happy tears. This is the episode that got me sold on this show and actively watching it with my kids instead of just having it on the 'mommy needs to clean have an episode of cartoons to hold you in place for half an hour' rotation.

i noticed today something unrelated to this video but interesting, and i thought you might like to know about it (if you don't already). i think it was in the cartoon where Bandit, Bingo, Bluey and McKenzie explore the creek. before they go, Bandit is sitting at the bottom of a park slide, blocking a kid at the top of the slide. the kid picks his nose and wipes his finger on the edge of the slide. i don't know if this qualifies as a type of "an easter egg," but it is one of those little quirky background details that adds to the genius of the series.

Another thing I noticed about this episode in regards to Bluey reaching out to Chillie is that Chillie doesn't seem to take notice of Bluey's subtle hints(Reaching out specifically to her). She takes no notice or reaches out to meet her. Until the very end when Bluey walks. Cementing the personal growth of Chillie and how she learned to fully accept Bluey for who she is and how she does things. This could be a good subtle nod to parents raising children with special needs or disabilities and learning how to care for that child in their own unique way.

I'm not a parent myself, but even I can't help but worry how often I hear new parents say that their child is a genius and will be a prodigy. Of course when children and babies are little, every milestone is exciting! However, it's important to not let that sentiment turn into creating a high-pressure relationship with the child. Kids are like sponges and internalize the attitudes of the people around them regularly. It's important to encourage growth and trying your best, but to also have patience, understanding, and unconditional kindness and support. ❤

    Absurdly, deep dive:
This might be, because I just watched your video about how bluey heals your inner child, but I see a comparison between Chilly accepting Bluey’s journey and an individual like myself learning to love their inner child.
I recognize the shortcomings I have as a person, and I have been working nonstop to eliminate them, and to help myself grow as a parent.
But the steps that I see, are not the steps that I see in others. Where other Nurotypical people can stand up and walk, I crawl backwards. As hard as I try, my progress does not look like what I feel it should be.
I want to learn how to love and accept my progress as it is without comparison to anyone else’s journey.
This observation will really make this episode pop to anyone who is working hard to achieve an internal goal.
Thank you for the video! ❤❤❤

Single dad here. Just wanted you to know how much I love this show and I love your videos about it. I compare myself to how I see my ex wife doing when I video call the kids while they're there. Her and her girlfriend seem to ALWAYS have a spotless house and they're always showering the kids with new clothes/gifts. The weeks I have them feel so hectic and crazy. They absolutely love being here and we always have so much fun, but I can't help but feel like a failure at times. It's just me, so I can't afford many extra gifts or new outfits every week. They're 4 and 3 years old, so we're always making tons of messes from playing and just running around and it's so hard to keep up with how their mom's house always looks. I can't help but fall down that hole of feeling like a failure once I start unfairly comparing what I think it's like over at their mom's house. I know it's silly because I can tell they genuinely love being here. They have plenty of clothes and toys and never go hungry, but I still can't seem to help comparing and feeling like a failure. I forgot about this episode and I'm currently in my head comparing. So when she looked into the camera and said "you're doing great" I couldn't help but ugly cry lol. I'm currently tearing back up thinking about it. Thank you for posting this, I needed it more than I thought.
