The Khalai lost the ability to make Dragoons when they lost Auir, so they converted all the remaining Dragoons into Immortals to make them stronger since they could no longer make more. 5/5 BOOYEAH The dragoon vs Immortal one was a *lot* closer than I had anticipated, though. I thought Immortals would obliterate them. Also, the stalkers against the hydras not having blink caught me off guard.
@@DamnDaimen Yeah, the advantage of the Immortal was supposed to be the superior survivability, but that was nerfed several times by now as apparently hardened shields were too good (not that marine/zergling ever had a problem with that).
Those look like co op Artanis Dragoons vs 1v1 Immortals. Artanis' Dragoons are beasts because their shields regen during combat AND at a 2x rate. Meanwhile, the barrier pf 1v1 Immortal lasts whooping 2 seconds instead of the co op 10.

The dragoon was a heavy AA and AG ranged support unit used for both versatility in facing mixed enemy compositions and power in breaking heavy ground forces. The stalker is a faster, lighter, softer-hitting ranged AA and AG support unit used for versatility against mixed compositions, while the immortal is a slower, heavier, harder-hitting ranged AG support unit used for breaking heavy enemy ground compositions. TLDR the dragoon was split into two units; the stalker for fighting medium-strength air and ground forces and the immortal for kicking the shit out of heavy ground comps.

Thors and colossus are useless compared with immortals with anti-air and shields. That's why AA ability was removed firstly after the first wave of tests.
In the Zealot+Stalker they didn't have blink but in the Colossus+Stalker they had according to graphics. I didn't see any blinks at all, so something is definitely wrong.

Comparing dragoons to immortals: obviously dragoons are an OP unit that's why their role in SC2 was split up into the immortal and the stalker. The only reason it was balanced in Brood War is because of the crappy unit AI. Same reason Goliath isn't in multiplayer either.
i do not take kindly to the fact that i have been lied to, the stalker colossi vs thor marines should've been a decisive protoss win... but the stalkers never blinked even though it showed they have the upgrade
-First match was annoying. Immortals should have won, except for bad pathing. -Second match was interesting. The marines got wiped out FAST, but the thors were just too tanky for the protoss, and ended up winning. -What the heck happened with that Marauder vs ghost match? The ghosts wiped out FOUR HUNDRED enemies, they actually outnumbered the maruders for a bit, but then their kills just dropped off like a stone, and the marauders ended up winning. Were they using the snipe special? It doesn't seem to show mana use for special abilities. -I liked the last fight. Hell bats gave enough time for siege to deploy, and it was fortunate that roaches don't do melee, so they got wiped.
Dragoons were cheaper, are a Gateway unit and Attack air, so I take it as a big no no. I love Immortals anyways, cool antitank unit, a shame what they did to their shield passive tho :(
If the roaches had moved like 2 steps forward they would have won. This is my biggest complaint with the series in general. The AI isn't very smart, so it does dumb thing like not stepping forward or not targeting enemies who have like 5 hp first
@@momom6197 No I think humans are dumb too, but even a bronze league player like me can tell you that you should target units that have lower health and that you should step into the minimum range of siege tanks so they can't shoot you.

Immortal is a poor successor to Dragoons. Dragoons can shoot air and have better range. And you need 250 extra minerals to win... Add 2-3 zealots on the Dragoon side and there is no chance that the Immortals will win.
Presumably a combination of people complaining about blink "micro", and blink making stalkers worse in these fights. Turns out running away often isn't a good way to win battles

Stalkers are dragoon v2. Remember, dragoon is the BW toss' all-in-one for anti air and ground. So is the Stalker.

Those were co op Dragoons vs 1v1 Immortals who have barriers that last 2 seconds.
Yup hydras got Hella nerfed. They are pretty garbage now.
Dragoons were only balanced in sc1 because of the poor control. Now that the AI in sc2 doesn't derp around, they are way to good.
Yeah, dragoons are still anti armor, but they hit air. So dragoons are, pound for pound better.

A good example of a fight where a human player would have won; stutter stepping into the tank dead zone would have made the difference.

I usually think Stalker as replacing the Dragoon, and Immortal replacing the Reaver
The Colossus replaces the Reaver, since the Colossus is a siege unit while the Immortal is not. Immortal doesn’t really replace anything gameplay wise

Was one of the saddest day when they drop the Dragoon and gave us Stalkers. Stalkers have great mobility with blink but that is about it...

Thors prioritize their air attack when they can, I think. Their air attack is actually meaner than their ground attack.
