Just put mine together - same issues with scratches in the paint, put mine is going to be plowing a gravel driveway, so the paint won't last long anyway. The bolts you thought were missing were floating loose in my carton as well. When I unpacked the parts, I knew they went somewhere to something... took a bit of assembly to find out where. 😆
I'm assembling my Avalanche plow in 2 days. I'm just gonna throw away the damn instructions and follow your tutorial. You have certainly simplified the assembly. Thanks for a great video.
That was a pretty good instructional video, I followed it along with the instructions that came with and had no issues, I could see why you didn`t go into depth with the rubber shroud, a little bit of a pain in the butt. A great job explaining the process.
I too have a 2020 Colorado. Goes together pretty straight forward. I was curious where you mounted the electrical control box. Was it just left hanging in the engine compartment?
did they do anything for your blade being marked up? just bought mine from costco on sale and put it together and it has some very deep scratches in the blade. I mean the metal has huge gouges out of it from being rubbed constantly. About 4 spots right in the middle. Curious if they did anything for you? My wireless winch controller also doesnt work unless i put the wireless controller touching the control box.
I look forward to your plowing update. I just installed a DK2 Rampage II on my Sierra last week. I had no missing parts, and no scuffs. The did send the wrong vehicle mounting bracket though. Similar to you, I called the phone number, just to have them instruct me to fill out a warranty form. I did, and I had the correct mount a few days later. The Rampage with the vehicle specific mount seems to sit a little closer to the truck bumper, and saves the step of having to install the stiffeners each time. My instal went pretty smooth, but I have not plowed any snow with it yet.
Thank you, I look forward to seeing how it performs as well! I agree that the vehicle-specific mounted plows are way better for transporting and overall stability. If I was plowing more than my house and needed to drive with it on, I’d be a little worried about the overhang. (I am able to leave the stiffeners on, and just slide the plow up to the truck, so that’s a plus!) We’ll see how she goes for a first plow... Might end up upgrading to a Rampage II if I like the way this one works, and if I upgrade to a full size truck. Good luck when the snow starts flying! Although with our luck buying plows, we may have a mild season on our hands... lol
Got it all put together, quite surprised it included the remote control kit. Works well, a little tweaking with the springs and skid plates, all good. Gonna have some fun with my new Christmas present up in the Great White North, thank-you wife. $1400 Canadian.
The wired and wireless remotes were a pleasant surprise for me too. It’s always great to have a backup! Glad to hear everything went together well. A great Christmas present at great price! Cheers!
I put mine together last weekend, but wanted to watch this video anyway. Pretty good video. Personally I replaced the cotter pins with hitch pins on the 3 big pins that hold blade to plow frame. I just feel like they'll be stronger.
Thank you for the feedback! I haven’t run into any stability issues with the snow that I plowed last season, but that’s a good tip to use hitch pins to increase the rigidity in some of the heavier snow. I may give it a try down the road. 👍
You have been instrumental in making my mind up. Great job: audio, video, voice, info, vendor, price, details, etc. I got the same deal at Costco. I will be curious how it will handle a wide swale between my driveway and the street. Putting it on a lifted '14 F150 4x4 with Curt receiver. Thank you!
Thank you, I’m glad this video was able to help! I too, am looking forward to seeing how this plow performs when we get a decent amount of snow on the ground. Good luck with your new plow!
I bought my receiver separately on Amazon. Other websites sell it too, so I’d just Google the model number Curt 31074 to see who’s selling it the cheapest. (The installation was pretty straightforward, but I have a video of the process on my channel as well for anyone that may need it)
With the kit from Costco’s website, the braces were included. I believe they are standard content with the plow and not a part of a special package. If you do buy the plow from another website, I’d just double check that they are included, just to be safe.
My summit 2 plow from Costco ordering had so many scuffs on it. My plow blade has 2 of the exact same spot as yours. Did you call support? Curious if it's worth my time
Yes, I would definitely reach out to them. I called the DK2 support line, but they ultimately told me to fill out a warranty claim form on their website. A few personal/purchase details, description of the damage, and a few pictures are all you need. Give it a day or so, and they’ll email you back with how they can work with you. In the end, they told me to use some touch up paint on the blade (I’m thinking an automotive paint pen might work best), but they were able to give me a new wireless winch kit, as well as motor controller for my trouble. (DK2 told me the winch motor controller is a consumable that has a life of a couple of years. So I’d ask for that first if I were you.) Good luck!
That’s just one of the downsides of these universal plows. For my own driveway I’m not too concerned, but if you’re looking for a plow that you need to transport and do multiple jobs, I’d recommend one with a vehicle-specific mount, that way it’ll mount closer to the truck.
Thanks for the walk through - better than the factory directions - your video helped me purchase the Avalanche vs the Snow Bear - Working on assembling mine today - going on my 2008 1500 Silverado - will finish the wiring tomorrow. Receiver hitch was not shipped with the delivery, apparently back ordered... Bummer 6" of snow will have to wait.... The only difference was the winch strap went under the fixed pin on the winch mount... I found a video from the manufacturer - thought yours was better... Thanks ruclips.net/video/tPK7CgF5WuM/видео.html
Thank you, glad I could help! I’ll need to check out their video. I haven’t noticed anything bad when raising or lowering the plow, but now that you mention it, having the strap under the pin would keep it under more tension. Thanks for the heads up!

I just assembled mine and have the exact same scratches

Thanks for the video! The instructions I got didn’t indicate (or I missed it) to go to the negative terminal for the wireless remote transponder.

Super helpful video. Thank you!
Thank you, just getting mine all set up and your video has helped

Fantastic Video. You saved me so much time, gave great advice and gave me confidence. I put mine on a 2017 Honda Ridgeline.
I’m happy my video was able to help you! Best of luck with your new plow!

@@GrazGarage I’d be happy if I never had to use the plow!
I never intend to leave my property with the plow mounted either.

Hi, where do you buy your 2" receiver hitch? Does it come with the plow or you have to buy it separately?

This helped alot thanks for the video.
Get a custom fit mount. It will be 6 to 8 inches shorter. I have a custom mount on my Wrangler TJ.
Nice job - I used this!
Thanks!
Just wondering if that blade stiffener comes with the plow, that braces it on the hitch receiver.

Plow sticks out way too far from the truck

CRAP PLOWS! Unreliable since second season! Broken electrical actuator- no help or replacement from DK2
