Just returned recently and gave it a B. The problem - hit or miss. Buffet - regional food...Kentucky Fried Chicken, New Orlean Gumbo, etc - was simply odd. Fish was hard as rock since it set under the heat lamps for so long. Two high points - sushi/sashimi and the Asian cook station on the end. Outside near pool - surprisingly good sandwiches, enjoyable, very limited. Mansems - good but very limited.
Italian - The worst (all agreed). Of the 8 dishes we tried only two were good. Totally shocked. Chef's Table - the best. The Restaurant - good (not great). Desserts disappointed except ice cream. This was our first Viking but many seasoned travelers noted a huge difference before and after covid. First timers thought it fantastics. Experienced were less impressed.

So interesting! I'm sorry you didn't have such a great culinary experience on board.

@@stelbotadventures That's really the wrong takeaway. It was disappointing only in terms of other venues and (apparently)0 pre-Covid Viking. If I was a new traveler or had not experienced incredible food I would have thought it great. The devil is in having done it all. (It's why the ports were flat - you get a few hours to see the same old things and in our case, with bad guides we could barely understand (and we are multilingual!) so bad (other than the poor guides). We've seen every town square, church, fort, old

I've been fortunate to dine at great restaurants in places such as NYC, Chicago, LA, San Francisco, London, Hong Kong, Rome and Paris. My favorite though is on a Viking Ocean cruise ship.

Have you done several of the Chef's Table cuisines? Which was your favorite?

The food and indeed the service is, IMO, second to none. We have always loved our time on their Ocean ships and look forward to being on a Viking Rivers cruise in April/May 2022 - if the Pandemic allows
