The only way you can book excursions as soon as you buy your ticket is if you book the cruise last minute by Viking standards. Probably 60% of the rooms are sold a year in advance, and depending on the itinerary, an entire itinerary can be sold out a year in advance. A lot of repeats Viking customers book their cruises a year in advance if not earlier.

Yes. My late wife and I had the high tea. And I thought it was the nicest part of the ship. It was so elegant. Thanks for mentioning it.

Wrong, depending on your grade, you are given the earliest date you can book an excursion . For our cruise to Australia on 7th December, we are given a date of August 28th for booking excursions

My wife & I just returned from a Viking ocean cruise to the Mediterranean. I can personally say that it was just fantastic & everything that you are saying is correct! We can’t wait to book another Viking cruise.

Several cruises on Viking have left me with a strong feeling: When things go according to Script, anybody can look good. When things go off Script, VIKING SHINES!

BS the service is rubbish and the ship is old and badly refitted. I’m in a ‘penthouse’ on the Viking Star and hating every minute. Multiple complaints haven’t even warranted a reply from ‘guest services’. I’ve tried to convince my wife that as we are now in Spain we should just dump the boat and drive to Barcelona (our end destination) but she won’t so I’m stuck on this piece of crap. I liked their river cruises but if your travel agent suggests Viking for a sea cruise run far and run fast. I’m firing my travel agent when we get back. Obviously I’ll attempt to get a response from Viking but they really couldn’t care less about customers so not holding my breath.

I knew right off that you were a "high tea" kind of guy because of the SONIC cup you have on your bookcase. Thank you for a great video. We've done the Viking River cruises before but you helped me decide today to book our first Viking Ocean cruise. Iberian Explorer from Barcelona to London. Thanks!

Jonny Lindsay was the assistant cruise director on our spring transatlantic crossing. He was fun.

We love Viking. After taking many cruses with others over years, this is now our only one. We are up to 14 Viking cruses (river & ocean).
5 other things you missed that makes them special, no "nickle & diming" to death:
free wine & beer with lunch & dinner
    free specialty restaurants
    free tour in each port
free water & umbrellas with tours (others charge up to $2 for a bottle of water)
free wifi (this can cost hundreds on other cruise lines)
and if you buy Viking air (which sometimes is cheaper than you can buy yourself) you get free transportation to the ship.
and we being 80yo, they offered a "leisurely" version of many tours, which had a slower pace.
    and no one under 18.
    Joe & Mary

We have completed 4 Viking Cruises and have 4 booked. We have traveled the world on 44 cruises. After our first Viking Cruise we will never book any other line. If it ain't Viking, I ain't liking. Thank you Torsten. You run a great company.

I've seen other reviews that mention the Galley Tour and a tour of the Bridge, but no one mentions how to sign up for one. Is there a list? Is there a charge? Is it available to everyone or a select few?

If you go to the customer service desk you can ask them what all is available, and schedule tours there! They also have different paid activities sometimes. On my last cruise we did a martini making class! very fun... it got more fun the more martinis you make!

Hmmm…we just finished a Viking ocean cruise. We find the service on Oceania and Seabourn to be superior to Viking. Also, the cost for a comparably-sized room is higher on Viking. We don’t understand the Viking hype.

Wow, I've never been on either of those cruise lines... I'll have to check them out! Thanks!

I like the ships and especially the nordic spa and books .. but did not enjoy the classical music in the atrium all the time ..
also as a vegetarian… there wasnt much choice … cant be eating pizza and sushi all the time. One only hot choice each day.
Very little to do on board. The “ talks” got repetitive 🤷‍♀️.
Excursions were very expensive. I booked most through GET YOUR GUIDE in the mornings. And did the included ones late in the afternoon…
Staff mostly excellent although pretty much got ignored in the explorers lounge.
Im cruising with them again because i know what to expect.
