    We just came off Edge 2 days ago, and I have to say that it was probably one of the best cruises that we have ever done (78 cruises and still counting). My only complaint is that I have absolutely nothing to complain about. Great food, shows, staff, best cruise director on the high seas, accessible tables in the buffet, our cabin...everything was just right. Even had an unexpected gift from a crew member when she noticed that my husband and I were struggling to walk back to the gangway after returning from our excursion in Eden. We had to stop and sit for a while along the way, and this lovely crew member jumped on her phone (without us noticing) and arranged for a wheelchair to get us both back on board in comfort. For her it was a simple phone call, but for us it made an exhausted old hubby and wife feel a lot better. We are going back on Edge next year, but would love to do more cruises on her if the prices drop a bit.

      @johnkean6852 Celebrity cruises are at the top end price wise, but we are only doing one more on Edge so we are happy to pay a bit extra for it. Inside cabin around $1700 pp for 9 nights Aussie cruise.

    I love your comprehensive review! I'm going on my very first cruise in 3 months (Oct '24) on the Celebrity Eclipse. I will be missing out on the Magic Carpet, which looks very cool, and from what I've seen, the show room / stage is much more impressive on the Edge as compared to the Eclipse. The Edge's shows and venue look more Vegas-like too. Oh well, I had to take the ship that was going to the Dominican and Puerto Rico, and that's the Eclipse. At least most of the bars and restaurants are the same on both, so that's good. Being my "maiden voyage" so to speak, I imagine I won't notice these differences too much. I'm almost 70, so this is likely my first and only cruise based upon my financial capabilities. Great job - thank you.

    Great review ! And I was even more excited to see I made a cameo in the background of the silent disco section !! 😂yay!! And I agree about not enough bars . Although it didn’t bother me , I did speak to a few people who go made the same comment . I also managed to come away without spending anything additional apart from the OBC I got when I booked back in November 2021. Best value cruise I’ve ever done .

      Yes, I've heard quite a few complaints about The Retreat section at the bow of the ship blocking views of the front from other passengers. A bit of a snob concept to block an entire section of a ship to cater for the (cough, cough) "elite".

    We loved our time on the Celebrity Apex for a typical Caribbean western itinerary. To be honest, I think we easily could have spent less because the we didn't try a couple of the included dining venues in favor of the specialty dining and felt like we missed out! As former Disney cruisers, I can say that Celebrity has much to offer and excellent value.

    100% with you on the Infinite Verandah. So often too windy/cold/hot to go out there - but this is an asset in any conditions. I've seen other opinions that the configuration with the bed away from the verandah is better, as it extends the sofa space more usefully.

    Hi Adrian, Keith and I were lucky enough to get an upgrade bit for Aqua which gave us access to Blu Restaurant. It was absolutely wonderful. The food a delight. We found that in our cabin if we closed the French doors with the veranda window open, that the air con did turn back on. Maybe it’s a little issue you had in your cabin that it didn’t. We loved our cabin. Maybe a little narrower than on some other lines, but nonetheless loved the ship. Agree with all of your comments about the ship regarding the venues maybe a need for an extra area for things like the silent disco with more room. We booked Millennium for a Japan cruise in 2026. Can’t wait.

    Thanks for this review. :-D We have recently booked a 12 night cruise to NZ in April 2025 on Celebrity Edge. It will be our first sailing on a Celebrity ship and we're really looking forward to the experience. We never spend extra while onboard. We don't often drink alcohol so there is more than enough to satisfy us with the regular inclusions.

    • @2000konnie
      @2000konnie 4 месяца назад +4

      Yes. No insult to the content creator, but buying the drink and wifi packages isn't really not spending anything extra above the fare. If the point is that the included food is very good and they don't need to go to specialty restaurants, I concur with that as I just went on my eight cruise with Celebrity.

    • @TheCruiseandTravelGuy
      @TheCruiseandTravelGuy  4 месяца назад +13

      Mmm that wasn’t the point of the video. I made it pretty clear as I mentioned it several times, that the concept of an All Included cruise (for me) is that I can dine, drink, be entertained, and accommodated. And I could do all of that without spending anything extra onboard. That was the intention of the video.

    • @Nebulamoon34
      @Nebulamoon34 4 месяца назад +9

      Oh ok I guess. But any one can say they spent no additional money on a cruise if they purchase enough packages. It just would have been more useful to see what the experience would be like without any additions.

    Yes. I've done eight Celebrity cruises on all three current classes of ships. Passengers can easily have a fantastic cruise without feeling deprived of specialty dining . Passengers who don't care to drink any sort of alcohol or specialty coffees don't even have to get a drink package. The coffee served in the buffet and MDR are fine for folks who just want a "cup of coffee". The food in the buffet and main dining room and other 'included' venues is really good. I still get at least basic drink package for the specialty coffees (lattes etc.) a glass of cheap wine at dinner. I don't see a reason not to get the package of wifi, etc. though. Nice video!

    great review Adrian🥰 , I totally agree about the limited spaces to relax and have a drink or just read a book, I think it really lets the ship down. the one thing I hate is having to walk around and around to try and get a seat just to have a drink or a coffee. but I will say the food in all the venues is the best I have ever had on a cruise ship and she is a beautiful ship, such a shame they got it so wrong with not enough bar areas and seating.

    Hi Adrian, great to have met Michael and yourself on the Edge. We watched your review and both Sandra and myself just kept saying "yes" " agree" "exactly" etc. We booked the cruise back in January 2023, and got a fairly good deal on infinite verandah. It included OBC which we spent on upgrading drinks package to Premier, booking Rooftop Garden Grill (which was great despite the rain in Hobart), and the rest at the Casino. So (technically) we didn't spend an extra cent, and believe it or not, had a credit balance of US2c, which has just been credited back to our credit card as AU3c. I am pretty sure we spent more time on the Magic Carpet than you but can agree to disagree. Keep up the good work. Unlikely to be on your group PoA cruise - as mentioned, we did that a few years ago, so have other "list" items. Hope to catch up again one day and let us know if your cruising ever gets you to Townsville, as we would be happy to show you around. Doug & Sandra.

    I spend a ton of time on the regular balcony in our room and I really love being out even in drizzly weather when we cruise so I am really unhappy about the lack of availability of traditional balconies. (The few sunset verandas were sold out.)

      Edge is spectacular, so I hope you enjoy her and your cruise to NZ. Infinite veranda is definitely different, but on balance I thought it was a great option. Having just disembarked from Sun Princess in a regular balcony cabin (that I barely used) I think having a wall of glass with more natural light at all times, and the option for fresh air when desired, is the better choice!
      The USD thing gets my goat every time too 🙄 part of the reason it’s better to pre pay for inclusions for Aussies

    We've multiple times have cruised without spending any money on board. This year we've done the unthinkable and reserved two specialty dining times and a coffee card. No drink package but have set aside monies for 2 drinks a night (normally I don't drink that much). All this is because we're taking a 12 night cruise. A normal 5-7 night cruise we spend our monies on meals at the ports not on ships.

    Limited indoor bar spaces? Next! Kidding, but even in researching this ship, I agree with your take on the martini bar here vs other ships. And how amazing is it to NOT have a movie screen by the bar? I hate that on many lines, every single bar, pool, etc has a TV (often showing sports)

      I absolutely loved that there was no movie screen by the pool! It’s such a bugbear of mine - but then cruise lines such as Princess (in my opinion) should nix any daylight movies and just focus on actual movies under the stars during the evening. Daytime movies are horrendous - they ruin what should be a nice pool day vibe!

    Hi Adrian, we got on as you got off I think on the 13th March, and off 2 days ago. With us, my wife has limited mobility and she uses a wide and heavy bariatric walker. We found your video very much the same as our own findings. Thank you for that great revue. We absolutely loved the food, and our infinite verandah cabin. But, that pit venue on deck 3 was not viable for us with the limited seating and very narrow walk ways. We did not have any drinks package as we thought our Royal Diamond Plus loyalty transfer would cover us for any drinks we wanted. It did not. Firstly there were no free drinks on embarkation day! On Royal we would each get 5 drinks of any type up to USD 15 each from any venue during any day. On the Edge it was free drinks for 2 hours from 1700 - 1900 in the evening. We are not really big drinkers and we struggled to drink 3 in that 2 hour time frame. I think it would be much better to just load 5 drinks onto our cards to use at any coffee or bar place on each day of the cruise. There was no dedicated Captains Club lounge either. I think we will probably stick with Royal in future but it was good to check out the Edge.

    Fantastic review, narrative and images !!! You mentioned when your neighbors "closed/opened" their infinity window at night, you could hear it - sounds carry at night for sure. My question then is, when folks are conversing in adjacent infinity veranda staterooms and their window is down, can you hear conversations/voices/etc. ? Our biggest gripe on regular verandas are adjacent veranda voices clearly carry -- and we enjoy relaxing and reading or sipping a relaxing libation - with only the sound of the seas.... So it would be great if the infinity veranda ensured serenity ! Thanks most kindly for this Indepth video and we love your channel !!!!!! marcia and tim

In a few weeks, I am going back to Edge _and_ Alaska _and_ bringing my wife for first visit Celebrity cruise and first time to Alaska. I would like to more about this exact itinerary. Just returned from a transatlantic back to back on Ascent. First 13 day transatlantic we were on the magic carpet sky retreat suite. All inclusive with butler. Because it was cold, by our standards, for pool it was a waste of not usable outdoor space at the retreat area. The Lumine restaurant for retreat, I was not impressed with service at all. Our favorite was Cypress for food and service. The second 9 day Mediterranean we went on the Aqua. The cabin is much smaller and we did miss Jo our awesome butler BUT for the cost from one to the other, I go Aqua. Retreat transatlantic is a much older guest ratio and the feel is very different.
    For us it was a 30 year anniversary and we tried a different style of travel. We will not be doing a transatlantic again. Also Celebrity’s excursions were very disappointing, from selection to time of excursion to cost. Food on board was good not great. Eden specialty restaurant was our favorite. Biacio cafe is great. Ocean view buffet has good selection and best of all the crew with one exception of the Lumine manager, she was a flop, ALL others were great.
    We ended up with a 4 day stay at La Gràcia, Barcelona and that was amazing.
    Good travels

    My issue with many of these "all inclusive" packages, is that they don't seem to offer one for those who don't drink alcohol. I'd like to see more lines allow a 'downgrade' to their non alcoholic package for those that like fresh juice, milkshakes, speciality tea and coffee, etc, but not booze. Anyway the ship looks awesome, I'm just not sure if I could scrape together the $9k for two of us, for a say 11 night Barrier Reef cruises.

    [1] Feedback: Something about your tone sounds as if you are reading from a script? . . . [2] Nearly U.S.$200 per person per night means nearly U.S.$400 per cabin per day. That is more than double the price of many cruises that I can find on some Carnival ships, on some Royal Caribbean ships, and even with Holland America. In those cases, there is plenty of room for choosing some extras and still finishing below U.S.$200 per day per cabin. . . [3] Getting a basic fare ensures that you pay for only what is necessary and any extras require a conscious choice e.g., spending on non-complimentary beverages even though there are many complimentary ones on every cruise. . . [4] It also helps to sail with a cruise line like Royal Caribbean that gives significant benefits and discounts even from the first level of its Loyalty Programme. With just 80 lifetime cruise-points, for instance, becoming a Diamond-level guest with Royal Caribbean makes a drinks package obsolete....

    I am amazed the enormous positive reviews of the Edge. I have cruised many times on different lines and overall I must say the Edge was far worse than most of my other cruises. All ready more expensive, with extra charges for everything. Food was not nearly as good as expected, special type of patios was just silly. They have tried far to hard to so ‘ techy’ and have lost the glamour of traditional cruising. Entertainment was just OK at best. Friends said the other Celebrity ships were much better overall. For me, there is no way I would ever sail on her again.😢

    The Edge is a lovely ship, but many of the design features are impractical. The Infinite veranda can't be used many times, Eden has poor sight lines and cabins above Eden have noise issues. My main issue is the Retreat-class. When Celebrity originated the concepr on the Solstice class, it was an intimate and special experience and not very large. Celebrity realized how lucrative it could be and dramatically increased the number of suites and the size of Luminae. In my view, this has diminished the experience. I much prefer the older Solstice and Millennium class ships, even though Celebrity is starting to neglect maintenance and service on their older ships. At least they still provide options.
