Oh yes!! This is what we all have been waiting for l.o.l. (Lots of love) Shannon is the M.V.P. - Gary.
@Jesse Faries me too, he’s got the whole old man act too lol
You are correct, Mr. Commish.
Booooo! Boooooo!
Move the Yotes
Shannon talking to the Vancouver logo about what goal horns should sound like is quite wholesome.
Best part of the video.
Back in the day, I thought Montreal’s combo of insane crowd, loud high pitched horn, and vertigo as the song, was the best in the league. Made for some chilling playoff goals.
Yeah that was crazyyyy and the lighting of the ice.. the bell center gets crazy loud during playoffsn
Horns are definitely different from one another.
Exactly! I would split the scoring and give points for the horn and points for the song. Some horns are just generic, some are unique, some are atrocities (lookin' at you, Edmonton).
The horn at Joe Louis followed by Hey Hockey town was pretty banging. It's a shame the red wings rebranded and is no longer operating under the hockey town branding, because I miss that goal song, as well as the custom goal songs.
Capitals actually have a different goal song for each player! The players get to pick them and some of them are great! It’s a fun thing for fans to get into when you can tell who scored based off the song that starts playing
came here to say the same thing, i love the personal feel each song has for each player. Gotta love the "Shake, Rattle and Roll" and "Country Roads"
Every team should do this.
@@zachmontminy then it wouldn't be as special (as a Caps fan) but would be good .... but some songs are amazing and fit perfectly to have as a singular song
So basically what the Canucks did a few years ago and everyone whined about how tacky it was?
Calgary does this too
Thank you so much for this video Shannon us st.Louis blues really appreciate the love, my parents use to take me to games very young and I would cry anytime the horn would go off… cause it would be so loud!
The Stars have Pantera, great production team and some of the best broadcasters. So we have that going for us, which is nice.
What song from pantera does Dallas stars use
Excellent Bill Murray reference there!
@@jonathenspagnola8236 The song is called Puck Off, and it was written by Pantera specifically for the Stars
@@jonathenspagnola8236 It's just a goal chant that they wrote for the Stars during the playoffs in '99. It goes "bum bum DALLAS! Stars!" on repeat and then there's an epic guitar solo. Oh and it's called "Puck Off," of course lol.
@@byst33 can thank Ludwig for that
Songs aside, the Kings have a beautiful goal horn
As a Sharks fan, I hate hearing it, but it is a pretty unique horn
@@bayareasportsfan04 at least it’s not yours !! San Jose’s horn is dull af
@@DC-Supreme Anaheim fans be like “You think YOURS is dull?”
Wild how different this list would be for different people, but I think we can all agree that Dimebag Darrell could write a crushing riff, perfect for hockey. RIP DD, almost been 20 years... :'(
This is the NHL ranking that I didn't know I needed
Buffalo's goal horn back in the 90s and early 2000s was the greatest. The low-pitched siren that went with it was so cool to hear. They brought it back for a few themed nights for their 50th anniversary season.
Been waiting for this
Thanks for showing love to When the Blues Go Marching In followed by Towel Guy with the goal count. Love the Blues tradition!
YESSSSSSS PLEAE MORE OF THESE TYPES OF VIDEOS! LETS GOOOO!
Haha! Yes! I know I’ve been in the chorus requesting this and I’m glad you did!
THG is a metalhead? That knowledge just made my day lmao. Thanks for the videos Shannon! Hope all is well!
*It makes me wanna go by pineapples*
That’s how i feel about the Flyers goal song too
Thank you. About time you did this video. Lol. Now please do a video about the hey song.
This was a video we needed 📯
Quality content right here!
I went to the Dallas vs Florida game when we won 6-5 in a shootout. It was so fun chanting after every goal
San Jose used to have Rock and Roll Part 2. I loved that song and grew up with it. I totally agree with not using it anymore but damn it was good.
I think everyone minus Seattle has used that.
Arizona does indeed have the most fitting song for their team and I will die on this hill. Every time I hear the song over their game broadcast I just start dancing a little bit. Plus the actual howling makes it all the more fun!
Howlin For You is incredible
Not sure if they still do, but they used to play "Werewolves of London" as the post game victory song. Pretty solid choice as well.
@@ronhuettner2946 I remember Howlin For You from NHL Slapshot. It fits so well. It sucks that AZ is not a high scoring team bc it's an amazing song
I would have never thought Tampa's song so high on that list. I really think it's a great song. Also, before the current song, they used the song the Oilers have now.
The Lightning also use their tesla coils during the horn. Great video!
Of all the videos you’ve ever done. This one furiates me most
What a GREAT video. So unique. Thanks for finally doing this.
The Stars goal horn/song is even more powerful in person! It gets so loud on a good night.
Yeah, some songs are some real bangers. Oh baby when she moves, she moves. I guess it just depends on how easy it can be for the crowd to really get into it. Enjoyed the break in the normal videos during the break but can't wait to get back to the action tomorrow!
Shannon, we appreciate you for this top 32 list. Goal horns.
I really like Florida's goal song ("Sweetness" by Jimmy Eat World), the energy of that song is perfect for scoring a goal.
Eh, I don't really think of it as a hockey song. I like the song by itself, but it just doesn't go well with the mood and horn.
This is the Hockey coverage I didn't know I needed!
Best Hockey channel out there!
THIS is some content Shannon
thanks for this cool vid. I hope you can post suggestions/option videos about having the Winter Classic and Stadium Series for the Winter break instead of the All-Star Game. Also would you be posting any videos about the team pets and team mascots as well?
I would have never guessed that you like heavy metal, that's super cool!
Love your content by the way, my gf and I watch you for all the latest news around the league. You were my introduction to hockey actually through her!
Thrashers had the best goal sound of them all 😢
Best sounding goal horns
Wild
Hurricanes
Kings
Flames
Sabres
Finally, I can't believe it's actually here
for Carolina they use the song Petey Pablo - Raise Up, since the 2018-2019 season, but this year they removed Rick Flair from the beginning before the song plays
I wonder where the Canes would be ranked if their goal song was Rock you like a Hurricane, or just left as Brass Bonanza. Having said that, I’m kind of surprised that you ranked the Canes that high. The bit about the Flyers song making you want to get Pineapples had me laughing pretty good. Great work once again Shannon, keep it up.
Raise Up is a local classic, though.
Go Canes!
Thanks for the shoutout! Love your channel, keep up the great work!! 🙂
I use to live in Portland and the winterhawks had TNT as the goal song. Whole crowd would do the “Oi!” part. That was fun.
The video we have all been waiting for 😆😂
Canes have had the same goal song for the last 3-4 years including this one. Works well in the building and is a local artist. Keep churning out the content THG!
My favorite goal horn is the Sharks, I love the atmosphere of games in San Jose
the games were fun a few years ago but they're relatively lame now with the covid restrictions lol
@@kylet9023 that's true lol
I was at a Sharks game in the nosebleed section several years ago when they scored and the foghorn sounded. I legit jumped out of my seat because it was LOUD.
Blues fan so I will discuss ours for a bit before naming my #1
Absolutely love the tradition of When The Blues(Saints) Go Marching In played on the organ. Glad they have stuck with it since our inception in '67. That said - going into the piece from the Urge was a mistake which in my view knocks us down a bit. Now I really like The Urge as a band, but when a tradition is so cool there is no need to "improve" it. Let the organ play the song out and finish with the 3 note crowd prompt (ok 3 chords) for us to all scream Lets!! Go!! Blues!! I'm glad the tradition continues with the organ playing WTBGMI - Love that we have the oldest goal song by far - Happy that the new Urge bit includes a Lets Go Blues, but lets go back to the original way of doing it. It was perfect!
With my homer bias I rank it 5th as is. However if we did go back, and even with my bias, I would still only rank it #2
My #1 is Columbus. They Have A Cannon!! Their name is the Blue Jackets which refers to cilvil war Union soldiers. AND THEY HAVE AN ACTUAL, WORKING, replica, CIVIL WAR ERA, VERY REAL CANNON!!!! They have employees dressed as Union artillery men to operate the cannon. The cannon fits with the team name, and proud Ohio history. The song they play? Doesn't matter. Who cares? THEY HAVE A F&*%ING CANNON!!
#2 I will give to the Habs with Sandstorm. A bit partial to pieces that don't have lyrics (Unless its hockey themed or a connection to the team.)
#3 I hate admitting this as a Blues fan, but Chicago with Chelsea dagger. Great crowd involvement with a fun upbeat song. Lyrics exist, but aren't used in the goal song just the Na na Na singing the notes. Yes opposing fans hate it, but from their perspective its another plus.
Is there a reason you forgot to mention the towel guy?
@@illdirtfarmer Love the Towel Guy!!! I consider him as something separate. A different awesome celebration albeit for the same event.
The Towel Guy comes out, and does his thing right after the goal is announced. This isn't until after play has resumed again. The goal horn and song have long since finished. So it my mind it kind of stands alone.
I understand others if they look at it all together as one big thing. Just however you want to look at it I suppose.
I remember one time a Blues goal was scored as he was swinging the towel. We all just added another number to the count!! So much fun :D
@@edwardofgreene I agree... Pretty sure Shannon was adding it...
The whole procession when the Blues score has become one of the most amazing organic traditions in sports. I absolutely love it, and while I agree they shouldn't have added to it, I feel like they could've done so much worse than the snippet they play.
It's fun to see your opinion on these. Personally I rank the Flames horn near the bottom, I think ''Shot Down In Flames'' is the better AC/DC song to use (they've used it in the past). I'm not a big fan of TNT. They used to have gun sounds with the goal horn, along with the cowboy saying YAHOOOO that they still have, I miss the gun noises lol
This is amazing
Going to games in Dallas is pretty awesome. When Puck Off comes on the arena goes crazy.
lol this is funny. whoever made this video-suggestion is genius. also i find it ironic, because i actually rank Canuck's goal song as number 1 and i'd say Wild's goal song is worst. regardless i will always enjoy THG-shannon's ranking videos.
I love that Minnesota has an actual lighthouse in the corner that goes off with the fog horn when they score.
I went to 3 games this year, and I have to say, when minnesota scores, the arena goes insane. The horn is perfect. Love the experience
MN wild players also chose the goal song, and its fun as hell to sing along and get hyped for as a fan
I will die on this hill. Nashville has the best goal horn/song in the league.
People from Buffalo might remember the Sabres being one of the 1st teams to have a goal song. The Sabres had "pump up the jam" back in 1990
Another Stars/Eagles fan? I thought I was the only one!
@@KyleWhittington I've only known 1 other Stars and Eagles fan. He was on a sports trivia you tube channel
Now it should be a song from Iron Maiden, since it's torture to play for Buffalo right now XD
Weren't the Sabres also the first to start the goal horn?
@@effend446 I think the Blackhawks were the 1st for the goal horn in the early 80s. I was at the 1st Sabres game when they added the goal horn. It was Pierre Turgeon's 1st game as well. The beginning of the 1987-88 season. A 2-2 tie against the Minnesota North Stars
He finally did it
When you mentioned how you got emotional attachments to songs teams used to use, I immediately thought of how the Rangers playoff entrance song was Baba O'Riley for many years
I hope they use it again this year cause it always got me fired up
Even as a Kings fan, this was me with Gloria in 2019.
For me the Sharks song actually makes me think of NHL 96 on SNES, that was the music used on the main menu. I remember that because I played the crap of that game back in the day. lol
I am absolutely shocked to see this pop up! And I LOVE IT!
Wasn't a big fan of Colorado's song for recent years but this one I really like a lot!
Both my teams #1 and #2. It wasn’t a shock. The story behind Dallas’s goal horn is sick. It is more fun in person! 💚
Finally! Video of the year, im calling it now
"The horns are... They're horns..."
Beautiful Atlanta Thrashers Jersey and Hat!!!! Atlanta Thrashers will rise again!!!!
Penguins had Jump Around by House of Pain for a bit there. So glad they went back to Party Hard.
6:36
As far as i know the only change in the Hurricanes Goal Horn this year us they took out "THAT'S A CAROLINA HURRICANES GOSL! WOOO! WOO WOO!". They haven't changed the actual song since the 2018-19 season when they released Avicii and signed Petey Pablo.
I think what the people need is a The Hockey Guy breaks down metal take. I didn’t take you for a metal guy - this is awesome!
GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT WE WANT!
appreciate your work and I watch often. But this is a review of goal songs not goal horns. I wanted to hear how you like the B flat maple leafs over the G major horn of the avs...
The worst click bait ever ;-) /s
yeah party hard is a great goal song tbh not a huge fan of that type of music but it absolutely grew on me. also not a goal song but the pens used walking on sunshine as a winning song during their 16-17 (idk about 15-16 because i didn't pay attention) and it was great
I would also like to point out the the lightning have lightning generators that go off with the goal horn. Pretty cool in my opinion.
They also shoot the tesla coils when the team comes onto the ice and after a win!
thing with the Florida's goal song, its Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World. It was in the EA NHL 2003 video game and its pretty much THE most memorable song of all NHL games. Bardown actualy made a great video about it.
LOL Shannon ranting at a magnet, pure gold.
Hershey Bears always did Song 2 by Blur, and I loved it growing up. Haven’t been in probably 3 years so idk if they still use it
Penguins have played it after a win for a good 15 years or so.
Super important stuff.
The only change the Hurricanes made to their goal horn was the removal of the Ric Flair "Woo!" sound effect, which was in response to sexual assault allegations surrounding him about a month before the season began.
And the goal song is "Raise Up" by Petey Pablo, which was implemented in 2018-19.
21:12 Dear Shannon, I do not believe your Canucks will be able to get the guitarist of Pantera. RIP!
The Florida one is phenomenal
Agreed, the cannon is great.
Not even hockey but the best goal song I ever heard was for floorball and it was the chorus of It's Raining Men by the weather girls.
My favorite individual player goal song is the one for defenseman Andrej Sustr, the Lightning play "Oops... I Did It Again" by Britney Spears.... freaking hilarious.....
Original content baby yeahhh
Having Vegas and Colorado so far apart is kinda funny when you consider the horns are almost identical. Guess it comes down to the PatD song after the Vegas horn lol.
So... this is about goal songs, not the actually sound of the horn? We need a horn sound ranking too
Fun Fact for those who didn't know: Pantera wrote Dallas's goal song for them during their Cup Run in '99
Just an extra thing about when the Blues score at home: The 'tradition' of counting off goals was actually started by one fan, 'towel guy', who used to run to the front of his section when they scored and he'd get the section to cheer and count off the goals with him. After a bit the Blues noticed this, gave him season tickets and blues rally towels to throw when he counted goals, and now focus on him with the camera and have sound effects to count off the goals, even when hes not at the game.
He's been around since I was a kid.
I thought we'd never get this one.
You mentioning Blur made me think of the Coffee & TV music video, a very underrated music video.
I can imagine THG in 1997 rocking Prodigy, Chumbawamba Tubthumping and The Crystal Method type stuff.
Well I can remember everyone using Rock and Roll part 2 Hey Go Stars from the 90s
Yeah, I think half the league used Gary Glitter at some point, before whatever happened in the late 2000s. It was the only goal song I knew at Mellon Arena, 14-15 years.
Shannon... i completely agree with your nirvana assessment, Soundgarden PJ and AIC all rule
Respect & Peace
Thank you for doing this one... perfect video content after all of the All Star weekend festivities.
This was hilarious 🤣
I have a slight correction Shannon. The St Louis Blues goal horn is of course led by when the saints go marching in but the main portion of it is written by the nationally known band, The Urge. The song is called, "The Blues Have the Urge" . It's on RUclips you just got to listen more than 20 seconds.
#6. We did pretty good. This was a fun video.
I remember Ottawa used to change their regular season goal song every year and use song 2 in the playoffs. I guess they figure "welp since we don't make the playoffs anymore, when else are gonna be able to use the song?"
I am a huge fan of "Song 2," which the Penguins adopted as their victory song 15 years ago or so. But I cannot stand that little cuckoo clock tune Ottawa plays when an opposing player gets a penalty. Are we at a hockey game or visiting grandma?
Next: Shannon rank each arena's ice!
White. Cold. 👍
It's probably not as different nowadays, but man, as late as the 2000s, players would 100% let people know which arenas had bad ice. As spring turns to summer, things could get dicey.
Yes!!! All the goal horns ranked! Thank you!!!
the hurricanes changed their goal song in 2018-2019, from the nights to raise up by petey pablo
I sat next to a SJS fan as a VGK fan at the All Star game. Our goal song Vegas Lights says “swimming with the sharks until we drown”. I leaned over to him and I said “yeah, I hate it too.”
They do play Viva Las Vegas as a victory theme. That is dope.
I remember back in the old North Star days not sure if it was for goals or when Willie plett got into a fight they used to play Little Willy
I’m a Detroit and Vegas fan, but nothing will ever top the Brass Bonanza!
Loved this video, LMAO when you kept going back to complain about the last three in the video. Never change Shannon, never change!
The Harford whalers brass bonanza is a classic tune that will go down as top goal Song of all time.
Preach brother!!!
Yep, the Whaler's Brass Bonanza was the best.
St. Louis plays a song specially written by local legend The Urge. When The Saints Go Marching In is the ge opener.
Carolina changed theirs in 2018 after Avicii's passing. They asked the fans to pick the new song and went with Petey Pablo as he's a native Carolinian and his track is actually played at UNC football games by their marching band.
"Vancouver needs to talk to a guitarist from Pantera about a song."
"What's that?" ... "Oh, he did? That's a shame, what happened?" ... "Oh no."
