    Thank you for your video, it helps....but....as a pro user of this software, I would expect a more detailed solution of the really shameful glitches that the 2020 version still has. Asobo and the developers seems to be really focused in the creation of new 3D trees, more animals, more depth field, more weird missions like putting power lines over a hill.... Ok with all that , but what about the really annoying inconsistencies that this software has right now? A few examples of really disappointing things that no one is mentioning how / if will be solved in the 2024 version :
    * Taxi , approach and PAPI lights misplaced in 90 % of the airports.
    * Ground equipment and vehicles doing stupid and unrealistic movements like stopping in front of a taxiing aircraft or crossing right in front of it.
    * Wrong instructions from ATC ( awfully frequently if you are on the glideslope, at 1000 ft 3 nm out of the airport, the ATC starts to "tell you" that you are "500 below your assigned altitude" and orders to climb back, completely non sense ).
    * And perhaps THE MOST important question, would be the 2024 version more or less manageable for mid range processors compared with the 2020?? Because, let's be honest, all the wonderful images of the trailers, are only available if you have a really high end hardware or you are a software genius that can tweak your equipment reaaaaaally really well.....otherwise, you need a processor and video card combination with an investment bordering 5K USD to run the software that way. If you have a mid range hardware , you would not have nothing remotely similar to that. I'm miles away from getting that FPS with that quality, not even close, I have to use a lot of the config adjustments in "Medium" to just run the things in an acceptable way, the "High" and "Ultra" settings are just a dream for my almost 2.000 dollars laptop. I would prefer a solution to this really annoying problems that very frequently make the experience miserable, over the chance to hunt a deer in the forest or fly an helicopter over a bush fire.

    Looks all very promising. I wish that the developers would shine some light on the use of all cores of our processors. PC's that have trouble running MSFS now, could be troublefree with MSFS 2024 without the need to upgrade. They must have some benchmark data available that shows us what we can expect. "Guys... it's going to kick ass" sounds fantastic, but rather hear 'with a CPU xxxx and GPU xxxx you may expect ZZ FPS...

    I’m optimistic about this. I like the smaller GA aircraft. A charter career and various missions is attractive to me. I believe what they’re going for here is a sim you can do or fly whatever you want but with more purpose as an option.

    I am very grateful for how you have helped us all to get 2020 to a kind of 2023 level. But the foundations of 2024 seem a different level. I'd like to know about the transitional issues of transferring our addons to 20204. I and many others probably have lots of money spent on aircraft etc.

    I don't think Yosemite national park is photogrammetry in MSFS 2020. I do believe they may have inserted some photogarmmetry type models in there though. But these are just models placed onto the landscape. What's remarkable about MSFS 2024 is that they've just applied there new cliff/ detailed maps/ tesselation to the landscape and it looks so much better out of the box. I don't think 2024 is showing any models but just more accurate AI generated details and much higher quality assets.

    Thanks for the overview. I think the improvements will out weigh the shortcomings in addons. I guess my concern is in the area sceneries. I enjoy creating my own airports and scenery. I gave the Bing map mod a try and found that my SDK created sceneries did not work with it's image data. Mine is very small in nature, but I wonder about the big updates like Orbix, //42 and many of the addon libraries. Haven't heard any knowledgeable insights into this and what impact the update will have on SDK objects and their placement in new sceneries.
    Thanks so much for the great improvements you have shown us. Cheers.

    Be nice if they could just have in FS2020 a basic, when you crash on ground or mountain etc., you can just re-spawn from there, oh well. You got a good channel, thanks.

      Try the default C172 or the ini A320 Neo v2 - on both aircraft the improved ground handling and crosswind improvements are in place which will likely also end up in MSFS2024 (in fact they were backported as per developer stream). The changes were included in SU15.

    IDK, all this leaves me puzzled. It seems more and more that what we're getting is a pretty movie generator. You say "Look at this," "Look at this" and "Look at this," but it's mostly stuff seen from a "God perspective," that is, you step outside the plane and watch it fly by, not actually flying it. I guess it does improve "immersion," but did anyone notice how few scenes there are taken from inside the cockpit, where the real business of flying takes place? Until we get real VR for the masses, there's only so much "immersion" you cans squeeze out of a 2D screen. Just saying ...

    • @IslandSimPilot
      @IslandSimPilot  3 месяца назад +2

      I actually totally understand your perspective. But as someone who does a ton of low-level VFR, things like regionally appropriate trees and vegetation are going to be pretty cool.

      Don't get me wrong, as a long time simmer, one who remembers wire-frame 8-bit graphics, I am totally blown away by how real everything has come to look. It's just that there's this nagging little demon in the back of my mind who whispers, "Now wait a minute. There's something they're missing here." But I keep on flying anyway.

      Point taken, but I really don't think scutenising a video made for an Xbox Showcase is particularly fair. Remember that the MSFS 2024 planes are being created by experienced third party developers. We'll never have had a more complete feature rich set of default planes in any flight simulator in history, so just bare that in mind.

      Absolute rubbish. Career mode is for folks who want to try different aviation activities whether you are a professional pilot or a beginner. Of course Xbox users are going to benefit hugely from the additions to MSFS 2024 and that is great news.

    • @kashiffcollins5554
      @kashiffcollins5554 3 месяца назад +1

      @@dtrjones I guess you are not following the xbox simmers then since you find it rubbish. Everyone can benefit from it but Xbox players have been stuck just flying for fun and doing nothing more while pc players myself included can do lots of things for example NeoFly 4, A pilots Life, VAs, Vatsim. All these are available to PC but Xbox is just stuck one palce. So to cover them and not have them left out there has to be a career mode to allow them to have something to do. We on PC can choose to do anything because its available. Think about that long and hard.

    • @dtrjones
      @dtrjones 3 месяца назад +1

      I think unless you have a slow broadband, then anything in official folder it might be worth redownloading again to make use of the more efficient download packages. It will take less disk space. Of course stuff not from the official store will likely mean you'll need the full package on the harddrive, so these should be backed up before removing MSFS 2020.

    Great analysis of the new capabilities and functionality portrayed in this new 2024 trailer.
    There is one thing I noticed and nobody seems to talk about it in their own reviews.
    What struck me as well in this new trailer is the A330 interior cockpit shot showing the shadows quality created by small geometry such switches and knobs, they are indeed very sharp. Also the shadow edges from more distant object such as windshield frame have blurry edges. Both sharp shadows from small detailed object and blurry shadow edges from more distant object can only be achieved by RAYTRACED shadows. So it seems no more of those horrible jagged edges which was a limitation of raycast shadows.
    That is what I think the all purpose of that shot was.
    My 2 cents!

  • @deltak5457

    For all the "crispness" far away I'll stay really careful - you can have the same level by manipulating the TLOD value to something like 8000. However FPS (obviously) may go into single digit values which doesn't matter for a trailer.
    The marketing team could have recorded a flight using a flight recorder, set the settings like mentioned and simulation rated synchronized with the FPS, recoded the playback and - this way - created a fluent 60 FPS trailer.
    There is actually one hint this might have happened: Unlike the MSFS 2020 trailers this one does not state it was "captured in real time 4k". Also the strobes on the Optica look somewhat too fast for real time footage.
