- If procrastination is a problem for you, this is the video for you. So for those who are reading comments while listening to the video, stop it, and watch the whole video it literally gave me a drastic change in my mindset I keep revisiting this, this was the only thing that made me realize things differently, I have seen a lot of "How to overcome procrastination" sort of tips videos and they were all so repetitive. I already knew them, and those didn't help me enough. Still, I am telling you, if you could sit with all your focus and attention for at least 9 mins 36 seconds, and if you understand the message, you will save a lot of years ahead, this is a great theory and I respect this man!
I need to hire you as my PR agent, holy smokes!
@@spoonfedstudy hahhaah, I'm really flattered :)
Thanks buddy.....I always look for the comments section before watching a video to assess the video quality and thank god that your comment was on top.....I literally gave all my attention to the video and realised just how awesome his tips are
(I have been procrastinating for 3 days straight and my mid sem exams are from 5th of April)

@@SameenaParween082 no problem actually i do the same, but decided not to for this vid, cause i needed some remedi for my prcastination ^^
Came for procrastination, went with existential crisis.
Wahahhaahaha
@@charmedprince I find this concept in the video to be unsettling as well, psuedo-science, not true, not helpful. What is true: you are the same magnificent person when you wake up in the monring.
@@michaelrush1390 it's these woo woo new age concepts
😆 The greatest motivator
@@charmedprince I think a strong identity change beats everything for procrastination. I've tried everything and fallen to that concept.
If you want a good video about it then search "Hamza unfiltered what I've never told you about getting consistent."
Just watch that video and remind yourself that you're disciplined.
You might find it woo woo, but It worked for me more than any other woo woos out there.
I'd highly recommend watching that if your procrastination is purely out of laziness, if it is because of the fear of failure, then you might need a mindset change and not some procrastination tricks as none will work through that, I'd recommend listening to Alex Hormozi's videos, I don't know which one but he says that the only way to get better is by doing more, and the more you do, the more you'll fail in the early days.
Alex hormozi's content about helped me with my fear of failure, and Hamza's video helped me fix my identity to a disciplined man, and therefore it was easier to stop being lazy as the consequence was losing my new (and better) identity.
This all might sound too much fragile and delicate and you might just want to use the willpower, but in the longrun, the more will power I save, the more I can use it for uncomfortable shit.
Wow. I'm now imagining all the future me's crowded around a giant crystal globe watching like " c'mon bro we're all counting on you"
Hahaa that’s an amazing image. I should’ve drawn that 🤣
Ahhh! I love it!
Thank you!! I will get shit done today and relax tomorrow...Lol😅❤ God Bless
@@spoonfedstudyyour recommended channel is a new sub from me 😊 Thank you for feeding me, I'll reciprocate the best I can. Props!
I love that! 😂
The "you are the intern" concept is how I have lived for a long time. Alternatively: "Future me is wiser but also older and likely more tired. Don't leave work for them, it's disrespectful and they'll hate it".
And now, every time I have to do work and realise that past me had done a quarter or half of it, I have this profound sense of appreciation and work even harder to pay it forward to the next Future me.
Love to hear it! You are killing it my dude!
That’s really a beautiful way to explain this concept
Same, I had recently started practicing this too and i can't tell u that how much it has changed my life. Now I think about future me before procrastinating and also thank the past me for taking the huge amount of overload on themselves.
Love this!
I'll watch this later.
That you is a different you thad be watching it
hahahaha
The future you will be pissed that the now you didn’t watch it… 🥸
I bought a book on time management, but I don’t have time to read it
The laugh that just came out of me... that was unsettling. Thank you. 😅
In simple words :
1. Do something valuable today that your future self with thank you for.
2. Set up reward systems that you actually deserve.
3. Delayed gratification.
4. Start fulfilling your complete potential and stop freeloading.
my future self will not thank me because it will be dead
Man, I both love and hate these responses.
Instant gratification of knowing the main ideas in the video and saves me like 10 mins.
But on the other side, after watching the video, the way he explained it made it so much more impactful and drove the message home as opposed to this comment that I basically just gazed over and said "yeah, that's obvious".
@@cenfre2866 Right? I don't think the simple words have the same feeling or even same meaning. (Not to criticize it because it IS nice for anyone who doesn't have time!) But after watching it, it's a lot different than just a few sentences. I have heard those sentences my whole life and it hasn't worked, but the way he explained it shook me. I am actually crying right now lol.
A fair take, although it removes the aspect of the video which is perhaps the main point: seeing your "selves" in the future like separate people- but whose path you share, like friends - you can either hurt or help. To remove that removes the aspect of this approach which might be uniquely useful to some people, I'd think
No, you actually should watch the video in its entirety to truly “get it”. Cliff notes do not help for THIS.
Welcome to my "Watch later" list

@@thecodingarchitectexactly. People underestimate the capacity of older philosophies simply because they think their forced education and forced improved nutrition means they aren't as "simple" as yogis or stoics. Not blind faith, but actual philosophy of life. Every person has equal capacity to be worse, or better.
@@cusillo6976 Yes! Sometimes we just need to hear it said in a different way because over time, we end up linking these philosophies to the wrong things, or in the wrong way, such as, "If I don't become a CEO of my dream company by the time I'm 35, that means I will have failed at life, all because I chose to be a lazy bum!!!" Or simpler, "If I don't get this project done today, I WILL get fired and I WILL be homeless and DIE." Or, simpler yet, "If I don't finish this project today, I won't be able to have ANY fun this weekend with my friends." That last one may even sound like a good thing to tell yourself, but that actually can make things worse inside your head. It's easy to spiral into an "all or nothing" mentality where every day feels like the entire weight of your world rests on completing something to 100% perfection by EOD, rather than understanding (and I mean TRULY and fully understanding in your mind and soul) that each moment is only a choice that can help and assist your future self, or alternatively, set back your future self. It's not "all or nothing." It's just doing "something."
And it's not actually meant to make you feel guilty or to make you feel like a punishment awaits you if you don't do that something, it's "simply" to help yourself by just taking one single step now. NOT because your boss will be happy that you did the work you needed to get done on time, and NOT because you will impress your parents or friends if you become a rich CEO, and not even because you'll ruin your weekend if you don't do something today. But simply because you are offering a helping hand to yourself, even if it's just in some small way today. The same way you'd offer to help a friend carry one of their bags inside if they were coming to visit you. You are carrying a bag for one of your "future selves" so that they won't be overwhelmed and overburdened tomorrow. Or next week. Or 10 years from now. If you "only" carry one bag today, you still may not be able to hang out with friends this weekend. BUT, if you get in the habit of carrying a bag a day starting right now, then maybe a month from now you will have your weekends back. Or your clean garage back. And soon after that, you may have your sanity back
Am I allowed to nap or do I die when I nap too?
Yeah... no. One of my main issue is that I can't convince myself to go to sleep at a decent hour so telling me that I'll somewhat die if I go to bed is NOT the way to go.
"There's nothing special about Future You" took me out
Thank you posting this.
I added it to my "watch later" list.

I also like the sense of urgency this creates by thinking about it like “what would I need to get done today if I know I’m gonna die tonight”
Good point! You can make it as dramatic as you need to get that fire burning 🔥
Why would i spend time doing boring work if i know im gonna die today?
@@taylanulukr9081exactly. If I know I’m dying tonight, the last thing I’m going to care about is long term goals.
@@taylanulukr9081 This is what I say lol Who does anything but spend all the money and eat like a king if they are dying in hours?
@@taylanulukr9081 Because you understand that you are still a part of something greater than yourself.
One thing not mentioned is something could happen to the health of your future yous. I wish I had gotten more done when I was healthier.
I thought of that… When he said the future use would be smarter. That can be very true, but only up to a point before there is typically a decline in ability.
As others have said…”do one hour to save 20”
One hour a day will get you further than putting it off and having to do a 20 hour block of xxxx to catch up….
This is genius. In all my years of studying life I've never heard this wisdom before. Thank you.
I always had the sense of “future me” is being another person that i’m setting up for success, but never thought of it as precisely. This gave me the feeling of urgency and motivation at the same time, gonna finish the assigments of the month today !
Fr 💀
I lost my shit at "you're the dumbest member of the team" 😂😂😂 Excellent video!
My grandparents always told me live yr life as if you are going to live forever yet live yr life as if yr going to die tomorrow (which means do what needs to be done today dont leave it for Tomorrow yet have an overall goals about how you want yr whole life to turn out this concept is pretty much similar to what he was saying in the video)
Wow, okay when you said “Stop being selfish” it felt like something finally clicked for me, great work on this video
Wow this should make it a ted talk, it's a great way to deal with procrastination.
Wow what an honor to hear you say that. Thank you kindly!
This was such a great video! I kept thinking about the stoic principles of Seneca ("Begin at once to live, and count each separate day as a separate life.") and Marcus Aurelius ("You could be great today, instead you choose tomorrow" and "It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live."). You've brought these principles to life with your storytelling, beautifully done!
There’s no mindset for my case, I procrastinate every chance I get, but my apathetic ass goes from something to another and when there’s nothing left I feel empty and go back to studying to keep myself from thinking too much about life and my problems.
Same. That's not laziness though, that's a symptom of depression for sure. Hope this video helped, hang in there!
Reframing my day as the only day the current me is alive really helps put procrastination into perspective. Unfortunately I am tortured by ADHD and I don't procrastinate that much but some days it's like trying to lift a 1 ton weight and it can really cascade and domino from there. It's really helpful to see videos like these that can help motivate me even beyond what ADHD is doing to weigh me down. I live in fear of what I could've become if only I could stay focused longer and with more quality. I'm going to try and remember that each new day is a life and death scenario as well as the community of myself that I need to stop freeloading off of. As my way of saying thanks for this video I've liked it and wrote this comment and I'm going to share it to a few of my friends to help boost your metrics for youtube.
We all got our excuses. Excuses are all we got. They're all that's holding us back, and we have to push back against them if only long enough to pull one foot closer to our dream. We all have to fight our own tailor made excuse to chase the dream. You're not special because we all are. No excuses. And not tomorrow, but today you'll be happy you chased so long as you don't believe anyone who has settled with their excuse.
I know you’re gonna do great. Just reminding you this video exists and hope you get enough sleep tonight.
I feel the one ton weight thing. For me, what’s helped the most (I think) is to realize that I can’t directly change how I feel about a task that my brain doesn’t want to engage with, but I *can* experiment to find ways to overcome those feelings.
For some things, like loading the dishwasher, I just made myself do it over and over until it no longer felt like a big deal.
For other things, I usually try to figure out what it is about the task that makes it feel bad, and then try to figure out how I can work around that. Example: Sometimes I need to fill out annoying, repetitive forms at work? I save my responses in notes so I can copy & paste from the last time I did a form, then just update it wherever it needs to be changed.
There isn’t always an obvious way to reduce the friction of a task, so if I can’t think of any better strategy, I try to commit to spending five minutes on it. That amount of time is usually enough to overcome at least some of the negative feelings, so it’s easier to keep working on it than it was to start.
Anyway, my advice is to stop blaming yourself and start experimenting with different ways to compensate. Good luck!
Inspiration to NEVER sleep!!!!
i've watched plenty of procrastination and productivity videos and they usually present information from books or share quick tips, but this is such a unique take on the issue. the drawings were also super clever and funny, i cracked up multiple times at the screen!
The problem of this mentality, is at its core, it's just "work hard for others" and when you already are the one doing that in real life, for so many people, feeling like you're the only one putting blood sweat and tears into work and tasks, it's impossible to bring that to myself.
Because YOU are the only person you feel comfortable saying "fuck you, get your own damned shit done" since you know future you can do nothing but whine, and current you doesn't have to hear it
As you get older you begin to realize the most valueable thing on earth, time. The time is short.
One of the most remarkable videos on looking after our time. Thank you.
Looking at life throught the contextual lens that time is an illusion is so incredibly helpful. There is no yesterday or tomorrow, there is only ever now. What are you going to do with it? You can absolutely spend that time in pursuit of pleasure, that is absolutely fine and even sometimes recommend. But I don't think that's a very prudent or fulfilling past time.
"One must imagine Sisyphus happy" - Albert Camus
I’m sitting in front of my computer with an unfinished assignment open right in front of me procrastinating right now
I have never came across any youtuber mentioned browsing pinterest mindlessly😂 I can scroll for hours and then it's too late to do anything. Great video
This was honestly the most helpful thing I've heard in a very long time I think it actually gave me a new perspective
Thank you for sharing! Being baked to help others like yourself are why I make videos :)
Procrastination is a fight between present pleasure and future pleasure. The paradox kills you. But the next day, you're still there, and you still have the same problem. You're unable to break the cycle. However, if you reinterpret yourself as an imposter, it becomes easy to fight the good fight. You feel like the imposter, but you become your authentic self.
I love this video so much.
Your concepts really resonate with beliefs I’ve had about people for years now. I always said “every day is a different version of you”, but never heard anyone else share a similar view or talk about it so succinctly.
Amazing video man 🙏
That's a very great way of thinking.
Just watching a video and understanding how to not procrastinate will not change anything, have to actually apply that in my life. Thanks
This is perhaps the best video I've seen on the topic of procrastination! Love the unique angle you took. Keep up the great work!
Damn, never thought I'd meet someone with the same theory as mine...it's indeed true that you don't own your ideas, the universe works with frequencies...and only individuals with said frequencies that has been attainable through deep thinking and observations can listen to the universe ... The thought process shared in this video is one of them...❤
I wanted to thank you for making this video. I watched it yesterday and it’s completely changed how I look at myself. I used to be super critical to myself because I would always procrastinate and take the easy way out. But I’ve since then changed my mindset into what those past me’s accomplished and how I can build on top of what they started. Your other video on embracing pain has also helped me. Thank you thank you!!
I’m a big fan of the Past/Present/Future view of yourself. It’s something I have always thought of when I feel myself procrastinating. I really enjoyed your video and discussion of an internal/self tribe and community. Have a sense of servitude toward your future “selves” is a great way to put it!
bro just cured my procrastination and loneliness in less than 10 minutes
Love the way you've put it. I am going to be more committed to my community after listening to you :)
Hot damn, the first two minutes were surprisingly depressing
Anyway, this was one of the very few videos I've watched on self-improvement that actually have said something very meaningful instead of uselessly generalized information. I've never thought about looking at life this way, and I really want to start doing so now
This is one of the best videos I have seen on RUclips. Thanks for sharing this with the world, kind sir.
This is incredible, thank you. I’ve never thought about my life in this way - let’s go squad
Wow 😳... What an in depth understanding you have, brother. Beautiful...
Love how you jumped right into it. Thanks !
I love this!! This is such a great way to look at this - also kudos for the start, the start got me hooked on the video and made me keep watching!! This should be a TED Talk!
This is brilliant thanks man , total paradigm shift , you’re helping the world man good job
This works well for me because I’m a conscientious worker. I never leave stuff for the next shift to do that I could have done. Thanks for the analogy. It’s a great way to get sh!t done.
This is igniting my anxiety real bad
Something that really helped me is keeping a journal of the productive or difficult things I did that day, no matter how small. I tend to disregard my accomplishments and only focus on everything I didn't get done, but sitting down at the end of the day and appreciating all the small things I did to help my future self really builds a sense of competency and a hope that things are gradually getting better.
There are many things that i procrastinate in doing in large part because they are ultimately not worth doing or because they undermine my authenticity and values. We are human BEINGS not human doings and what can sometimes seem like procrastination is your truest Self refusing to conform to convention and the status quo. Either do stuff or don't but guilt will only create anxiety and dissatisfaction. Sometimes we need to truly let go of doing in order to just be.
Ohhhhhhh so that’s why I can stay up all night writing the report but I never have time to fill out my time sheets. Thanks friend!
You legitimately have some of the best content I have ever consumed from youtube.
I really like this concept ! Thank you so much!! This is great for people like me who are able to do for others more than they are able to do for themselves.
I heard this advice some months ago, it worked too well and had an anxiety attack just from stress.
Remember getting things done is not the only thing you have to do as your contribution for the tribe, your mental health and habits are to take care of. Remember to have time to think, just think, at least an hour a day, better if you workout.
Have a nice day :p
I've gotta say that something about this construction rubbed me the wrong way....BUT it was absolutely coherent and complete enough within itself that it's worth giving a try. So thanks for giving me a *really* new idea to work with🙂👍🏾
great video, I've watched a lot of videos on this topic, but this one is quite different. It is really a fresh look on the topic that's been talked about a lot over and over in the same way
wow this is really helpful. i had a rough version of this idea a couple of years ago and called it the "time travel team". visualising myself on different days as a team. the gratitude to past selves comes naturally with this. what i didn't think of is the intern idea. being the most inexperienced of them all. also, the "dying every day" is a stronger metaphor for this than time travel.
thank you!
this is the best video on procrastination. Thank you

I literally wrote this in my journal recently. "Always be growin'".
This is the most amazing video I’ve ever seen on this topic… wow… the phrase “future you will thank you” never really resonated with me until you put the idea into solid perspective like this. Now I feel guilty for slacking today, but boy is tomorrow gonna look different 😳 Thank you so much!! 💕
Wow, thank you! I’m very glad that this was helpful and so happy you were able to find my humble channel in your algorithm :)
A truly mind-expanding perspective!
I very rarely see videos with a title that keeps its promise.
This video is one of those. Amazing.
Thank you for this. It really hit home for me. I really appreciate it.
These are all great points! Thank you.
I think hell is not to procrastinate and still not become the person 'you could have been' i.e. 'your best self sucks'. This is a mayor motivation behind procrastination
yeah self-doubt adds a whole other type of obstacle on the road to success... it's hard to remember sometimes that even if you think you'll fail, you still have a chance to succeed, but only if you do something. If you do nothing, you're assured to fail.
I think in that case, it might be good to look at the root cause that is that's making you feel like you suck or that you even need to be anything else. It can be difficult if it's a particular dream job that you just can't quite reach because most of us can't be lucky enough to have what the world considers a "Dream job," but if it's something coming from external sources, such as feeling ashamed that you haven't lost as much weight as other people who work out as much as you do, or you haven't gotten a promotion in years despite working longer and harder than everyone else in your company, then you can start to examine why other people's lives should even compare to yours in the first place. As long as you're happy and/or content, that's all that matters.
And if you're unhappy, that's another angle you'll have to dig into. Are you unhappy because you're ashamed? Or are you unhappy because you wish you were doing something else? Both of those things can be solved. Even if you think the ONLY way you'd ever possibly be happy is if you were an Olympic gymnast but you're 38 and have never taken a gymnastics class in your life...even then, you can take an adult gymnastics class to scratch that itch. Then, you'd just have to do some inner work to be able to come to the place that is understanding and forgiving of yourself, knowing that you will never be in the olympics, but perhaps you can get a job at a local gymnastics facility. Maybe you can find a position where you can assist someone who IS an olympic gymnast, even if it's just carrying their bags and holding their water bottle for them. If that's not enough, then it wasn't the gymnastics that you cared about most. It was status, fame, and "success" from a world viewpoint.
If knowing you may never become a famous athlete or business mogul is too painful to bear, it might help to learn about all of the struggles that even the most successful athletes have in their life. And then compare that to the people who are TRULY happy who may have incredibly mediocre jobs and lives. Or they might have a really successful career, but one that they only achieved once they figured out how to be happy with themselves first. In other words, the happiest people aren't happy because they're successful or beautiful or perfectly fit. They're happy because they love themselves no matter where they're at in life. Not that they don't still have hard days where they're angry with themselves or sad about choices they've made, but they always have that underlying love. The same way you may be really angry at a loved one but still love them and care for them deeply.
Thank you for this. What a great way of thinking about it.
This was a cool and refreshing perspective on the concept. I will share this with my teenagers.
Profound and very helpful. I will take this up as a mantra to live by.
Love your videos! Your ideas goes right into place
rlly gave ‘everyday is a new day’ a deeper meaning 🎉🎉 (as a severe procrastinator, this vid was the best thing i watched)
I put off so much by watching RUclips videos... But seriously, this is a great discussion that really puts things into perspective. What helps me to get things done is to create and use checklists. I have one for everyday tasks that must be done and one for projects. But I don't just list the name of a project; I break it down into smaller, more manageable tasks and tackle them one at a time. I've accomplished so much this way.
Amazing bro! Loved this and well done 🙏
I adore all this art to help with the video visually as well as the speed because I usually x2 videos. This one gives you the promised info asap for the entire 9 minutes.
Let's get to working our contribution to the pool! 24 hours is quite short but even the biggest of trees come from the smallest of seeds, it's the same with deeds!

What I found useful:
Front loading the dirty job no one wants to do now, then take the day off.
Social pressure is stronger than anything.
The more goodwill you give then more you get in return.
There’s something magical about being part of a group working toward a goal larger than yourself. When your tribe is relying on you, you begin to feel it.
Awesome list!
Just...brilliant! Will certainly be recommending this to future me's! 🤔
Great video. I started working out 🏋️♀️ again two months ago. I made a point to go everyday as I knew if I missed one day, why not two, three.. and so on. So I said, no, go everyday until I’m dead 😵… well, I was weak on day one and left after 15 minutes. Slowly, I got stronger and stronger and stronger and I continue to get stronger. It’s actually amazing to me, as it seems supernatural when you transform yourself day by day into a new person. My health is greatly improved too, even my sex drive 😅 which wasn’t even my goal 😂. Indeed that’s how self improvement works.. we have a goal and as we strive towards it, we achieve a lot more than we were aiming for. I’ve been a life long goal setter and achiever. A lot of people don’t realize that they can design and tailor their lives however they want. It’s just a matter of setting goals and then fully committing to accomplishing them (or die trying). 😊
This is terrific. Thank you.
Best video and advice I've seen in decades
This perspective is creative and interactive. I like it.
Good reminders for me to stay focused ❤😊 keep movinng forward!! God Bless 😊
This was a wonderful, novel way to look at things.
This is a wonderful way to think, Not sure if it will work but i am already better just having heard this mentality. Thanks a lot, you have yourself a new sub
Bro went for the balls of philosophy and not the gut of science, was not expecting that.
I really like the part at the end where you said that the me of today is the dumbest one and my time is the least valuable out of all of those in the future who will come. This actually takes some pressure off. My work doesn’t have to be absolutely perfect and I don’t have to feel terrible, if I still have a lot of room for improvement. I still need to do what I can today even though I know it will not be perfect. And I also like the perspective that the time of future me is more valuable and I need to prepare things to free up, future me’s time. it is like I am a personal assistant to me.
Just put this in my watch later, I'll get around to it sometime.. Thanks in advance! ❤❤
Phenomenal! Sharing like crazy.
Amazing quality of contents thank you!
LOVE this take 🔥 Haven't heard this idea quite expressed like this and also loved the editing lol excellent video bru! Subbed!
You changed my life... thank you.
The idea of a person dying every day and being reborn every morning came to me years ago. I call it 'The Little Death'. The bad side is that it triggers my survival panic every time I go to bed. Interestingly, afternoon nap doesn't do the same. This has led me to taking a nap fully dressed instead of going asleep. After an hour or two I will wake up, take my clothes off and go back to sleep.
Preach brother, great content
Here is what has helped me:
- Stay grounded: remind yourself why you’re doing what you’re doing. For me, thinking of my parents
- Reward yourself in small and big steps. Ex: play video games after finishing a textbook chapter: Buy something when getting a good grade.
- Excercise, eat healthy, have a strong supportive network
- Get rid of time sinks like social media
Bro! You’re amazing :) this does help. Awesome 🤩 thanks 🙏
oh this is so smart and touches on something i did in the past. i have OSDD-1B but my system fused earlier this year. while i still resent the way it fucked with my boundaries and sense of identity, the sense of community and purpose i got from sharing my mind with several streams of consciousness was something that really carried me through all the shit i was going through, but now that im only living for me and my goals it's been really hard to move forward. doing things for the group of my future is such a valuable and intuitive way to look at it.
i also think this is why a lot of systems prefer the idea of functional multiplicity to fusion, having people who are you to count on your to make their lives better is a very comfortable motivator.
