The back seat instantly made me say nope, I do a ton of Kayaking and Mountain Biking but apart of that is shuttling friends around as well. This wasn't going to cut it, so I ended up getting an Outlander and a roof rack. I am really surprised the Tacoma did not make the cab larger in the back, I've seen the front seats have a lot more headroom and all but they neglected the back.
I love all Toyota's lame excuses about not increasing the cab size so it would still fit in a garage. The new Ranger is the same length and has 3 more inches of legroom, not to mention the standard minimum garage length since the 1960's has been 20ft, which is long enough to fit any current full size crew cab with a 5.5ft bed. A $55k truck and it can't even fit people in the back seat.
Where are you seeing 3” more rear legroom. According to their websites the Tacoma has 33.7” of rear legroom, and the Ranger has 34.6”. Of course that isn’t even taking into account that sometimes manufacturers sometimes measure or calculate their interior dimensions differently. Is there a video or something showing back to back demonstrations of rear occupant space?
Our house has a 20’ garage exactly and can’t fit my tundra in there without angling it and taking up the entire garage. I’m literally looking at downgrading to a mid sized just so I can fit it “comfortably” in the garage along with my wife’s car, although I agree the new tacos are outrageously overpriced for what they offer.
I'm confused. Aren't there other lines of trucks, even from Toyota, that fulfill your back seat needs? Plus there are SUVs to fill that need. Tacoma shouldn't even be nearly the size it is now to have a place in the car market. It's like you want every car to be everything all the time.
"We want small trucks again like the old S-10, Hilux, Ranger, Hardbody, etc!" _We can't fit three gorillas in the back seat of this truck!!!_ Someone let me know, is the 2024 Taco the same size as the outgoing model? Is it bigger? Is it smaller?
This comment is true af lol. People here in the U.S. drooling and begging for the new Hilux but then bitch about the lack of space of a mid-size truck 😂
This isn’t any different from any other truck in the midsize segment. My Chevy Colorado is the same. You could fit 3 large men in the backseat, but not comfortably. If you want that much room in the back seat, you should upgrade to a full-size truck.
I believe these guys have videos where they are sitting in the new Colorado/canyon like I have. I don't recall all of them at once but it's not the width of this cab that I'd be concerned with, their knees are pressed against the front seat
*makes the truck bigger* “The increased weight and size of this truck makes the powertrain feel like its sluggish” *more power* “The powerful is nice but the fuel economy really suffers. Not a good look for a midsize truck” *makes truck smaller and more fuel efficient* “This midsize pickup with a full 6’ft bed cant comfortably fit 3 full sized men in the back.” I swear truck buyers are running on like 6 brain cells. It’s supposed to be a small truck, you can’t have it all.
So it’s not expected that adults would not be able to fit in the backseat until you step up to a full size 1/2 ton pickup? Even though everyone else’s 1/4 ton is adequate. Don’t think you could even fit a rear facing seat in there.
I see literally no problem with this, I'm getting another tacoma, it was perfect for me, I'm 5'9 180 lbs. I fit perfect in the 2nd gen backseat, I used to own one. This I hope is the exact same size. Not to mention its faster, better on gas, and much nicer inside. Just gotta save up to afford a new one now lmao
Don't you dare get a mid size truck for your fam, 4 people of 5'11 is a tight fit. I've had a taco and a canyon. Canyon is a bit better but not a whole lot.
If your whole family is above 6'3" then this aint for you. I dont think any mid-sized truck would fit your people, even the gladiator (and I'm 6' tall and 295 and fit fine in the back).
Rather silly to diss a mid-sized truck with extra-sized passengers. When I need to carry big people I will drive my Powerstroke Excursion. My grandchildren, my Tacoma extended cab. More mpg with the Excursion. If only diesel were still priced below unleaded.
Agreed. The back seat is small, but the overall truck is awesome. I always like to keep a bunch of crap crammed in my back seat just so I don’t have to have a bunch of dirty shoes back there.
@josuecaleb5053 Most parents aren't going to buy their teenager a new 40k truck either. In today's economy they'll be lucky if they get them a chevy cruze.
@technom3598 I was thinking it should get the new 3.4 they used in the Tundra (which everyone was hoping for). And if you're talking about the dog slow 4.0, I agree with you. But the newer 3.5 2GR-FKS makes 278 hp in the current Taco (over 300 in the Camry version, so 278 is the lower end of that engine's capability), which is no weaker than the new 4-cylinder. If they want to compete with vehicles such as the Jeep 4XE (375 hp) or the Ford Ranger Raptor (405 hp), even their most powerful 2.4 hybrid (326 hp total) isn't gonna cut it, and it's not even close.
@@jamesreno3321300 hp V6 in a camry that weighs 1200 lbs less will feel quick. But not in a truck. Plus torque is more important than hp in a pickup and that 3.5 V6 makes no torque below 4000 rpm where the tall gearing and weight of the tacoma kill it
Lol. That back seat worked perfectly for me and the wife last night... Never even considered 3 up in it. We own a Grand Caravan, for a couple reasons. Me being a double amputee , and our business, or if the kids visit, we have a people mover, as we are awaiting a new member of our clan, late soring. Back sest is dry/vital gear storage on a trip. Or a bunk space. Hauls the boats out to the lake, deer from the woods, and is used as our shop truck. Most we ever mees to send out is 3. The Taco, the HDs, and our International CXT seat 5. It just never comes up.
Toyota has really dropped the ball on there trucks. First you drop the V-8, and use a twin turbo V-6 that is not reliable and more expensive. Of course you don’t stop there, then you drop the V-6, on the Tacoma to a turbo 4-cyl with even less room in the back seat. This is a recipe for failure.
Toyota trucks (save for the T100 and Tundra) have always been primarily I4s. The V6s were great engines, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not like the I4T is a complete left turn. I will agree though that the V6 hybrid in the Tundra sucks. Not because it’s a V6 (T100 and 1st gen got V6s), but because a hybrid full size truck is a stupid idea.
It's a Tacoma, does every truck nowadays have to be bigger and flashier, like some sort of luxury car in disguise? What happened to regular workaday trucks that blue collar people could actually afford?

Nobody buying one of these actually believes the back seat is made for three grown men. What a ridiculous complaint. If they need backseat room, they buy a Ram like mine. You can almost fit a Tacoma in my back seat.
They sacrificed rear seat room for front seat room, i think. I'm 6'3 and getting in the front of the old Taco was a chore sometimes. These new ones, there is way more room.
It’s one advantage the 2023 Ridgeline has over the new Taco. It’s a wider vehicle. It can also store 4x8 sheets of plywood & drywall flat, and has a more comfortable ride. Where the Taco excels is off-road.

Stupid accurate
In toyotas defense, you couldnt fit three American sized men in one back row seat of a minivan.
Toyota: Oh, what a feeling!
TFL staff: Oh, I can’t feel my legs!
its called a midsized truck for a reason.
Sometimes it pays to be 5'10" and 165 😂
I am 6'6" and this is 100% true. I can only fit in First class on airplanes and I am relegated to large pickups and SUVs until the day I die.
@@hajjdawood Lies bro, you can also get a full-size car like a Charger or Challenger or or a BMW 5-6 series?
@@matt889 What would I be lying about? I barely fit in full size trucks due to my shoulder width. Full size cars are a pain to get in and out of and most lack headroom. The mercedes S series was probably the more comfortable of full size cars but its still super tight and I am still paying 100k.
A tahoe is like 50k and with the diesel I get better MPG then any full size car

Next episode, fitting three 6'2 overweight males in a MX-5
Ah yes a tiny truck has a tiny back seat.
It's not tiny, it's about as long as a Tahoe.
I was so excited about the Ford Maverick, I held off replacing my old car hellbent on getting the XLT Maverick up until I looked in it.
Glad the see the comments are addressing things accordingly. Nothing here for me to do. As you were, gentlemen
The fact you can fit anyone in the back seat is a step up from the third gen
Thank you.
The new Tundra is disappointingly small as well.
Why are we complaining about a mid size truck not having full size room. That’s the whole point. 😂
Who woulda thought a Japanese truck wouldn't be able to fit giant dudes in the back seat?
Is there a video or something showing back to back demonstrations of rear occupant space?
ahhh Poor Gamertag you got fact checked on that. Why are you not replying?
Still toyota could have made an effort to add a few more inches in the back seat.
It's a tacoma, you it's basically the truck corolla... and you don't try to fit 5 guys in a tacoma... that's what the tundra is for
"We want small trucks again like the old S-10, Hilux, Ranger, Hardbody, etc!"
_We can't fit three gorillas in the back seat of this truck!!!_
Someone let me know, is the 2024 Taco the same size as the outgoing model? Is it bigger? Is it smaller?
This comment is true af lol. People here in the U.S. drooling and begging for the new Hilux but then bitch about the lack of space of a mid-size truck 😂
Almost like they make a larger truck with a larger back seat
There are no small size trucks that are suppose to fit three 200 pound dudes in the back seat comfortably
Seems tighter than 2nd-3rd gen. Toyota needs a Crew Max Taco.
It is a crew cab it just looks like a quad cab
Crew Max, aka Mega Cab
The 3rd gen Tundra is also tighter than the 2nd gen Tundra by all accounts.
@@Jay-me7gw Very true and toyota does not care at all. But its still spacious

I think the must disappointing thing is to try to fit overweight Americans on a midsize truck.
I cracked up... "Guy #2 touching Guy#1 in ways he's never been touched before" lmfao.. .
The Gladiator and Ridgeline have significantly more rear room.
Want room? BUY A FULL SIZE!!!
Full size trucks are more expensive and harder to maneuver. They should just make adequate seats in a mid size.
Anybody around when we use to see how many people can fit in a vw.
I wish the Tacoma was smaller than it is. Used to be a nice compact truck and has grown and grown over the years.
For crash ratings. You might actually survive now.

“The increased weight and size of this truck makes the powertrain feel like its sluggish”

“This midsize pickup with a full 6’ft bed cant comfortably fit 3 full sized men in the back.”
I swear truck buyers are running on like 6 brain cells. It’s supposed to be a small truck, you can’t have it all.
I'm the only American that wants single cab light duty trucks like the 3rd gen Ranger to return I guess.
@@Mika-ph6kugo to Nevada and find one to recondition. You'll be $$$ ahead.
It's a Tacoma, not a Tundra.
So it’s not expected that adults would not be able to fit in the backseat until you step up to a full size 1/2 ton pickup? Even though everyone else’s 1/4 ton is adequate. Don’t think you could even fit a rear facing seat in there.
@@robmd3851 Do you buy shoes a size to small then complain? Buy a bigger shoe!
Both shit.
@@Itsa_Mea No but you could complain if the Nike's you really wanted only came in a size 9 and you had to go buy Adidas for your size 12 foot.
Its just as tight in the colorado in the rear.
If you need to fit 5 adults in a vehicle, you don’t buy a midsize pickup. Nothing about this is “disappointing” it is expected.
Let just make it the same size as a Tundra…yes that’s the answer haha
No just make the rear cab longer and with more headroom, the Tundra is significantly wider.
How tall is everyone for reference? Been looking at the new tacos but family’s all above 6’3”
6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches in this vid
Dude, you’re out of your mind looking at this or any mid size truck. Go sit in an F150 crew cab. 😂
Why are you looking for a "small" truck if you have a tall family? That's like wiping before you poop, doesn't make any sense.
Rather silly to diss a mid-sized truck with extra-sized passengers. When I need to carry big people I will drive my Powerstroke Excursion. My grandchildren, my Tacoma extended cab. More mpg with the Excursion. If only diesel were still priced below unleaded.
Breaking news: small truck is in fact small.
Its the guys' health issue not Tacoma back seat issue 😂
Ford owners super jealous of all the man touching on the back seat 😂

Can we compare to the Colorado, Ranger, Frontier, and Maverick? I'm also curious to see how much space it has compared to last generation Tacoma.
Agreed. The back seat is small, but the overall truck is awesome. I always like to keep a bunch of crap crammed in my back seat just so I don’t have to have a bunch of dirty shoes back there.
Let's be honest. The backseat is really luggage space for 2 people out on a trip. May as well take the back seats out if you have a place to put them.

@@technom3598lololol. Another clown who is clueless. Ever heard of tuning?
Plus torque is more important than hp in a pickup and that 3.5 V6 makes no torque below 4000 rpm where the tall gearing and weight of the tacoma kill it
My 5'7" daughter always tells me how much she loves all the room in the back seat of my Ram 1500. It's a great truck.
So you're saying you have to be a double amputee to be comfortable in the back of a Tacoma? Got it.
@@marklihsu lol.
Not really, but it helps.
I wish Toyota would just make a full size truck already. That would solve back seat room.
Why are you acting like the Tundra doesn't exist?

Only a couple of dogs. Plenty of room.
Hard to keep up with you...not a month ago you had a short where you said Americans were 'kinda dumb' for buying big trucks and not driving the Asian death trap micro-trucks. Now the backseat of a mid size truck is not big enough?! Poor Andre having to work with you, smh.
Try and do this in a 98 S10 or Ranger, don’t forget this is a midsize truck! I’m 5’9 and fit comfortable in the back seat of my new Colorado Trail Boss, the average height of a American male is 5’8,,, these midsize trucks are very roomy for being midsize!
This is all because of Europe not eating out chickens. Look it up "Chicken Tax". This is REALLY why we can't have nice things.
Guys got fat. Trucks got bigger. This is what full size trucks used to be roughly sized at. Supersized in ~2010
Nobody buying one of these actually believes the back seat is made for three grown men. What a ridiculous complaint. If they need backseat room, they buy a Ram like mine. You can almost fit a Tacoma in my back seat.
I dont believe a pickup should carry more than 2 people and a dog, but i love your channel, and this narration is gold😂
They sacrificed rear seat room for front seat room, i think. I'm 6'3 and getting in the front of the old Taco was a chore sometimes. These new ones, there is way more room.
Never being a large pick up for its size is one of the best
Under no circumstances am I inviting 3 guys to ride in the back of my tacoma.. I’ll leave that to the Chevy and ford guys.
It’s one advantage the 2023 Ridgeline has over the new Taco. It’s a wider vehicle. It can also store 4x8 sheets of plywood & drywall flat, and has a more comfortable ride.
Where the Taco excels is off-road.
2nd row leg room is a real problem. It’s the only reason I cancelled my order.
Shit like this is how mini trucks just keep getting bigger and more expensive for no reason. Someone planning to transport men in the back just buys a full size king cab.
