Damn that looks fun! I got my first taste of trout fishing in November of 2021 around Boone, NC and had an awesome afternoon! About 10 trout in 2-3 hours. rainbows and brookies. Videos and pictures never do the beauty of these fish any justice. Such an incredible experience.

Cripple Creek in Rural Retreat ,VA. Yellow Creek in Pn. And Soque River in North Ga. You'll be amazed. Cherokee is king for numbers but for sheer size. Those three are tops

Check out Linville river/Linville gorge. My favorite place to hike in and camp and fish is on the East Fork over by the wahalla fish hatchery. It's where NC SC and GA all touch. Beautiful spot

Ocanoluftee River running through Cherokee, NC.... But most of the 4 different rivers in that 50sq miles are very, very similar. You cannot go wrong if all you do is get near this area. Tuckaseegee River is also lovely for trout & even wider, like Montana/Colorado. I cant do the right-next-to-a-tree cast yet.

Ocanoluftee River running through Cherokee, NC. This section is called The Raven Fork, but the entire 100sq miles around it hold about 4 different major rivers & their creeks & the same incredible landscape & fishing. Tuckaseegee in Bryson City is as wide as rivers in Montana & Colorado. You cannot go wrong if you just get near this general area of the GSM.

Dead fish. You wore them out by not bringing them straight in and unhooking them. They more than likely died from fatigue after you released them. I hope to God that you don't do that with the delicate wild ones. These are stockers but you can still kill them like you did.

As a life long trout fisherman for over 70 years, I must say that he played that first fish way too long. Granted, these are stockers but you still want to 'preserve and protect". You're setting a bad example to people who don't know any better and will think that's how you're supposed to do it.
