STOP Wasting Your Time Red Drum Fishing the Wrong Way
What flies were you using?
Never gets old watching these great videos and listening to the tips from the pros.
Always love watching Ricky and guests catching these Specks!
You guys are getting flamed in the comments for your handling techniques. I'm also from Wisconsin, moved to NC and i can assure you dont have musky here bro.
Great fishing
What river is this
The New River near Jacksonville.
There were at least two shows with this pair. Very entertaining even with the many W.C. Fields impressions. For many years I was in a volunteer organization that promoted boating safety by teaching classes and giving courtesy vessel safety examinations. These two really stood out in that respect, that little "boat" was so overloaded and no sign of a life jacket anywhere. But as the COJ team noted, they caught some real nice fish and they had a lot of fun. RIP Mr. Dupree
Great video. Going for specks on the fly tomorrow.
Great episode. Mark is hilarious. 😂 We're getting nights in the 20's this coming weekend/week....definitely time to hit the back of the creeks with curly tails. 👍
Great video new subscriber
Thanks!!
Nice red fish
Nice!!
Thank you!
Awesome!!
Thanks for watching!
That boat followed y’all all day, huh? Or was it part of your camera crew
Awesome video, about to binge watch all the new ones
Enjoyed the video. New sub from my channel to yours. Appreciate the tips!
Say what you want I got no problem with keeping a mess of croaker they make for tasty vitals
I saw a 12 pound flounder called off Rodanthe pier in Hatteras, it looks like a dead juvenile halibut
My sons and i would love to fish with this guide whats the info?

That was quick. It’s not really this easy people. This guy is a pro
Man, this was a long time ago! But, it's all still relevant today. Wish they would bring this back to TV again!
Great Stuff! Looks like you are between Grimesland and Tranters creek.
thumb in gills sub optimal
I have always have enjoyed your program since I was young. Thanks for the good information. Do we know how hurricane Helene has affected the stocking program?
Thank you, we don't know how the hurricane affected the stocking.
Never thought I would watch an old show like this and think, “remember the good ole days when we could use mullet for bait.”
Joe Albea for president. 🇺🇲
Try taking a shot every-time he says I love it
I love it!
It said a redfish less than 10 pounds is considered a puppy drum 😂 more like less than 3 lbs. A slot is 18"-27". An Average 17" is 2.5 - 3 lbs.
Other than that it's a good video, thanks for sharing
@@caydee2601 😂
Thanks!
Legend tying a legendary fly. Really appreciate this. 👍👍👌🎣
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow. You could drive out to hatteras inlet back then. Now I gotta drag my cart like a 1/4 mile..
Would it be worth trying to troll for them that time of year or would the cool water have them too lethargic?
I Like the classic shows. Thanks
Jimmy Price...........the man.........the legend.........I have the same hat!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP Jimmy
Nothing better
I was watching the video and when they talk about gear time, they mentioned that the Lupton rig was going to be a new requirement. It became effective in 2009. So that tells me this video was released somewhere around 2008 to 2009. Here is the link for that regulation and that’s how I determined that date. reports.oah.state.nc.us/ncac/title%2015a%20-%20environmental%20quality/chapter%2003%20-%20marine%20fisheries/subchapter%20j/15a%20ncac%2003j%20.0306.pdf
Is this recent?

Please see my comment. I tried to reply to you. However, it just posted as a new comment. reports.oah.state.nc.us/ncac/title%2015a%20-%20environmental%20quality/chapter%2003%20-%20marine%20fisheries/subchapter%20j/15a%20ncac%2003j%20.0306.pdf
Great show Joey 👍. This Old Man from Washington NC loves Top Water fishing 🧔💝
Fresh, brackish or salt water?
“ oh that’s a pretty fish right there.” Love to listen to these good ol boys.

Love it!!
This is an old video.. look at the fish finder and trolling motor.. Ricky is the man!
I appreciate you taking the time to comment! Ricky does have some amazing insights, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Saying the MR-17 is a new bait gave away this video's age 🤣 (I've actually watched this before, they must've just re-uploaded this one...a classic)
Clown drives into shark, just leave the fff thing be
Great show, but a speckled trout is not a weakfish. They're closely related but are very much two separate species. Am I missing something?
Yeah, that 'Journal Note' was incorrect. Should have read: Spotted Seatrout (speckled trout) We mainly only catch weakfish in the ocean and just inside the Cape Fear River in our area down here.
@gd3design63 they used to be caught in insane numbers around the Wrightsville jetty. Back in the 70s it wasn't a big deal to catch a 10lb weakfish off the jetty. I know some old timers that have told me nobody would raise an eyebrow at one until it was up around 13lb
We gotta find the females lol
You can always tell the hammerheads by their tall narrow dorsal fins. Similar to Orcas.
Beautiful lake. Enjoyed the episode
Glad you enjoyed it
honestly iresponsible to even have that available as a resource as limited as our muskie fishing is in NC. if everyone rolled em around in the sand an hoisted them around in the net we would have none.
just horrible fish handling. awful example of c&r techniques. bad even for the years this was filmed in.
Good video, but unfortunately there were some questionable handling techniques. No thanks. They need a bit more help with landing these fish.
