Launching January 31st on #Pixel8 and Pixel 8 Pro, Circle to Search is a new way to search anything on your phone, without switching apps.¹ Rounding up answers from images, text, and even videos is as easy as:

For all the people who are commenting Google copied Samsung or Samsung copied Google, it's actually an Android feature created by Google themselves. They provided the feature to Samsung as part of their partnership. It's the exact same feature in Samsung and Pixel. It's just like Google Lens, made by Google but available on all Android phones.

Hey it stopped working on my pixel yesterday
One can do the same thing right now on pixel devices but without drawing a circle .you just resize the Google lens box .
Would love to see these on the 7s and maybe 6s. It's a software feature that the G2 chip will definitely handle.

They've abandoned 7s. All exciting features are reserved for 8s now. I regret buying 7pro now. Should've either waited for 8 Pro or gone with Samsung.

By the way, you can already search images on Pixel 8 easily! Just tap the Recents button and it will then offer options to search with Google Lens or save it if it detect image. Circle Search is just another way to precisely target specific objects within an image, especially if there are multiple objects present.

I don't believe this features out yet so that's maybe the reason why it's not on the pixel 7. I have a pixel 8 pro and I don't have this feature yet

Love the Pixel 8 Pro. I do wish I would have known that it doesn't support Digital Keys yet, kinda stinks and wouldn't have upgraded to it so quickly. But it's "coming soon" now for months so hopefully for real soon.

I'm curious on what Apple will name this same feature on their phones 5 years from now. I can guarantee that the words "circle" and "search" won't be in it.
Apple sort of has one it’s called “visual lookup” of course it’s not as detailed and has as much information but it’s in their photos you swipe up or press and hold text or some images! Sometimes it’ll tell you ingredients for foods also what type of animal and it’ll explain what certain diagrams mean like for washing/drying cloths direction!

I think, in photos library, trash icon is above my pictures. I think it should be lower than my photos. Trash should be at the bottom. Also widget photos. Should be give an option to select only pictures we want to display. I have just bought a new pixel phone. Hopefully, your team can release update. Thank you

How is this any different to just using Google lens on your screen through the assistant?
You don't have to open assistant, you don't have to open lens. You don't have to wait for Lens to scan the picture
With this you just hold the Nav symbol and then circle what you want
@@JustinDufrene you absolutely have to wait for lens to scan the picture, otherwise lens won't scan the picture lol. The only improvement I see here is, like you said, that you can instantly circle what you want searched, instead of bringing up the assistant menu and only then pressing the "What's on my screen?" button, but that seems like a minor quality of life improvement at best

Wasn't that obvious, but to activate it on a Pixel you have to long press at the very bottom of your screen where there is a thin white line.

If features such as this dont come to the previous line ups like the pixel 6 pro im definitely switching to the S - Ultra Series from Samsung . Instead of buying the next Pixel 9 Pro Lineup . Having new features that are definitely capable to run on older devices is just important.
They mentioned "Only on Android" that probably means every Android will get that possibly by the Google I/O and Assistant with Bard. And by "Only on Android" means, iPhones would not get it 😂

So like many other commenter said this was designed by Google for Android devices, so I'm pretty sure your device will get it And for Samsung devices when it comes to updates you have to wait longer than pixel owners because Samsung is the one in charge of releasing updates And honestly, how well has the update releases been with Samsung? They're slower than Google and apple when it comes to software releases
I read somewhere that it is coming to all pixel phones from 6 onward.

Yeah, why can't this feature come with the Pixel 6 & 7 series? If they need an NPU to use this, but the Pixel 6 & 7 series already have an NPU, Google needs to stop excluding these small features on newer phones. It just makes no sense. Are they abandoning us?😢

Not exactly, but yeah… Also the thing in the video is Google assistant, you have to long press the home button to activate that and search picture, meaning, highlight on screen. Like you'd be able to press the home button and know what these 🌚🌝 emojis mean. Also it is possibly coming with the updated, Google Assistant with Bard.
