I'm pretty sure we might get that on the March feature drop on order Pixel starting with Pixel 6 series and up.
Google to Search is awesome, could see myself using the feature all the time. I also like the fact that you can just swipe down and go back to what you were doing.

It's the same as Google Lens.
@@joshualebowitz it's a bit of a quicker step than Lens is. With Lens, you gotta take a screenshot and then you can look it up with Lens. With Circle to Search, it's just a hold of the navigation bar. I think it's better than taking a screenshot, and then having to delete that screenshot after.

Magic eraser was meant to be a pixel exclusive feature but then came to all google one subscribers. Similarly, think Circle to Search can definitely come to other Tensor phones. It would be sick of Google to snake the 6 and 7 series users but then that’s what I’ve come to think of their pixel brand
What's the best guess on the 8a release? Though I don't think I can live with 128gb only
this is a hyped feature because any android user can use it hold the center of nagivation button and activate google assistant then you have option to screen search that works like circle to search .
Yah. Like he said, it's really just Assistant Screen Search but with fancy animations. However, I have noticed with personal testing and from online discussions that Circle to Search is actually somehow worse. Instead of using the full Lens feature set, it instead uses a dumbed down version. No translate or work button, no auto select, not even smart recognition (barcodes and QR codes), and that's just some of the handicaps that I have come across myself. Who knows how many other features weren't ported over to this mass marketed rebrand of a feature.
@@lulushishi google lens is still there u can use it freely. Circle to search is an upgraded version to make "screenshots" of specific things & paste in into the search bar. or mark text & translate, copy or search for it. its dumbed down by how easy to use & how simple it is, yes. when i tried it out it works flawlessly & way faster than the old way. Screen search is still there. or the old assistant by saying the keywords or enabling the digital assistant etc. so idk where is problem is, maybe user error, but not gonna assume it. for my understanding holding the home button never brought google assistant up anyway (at least with my other 2 phones it does literally nothing). i use the digital assistant by holding the power button which brings on all phones the normal assistant up.
like the webcam feature , this is another hidden gem ....soon on my 7a i hope
So how do I activate the assistant now?
It's just a fancy gueture, Google already had it without gueture, going to recent apps and then "select" option.
You can do anything from there copy text, image search.
Can you get this if you are on the Beta channel?

What do I do if my google search version doesn't have the "cts" in the version? I checked for updates and I have the newest version.
The most surprising thing is I kept checking for updates every single hour. But it was so discreet I noticed it was done automatically on the Google app 😂

Pixel 7 update was borked and I still don't have it. I don't particularly care too much though since the lens feature built in to the recent apps screen is better imo.
I have it and it's a gimmick. It's something I might use once per month if at all
@@playtester6635 I am happy enough with what the Pixel can already do. I've tried it on a Pixel 8 and it isn't as good as the one already built into the Pixel imo. The only thing it does differently is keep you in the app.
I don't have the circle to search update. But I have the newest one available in the play store it was updated Feb 28th.
Before update circle to search was working perfectly but after reset not working

It's not so easy to push software updates to all pixel models, it takes time and work. They have to go through many passes for security and privacy..
As a long time Pixel user accessing Lens is easy so I thought it wouldn't make much of a difference. I was wrong. Quick circle and you'll have a face with the name that was mentioned in the article that you're reading. I use Lens even more now. Google should opens this to more phones. Pretty cool update.
Why?, Many people think google should keep some pixel features only on pixel phones. If you could do everything pixel does on any android phone, then there would be no incentive to buy a pixel phone. If google asked me (which they won't) I would tell them to not release any pixel features to any other phone. No need to wonder why pixel sells so few phones each year, Google gives away all of the pixel exclusive features and then wonders why sales are so low. They are now releasing some Pixel AI features to Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra phones. Not very Smart.
I can't get my circle thing to work. I have the 8 pro, when I push or hold that same area nothing happens. What am I doing wrong.
I have a 7 pro and also nothing is happening when I hit the button, so I'm guessing don't have it yet? Idk

There's nothing to figure out for older devices. They are just holding out probably until May when the 8A comes out. It would be great if those of us with last year's flagship could also get current features without waiting for no apparent reason besides attempting to force people to buy the latest and greatest

Lol.. it already had it but in other way but can do the same job..
When you go to recent tabs there you can actually pic a image, link or text from that particular tab and also can do lens search from it.. but now its just there in for of circle to search on the app..
For me its not bug difference and i am using pixel 6a
Im confused. I have a pixel 4 xl and I can already do this.
You dont have to take a photo to search for something with google lens ... just open lens and just aim you camera at what you want to search

You can do this on any phone that's newer than 3-4 years. You can use google assistant screen search. It's the same thing, you also have OCR, translation, qr scanning..

Great option with a bad implementation, I mean who uses Google's app to search anything, in roughly 12 years using smartphones I never used it to search anything nor do I ever seen someone using it for that everyone goes straight for the browser to do that, so imo this should show us the results on whatever app we choose to use as our default browser
Been enjoying circle to search on my pixel 8 pro. Can't wait for the AI functionality as well!

There was already Google lens.... This is pretty much a more gimmicky version of it .. I haven't even used it at all yet. Nice to have the one ui 6.1 update on s22 ultra, but... Meh.

there is no circle to search - update on my pixel 8 pro.
Make sure you got the latest updates in the play store and system. Once you do just hold that button line and it pops up

Can't believe Google is just ignoring the fold and older devices so much, glad I bought the fold for £900, their most expensive device but it's definitely not their flagship device. Google weird.
Everything I have read says that Google is not ignoring older pixel devices. Older devices will get this feature a little later. It just makes sense to release something to your newest phones first. It would not be wise to release a feature to an older device first then your newest phones later.

They are able to bring this feature to all the Android smartphones but they want to keep this with the premium only 🤦 You can do that with Google Assistant so what's the matter to bring this for normal Smartphones.
Does Apple get any of their features like iMessage and other Apple exclusive stuff to other phone manufacturers? No, right? Then y u expect Google to do that? But Google is still generous to offer some features on all Android phones so guess u should be happy with what u get, at least they're not as stingy and money hungry like Apple

It is kinda useless for Pixel devices, since it was already built-in, but it's supposed to be used to search without even leaving the app.

£1799 fold doesn't have it disgrace. I'll give it two more months for the fold to get all of the features the 8 series has after that I will move brand and not return to pixel I have had them since the pixel 2 and over the years have been taking things away one by one ie free original photos for life
