Aqua touch on the OnePlus is the most underrated feature ever for me. Nobody is talking about it, but I'm constantly using my phone in the rain or while doing dishes or something!
@@nikchris69 I suspect they just mean someone texts or calls and they have wet hands, or listening to music while doing the dishes and you want to change the track, that kind of thing.
7:35 Even though Google said they'll support it for 7 years, I don't believe the chipset can live that long with the weaker performance. 8gen3 for 7years is definitely better than Tensor G3
That 7 year update support is just a sale tactic. By the time you reach year 3 you'll have an up to date phone that you have to plug in every 3-4 hours.
It was a tough call between the 8 Pro and 12, but just ordered the 12. It will replace my OnePlus 5T, still fresh after six years! Its just the battery thats getting bad and the camera system thats a bit outdated.
I think it is enough already with the 7-years support fairytale. Pixel 8 is already 2 years behind in internal h/w. Just imagine for a moment how this will look in 2030. Or try to use a phone from 2016 instead and see how it feels. Besides, does anyone think that the next OS updates will keep rolling out all the next new features to P8 for the next 7 years ? All in all, you are comparing a phone that runs circles around Tensor-3 chip versus the pixel 8 that allows you to...move objects around in photos. Yeah, tough choice.
Dude, 7 year old phone like s8 still hold up well with ufs 2.1, 4gb ram, 64gb storage. Even faster phones with better storage, ram, processor can definitely do that too.
@@frankreynolds9930 Sure. The difference is that S8 was at top tier in its time. P8, though, is already 2 years behind in performance and not exactly a top-tier in everything else, right now.
@perperikis5501 Doesn't matter if it's 2 gen behind. It has good enough memory, storage, ram which are flagship level. For regular usage, don't need the best processor, even it's 7 years later. Even 7 years old midrange like redmi notes can handle custom rom and experience is good. They had all average midrange specs.
@@frankreynolds9930 Maybe for a very regular use, I don't know. But I find it a bit odd for somebody to be willing to pay a relatively high price for a Pixel phone in 2023 and keep the same phone for 7 whole years, instead of getting a new one every 3 years with half the money (e.g. a midrange - in 2 or 3 years midrange phones of the time will be better than Pixel 8 for half the price).
Honestly I feel like for most people it isn't even close and the OP12 is the clear winner. I think you have to really be trying or absolutely obsessive about Pixel's cameras or just a constant Pixel user to be considering it when you're stacking these phones together. Design is obviously subjective, but there is really very little that I like about the way the Pixel looks. I don't absolutely love the OP12 either, but neither is really offensive, and the Pixel to me is bordering on plain and boring. Performance wise it isn't even close, and ultimately it sort of just comes down to software and cameras. Software is excellent on both, really, and both phones have some pretty cool software tricks. The main edge Pixel has there is the amount of support, but I mostly feel like that many years of support is excessive for most users anyways. Also, while I do love the Pixel camera, I think it is way more of a tie on still photos than your assessment. I think there are a number of the pictures produced by the OP12 that look clearly better with the more natural look, especially a lot of the night shots, which look way overexposed and fake via Pixel's Night Sight. Further, there are shots on the OP12 where the sun is directly in the shot and the entire foreground is dark as a result, and I am 90% sure if you just tapped to focus on your subject, it would easily adjust for the lighting condition, but it seems as though you just point and shot the photo. Video on the other hand, I do think is an absolute clear win for Pixel, but I also think that content creators tend to put WAY too much emphasis on video capture, naturally, especially when discussing the selfie camera video capabilities. In the end, I just think it is tough to ignore just how much you get with the OP12. Significantly faster processor, amazingly bright screen that can detect water separately from swipes, 50w fast wireless charging (which is being widely overlooked), 100w corded fast charging (and the charger comes in the box), wifi 7 (which I have read does not work on Pixel 8 but this may have changed in an update), an IR blaster, 16/512 configuration upgrade for free if you preorder, insane cooling via the largest cooling vapor chamber on a phone in the US, impressive gaming mode stuff (for a non gaming phone) like frame insertion techniques. It almost isn't a fair fight.
Pixel is trash these days, super expensive phone with ordinary features... Samsung, OnePlus and all other companies already do better than Google.. Google don't care about Android anymore since long time ago..
The recent exynos, Samsung uses in the s24 series, seems to actually be Compatible to the snapdragon 8 gen3, at least in terms of performance. Don't know about efficiency though.
@@Orque01 Pixel 8 pro is the smartest phone for me. Camera is one of the best if not the best. Software is just best (for those who like clean android) and usefull AI features work almost perfectly. Yeah there are more powerful phones but pixel is smarter so it's just more seamless.
The Oneplus 12 is the easy winner here even if I'm a pixel fan . Camera wise I think if the pics aren't put next to each other I wonder you would think if there's any thing wrong with the Oneplus pics.
some shots looked like they were taken from a 3 year old midrange redmi phone, not quality rather having issues to capture enough light. otherwise it's an ok camera system but I would still prefer other brands
I dont know why youtubers tech are pixel fanboys!! Op 12 is easily a better phone in evrything, pixel is good too but with over exposer cam, even the processor of op 12 is better!
One thing not enough reviewers mention is the OnePlus "eye friendly" OLED screen. OnePlus has tuned their PWM to over 2kHz compared to Samsung and Google's 240hz and for folks with dry-eye this is a real game changer....hopefully. I'm counting on it. My S24+ has been killing my eyes for the past few years.
I swear if Samsung or Apple did this no reviews will shut up about it, another thing they will never mention is how the oneplus better feeling in the hand and more comfortable to hold instead of using the stupid boxy design I hope apple changes it with the 16 pro so this trend stops
After suffering through the Pixel 6 and 7 I probably will never go back to Google phones. Hardware was ok, Screens had weird color banding, software was incredibly buggy doing things phones need to do.... like wifi, messaging and (gasp) voice calls. Been with Samsung for a while but as a photographer I've put my preorder in for the OnePlus 12. No AI software shenanigans here, just good lenses, sensors and color tuning by one of the best in the photo business (Hasselblad).
the photos are way too dark on the OnePlus idk why they make a well lit area so dark for some reason, just doesn't look what ur eyes see. unless it's a software bug and they're gonna fix the issues
Having suffered with Samsung cameras for the past few years, I was keen to jump to pixel, but I think you're right. Reliability in operation is important, and the photos being less processed isn't inherently bad.
im a photographer, so if I get an image i really like i bring it into Lightroom and do my edits on a calibrated monitor smartphone pictures are really fantastic now, as good as the old point and shoots as long as there's enough information in the file I'd rather bring up the exposure than have blown highlights and too much sharpening
The best camera I have used on OnePlus. Now, OnePlus offers a very big leap. A very large main sensor and a huge periscope camera. OnePlus 12 is truly a masterpiece.
I will mention that wireless charging destroys batteries faster than anything else . They get too hot , and heat destroys batteries . Just wanted to inform you in case you didn't know .
I was initially thinking ‘oh here we go with another RUclipsr choosing the Pixel 8’ … so I’m honestly surprised with your preference in the end. You’re right, most people would go with the OP12 and the main driver in my opinion is the price. Its performance just leaves the Pixel in the dust. The cooling system alone is pretty advanced as well. Keep it up with the reviews and I’m subscribing to your channel now :)
@@vilkotesarmlThere are literally phones dedicated to gaming out there. Don't get butthurt because Pixel got shitted on. They won't be the only ones. OnePlus is coming for everyone's lunch this year
@@gabrielsemipro you said about performance, but you don't need to score max benchmark to be the best.. camera, software is better (software for me, but it's just preference) and camera (+ AI features that are so much usefull) are really just better and I find it smoother compair to One plus software. Cooling system is really great, but I have not seen any critics about phones without it getting hot( except for iphone I heard). But one wise man said.. in today's world, you can't find bad phone.. even cheap one's
I got the 8 pro for $400 through my carrier in the US. The camera was good, but the AI features were over rated. The phone would crash trying to run them, it would over heat too often, would stutter time and time, and the battery life was bad for a huge phone like that. I ended up selling it and looking to either try out the S24 Ultra or the OnePlus 12. I had the 11 last year, but returned it cause of stuttering issues cause of the software.
for my experience all flagship phones have terrible battery life, u get ~ 1hour more screen time on the s24 for example compared to the p8p, drained every phone within 1 day (the more "efficient had 5-10% more battery which is still bad since i have to charge it anyway) (and seems battery drain tests ive seen were about the same). its more like pick your poison at this point. more powerful = more battery drain. i have a backup phone for 150$ with an SD 680 which is very slow & weak but battery life is insane. (in my experience it lasts 2-3 days depending on usage)
Pixels might get a whole lot better soon, they're gonna switch to a snapdragon based chip (chances are its still gonna be an older chip as the basis but it comes with snapdragon performance and efficiency) on the tensor G5 i think, so the pixel 10
I have the 8 Pro and preorderd the OnePlus 12. I normally keep two phones. Typically and iPhone or a Samsung and the second device is a Pixel. Ill use the others for daily use and switch to a Pixel for events or trips that I am taking a lot of pictures. The Pixel cameras are just consistently good. Recently I got a OnePlus Open as my daily and was blown away with how good the photos were. I noticed I stopped taking the Pixel with me places for photos because I wasnt making a massive compromise with camera performance anymore. It just turns out I am not a foldable guy since it was my first one and I wasnt using the foldable features enough. I sold it to get the 12 since they share an almost identical camera setup (the 12 has a slightly larger main sensor). Bear in mind the Open took 4th place behind MKBHDs Blind Camera Test, trailing behind a trio of Pixels. So its not just my anecdotal opinion. They made a huge leap in camera performance between the OnePlus 11 and the Open. I am sure after a few updates the cameras on the 12 will be just as good as the Open was and I cant wait until mine arrives on the 1st. As far as function goes the 12 will undoubtedly have superior battery life and cellular connectivity (if you venture outside metropolitan areas) if my experience with the Pixel 8 Pro and the Open are anything to compare it with. I also expect the 12 to be much faster in every meaningful way. Performance, charging, processing videos, WiFi/LTE/5G speeds, etc. So at that point the main difference will be Googles "AI" features and the UI. Some of Pixels smart features are useful but many arent fully fleshed out yet. OnePlus made it a point to discuss AI capabilities on the SD 8 gen 3 chip but didnt mention a single AI feature coming to either 12 series phone. You will also get longer updates on the Pixel, but at the rate it goes through battery I would suspect youll need a replacement every 3 years to make it through a shift at work. Its not a bad phone but Tensor is quiet inefficient and really holds the phone back from being a serious flagship contender. I may very well end up changing up my habits and selling the Pixel and just sticking to the 12 once they get the camera bugs worked out. One reviewer mentioned seeing improvements after a Camera update they received the day they were recording their review and showed some comparisons. Seemed to help a lot.
Thanks for your detailed review, lol. I also got the Pixel 8 pro, but returned it after a week because I preferred my Oneplus 10 pro to it, and decided to wait for the 12 instead. I'm pretty excited about upgrading to the 12.
@@AwinashGuptar I can barely keep up with my 4 kids when they are running around. Having to whip out a camera and fiddle with settings means that moment I wanted to capture is probably long gone. Convenience trumps capability for me like most people.
I really don't get it why Oneplus camera is always put in the mediocre category by most reviewers. Looking at the side by side pics, OP's pictures were many times more natural and balanced and the Pixel seems to favor too much HDR, the photos look way too processed.
No, in my opinion Oneplus12's camera is much much better than pixel 8's. I personally just much prefer Chinese phone cameras nowadays, my favorite is oppo find x ultra.
@@harryvlogs7833 Well yes, but also OnePlus has bigger battery, faster charging speed, higher peak brightness for the screen, more RAM and faster storage. The Pixel only wins for the software, everything else is better in the OnePlus
I was waiting for oneplus 12 to come out but i decided i will switch from oneplus to pixel 8 pro soon because better design, wayyy better camera imo (and better editing features), better software (colorOS is so bad from my experience) (and longer software support), better haptics, FLAT SCREEN with even bezzels !!!, i dont do gaming so tensor performance isn't an issue to me and battery life seems to only be slightly better on oneplus (as seen on battery life tests on YT)
Maybe if the pixel didn't have a chipset that is 2 generations behind it would be nice. How is this phone going to perform 2 years from now or even further. The oneplus is gonna be silly smooth 2 years from now with all that ram and powerful gen3 chipset
@@doudymac ik but they market it as flagship pro phone. It's just not going to keep up as well as the current snapdragon phones years to come. It may be fast now but after they add more and more updates you'll be wishing you had a slightly faster CPU. Luckily if the rumors are true that they use exynos chips the current generation of exynos is right there with snapdragon so they won't be a generation behind when the 9 pro comes out.
@@MB-jz3uu I'm still on the 7 Pro. Coming from a OnePlus 9 Pro I can def see the performance drop. Don't care for mobile gaming or anything like that. If you give a shit about performance then yeah your right. I just think ai isnt here yet and its just too much of a gimmic, i think the tensor 3 is actually not that bad, its certainly better then the exynos 2200 and i have noticed performance improvements and better battery life with the tensor g3.
@@AssassinIsAfkoh believe me you can’t even compare snapdragon 8 gen 3 to Google’s tensor. 8 gen 3 is like the most powerful mobile processor in the world

I own a pixel 8 pro and not once have I thought I need more performance, I own a gaming pc for that performance, I own a phone to just watch RUclips, use twitter ect, I don't need 120fps on games on 1080p high on a mobile phone to use twitter, RUclips ect and I highly doubt you play games on your phone for more than a hour a day.

I prefer the images from OnePlus 12. I don't like the postprocessing on the Pixel. The images from OnePlus will be much easier to work with when you take the images in to the PC for manual postprocessing.
I have pixel 8 pro and all I can say is that I love it. Buy whatever you like or afford. This days are more cheeper phones than can give you exactly what you need.
pre-order the OnePlus 12 yesterday coming from a pixel 7 pro I don't think I'll miss the software too bad. and I am betting on OnePlus software innovation. even tho the track record hasn't been great, but hey crazier things have happened
Strictly speaking, I'm not really sure that OnePlus is gunning for the Google pixel series any more than they're gunning for the Samsung Galaxy s series. Although, they have priced their devices to undercut both of them. I did want to point out that the 12 is only temporarily priced at $800 here in the United states. That is the pre-order price. Once that is over, it will go up to its normal $900 price tag. In my opinion, the 12 is the clear winner. Once more, it comes with a legitimate flagship processor. The pixel series utilizes the tensor chipsets which I view as a work in progress. As far as build quality and style is concerned, I also give that to the 12. It's really different from anything you'll see on the flagship market. Conversely, the Google pixel series this year is pretty much the same old same old. At the end of the day, I feel the OnePlus is the best overall value feature for feature. They're giving you a lot for a price that isn't out of the question. I did want to touch base on updates. The Google pixel series may give you 7 years of updates but, are you really going to use that device for 7 years? On the other hand, the OnePlus does offer 4 years of OS updates. However, they also give you 5 years of security patches. Realistically, I think 5 years is a far more realistic time frame that the average user will keep a device.
@@SuperDenver80 no, it looks different. None of those other brands have the circular watch dial camera bump on the back. Perhaps, it's time to get your eyes checked. LOL
@@SuperDenver80 by the way, nearly every component of a pixel device is manufactured in china. The only exception being the substandard tensor processor and the display which were both manufactured in South korea.🤣
The main problem behind Oneplus or any other android cameras except Pixel is software. Oneplus12 cameras (hardware side) are newer and better. GCAM modding is what every android user needs, I have OP8Pro Myself and after a lot of tweaking I finally made myself a gcam setup that kills not only my phone's competitors, also their successors.
That's what I'm talking about. As soon as developers come up with a GCAM mod for the One Plus 12, you may not see a difference at all in camera quality between the Pixel 8 Pro and the OnePlus 12.👍
I got the OnePlus 12 and OP watch 2 a few weeks ago and I'm enjoying the experience, so far. Shelved my S23 Ultra. I still use my Pixel 7 Pro, as I'm one of the few that still like the curved screen. Aesthetically pleasing to me and I barely have accidental touch issues with a case on them.
Dude just take one look at your comments and you'll see that your fear of calling a mid-range companies phone better then the Pixel is absolutely in vein...we all know the OnePlus is better lol stop catering to the titans of industry and be honest with us! Edit: we ALL EDIT OUR PHOTOS the HDR of the pixel is NOT a win when you cant soften it in post. You can absolutely sharpen the oneplus pictures to look just as bright and sharp as the pixel... but no one with any photography knowledge would do that lmao
I have the 12 on pre-order since Friday in the US. Got everything mentioned here for $700 in the 16-512 configuration. I can't wait. No longer have to sell my soul for an ultra level device to get everything i want.
I have really been thinking about these two phones and the subtle differences that make both a valid choice. I personally think no matter the choice one makes developer options makes us all even.
I could never go back to those charging speeds....no matter how good the rest of the phone is. 60+ watt charging changes the way you use your phone, and I don't ever want to have to go back to remembering to HAVE TO overnight charge my phone.
Watching from my Pixel 8 Pro. I love Everything about the phone & Pixel Camera, features.. only 1 thing i don't like - the edge detection/cutout on portrait mode.

It's not even a contest here as OnePlus is a global company and Google only sells in select countries which, surprisingly, doesn't even include all of Europe for some reason.
The seven years of updates for Pixel is simply a gimmick. No pixel can last that long. Probably the worst hardware company in the business. Love the experience, but doesn't stand the rest of time. If you want a phone to last 7 years, get an iPhone. I'd rather have the One Plus.
I upgraded to the 12 due to the battery life. I have owned several phones including the dreaded Samsung series and I have to admit I do like the 12 for all the goodies and the PRICE.
i just traded my powder blue pixel 8 pro for the silky black oneplus 12. the pixel 8 pro was freezing A LOT for some reason. i hadn't experienced that kind of performance since the early days of android. i didn't even experience that kind of performance in midrange devices of today.
Currently using the Pixel 7 pro One of the worst phones I've ever used. Anything from the mountains of bugs that I wholeheartedly did not expect from a phone by Google like my s23 ultra would have some bugs here and there but this pixel would have five times that amount to also the god awful selfie camera on the pixel 7 pro like The selfies that come out of this phone look like what iPhone users joke about Androids looking like and what's crazy is no one was talking about it except on reddit It's crazy because when I got the pixel last year it was either the pixel or the one plus 11 but I went with the pixel because I was curious about stock Android but honestly it was such a letdown because most of the things on stock Android had already been done so long ago by manufacturers like samsung but better. Even right now as I'm typing this this underpowered processor is so bad that it's overheating while I'm on RUclips. I thankfully pre-ordered the OnePlus 12. I do have a question For people who bring up the AI, do you guys actually use it on a day-to-day basis Genuine question? 🤔 Because honestly for me on my pixel 7 pro, the only feature that I actually use like once a week at most is being able to copy text from recent apps
I bought the Galaxy s24 ultra. The AI features have potential, but I'd say it will still be some time before any of them become polished enough to even be deemed a must-have. I preordered a oneplus 12. It looks promising. Battery life on the 24 ultra is noticeably worse than my iPhone 15 pro max.
Just upgraded my Pixel 7 Pro to the OnePlus 12. Arrives in a few days. Excellent review, you tipped the scales! For me, upgrading from 128 GB to 512GB is very much needed, fast charging would be welcome, and OnePlus gave me $360 trade in on the 18 month old Pixel 7 Pro, a very generous reward!
I have had the P8 pro since launch day, and it’s the best phone I have ever had. Battery is great, doesn’t get hot, handles my games without much battery drain, the camera is exceptional, the software is immaculate and the AI is excellent. I mean, every 3 months, my phone gets new features with the feature drops. The One Plus is a great value though if you’re a hardcore gamer.
Had me for the most of the video, you were really leaning towards Pixel the whole time. The last 7 minutes I just kept thinking "no way, he's not really gonna say Pixel?" Good stuff in the end
OnePlus 12 is for real a flagship killer. The only thing is if you're buying insurance through OnePlus, they only cover the 256 GB version even if you're being upgraded to the 512 GB for free.
Currently using a Pixel 7 Pro, have the OP 12 on pre-order. Biggest complaints with the Pixel are the lousy cellular modem and reception, inconsistent fingerprint reader, and inexplicable software bugs - which is shocking from the company that owns the software and hardware. I've had the OP 7 Pro (best phone I've ever had, except for the cameras) and the OP 9 Pro (better cameras, but too many other issues like poor scrolling behavior and overheating). I'll miss some of the Pixel software features, but the Pixel line is basically a great camera fronting a substandard phone.
One plus is the winner for me Google definitely has a slight edge in the camera department but one plus camera is still pretty good and I just like how the OnePlus operates the customization etc plus they killed it with the charging speeds and battery capacity just wish it came in more colors
It does UHD60 but if you want HDR capture you're limited to 30FPS! GRRRRRR! Why do they do this???! S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max can do HDR UHD60 fps! This hardware and UFS 4.0 can absolutely do HDR10 at UHD60. Beyond frustrating. It's a dealbreaker for me. But the fact it has an IR blaster is making me not sell it. My wife thinks I'm nuts for spending $800 for a remote control. hahahaha! 😀
13:20 Tells me everything I need to know about this extremely biased comparison. The fact he said "Grudgingly" tells me he's full on #HomeTeamPixel😁lol
Pixel 7 pro user and i have to say its still a great phone, the software is brilliant as is the camera. However the processor while very good isnt the best, battery average, also dont rely too much on the monthly updates as update killed the bluetooth when using in cars. several updates have anhilated the battery. Based on the camera comparison the oneplus was very good except difficult lighting shots. i prefered some of oneplus colours used in certain shots.
I have a 6 Pro. First Google phone after years of Samsung. There's no denying the camera is fantastic. I have never taken photos that look so great. However, the phone isn't even 2 years old, the battery life is short (even though the battery app says it's fine), the phone keeps disconnecting from service which I never had on any Samsung despite using both on TMo. I have to restart the phone 4 or 5 days a week to connect to cell service. Sometimes, the phone goes black after using it against my face when I touch the top of the screen. Just little problems that added up. I loved everything about the Pixel except the actual phone quality. I ordered a 12. Price wasn't really a thought. Price was what stopped me from buying the Samsung S4 Ultra. I hope I can get over the camera not being as great.
I care more about performance and power, that's why I easily go for the Oneplus 12. It also has more features that make it attractive, the unmatched fast charging, the best and powerful processor 8 gen 3 is simply unmatched, I love the design but for the performance I'm going for the Oneplus
exactly I'm paraphrasing here but he said something along the lines of the pixel gets them through the day while the OnePlus is a day and a half. a theoretical 24 hours does not equal a theoretical 36 hours.. not to mention the charging speed.. I'm looking forward to topping off in 20 minutes when I get ready for work in the morning
Interesting comparison. As an owner of the oneplus one back in the day, ive always had a softspot and glad that they seem to be 'back'. The lack of options in the uk does annoy me though. Like you, i really don't like the green 80s kitchen counter top version, but its the only one with the higher ram and capacity. Other territories get all options on all versions. Also there is a silver version that looks great that isnt even an option for us. Finally free upgrade and trade in options mean that other territories like the US can get the 12 for $700, which is an absolute bargain, but again, not in the UK.😢
My 12 and 12r give my 9+ hrs screen on time every day. The battery system in these is killer. Easily mid-day to late the next day battery life, and charges in less than 30 minutes to keep going. Stellar.
I just have to say that I returned a defective S24 Ultra and got a OnePlus 12 and I have no regrets. This device is incredible and I honestly think with a few software updates to remove some minor bugs it may end up being that I don't miss Samsung at all. This is a huge leap from the days when I had a OnePlus 9 and felt like everything was a serious compromise.
Got my OP12 for $749 (w/ Trade-in) bundled with OnePlus watch 2 for $99...all for $849 (plus tax in the US) I also have the S24 Ultra....honestly I find myself using the OP12 more. No gimmicky Ai & longer battery & charges super fast.
The camera is better in the 8 pro but still 1000 for just that is not enough, the 12 is for me, you got a lot more quality for the price, but if your thing is the camera maybe you wanna try the pixel.
OnePlus is a better buy. Better processor, better battery, faster charging and a camera that's more that good enough and plus the deals OnePlus is giving up for the 12 is crazy if you go by value for the money. The winner is the OnePlus 12
I think it's important as a reviewer to highlight both phones' shortcomings as well as their upsides to a certain degree. 1) For example, at 1:48 you state that on paper the Oneplus 12 boasts 4500 nits of peak brightness but from few resources online you'll understand that only certain parts of the phone reach this level. On top of which it's manual and auto peak brightness sit at 790/1150 which is abysmal compared to the Pixel 8 pro. Not to mention a very obvious flickering I'm noticing at 1:48. 2) 5:40, every phone manufacturer at this price range optimizes all the components you mention. What makes this so special about the Oneplus 12? I don't understand. Companies these days use a lot of marketing jargon to attract customers when customers themselves don't fully understand the concept behind these things. That's where you guys come in. This video isn't bad by any means, but I could've extrapolated your data from simply reading the spec sheet on either phone's page. The only meaningful comparison here is the camera test which shows a very clear winner in my opinion and what could possibly warrant the higher price tag of the Pixel.
I’m trying to figure something out. between the two of these phones, which one has the bigger front facing camera? The 8 Pros camera just looks huge to me.
First. I think there is an unconscious bias when it comes to Apple, Google, Samsung because of marketing etc. Second. I'm not sure if it's the feedback from the consumer why Google and Samsung went back to a flat display, but we have got to step away from Apple. The OnePlus looks so much more elegant with a curved display in my eyes.
As a former OnePlus fanboy from 2014 ro 2023, I will tell y'all the WORST part of that company is the DELAYED & ALWAYS LATE SOFTWARE & SECURITY UPDATES, and still BUGGY after months of waiting! Then the AFTER SALES SERVICE of OnePlus is not just the worst, but literally super dunb. And last but not the least, their cmaera was always UNPREDICTABLE! The only MAIN REASON buy OnePlus phones was because of CHEAP PRICE, period.
OnePlus is the clear winner. The screen is the best camera. The best charging speed. The best powerful processor. More RAM. Larger battery capacity. 50W wireless charging and 100W wireless charging. Smoother performance and a 9000mm cooling system. OnePlus is the clear winner without personal bias.
I'm an OP fanboy (still rocking my OP5T 128GB) but looking for a new phone. I was first thinking S24, but when looking at/feeling it in the store it fell short of one-hand screen gestures, which iPhone 15, P8P and OP12 have. Next thing is camera, to me P8P is simply the best in difficult light conditions and zoom. Next, I don't want a china phone and not bloatware, and I dont like curved edges.. So P8P is the easy choice for me (among above mentioned). However, some comments I saw about Pixel Pro quality is a bit concerning..
Pixel is always behind in Chipset game. They launch during October every year when already the lastest chipset refresh is already around the corner. For eg. Tensor G3 is like 8+Gen1 at best when 8Gen2 already launched. Tensor G4 will come this year and by that point 8Gen4 and A18Bionic will already be launched and its performance will be at max be close to 8Gen3 mark my words
Oneplus sharpnens the photos more than the Pixel? Is that even possible??? I owned the Pixel 8 pro, and I never had a phone which oversharpend and overprocessed pictures like the Pixel... And Oneplus trumps that? Geeez...
So many years of promised updates, but 5 months in and mi screen goes green with and horrendous white/pink line acroos the whole screen, what i found in forums? to remove my screen protector cause the phone is acumulating "static". what a shame of device.
recent study conducted by the University of Edinburgh and Trinity College Dublin found that Android phones from Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo, and Realme collect and send a lot of sensitive data without user consent
I own a OP12, in the flowy emerald color it looks BEAUTIFUL! i was hesitating about it before it arrived, but damn, it's gorgeous. The phone performance is great, qnd the battery life is great, i have to charge it every other day
i hate it when samsung or apple does not use a feature and oneplus uses it (curved display) and they label it as vintage or outdated. this is not the way reviews should be done
I owned a Pixel 8 Pro a few months and was really dissapointed by the performance of the tensor g3 chipset and overall software experience.. Just waiting to get my oneplus 12 to get delivered tomorrow even the 8 gen 3 chipset alone ist it totally worth and combined with the huge battery Im really excited.
OP12 seems like a great choice but I went with a refurbished pixel. My last oneplus 7T (4yo) had a bloated battery and I can't find anyone to repair it. (the repair request on the official website was never responded to). The Oppo "takeover" also concerned me, because among Chinese ppl they don't have a great reputation for polish or reliability. My friend had the 8 or 9 (can't remember) that's made after the takeover and was constantly complaining about glitches. I mean if spec/$ is the only thing that matters everyone would be buying Xiaomi.
Fyi, oneplus's 4500 nits are peak hdr brightness and not the default peak brightness. You might wanna correct that before comparing just specs and not deep diving into it.
If I wake up at 9:00 a.m. With my fully charge pixel 8 pro It will be dead by 7. that's simply a deal-breaker and nobody wants to burn their hands from using GPS and taking pictures for 10 minutes, 1 + 12 all the way
Aqua touch on the OnePlus is the most underrated feature ever for me. Nobody is talking about it, but I'm constantly using my phone in the rain or while doing dishes or something!

@@pocketPliers +1. Another happy OP7T user here. Have you upgraded to the Oxygen OS 12 btw?
I think it is enough already with the 7-years support fairytale. Pixel 8 is already 2 years behind in internal h/w. Just imagine for a moment how this will look in 2030. Or try to use a phone from 2016 instead and see how it feels. Besides, does anyone think that the next OS updates will keep rolling out all the next new features to P8 for the next 7 years ? All in all, you are comparing a phone that runs circles around Tensor-3 chip versus the pixel 8 that allows you to...move objects around in photos. Yeah, tough choice.
For sure, the Tensor 3 was all marketing and no real weight behind it. A 1-2 generation behind chip in a Pixel is just sad.

Reliability in operation is important, and the photos being less processed isn't inherently bad.
im a photographer, so if I get an image i really like i bring it into Lightroom and do my edits on a calibrated monitor smartphone pictures are really fantastic now, as good as the old point and shoots as long as there's enough information in the file I'd rather bring up the exposure than have blown highlights and too much sharpening
the Pixel does a fantastic job with computational photography (using software etc) on par or better than my S23+
The best camera I have used on OnePlus. Now, OnePlus offers a very big leap. A very large main sensor and a huge periscope camera. OnePlus 12 is truly a masterpiece.

I was initially thinking ‘oh here we go with another RUclipsr choosing the Pixel 8’ … so I’m honestly surprised with your preference in the end. I got the 8 pro for $400 through my carrier in the US. The camera was good, but the AI features were over rated.

One plus is one for me. Bought Pixel 6P had terrible experience.
By that logic, you shouldn’t buy the Oneplus 12 cause the OnePlus 10 was kinda bad.
I bought a OnePlus 11 , because the p7p was terrible ... And yes , it's not as good a camera as the 12 ... But otherwise it smokes everything else , crazy fast , smooth , no lag , fast af charging . Brilliant
@@1dafulit was my second google phone after LG nexus 5x. Google is just bad at hardware. I don’t know why influencers are pushing pixel phones. I have already had bad experiences with Google products I don’t want to buy new google hardware anymore.
@@1dafulThe "logic" is based on their personal experience and is perfectly sound. Who said he not only used the OnePlus 10 but had a bad experience with it? Lmao fanboys I swear
@@1dafulit wasn't ..I had that phone
Currently using the pixel 7 pro & was really hoping they would fix the absolutely WASHED out colors on the screen with the 8 but nope.. as someone predominantly using the device for taking photos and editing photos on the go, it's looking like I'm ready to try out the one plus
The price, the pre-installed screen protector and the charger are real deciding point
op and samsung look better to me than google tbh.
op 12 its is
i hate the changes to the stock android look after android 11
It's not even a contest here as OnePlus is a global company and Google only sells in select countries which, surprisingly, doesn't even include all of Europe for some reason.
Finally an honest conclusion.
The seven years of updates for Pixel is simply a gimmick. No pixel can last that long. Probably the worst hardware company in the business. Love the experience, but doesn't stand the rest of time. If you want a phone to last 7 years, get an iPhone. I'd rather have the One Plus.
I've never met anyone including my elderly grandparents who's held on to a phone for 7 years
exactly 😂@@rrod555
Idiot. Even even midrange phones can last 7 years. 12gb ram, ufs 3.1 storage, 256gb storage, almost flagship its easy. Only battery will be shit.
I upgraded to the 12 due to the battery life. I have owned several phones including the dreaded Samsung series and I have to admit I do like the 12 for all the goodies and the PRICE.
The fact that the photo quality is so close to the Pixel 8 Pro is a major win for OnePlus. 👍
One plus 12, best value phone of 2024
i just traded my powder blue pixel 8 pro for the silky black oneplus 12. the pixel 8 pro was freezing A LOT for some reason. i hadn't experienced that kind of performance since the early days of android. i didn't even experience that kind of performance in midrange devices of today.
Happy ?
You must got a special pixel
BTW OnePlus 12 Zoom specialises at 6x. The sensor doubles quality.
Why would you compare a dedicated 5x periscope, on the pixel to the 5x on the one plus when there periscope starts at 6x that’s def being bias
Great 2 quick question 4k 60fps reconding? Hdmi out or 3.2 usb ?
BT 5.4? WiFi 7?
It does UHD60 but if you want HDR capture you're limited to 30FPS! GRRRRRR!
Why do they do this???!
S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max can do HDR UHD60 fps!
This hardware and UFS 4.0 can absolutely do HDR10 at UHD60.
Beyond frustrating.
It's a dealbreaker for me. But the fact it has an IR blaster is making me not sell it.
My wife thinks I'm nuts for spending $800 for a remote control. hahahaha! 😀
Just to update, the latest update now includes support for UHD60 with HDR Dolby Vision Pro! WTG! This is big!
13:20 Tells me everything I need to know about this extremely biased comparison. The fact he said "Grudgingly" tells me he's full on #HomeTeamPixel😁lol
What about the zoom feature on 8 pro that was suppose to release in December? Allowing Al to enhance zoomed in camera shots quality?
Op have a bad selfie cam while GP have a bad battery. Choose your next phone wisely
Remember you need a battery to take selfies..
@@apeswhat2273and you can download gcam but u can't download a better battery
other reviwers did it better. And i can say the OnePlus 12 battery runtime is soooo much better than pixels.. i don'T know what he is talking about xD
exactly I'm paraphrasing here but he said something along the lines of the pixel gets them through the day while the OnePlus is a day and a half. a theoretical 24 hours does not equal a theoretical 36 hours.. not to mention the charging speed..
Thanks for the video. Is it possible to download the photos of both in full resolution?
I rather believe in Godzilla than pixel lasting 7 years with rebranded exynos processor.
Question. Why are the UK. Overcharged against the USA. Prices for phones?
Thanks Alex as ALWAYS for your fantastic comparisons. Kindest regards, Richard U.K
This guy is like... A cardboard with pixel logo is awesome than oneplus with nice long time support
Три года это не долгосрочная поддержка
As a former OnePlus fanboy from 2014 ro 2023, I will tell y'all the WORST part of that company is the DELAYED & ALWAYS LATE SOFTWARE & SECURITY UPDATES, and still BUGGY after months of waiting!
Then the AFTER SALES SERVICE of OnePlus is not just the worst, but literally super dunb.
And last but not the least, their cmaera was always UNPREDICTABLE!
The only MAIN REASON buy OnePlus phones was because of CHEAP PRICE, period.
The one plus 12 is absolutely amazing
Be careful
Geeez...
Unpopular opinion, i prefer the photo processing of the op12. Pixel tends to look way too overprocessed.
oneplus is still the overall best package
You can really tell this guy is a google fanboy. I will never buy another google product after their AI fiasco.
Boohoo, it's not like y'all have nuke launch codes in your damn phone. You're not important get over it
So does Google
I own a OP12, in the flowy emerald color it looks BEAUTIFUL! i was hesitating about it before it arrived, but damn, it's gorgeous. The phone performance is great, qnd the battery life is great, i have to charge it every other day
i hate it when samsung or apple does not use a feature and oneplus uses it (curved display) and they label it as vintage or outdated. this is not the way reviews should be done
Exactly. Biased reviewers
