me too as well, i was kind of surprised but i like the oneplus 12 way more then the 13. maybe the colors are better on the 13 but i still enjoy the colors on the 12 more. overal brightness and sharpness seems better too.
Yeah! but initially OnePlus 12 camera wasn't good enough it was stabilized after software updates. It will also happens with OnePlus 13 in future software updates. ❤
I do feel like the 13 will eventually get camera fixes like the 12 got but I do wish it would could out with these fixes already. But I still am debating if I would upgrade or not
really dissappointing video quality oneplus 13. my oneplus 8 pro gives better video quality than this. Photo quality is also very whitewashed., foggy.. find op 12 more contrasty in some photos
@@inpursuitofhappiness366 Had the 6, 7 Pro, 9 Pro and 12 and 12 is far the best. Doesnt make sense at all to say 7 Pro is even clos to it. Yeah more processed but 7 Pro was only mid even 2019.
BTW with video recording that is of course on the phone result, looking back on the pc, the oneplus video i liked better on the Oneplus 12! And I still am just mind buggled about the choice of the 50cm minimum! Also small correction look more pale on the 13 of course at 7:35 not on the 12!
There's something really wrong with video recording on OP13. It looks disastrous, way worse than OP12. Seems like a software issue. Interestingly, the same problem is on Xiaomi 15(vs 14).
Mmmm not zoom wise, but this 13 has potential, but with some od choices, like the telephoto periscope having a minimum focus distance of 50cm is too much.
Excellent content man Love your extended breakdown here! I'm hoping the 13 gets better with the global launch I've been with Oneplus every year in a row since the 9 pro and i've been blown away every year the improvements every year.
I hope so too!Thank you very much! And yeah hope to see some improvements! Doubt the 50cm minimum focus distance will be fixed, but we can hope? somehow xD because that needs a hardware change, so I doubt it!
@@ThroughJermainesLens so course man ur welcome well deserved! and right? we can hope somethings will be updated with better software processing and very true about the up close focusing it's unfornate .
Jeez I’m so excited for the 13. I stopped using the 12 because the camera in auto mode made everything that was white look yellow. It was absurdly warm out of the box and I’m not going to sit and adjust each and every shot before I take it when trying to get photos of my family running around.
The difference is tiny, but 13 will get many camera updates. It already has a bigger potential, but too many things should be fixed. I'm sure that if you are tired of Op12 because of the cameras, it's better to take any flagship Vivo, Oppo or Xiaomi.
Thankyou Jermaine ... You smashed it again . A very relevant and thorough comparison and much needed . Considering the op13 battery , fingerprint sensor upgrade , the new chipset , the flatter display , i think I'll be buying one ASAP . Thanks again 👍
@ThroughJermainesLens 😅😂😂😂 Yeah Doing great thanks man ! Hope your doing great ! Congrats on 14K Btw ! Hope Your Staying Very Hydrated With Some Nice H20 ! 😅😎🙂💯💧💦💧💧
how could someone expect better quality from a 1/2.76" vs a 1/2" ? the 1/2" (oneplus 12) is significantly bigger this "Light Gathering Ability" only matters in low light in bright light the 1/2" should have better quality the difference in aperture is also minimal f/2.0 vs f/2.2 also the shots shown here i much prefer the oneplus 12 ultrawide samples
I mena you can, but both are pretty different devices, even more so with the camera. It wouldn't be a CRAZY update because the pixel 7 isn't THAT old. But still would be a good upgrade I think, unless you really like the way they approach their photography?
I have the OP12 which I am very happy with, and watched this just out of curiosity. The thing that stuck out for me was the not so good close focusing ability of the 13. That's a deal breaker for me.
Thanks a lor for this comparison. Very interesting. Few days ago there was a patch for the OP 13 (15.0.0.209) which gives you a makro mode. Did you already use this?
Sorry for asking here on a video that doesn't belong me to ask it but I've tried a couple times asking you where it is the place that you mentioned that you can buy 13 pro for 300 euros? Where? thanks Regarding the video I don't see it worth the upgrade 12 to 13, unless coming from a low cheap phone then yeah, but prices are still high for the 11..
@@ThroughJermainesLens Google is plagued by the same stuff so is iPhone. Long live the tele macro! This video showing that is invaluable! Amazing work
80-90% of the footage looks better on the 12. Maybe i should get it , im a bit disappointed with my honor magic 6 pro which i got a few days ago because of the display, its not as vivid like my samsung. Has the Oneplus 12 a good colorfull vivid display like samsung ?
Bro no not OnePlus 12. Go with OnePlus 13 it has great display and other things will be improved via updates. OnePlus 13 has 2k boe display which is not a samsung display unlike previous models so it does not get green lines etc or you can get iqoo 13.
@nandhuvardhan3296 i can get the op12 with 16/ 512gb for 650€, the op 13 is much more expensive.. iqoo 13 is not available here like the op13. Iqoo 13 has a smaller camera sensor size
@@nandhuvardhan3296 OnePlus 12 also has a BOE display brother! But in recent times... A user got a greenline issue in his OP12 after the update! And also one more user got greenline in his OP11! From 6:00 onwards and to the rest of the forest recording, OP12 shows this quick exposure flickering on whole frame. What is the official term for this issue? I see it frequently in smartphone video recordings, when the subject is a forest with dense trees blocking a bright sky.
Thanks for this video im waiting for someone to do this, in my opinion the upgrade for cameras is not enough to change (even for my preferences i Will choose 12 most of the time, i dont like that "mist" that i see in most of Op13 pictures) i Will wait for your low light situation pictures video, good job 🫰
No problem! Of course the 13 misses some updates compared to the 12, but we cannot sadly know what it will do^^ working on a video comparing it to the 14 ultra and in the mix i will showcase some 12 shots in different situations next to it
There is probably more potential in the hardware of the 13, but the 12 definitely has more refined, matured software algorithms. I think the op13 camera software will see some iprovements.
Thank you for posting this comparison Jermaine. Just what was required, as for me there's not so much of a difference in the cameras and the 12 is now £649 in the UK which seems a total bargain in my eyes.. So just ordered 🙂
Two things : It is not fare comparison ,because 13 is not received any updated ,and it runs china color os.. for second one ,how you managed master mode to get those beautiful photos? Thanks.
I fully get what you are saying and yes it will improve in the future, but those future promises are of course never promised. We don't know what it will do, I only know what it currently does and how it processing images as of right now. And master mode I used Auto because I knew I would do comparisons, so it's just down to composition and how the phones handles the shots :)
@nekilik89 one gotta take a bet, op12 users are enjoying it's stable camera now. with a 40% processor enhancement, op13 will stay relevant for much more time, minimum 3 years
@@nekilik89 Same thing with OP 12, ppl bought it at the release and it needed updates as well. So u can wait with ur OP 12 or another phone till it happens.
I'll stay with my one plus 12 white , and that's that . To go down a censor size means trying to save money . I got the top of the range and to go to the 13 with improvements that I can't see I'll wait ...
Honestly I like more the processing on OP13, sometimes the OP12 produce too strong shadows. And I totally love that it has more natural detail. But the biggest improvement (I noticed you didn't pay too much attention to) is action mode. With OP12 is barely usable and with the OP13 it looks great. Maybe it's just oversharpening, but I like it more.
Reason I don't do this is simply because a lot of channel exsist that would just steal and use my work for a own video and get a shit ton of views because clickbait. I just don't want to get in situations like that where my work is used like that.
yeah I kinda REALLY dislike that. had a lot of those issues in my concept creator days where I spend sometimes 400 hours on my video of 1,5 minutes and then a channel just took stills from it and got millions of views. And even now I see some channels just steal my work.
@@ThroughJermainesLens I just wanna know from you personally that should I buy OnePlus 13 or OnePlus 12 in terms of camera upgrade. I have an old OnePlus 8 series. I waited for one year since OnePlus 12 launch because it's camera was poor. But I don't think it's a significant upgrade in 13. I see that OnePlus 13 videos are highly exposed and lacks colour. Also zoom of 6X is even downgrade on 13 .
Because most people that I know and do a lot of photography with it use master mode and because they are the same brand I can do that to showcase the difference between the 2 in that mode ^^ Did put in some normal of course, but far less. in my latest comparison with the xiaomi, I did use auto mode :)
@ThroughJermainesLens Ah I see, master mode is essentially Hasselblad optimised colors right with no HDR or OnePlus post processing? By the way do you test in master auto mode or pro mode? I haven't played around master mode much, I'll appreciate some recommended settings for my OnePlus 12. Also should I keep Vignette on or off for most scenarios?
for my channel size, I sadly will have to say goodbye to the Oneplus 12, but who knows when that comes in, I might be big enough to afford the 12 again :)
Yeah can't say I'm seeing it the way you are all the time. At times the Oneplus 12 shots look noticeably better to me. Other times the 13. Since this is very early software on the 13 and not the global version I'd prefer anyway, I'm sure Oneplus will improve things with updates.
yeah that's fully fair, there are moments (the train track shot (without the train) is the shot where I prefer the OP12 for instance) I call more of a general view. THAT being said, a lot comes down to preference ^^
In auto mode the op13 looks better than 12, the video however still needs a lot of work, lets hope it gets fixed by the global release. Also pitty of the macromode which isn't really useable.
The OnePlus 13 will be easily flashable to the oxygen 15 upgrade once its released globally.. so even if you do own a Chinese model you can easily flash it to the global software once it comes available
The saddest thing is that 4k on the OnePlus 9 Pro 5G is better imho, offering 120fps along with having deeper and richer colors offered for the screen. Just sold the damn thing and got the 12 and am semi regretting it.
Guys, judge me or not, but 13 oneplus is much better! Remember when the 12 oneplus came out raw, it also took pictures and filmed, like the new 13 oneplus does now, they will fix everything with updates and fix this still crude product
Hello, should I wait for the OnePlus 13 global release, or should I buy the OnePlus 12? The Samsung S24 Ultra is not good at taking photos; there is no contrast at all. I am very disappointed with Samsung. I don't know why many RUclipsrs say that it is on the same level as Xiaomi. I had a Xiaomi 13T Pro, and it took much more beautiful photos than the S24 Ultra.
wait for global release ;) And see what it brings in terms updates for it. if the 13 comes out globally it will only make the 12 cheaper so then buy the 12? xD but honestly if you zoom in a lot on you shots, I wouldn't go for the Oneplus 13 nor 12.
@ThroughJermainesLens Thank you. I don't zoom too much for myself. The 50mm that the Xiaomi 13T Pro has was great. In the Samsung S24 Ultra, I use the ×5 time lens because it is more contrasty. If I had to choose between a Xiaomi with Leica style or OnePlus with Hasselblad, which would be more contrasty?

You should do the same as I will. Wait for the global OP13 release. That will make the OP12 a bit cheaper and will bring QOL updates to OP13. After seeing both the new updates and the price drop for the last year's model, decide which is worth more. If the fixes are good enough that bring OP13 where it should be, go for it. Whereas if they don't help much, go for the discounted OP12. Note: The OP12 wasn't as good as it is now when it released. It became much better in terms of camera performance a few months after release. Make sure to take this into account when choosing your phone.

could be, but also it depends on your preference, for me I like the difference on the 13 better, I like the bit softer look you get on the 13 over the 12. just sucks that the 50cm minimum focus distance is there for the 13 with the telephoto :(
Man was hyped for this phone , I believe from what I’ve seen so far these cameras are a down grade . 12 look better imo, maybe with some software updates they can fix this. This camera really needed a new bigger main sensor, bummer
Op12 was an amazing phone with the camera being its only weakness, op decided to continue on that tradition and offer another bad camera. Oppo is doing a much better job with Hasselblade
The reality is with updates they get degrade previous models too. Its how their business work. One plus 12vis already 1 year old. With 2 years theyll go sxhit
Gcam has problems with periscope camera on OP12, there is AF issue on each gcam (SGCAM, AGC) mod beside BSG. Tele sensor has two resolutions on OP12 which is causing that AF does not work properly. Or maybe you have some config which resolve this issue?
@rafalgajcy7647 I got sometimes unfocused view after switching to periscope, but that was on 9.x versions of gcam. Now, 8.4 with custom config, works flawlessly.
The video on the OnePlus 13 looks abysmal in terms of details. Even in broad daylight there is so much visible noise. Oneplus 12 wins here easily which is sad cuz the 13 is supposed to be better
Welp it doesn't need to be better with cameras, it wins in different parts but as someone said, OP 12 wasnt great at the start as well with photos, it needed updates, so it will happen to OP 13 as well.

me too as well, i was kind of surprised but i like the oneplus 12 way more then the 13. maybe the colors are better on the 13 but i still enjoy the colors on the 12 more. overal brightness and sharpness seems better too.
I Will keep my One+12 👍🏻
do not blame you!
Oneplus 12 wins for me personally, i like the colors, the sharpness, the exposure (hdr) and contrast way better than 13
The main benefits of the 13th version is the SoC and battery. The camera difference is not much.
Yeah! but initially OnePlus 12 camera wasn't good enough it was stabilized after software updates. It will also happens with OnePlus 13 in future software updates. ❤
5:40 Oneplus13 video looks horrible compared to 12, way too bright and washed color!
I do feel like the 13 will eventually get camera fixes like the 12 got but I do wish it would could out with these fixes already. But I still am debating if I would upgrade or not
oh yeah true! the 12 has been out for a while so fixes have come in, the 13 is JUST out so who knows ^^
The OnePlus 12 is far ahead in almost every shot. I'm keeping mine 😆
It seems OnePlus 13 is much downgraded ...
really dissappointing video quality oneplus 13. my oneplus 8 pro gives better video quality than this. Photo quality is also very whitewashed., foggy.. find op 12 more contrasty in some photos
yeah video quality should improve for sure! I don't do much videography, but if you do... then this right now isn't the one should get.
Yeah I felt older OnePlus did far better
I had the OnePlus 7 Pro. It wasn't afraid of noise like the current phones
@@ThroughJermainesLens Maybe install something like Gcam to see the difference?
@@inpursuitofhappiness366 no, op7p camera is too poor to be compared with op12 or op13

Oneplus 12. Way better. Specifically at 4 k video 😮. Wow
BTW with video recording that is of course on the phone result, looking back on the pc, the oneplus video i liked better on the Oneplus 12!
And I still am just mind buggled about the choice of the 50cm minimum!
Also small correction look more pale on the 13 of course at 7:35 not on the 12!
Not surprisingly the 12 cameras looks much better after all the fine tuning and updates. OnePlus never nails the camera at launch.
The only pro I see with One Plus 13 is the image stabilization when shooting video, which was a glaring issue with the One Plus 12.
There's something really wrong with video recording on OP13. It looks disastrous, way worse than OP12. Seems like a software issue. Interestingly, the same problem is on Xiaomi 15(vs 14).
Very nice and detailed video. Would you consider the cameras on the OP13 better than those of my S22 Ultra?
Mmmm not zoom wise, but this 13 has potential, but with some od choices, like the telephoto periscope having a minimum focus distance of 50cm is too much.
One plus 13 will probably just need some updates to get optimized. I heard one plus 12 cameras got better with updates
Oh i agree with that;)
@ThroughJermainesLens thanks for the videos.
Excellent video 😊. Need more human portrait shots on your upcoming videos. Watching from OnePlus 11. Love from India.❤
Great video! My girlfriend and I like the 1+12; warmer tones are more pleasing, and main\telephoto cameras not overprocessed like 1+13.
Fair 😁 that's why i always say preference is also a bit part 😬😁
Jeez I’m so excited for the 13. I stopped using the 12 because the camera in auto mode made everything that was white look yellow. It was absurdly warm out of the box and I’m not going to sit and adjust each and every shot before I take it when trying to get photos of my family running around.
Oneplus 12 win better camera i dont see any progress on oneplus 13 camera department
The difference is tiny, but 13 will get many camera updates. It already has a bigger potential, but too many things should be fixed. I'm sure that if you are tired of Op12 because of the cameras, it's better to take any flagship Vivo, Oppo or Xiaomi.
Constant exposure shift in oneplus 13 video Rear 4k 60 fps

Considering the op13 battery , fingerprint sensor upgrade , the new chipset , the flatter display , i think I'll be buying one ASAP .
Thanks again 👍
No problem! And thank you verrryyy much!!!
The 13 improve in very little ways but it does worse than the 12 in many, still a good phone but won't be phone of the year this time.
The Global release after multiple updates might be different.

how could someone expect better quality from a 1/2.76" vs a 1/2" ?
the 1/2" (oneplus 12) is significantly bigger
this "Light Gathering Ability" only matters in low light
in bright light the 1/2" should have better quality
the difference in aperture is also minimal f/2.0 vs f/2.2
also the shots shown here i much prefer the oneplus 12 ultrawide samples
How does this compare with OP 11 ? I have an 11 and contemplating an upgrade to 13...worth it ?
Hello, greetings, is it okay to change the pixel 7 for a one plus 12? Thanks good 👍🏼 video
I mena you can, but both are pretty different devices, even more so with the camera. It wouldn't be a CRAZY update because the pixel 7 isn't THAT old. But still would be a good upgrade I think, unless you really like the way they approach their photography?
Is there chance you could post few RAW photos of same scene made with both phones? Especially Telephoto lens.
I have the OP12 which I am very happy with, and watched this just out of curiosity. The thing that stuck out for me was the not so good close focusing ability of the 13. That's a deal breaker for me.
Is the vignette in master mode on?
I think the 13 will get better after updates.
Thanks a lor for this comparison.
Very interesting. Few days ago there was a patch for the OP 13 (15.0.0.209) which gives you a makro mode. Did you already use this?

Regarding the video I don't see it worth the upgrade 12 to 13, unless coming from a low cheap phone then yeah, but prices are still high for the 11..
I responded to that ^^ Via marktplaats a dutch website were they sell it second hand ;)

Man that telephoto...I was ready to jump in with OnePlus until that minimum focus distance 😭
yeah, that minimum focus distance is a serious point that I cannot really deal with.... because I miss out on a lot of different styles of shots.

it isn't the telephoto and ultrawide are different as well as the processing.
From 6:00 onwards and to the rest of the forest recording, OP12 shows this quick exposure flickering on whole frame. What is the official term for this issue? I see it frequently in smartphone video recordings, when the subject is a forest with dense trees blocking a bright sky.
Thanks for the comparisons, waiting for a low light comparison
does the oneplus 13 support esim for the Chinese version?
Not a single Chinese smartphone is able to support esim.
The thing with One Plus phones is the phone and especially the cameras get software updates. I had the same issues on the One Plus Open.
No problem! Of course the 13 misses some updates compared to the 12, but we cannot sadly know what it will do^^ working on a video comparing it to the 14 ultra and in the mix i will showcase some 12 shots in different situations next to it
Big differences, hopefully fixed by the global OS
I think there is an issue with the colors in oneplus 13 video sample needs an OTA update
I hope op 13 will take some updates in camera. For example in 4:17 and 5:40 video in op 12 is much better.
So just ordered 🙂
no problem! :D
Two things :
It is not fare comparison ,because 13 is not received any updated ,and it runs china color os..
for second one ,how you managed master mode to get those beautiful photos?
I prefer the design of the OP 12, but only in black. Breen is not my taste

To go down a censor size means trying to save money .
I got the top of the range and to go to the 13 with improvements that I can't see I'll wait ...
How much better is the battery life on the OnePlus 13 compared to 12 in real life?
Honestly I like more the processing on OP13, sometimes the OP12 produce too strong shadows. And I totally love that it has more natural detail.
But the biggest improvement (I noticed you didn't pay too much attention to) is action mode. With OP12 is barely usable and with the OP13 it looks great. Maybe it's just oversharpening, but I like it more.
I noticed that too, but have limited samples so i felt like own conclusions there is fine^^
I believe theres a Macro mode coming in op13. Im absolutely certain it will bet much better with Oxygen os and camera updates.

Reason I don't do this is simply because a lot of channel exsist that would just steal and use my work for a own video and get a shit ton of views because clickbait. I just don't want to get in situations like that where my work is used like that.
@ThroughJermainesLens ohh... that's a good point.
yeah I kinda REALLY dislike that. had a lot of those issues in my concept creator days where I spend sometimes 400 hours on my video of 1,5 minutes and then a channel just took stills from it and got millions of views. And even now I see some channels just steal my work.

I waited for one year since OnePlus 12 launch because it's camera was poor. But I don't think it's a significant upgrade in 13. I see that OnePlus 13 videos are highly exposed and lacks colour. Why test on master mode as default?
Because most people that I know and do a lot of photography with it use master mode and because they are the same brand I can do that to showcase the difference between the 2 in that mode ^^ Did put in some normal of course, but far less. in my latest comparison with the xiaomi, I did use auto mode :)

Ah I see, master mode is essentially Hasselblad optimised colors right with no HDR or OnePlus post processing?
By the way do you test in master auto mode or pro mode?
I haven't played around master mode much, I'll appreciate some recommended settings for my OnePlus 12.
Also should I keep Vignette on or off for most scenarios?
Please add RAW samples comparison in your next video, especially for the telephoto i want to see if the hardware is better or worse

THAT being said, a lot comes down to preference ^^

p.s. Do you remember when they made a “flagship killer” that didn’t cost $550 like it does now?
Stay tuned, right now I do not have that as of yet! And yes i remember that hahaha

Welp, I will just wait for something like OP13 mini. I think it's a better move :D

You sure didn't swap the snaps ans names of the phones? Because OnePlus 12 looks amazing

And the big thing for the new 15 Pro is that it has a 6100mah battery that should really help with the pretty meh battery life on the 14 Ultra xD

You would be surprised what does gcam with periscope camera on OP12 😎
Gcam has problems with periscope camera on OP12, there is AF issue on each gcam (SGCAM, AGC) mod beside BSG. Tele sensor has two resolutions on OP12 which is causing that AF does not work properly. Or maybe you have some config which resolve this issue?
@rafalgajcy7647 I got sometimes unfocused view after switching to periscope, but that was on 9.x versions of gcam. Now, 8.4 with custom config, works flawlessly.
The 13 still needs updates, it's only just released
I know, but this is how it currently is, I cannot travel into the future sadly xD
this will probaly be fixed with os updates or when the phone releases globally beacuse right now this is a big mistunderstanding
Further proof they should ditch this Hassleblad tech. Somehow it gets worse over time and it wasn't stellar to begin with.
The video on the OnePlus 13 looks abysmal in terms of details. Even in broad daylight there is so much visible noise. Oneplus 12 wins here easily which is sad cuz the 13 is supposed to be better
