    1. OnePlus 13 ultrawide sensor analysis compared to ultrawide of OnePlus 12
    OnePlus 12 ultrawide - IMX581 (2021) 1/2" 48MP AF (3.5cm macro) with f/2.2 aperture
    OnePlus 13 ultrawide - JN5 (2024) 1/2.76" 50MP AF (3.5cm macro) with f/2.0 aperture
New ultrawide is 28% smaller, but it has a wider aperture to compensate for its smaller size. OnePlus 12 with 1/2" sensor and f/2.2 aperture has a 0.828 score of Relative Light Gathering Ability while OnePlus 13 with 1/2.76" sensor and f/2.0 aperture has a 1.894 score of Relative Light Gathering Ability.
    Calculations
    Lens 1: f/2.2 and 1/2"
    Lens 2: f/2.0 and 1/2.76"
Relative light gathering ability = Aperture area / Sensor area
    Aperture area = 1 / (f-stop)^2
Sensor area = (physical size of the sensor)^2
    Aperture area
    Lens 1: Aperture area = 1 / (2.2)^2 ≈ 0.207
    Lens 2: Aperture area = 1 / (2.0)^2 = 0.25
    Sensor area
    Lens 1: Sensor area = (1/2)^2 = 0.25
    Lens 2: Sensor area = (1/2.76)^2 ≈ 0.132
    Relative Light Gathering Ability
    Lens 1: 0.207 / 0.25 ≈ 0.828
    Lens 2: 0.25 / 0.132 ≈ 1.894
JN5 also has better autofocus (Super Quad Phase Detection), better HDR (Staggered HDR and Dual Slope Gain), better noise reduction technology (Dual Vertical Transfer Gate) and low power consumption always-on mode.
    2. JN5 complete analysis
The focus technology has been upgraded from the JN1's partial "2×1 OCL" phase focus, where the number of focus pixels accounts for 1/16 of the total number of pixels, to full-pixel "2×2 OCL" omnidirectional focus which JN5 uses. This is great for focus performance, but not conducive to telephoto shots, so this hardware difference of the JN5 telephoto is compensated by the AI algorithms as is the case with LYT600.
JN5 also integrates the Remosaic algorithm directly on the sensor, that is, the high-pixel mode algorithm of the Quad Bayer to Bayer array is integrated at the ISP of the sensor circuit layer, so that it does not need to rely on the processor. This increases the speed of high-pixel mode shooting, while also enabling real-time zooming without lag in both preview and shooting modes - directly converting to high-pixel mode and cropping on-chip. However, this hardware-level Remosaic algorithm configuration, which was already popular in 2019, was not used until 2024. This shows how long Samsung has neglected the 50-megapixel series sensors, which also shows that JN1 is really average.
Then there is the D-VTG (dual vertical transmission gate) and DSG (dual slope gain) technology, the same as Samsung's flagship sensor HP2. Of course, due to its positioning, Samsung has only done half of this - because there is still supporting hardware to be put in.
For example, in terms of D-VTG technology, Samsung did not improve the full well capacity for JN5 like HP2 did, but simply increased the charge transfer within the pixel to significantly reduce noise in low-light environments.
Finally, in terms of DSG technology, it does not have Smart-ISO Pro technology like HP2, but simply "Dual Native ISO Fusion" technology. However, since the maximum analog gain is amplified by 8 times, it has made significant progress in suppressing the back-end readout noise.
    3. OnePlus 13 3X sensor analysis compared to 3X of OnePlus 12
    OnePlus 12 3X periscope - OV64B (2021) 1/2" 64MP (20cm minimum focusing distance)
    OnePlus 13 3X periscope - LYT600 (2023) 1/1.95" 50MP (50cm minimum focusing distance)
The cost of OV64B is not low, and changing to LYT600 is also not low. The LYT600/IMX882 is slightly larger in size and, in addition to a slightly larger size, another major advantage of LYT600/IMX882 is that the underlying circuit process is more advanced, with a higher dynamic range, faster data reading speed and faster focusing speed. Although the OV64B has a slightly smaller size, it has a higher number of pixels, so OV64B is still stronger in zoom shooting and also, since LYT600/IMX882 uses a 2x2 OCL microlens design, the image loss rate is relatively high compared to OV64B which uses 2x2 ML PD (Partial 2x2 OCL). The 2x2 OCL is a technology that improves focus and low-light performance, but sacrifices detail performance, so this hardware difference of the LYT600 telephoto is compensated by the AI algorithms. Another advantage of LYT600 is the thin and light design, OnePLus 13 reduced the module size by 33% with new Multi-Prism periscope structure, but the disadvantage of light and thin design is worse minimum focusing distance (50cm) compared to OV64B (20cm), so no telephoto macro for LYT600 unless it is a specially customized module. At 3X about 10cm minimum focusing distance is needed for good quality tele macro shots.

@@arman_harutyunyan96 It's amazing that you have gathered all that information, made it possible to be read by everyone by using as readable language as possible. It would be great if you could elaborate on the main sensor as well and maybe make comparisons to other sensors from top flagships such as the iphone 16 pro max and s24 ultra again camera by camera. That would settle at least on the technical front which sensor is supposed to be better and then everything else will be down to the processing of the photos and videos from each manufacturer's device

    • @arman_harutyunyan96
      @arman_harutyunyan96 Месяц назад +1

@@lachezarlazarov3626 The main sensor (LYT808) of OnePlus 13 is not that good. LYT808 is 1/1.4" size sensor while iPhone 16 Pro Max and S24 Ultra/S25 Ultra use 1/1.3" size sensors and after that both iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max and S26 Ultra will use about 1/1.1" size sensors built on new 17nm process so OnePlus should definitely change its main cam next year otherwise the gap will be too big. I think OnePlus will use 1/1.3" size sensor next year, not bigger than this as they are prioritizing super large batteries. LYT808 mainly competes against OV50H (1/1.3") which Xiaomi 14 and 15 series use, LYT808 is 10% smaller compared to OV50H and it maybe loses also in HDR as OV50H has 13.5EV which is very good considering its size, LYT900 for comparison, has 14EV.
