Interesting to know this was based on AM2R. So many graphics have been changed, makes me wonder if this is like a graphics test preview for a future AM2R update. I mean the water and lava updates and physics as well as lightening enhancements are nice eye candy. As well as some mechanics seem to have been modified as well for Samus and some enemies. Seems like some sound improvements for those older monotone ones. I like the more instrumental music selections (as opposed to the electronic), but as a soundtrack I think that not all the tracks have a consistancy.
I actually tried to mess around with the files to see if I could get some of the higher quality AM2R sprites and sound effects in the game, but the file structure was different unfortunately
It wasn't based on AM2R, it was basically what came of the Metroid SR388 fan game, Von Richter was the original creator of all the art, how the other guy who made the engine this game was built off of got said artwork I have no idea but he somehow acquired it obviously.
I think the art and graphical atmosphere is spot on, such beautiful environments. I would wish for the Music to be more eery and poor as in Breath of the wilds poor where there aren't much going on so to create an atmosphere of a world in ruins, aike the music for the original Metroid 2.
This is fantastic and I wish there was more of it. Level design looks a little more "organic" than other fan games like AM2R. The music is great too even if it's a bit jarring with guitars in a Metroid game.
The gameplay has some cool ideas. And the new music ITSELF is cool in how complex it is and how long each track is, they’re full length songs with various sections. But man the actual audio mixing is legitimately annoying. The use of soundchip music & sounds from the old AM2R with the newer music’s attempt to be normal instruments, the random mix of prime & super metorid music, the harsh musical transitions from room to room: the fact the music doesn’t actually reset so it’ll start blasting the chorus of a song at you. Items playing prime’s fanfare over the music in a jarring way. The save loading music just harshly stopping. Lot of cool stuff, and a lot of annoying stuff sound wise

Great timing for me to learn of this game's existence so close to my birthday. Edit: Oooookay never-fucking-mind; that was fucking awful. Before the game even starts they tempt fate by having "Nintendo" in the intro like it's a licensed game. The missile firing timing is off which is _exactly_ the kind of thing you want when facing the frustrating AM2R Metroids, *ESPECIALLY* when one of the fuckers has to be fought UNDERWATER! 🙄 For a game calling itself "Origins" it adds literally fucking *NOTHING* to the story. There are only 2 Super Missile tanks in the entire goddamn game and *BOTH* might as well be invisible despite seemingly being necessary for progression. The game marks certain rooms on the map with the little red ball things from Zero Mission to indicate an item has been *COLLECTED* but when there's more to be found it's _BLUE_ when usually red is used to indicate you're *NOT* done with something. There isn't a single save point in the underwater area despite there being TWO boss metroids. The entire Speedboost area seems like an elaborate troll because not only is there an item behind a false wall you'd never know was there, the entire area gets filled up with lava so you can't come back if you miss it, and if you're a filthy casual and don't shinespark charge, jump, and air-dash up the elevator shaft the games will say "FUCK YOU!" and just MAGICALLY MAKE THE LAVA APPEAR ON *TOP* OF YOU FOR NO FUCKING REASON!!! And because the elevator moves so slow, it's very easy to straight up *DIE!* And just to put the kidney stone on the dog-shit sundae, the game will just throw up it's hands and say "Okay! Obligatory escape sequence now!" when you kill the last Metroid boss *REGARDLESS* of where you might be. Want to explore and discover like every other goddamn game in the series? Well, fuck you! Are you in an unfamiliar environment and barely know which way to go in the first place? Well, fuck you again asshole!!!
