I was there. It was like a religious experience. He had us all mesmerized. His backup singers got stuck in traffic so the guys improvised. I was 13, ran away from home with 2 friends and went to Woodstock for my birthday. It's the one memory I'll take to my grave with a smile.
Oh man what a gift you gave yourself. If I could go back in time to take in 1 entertainment event I would go to Woodstock and stay as sober as possible to remember every bit of it I could. What a time you must have had!
What an incredible memory to carry with you your whole life! Going to Woodstock at 13! Holy S! ☮️
@@Razzy316 I was sober through it all. It was the one promise we all made before leaving. Three teenage girls alone definitely staying sober was the best idea. We went for the music and ended up having the experience of a lifetime. Had to come back home barefoot because I lost my brand new Keds sneakers. LOL.
@@elaine8013iven how it ended with the Hell’s Angels, that was probably the right call. Even without that, it’s one thing to drop acid or get high at home or a friend’s place, but if everyone’s tripping, there’s no one to spot for you if something goes wrong or you get fake lsd. Good on you for being safe at one of the most legendary events in human history.
I am a brit and over here we have loads of open air concerts today but in 1970 I had come out of the army and a friend asked if I wanted to earn £200 a day in the Army we were on £8 with free lodging and food..he wouldn't tell me at first it was rhe Isle of White, it was the last performance of Jimmy Hendrix before he died... Pete Townsend from the Who were due to go on.. but Townsend kicked off.. Apparently he didn't want to go on after Jimmy, saying he'll blow use off the stage and I'llsound shit.. my friend said to Jimmy can the who go on first jim... he took a drag of the biggest spiff I have ever seen.. and looked from under his stetson. and just said.. "Whatever man:... Great memories

His regular backup singers were stuck in the huge traffic jam. He was, imo, one of the best live singers of all time. His voice was amazing. And he always gave everything he had. ❤️✌️
always wondered why back up girls weren't used - poor guys didn't have a prayer of hanging with those girls. ouch bad traffic changed history. Joni Mitchell also missed it.
He certainly didn't hold back.
Theme from the Wonder Years. A Beatles cover. RIP Soul Man.
You picked up on his soul and body movements right away!! Good for you, Sceez! A lot of people assume there's something wrong with him when they see him for the first time. Joe felt it, and he made sure we felt it too! Feelin Alright is a groovy tune I know you're gonna love! Can't wait til you get around to it. ✌🏼 Peace
I just want to tell you how much I appreciated your reaction to this Video, not the song but the video. It is the first time I have seen someone react to it without automatically having something snarky to say about his "dancing" or the band members "singing". So thank you!!
Same here 😊
Not sure who you are watching I have never seen a reactor do anything but love this performance
This song was the theme for The Wonder Years tv show. It's a Beatles song that Joe Cocker covered and kinda made it his own.
Joe didn't just sing a song, he felt EVERY note deep down in his soul... although the copious amounts of alcohol certainly played a part...I love watching him do his thang...
This song was the opening to the TV show "The Wonder Years" -- the original one, starring Fred Savage. The show opened with that unique chord and Joe Cocker's voice.
See this performance just once and you will never forget it.
It was woodstock 1969 AND it is a Beatle song!! John Lennon wrote it!!Yah It is powerful!!! Listen to the beatles version too. Thank you for your appreciation for deep heart felt music bless you!!
Ditto
I saw the wonderful Joe Cocker live in concert in Melbourne Australia many years ago, he was amazing. 💕
One of the most classic live performances of all freaking time.
Well put.!!!
Legend..He always put all of himself in his vocals. ❤️
Joe sang with his entire body. I love everything he ever did. My 2nd favorite artist of all time! 🥈🥳🤌
I have heard many times Joe Cocker referred to as the white Ray Charles because the soul in his voice and the feeling in his songs
You can definitely hear the Ray Charles influence on his voice.
Wonder Years baby boy. That’s the show. But I am older than you and I remember this as a stand alone performance during Woodstock. Sadly, I’m too young for Woodstock but I’m here loving this performance just like you are. Joe Cocker was incredible.
This performance was at Woodstock 500,000 people (no exact amount because they stop counting). What a great time except for all the rain and the mud. He said about his arm movements, I guess that came with my frustration at never having played piano or guitar. The traffic jams were so bad they had to helicopter in the artists
We❤u sceez. The only channel I actually check updates for.
FEELIN ALRIGHT!!! 🎶 is a great one!!!! Very unique!!
This is what it looks like when the music possesses you. My favorite of Joe Cocker's (and I recommend you always, ALWAYS, do him live) is "You Are So Beautiful."
The 60's the 70's the 80's produced such great music. The video history is such a precious thing to have to honor these memories. These were real singers - not 'pretty' singers! When music is an experience.
The happiness on your face was everything!🙂❤️
Joe Cocker was one of a kind❤❤
This was his iconic performance at the historic Woodstock concert.
Takin us to another level. Raw as He'll! 🔥 🔥 🔥 🎶 🎵...vibe is off the CHARTS bro!!!!》》》》》》》🙌
Thank you for appreciating this, one of my favorites!
Best reaction to this song!
I was a teenager when this came out..we loved Joe Cocker !!!
The Beatles wrote this song and made it famous but Joe Cocker made this song an anthem.
That's according to Paul McCartney.
By the way, Joe Cocker is the music and the music is Joe Cocker.
Woodstock. Half a million people, there for the music.
I think he opened the Festival.
Summer of love.
Have you heard
The last goodbye,Jeff Buckley?or James Taylors, fire and rain?
And I've only just discovered Gladys Knight's, midnight train to Georgia, holy cow, Aretha Franklin's,do right man?the ladies voices give you goosebumps.
From Australia 🇦🇺✌️
Song was used as intro to TV show The Wonder Years.
Oh, you young man! Google Woodstock.
This was live on a donated farm field with dozens of performers and hundreds of thousands of hippies covering the fields around the stages and living outside for several days.
❤Joe. RIP🌹
Brother you gotta dig deep into Joe!! 🐶😎🇺🇸 Nicely played 👍👍 Try "When the night comes"... It's Joe with some age on him 😉
This performance was recorded at "Woodstock" in 1969. It was use in the TV comedy "The Wonder Years" which first aired in 1988.
He is awesome in concert. Saw him back in the day when youring with Tina Turner. 🤟🤟🤟❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
My favorites by Joe are 'Shelter Me', and 'Unchain My Heart.' He put so much passion into everything he did, but those just seem to stand out to me.
This is a cover of a Beatles song. Joe Cocker did a great job. I think someone said that it was the theme song of Wonder Years.
He does your " big burtha".
Classic!!!
A Beatles song that became Joe's as soon as he sung it. Not many people remember or care it was a Beatles song first and quite rightly. Joe took everything to his soul and took everyone to CHURCH when he sang.. T
The Wonder Years.
This performance of "The Beatles" song was at WOODSTOCK in August 1969.
Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video by Joe and what a voice 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RUclips. 😀
We have all over the years (with complaints from the neighbours) tried singing it in the shower
This was the theme song to the TV show The Wonder Years
Joe Cocker is in rare company. Only a few great artists have done serious Beatles covers without embarrassing themselves.
It was all about love!
Wonders Years theme song and yes it plays when the show is coming on
The tv show you’re taking about is the Wonder years. It was on pbs every night. This was the theme song. Not exactly this version but you get it.
This is why you’ve probably heard it.
Great reaction again..
It's a BEATLES song..
But,after this ... Paul + John gave this song to him !!! Lololol
Woodstock was famous for the amount of drugs they took there, but the performances still are 100% fire even so many years after!
It was amazing how his illness ( not sure of the name btw) but it controlled his body and movement. But it was amazing that he rose above it and it pain and sang and danced through it all. He was one of the greatest singers of any generation known. And his stage presences was one of the best in the world especially considering his illness.
He didn’t have any disease.
You have to react to joe cocker singing you are so beautiful!
Great reactions you do!
I haven’t watched the video yet but I know you are going to love it 😊
The Wonder Years!
You should check out Hendrix at Woodstock. Same concert.
Jimi Hendrix started out with a broom…..look it up, his father finally bought him a guitar.
Check out the Woodstock performance of Sly and the Family Stone too.
Joe turned a Beatles song into Gospel.
Those boys from Liverpool sure could write a song couldn’t they
It was the opening for The Wonder Years
He had a different type of energy up on stage 🔥
Woodstock festival 1969. One million people showed up and there was no violence. Three births.
You LIT Boy!!! LIT
Take us to church brother Joe !
Nobody does it like the Brits.
he's like the hippie version of a composer
☮️💙💙💙🔥🔥🔥
P.s. I got the album, too..
You may hear others sing "... with a little help from my friends" , but you will NEVER hear it sung like Joe.
I think he first sang that at Woodstock in 1969.
The theme the song from the Wonder Years
TV Show -The Wonder Years
I hoped/commented for a Joe Cocker as part of my Passion Trio of Janis, SRV and Joe - and I said any song but this Woodstock one....because although he kills it as usual, but his back up singers were caught in the traffic jam and used the band to make you cringe instead. Wonder Years used this song. JC and Elton John are the only two covers of the Beatles that exceeded the original IMO. So - plenty more Joe Cocker to react too - The Letter / You are so beautiful / Feelin alright and so many more
I haven't looked into it myself but I've seen more than once in the comments of various reactors...people say the backup singers were stuck in traffic bc the police closed the NYS Thruway due to the extreme traffic. I can believe it. I live in this area and that's the only main road that runs between Albany and NYC - and it's only 2 lanes in each direction most of the way! If a trooper is giving someone a ticket on the side of the road, traffic backs up for miles just bc of the rubbernecking. It's unbelievable.
Woodstock 1969!
You have to react to his rendition of the tune “You Can Leave Your Hat On” Official video!!!!!! It will curl your toes and put a smile on your face i promise!!!!! The greatest strip tease song ever made bar none!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳😎🍸
This was woodstock. He was messed up! But he was still brialliant!
Yo..you gotta watch the movie WOODSTOCK...
The Wonder Years❤❤❤❤
I’m so glad you watched this and enjoyed it!!
Woodstock
When a cover is better than it's original....
WOOSTOCK 1969!!!!
I want to say it was on the wonder years but I could be wrong
You might want to listen to the Beatles original? Best Beatles cover though.
Also, everyone was out of it on acid, how anyone stayed upright I will never know.
