This is my favorite LIVE version of this song.🎵 A masterpiece cover of the Beatles song. All the female backup singers...PLUS that's the legendary LEON RUSSELL on Guitar behind him....in the stove top hat🔥🔥🔥 Can you imagine what live Rock concerts were like, back in the day? .....Magic.
Joe Cocker is a treasure, one of the greatest vocalists ever, incredibly soulful. His catalog is excellent. You picked the best version of this song from the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour. The live album of this tour is fabulous cover to cover.
People used to think that something was wrong with Joe...but he said since he didnt play an instrument, his body was his instrument and he just let the music move through him. He said the music just took over his body and he had no control over it🎶💙🎵
Biz Great Reaction. This is originally a Beatles song. In most cases I don’t like covers of Beatle’s songs. Although in this case I think it’s better than the original, just my personal opinion. Thank you loved it.😀👍❤️✌️🌼
Beautiful reaction to a beautiful and powerful song and performance. I'm actually glad you had to do this one!! Joe Cocker is amazingly gifted and it is a privilege in my book to not only be able to hear him sing but witness him perform.... it's pure magic!! I prefer Live performances for that reason... it's magic!! To me music is a gift and heals and unites like nothing else!!🤗 Thanks for revisiting it!! GREAT reaction. See ya on the next one!! NEXT for Joe Cocker: "UP WHERE WE BELONG" ft Jennifer Warnes. It's from the soundtrack to the 1982 movie "An Officer And A Gentleman".... the song also won a Grammy in '82!!
Oh yes- Mad Dogs and Englishmen Tour 1970. Claudia Lennear and Rita Coolidge co- vocalists. Chris Stainton on keys. Joe Cocker- a great blues, soul and Blues Rock singer. With Robert Plant and Janis Joplin, my three fave singers ever. With the versatile Leon Russell playing and directing- R.i.P. the both of them. Peace from Canada, Biz- good to see you enjoy.
Yep. Leon was the man. Biz, this was a great reaction. You need to check out some Leon Russell, he wrote "Superstar" for Delaney & Bonnie, which was eventually covered by The Carpenters, whose version you gave a great reaction to. He was a "musician's musician", not only becoming very much in demand during the 1960's as a session musician (as a member of the famed "Wrecking Crew", a group of first-call studio aces that played on some of the most significant rock and pop singles of that era), but also as a writer, producer, arranger, and starting in 1970, a solo artist. Check out Leon's "A Song for You", "Roll Away The Stone", "Stranger In A Strange Land", "Hummingbird", and "Manhattan Island Serenade"
@@garagepunkfanAmen brother!!!!! The man was a genius!!!!! I saw him live many times in the 70’s on 6th street in Austin!!!!! The good old days hombre!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!!!😎🍸
I was in my teens then and he was one of my favorites, and although I knew those were magical times, I didn’t realize how important they were. Some of the musicians well never see their like again. Anything Joe Cocker sang was soulful and intense. There was only one Joe Cocker. But those years had others who can never be replaced as well. Like Janis Joplin. How did all of us hippie kids in the 60s get so lucky, to have such fabulous music?!?
Had the pleasure of seeing him live in the early 70’ Shady Grove music fair in Gaithersburg Md. Leon Russell played as well. Biz you would have been right at home, with my generation all about peace and love
🎸💯 ❤ Joe Cocker was an amazing performer‼His version of this Beatle's tune at Woodstock made it HIS OWN‼The man was FULL OF SOUL‼Great choice for your "reactionary talents" BizMatik‼🤯🔥
Aloha BizMatik 🤙Been a minute brah. Well, Brother Joe just took us to church! I saw you get that chicken skin, lol.You chose the right vid too! He had hits in the 60's,70's, 80's, and 90's. Check out Delta Lady, and You Can Keep Your Hat On. Good to see ya again BizMatik
I think from watching you that you have your answer. Is Joe Cocker worth diving into? Hell yes! Man was an amazing talent. He did a lot of covers but always put his own spin on it. Pick any song from Mad Dogs and Englishmen. You won’t regret it.
Great song the only person to take a Beatles song and make it better. And I love the arrae of colours on the faces of the singers. What a great time to be alive
Watch the Woodstock video of this. I was there( I'm that old), and it was a magical moment. Half a million people mesmerized, eyes closed, taking in the vibes. No special effects, just pure talent. And yes, it's a spiritual moment.
I really enjoy you and your reactions and insight but was surprised that I was not a subscriber yet (I thought I was). So now I made sure I subscribed. Thanks for this reaction-- Love Joe Cocker! Joe loved and was heavily influenced by Ray Charles and was so flatter later in life that Ray Charles said in an interview that Joe Cocker was one of his three favorite blues/soul singers. I always loved Joe Cocker's song "You Can Leave Your Hat On".
Hola BizMan!!!!!! Glad to see you are back have hombre!!!!! 😍 Yeah going down the Joe Cocker rabbit hole is definitely worth it!!!!! He is definitely one of a kind!!!!! Try his tune “You Can Leave Your Hat On” and listen to the lyrics/penmanship closely!!!!! Very spicy!!!!! Was in the movies The Full Monty and 9 1/2 weeks!!!!! Just saying. So says Austin Tx!!!!!! 😎🍸
"Up Where We Belong - Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes" this was in the movie "An Officer and A Gentleman" Joe was a complete package, he was at one with his music and to watch him and hear his music was spiritual... glad your back, Bizmatic 💪♥️
Regal beauty and true songbird Rita Coolidge seen here. Beautiful Delta Lady, inside and out, sweet of voice and also managed to survive being Kris Kristofferson's wife ...
the album from this tour is outta this world, soooooooo much talent on that stage directed by the late great Leon Russell, worth a dive if your inclined... now that's a vibe brother.
Other songs of his to check out: The Letter (another cover song that he makes his own,) You Are So Beautiful (studio version,) Unchain My Heart (another cover song,) You Can Keep Your Hat On (NOT the video. The video is stupid, but the song is great,) Feelin' Alright?, and When The Night Comes.
Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video by Joe and so much passion and Love 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RUclips. 😀
Joe was a song stylist he mostly covered other artists songs and put his original stank on it. Like this song is a Beatles song that sounds NOTHING like Joe's soulful version you should check out the Beatles version.
Joe Cocker had a nasty habit; he'd take hits by other artists and absolutely make them his own. So many of his songs when you think about them you think of them as Joe Cocker songs, not the Beatles, Ray Charles, Randy Newman, Louis Armstrong, the Boxtops, Billy Preston, Traffic, etc.
This is my favorite LIVE version of this song.🎵 A masterpiece cover of the Beatles song.

Best version, period (and I don't use the latter word lightly).
That's the great Leon Russell in the blue top hat. He's another amazing talent.
Joe Cocker is a treasure, one of the greatest vocalists ever, incredibly soulful. His catalog is excellent. You picked the best version of this song from the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour. The live album of this tour is fabulous cover to cover.
This version is a little more refined than the Woodstock version. Both stella performances by Joe
I saw Joe Cocker in concert in 1969. I didn’t know who he was at the time but when he came out and started singing, he blew my mind.
People used to think that something was wrong with Joe...but he said since he didnt play an instrument, his body was his instrument and he just let the music move through him. He said the music just took over his body and he had no control over it🎶💙🎵
"Delta Lady" is another amazing Joe Cocker banger...
You're right, Biz, this was definitely a spiritual performance....
Biz Great Reaction. This is originally a Beatles song. In most cases I don’t like covers of Beatle’s songs. Although in this case I think it’s better than the original, just my personal opinion. Thank you loved it.😀👍❤️✌️🌼
Same here. I completely agree. There are very few covers that an artist truly makes their own. He did! ❤✌
The Beatles liked this cover better too!
Definitely BETTER than the original & the Beatles even acknowledged that. What an OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE 🎵🎵🎵🔥🔥🔥
leon russell in the top hat

When Joe sings it’s from the toes up.
The music is inside Cocker....and Joe Cocker is inside that music. His entire body reacts. Real true physical rhythmic reactions. He's worth it.
Yes
Oh shit that’s Leon Russell on the guitar 🎸 in the top hat!!!!!! Amazballs!!!!!! You don’t get much better than that!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍🎸🎸🎸🎸🤩🤩🤩🤩

I'm not super eloquent, but he was so good. I grew up listening to him with my Hippie Aunt and Uncle. I miss them all. ❤✌
Btw, wow!! Great reaction.
That is capturing and throwing out the energy of those days - and it was love !
Hey Biz, just some cool info about this tune. On Joes album, the studio version of this song, Jimmy page from Led Zeppelin is the lead guitarist.
Love Joe Cocker!

It seemed as if everyone was in a trance together. The musicians and the crowd were like one. Amazing. Thanks. I've never seen this performance.
The Beatles Album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, 1967... But this version, wonderful...
Jhoe Cocker... inimitable...
