Hi Nick, Thank you for your review of the 2011 BMW 1M. We all love introductory reviews which help us initially, but the reviews that really matter are the ones made years after owning a car. I also find you sharing your own experience with driving BMW cars and comparing/contrasting those experiences to this car, extremely helpful. Also, this car looks small and to see your muscular build inside and driving the 1M, helps us determine its size. One of the best reviews on YT! Wade
Thank you so much for the feedback. I really appreciate you watching! I agree 100% that to live with a car longterm gives you a much more true vantage point of the car. I hope to do a 6 and 7 year review down the road ;)
G W Grote also to address your question on navigation. Yes it was an option. Mine has it. It’s a decent idrive interface but when shopping for 1Ms I don’t think Nav is needed. Your phone has a better interface for that. Just make sure it’s a true 1M. You can tell by the alcantara interior, wider fenders, and different drivers dash. Remember to look up the VIN to determine if it’s a clean title and accident car. It will also confirm that’s it’s a true 1M
@@PointShiftDrive Thanks for clarifying that. I did figure it out finally and that a sunroof, too, was an option initially. It makes me wonder how we ever were able to buy a car in the olden days without the Internet and VIN?
I gave up on all new cars and got 1m like yours but barebones - no nav, manual seats... Plan to hold on to it forever since nothing else under 100k comes close and they are not building desirable cars anymore.
i feel as if this doesn’t need any explanation lol. this is a car where it’s like if you know, you know. if you’re a real driver and a real enthusiast, you know. this is just one of those cars that is so beautiful in its simplicity. and there’s simply no replacement for 3 pedals.
Truth is, most people dont care about having a manual because they never learned to drive one. Also, I think its probably a bit intimidating to learn. But the 1M is more than just a manual. That car has a soul.
I don't have a 1M, but i have a 135i N54 Manual transmission with M-Package, Eibach Performance suspension and some BMW performance parts which includes BMW performance brakes, Carbon spoiler , performance exhaust ect. I would never sell my 135i. The 1 series N54 are the best and last real BMW's since the E30. They're not so popular right now (more like an insider tip for car enthusiasts) but the 1M will gain a lot of value in the future so does the 135i N54. And the 1 series E82 N54 is one of the BMW's series with the least production numbers from 2007-2010
I had a 135i and agreed with you I would never sell it... except for a 1M which finally happened. The only thing better than a thoughtfully modified 135i is a 1M and the only thing better than a 1M is a thoughtfully modified 1M
I totally agree it will be worth more completely stock. However anything and everything I have done to my ride is completely reversible and non evasive. But I didnt buy this car to make money off it. I bought it drive and enjoy it. part of that for me is personalizing it to my taste. Besides, why save it for the next guy?
Thanks for the review. I had a chance to drive one a few weeks ago. This is one of those cars you have to drive to understand. (Same goes for my Integra Type R) 1M has a great direct shifter feel and excellent low and mid range torque. I like the steering feel as well so it makes for a really fun car on the street. I drove an 08 M3 6spd for a while and I did not like the shifter feel or larger size. 1M just feels right.
Thanks Ian for the comment. I 100% agree with you on all fronts. I have driven and owned both a 08 M3 manual as well as driven the type R. I actually think 90s hondas shifters were some of the best around. even by todays standards. The 1M is a modern take on that old recipe. Hard car to pass up!
@@PointShiftDriveNo problem. I have owned my Type R for over 3 years and it will be really hard to let it go. Shifter feel is excellent and it is also a lot of fun to drive. Unfortunately it can't keep up to modern cars so I am ready to try something faster. A friend has an alpine white 1M and I am hoping to buy it if he upgrades to a Porsche GT car in the near future.
