You've heard of being offlined by a cosmically powered Star Scream but how about *being onlined by Vector Sigma?*
*Cosmically powered Vector Sigma*
@@gigatronusprime That's technically it's default state, isn't it?
I want to like, but it's 69 so I'll just tell ya I like this comment.
@@elpizo1789 well yeah but like what if it got more cosmic power
*What about the droid attack on the Wookies?*
So Vector Sigma is like Primus's brain whereas the All Spark is his spark. I like the Cyberverse interpretation where both are needed to forge new Cybertronian life.
Absolutely. And I like the idea of the Omega Lock being Primus’ T-Cog, tying together the transformer three-part biology as being based on Primus himself.
But what would the matrix be? And shouldn’t the core of cybertron be his spark?
@@basedpota Maybe the Matrix is a physical embodiment of Primus's will.
That idea makes the most amount of sense for both robo trinkets.
@@basedpota of leadership? It's just a thing unconnected to primus -unless it's not-

Or cyberforms the organics
...You know, it didn't occur to me until now that Alpha Trion's post-2010 role as a historian first and foremost could be derived from his connection to Vector Sigma.
It's the sort of gradual, slow outgrowth where I don't think anyone "decided" on it, so to speak, but it just sort of slowly took form over time. Like Dreamwave randomly deciding Vector Sigma was a database of history probably because they needed a framing device for their profile book, then everyone just sort of... taking that as read and making it's major feature in the 2010s, likely unaware that there was ever a time it WASN'T a thing.
@@ChrisMcFeely Much like scientist Shockwave?
@@JoleneBlake That one was probably a BIT more deliberate, if only because before it crossed over from Dreamwave to anything else, it was early Furman-era IDW that re-used it first, and Furman definitely knew that wasn't Shockwave's classic deal, so he definitely kept it in by choice.
@@ChrisMcFeely I have a feeling Furman just really liked writing evil mad scientists. Like, Thunderwing, Jhiaxus, Scorponok... if you were a former Decepticon leader in early IDW, chances were you'd be turned into a mad scientist.

I like to view Vector Sigma as Primus' brain module and the Oracle as his spark.
Me too, though I always believed the Allspark would be his... spark.
Maybe it's a bit too obvious.
@@alexanderstavroulakis335 Perhaps the Allspark and the Matrix can be viewed as extensions of Primus soul. Still key parts of his life but far beyond understanding.

I like the version where both the All Spark and Vector Sigma are needed to create life. It doesn't completely remove Vector Sigma from what it originally did
I Always have been curious about how Alpha Trions grew his beard!
VS: "Hello, Alpha Trion. You are. Quite good. At. Turning. Me on."
AT: "Um, you probably should ignore that."
Can you imagine waking up a machine with the power of a god only to walk away with a clinically depressed man, a paranoid fellow, a psycopath, a winning-obsessed jerk, and an abusive boss? Megatron REALLY didn't win that one.
I think I'd like to see a basics on reformatting. How some Autobots and Decepticons have been given new bodies. New personalities. A tool used to make new toys off the back of a pre existing characters to not bother with a backstory.
"The Key to Vector Sigma" were some of my favorite episodes in the TG1 days & brings up a sense of nostalgia.
"Before the AllSpark was, I was."
Would that make Vector Sigma the Allspark?
@@natek4488 Yeah, since Vector Sigma gave life to Cybertron's populace in the G1 cartoon until 2007. Vector Sigma was eventually reworked into different concepts, like being the database of the planet's populace (or Primes in the Aligned continuity) or giving life alongside the AllSpark (Vector Sigma is the brain, the AllSpark is the soul).
"That's the key to vector sigma". I loved ratchets VA in TF Prime.
Jeffery Combs is godlike
He was so good I hear him in all the comics I read.
Truly the best depiction of Ratchet.
Before Cybertron was, I was.
Loved that line and delivery in the G1 series.
This is gonna be a good ep. 😁
Surprised the allspark-vs-vector sigma talk didn't include a bit about Animated splitting the difference and having its allspark be shaped *like* vector sigma inside its container. Good episode!
Well, it's just round! More likely that was a reference to the spherical crystal core of the Matrix rather than VS!

If I understand correctly, Alpha Trion had the key from Vector Sigma that to was able to create new transformers. And he didn't use it for creation new autobots to helps them in war. What a sense?
Seeing the clip from Beast Wars Neo I would be very cool if a company like Shout! Factory could get the rights. Then give us in the US a release of both Beast Wars Second and Beast Wars Neo like they did with the Japanese G1 continuation.
Very informative! My favorite one's of these are the ones that cover Transformer culture & history. Like this one & the Energon one. Transformers is such a complex and rich line. I LOVE IT!
I only just started getting into Transformers and only knew that Vector Sigma was a source of life. I was not expecting it to talk.
Vector Sigma just has a cool name. Just sums up how powerful it is and important.
I really wish Vector Sigma was used in more Transformer creation stories. The Stuntacons and Aerialbots story is the best iteration I've seen
Beast machines is the best iteration
i enjoy how in the cyberverse series there just like "begone"
I'm surprised nobody has figured out Vector Sigma's greatest source of knowledge, "IMMORTALITY." How else could the super computer have survived to the present day?
I recalled watching the 'Key to Vector Sigma' on a disc collection from 'Search for Alpha Trion' till 'B.O.T' along with the TF Headmasters Omni Dubs when I was 10 years old. This felt like the best episodes collection that TF has to offer and it was no slouch since the only other TF I know at the time were TF Armada,TF Classics movie and Beast Wars.
Vector Sigma may be a giant gold disco ball but man,it feels like something not to be trifled with since it knew what it was doing.
Strike me down and I'll become stronger than you'll ever imagine.
My Headcanon is that Vector Sigma is Primus's Brian, the core of Cybertron is his Fuel Pump (heart), and the Allspark/Well of All Sparks is his Spark.
I thought heart and spark were the same things for transformers?
@@shanoo2746 the Spark is more like the Soul of the Transformer while the Fuel Pump is a more literal Heart that pumps fuel throughout their body.
Isn't the Well of Sparks supposed to be what Solus Prime became, after she was accidentally killed by her lover Megatronus?
That's how I've always interpreted them.
So in IDW comics, it is shown that despite the fact that the transformers have a spark, they still require brain units...
In my own fanfic, I've written in that Vector Sigma is the brain unit of Primus
It would make sense, if you want to include both in a story, that Vector Sigma would be Primus' mind.
@@foldabotZ Exactly
10:07 for some reason that line sound so cool
"Before Cybertron was Vector Sigma was and whatever form the Transformers Universe takes next Vector Sigma will be there shaping its Future"
Very interesting. Back when Beast Machines was new, my friends and I figured that Vector Sigma was like a holding tank, that the Key to Vector Sigma had been used to drain all of the organic life energy of the planet and store it in the super computer. We also thought that Vector Sigma had been created by the Quintessons to run their robotic factory (Cybertron), but that Primus had used it as a conduit in order to give the Cybertronians true sentience.
They probably used the key to cyberform the planet in the first place
You think Vector Sigma planned for Kiss Players?
“Do not question Vector Sigma’s motives!”
Vector sigma was just feeling frisky then.....
What even a sentient computer can have perverted thoughts occasionally!
"Kiss Players? In My Vector Sigma?"
"It's more likely than you think."

I love your channel! I love the way you format your videos and im super excited when you post!
A simple explanation could be that Vector Sigma contains the Allspark, kind of as a shield
I always thought of the Allspark as providing the soul, whereas Vector Sigma provides the mind.
Could you do a Basics for the following: (don’t worry, I learned my lesson, I won’t post this on every video)
Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime- The Prime who succeeded Optimus
Action Masters- Transformers without the transformation
Space Bridges- Travel between galaxies in instants
Maccadam- The oil house and its owner who spans continuities
The War- What sparked this galactic civil war.
Maccadam's Old Oil House(I'll *_NEVER_* call it "Maccadam's"!)?! OH YEAH! GET ON IT CHRIS!
I AM VECTOR SIGMA BEFORE CYBERTRON WAS I WAS
8:15 If anyone's interested, the key also came with both versions of the Art Asylum Matrix of Leadership prop.
One thing that always sat in the back of my mind was, if Vector Sigma was required to give the Stunticons and Aerialbots life, how did Megaton give the Constructions life in the original storyline...
I tend to think that might be why they introduced the retcon that the Constructicons had existed on Cybertron, but then, that might also be giving the cartoon more credit than is due...
Another great video!! Can't wait to see the next one!! Bravo!!
Love your stuff dude! You definitely put time and effort into these to give a good backstory, and if it's ok could you do the basics on Triplechangers?
Another incredible video. Just finished all 97 THE BASICS videos and was not dissapointed.
BTW, what's your opinion about Sari Sumdac's key in Transformers Animated? IT surely looks like vector sigma's one. Too bad we didn't get a season 4 to clarify.
Vector sigma is a part of the transformers universe I like your videos please keep making them
I feel like Vector Sigma is like the computer that enters the programs that give the Allspark the programs that allows it to create new life forms.
You forgot to do the basics on THE MOST important character of the whole franchise:
Optimus prime
So what im getting is that vector sigma has 3 different purposes
1. Record the ENTIRE history of the Cybertronians, past present and future, as it is often tend to by alpha trion
2. Keep cyberton running while primus remains domant
3. Program the allspark to give transformers their personalities durring their creation
Vector sigma 100% the brain of primus
I've learned so much from all your videos I appreciate your videos and the information plus effort you put in them
Just joined the patreon... Love your videos dude

Another excellent video Chris
Sure Vector Sigma is all knowing, but can he see why kids love the great taste of cinnamon toast crunch?
Great vid Chris. I need to watch that cyberverse ep.
I love the G1 and BM versions of vector sigma.
Love your video, you always cheer my saturday night
Awesome video Chris thanks, alot of information on Victor sigma
Not sure if this has already been discussed, but in the Headmaster's 10th episode, "Cybertron is in Grave Danger, pt. 2", Cybertron is destroyed when the Decepticon Headmasters put bombs in the Vector Sigma chamber; so how does the mythos explain Vector Sigma's survival to eventually become the Oracle?
The 2016 "Unite Warriors" manga took care of this, showing a team of Autobots excavating the wreckage of Cybertron, and finding the damaged but still functional Vector Sigma.
Anybody else think of The Rude Awakening Of Optimus Prime when they hear/see Vector Sigma? haha
Give me back that fucking matrix immediately

Toy wise, Beast Wars 10th anniversary deluxe class Optimus Primal features the Key To Vector Sigma engraved into part of his internal components, and is visible when transforming him
I always wondered why the Stuntacons needed Vector Sigma but the Dinobots didn't.
Even the super computer has so much lore behind it, that's nuts
I was first introduced to vector sigma with beast machines. It was very strange to see when I was younger.
In the BotCon Timelines continuity, Beta Maxx (the Minicon that comes with Alpha Trion) can be used as a key to Vector Sigma. Vector Prime could use Safeguard in the same way I think.
Wow, I didn't realize Vector Sigma was so complex. I remember the G1 episodes, but that was all I really knew about it. Great episode! Very informative!
More complex than I had bargained for - I can't say I thought the episode would turn out this long when I sat down to write it!
Bro i love you’re videos Chris mcfeely
Vector Sigma is just another form of Primus, it´s the phisical fom of Primus and the emisary of wisdom and justice
I love it. Vector Sigma's story was always a great episode in G1. Thank you very much.
Love all your vids!
What's the difference between Vector Sigma, the Allspark, and Primus? And how do those multi-faced squid bots tie into the creation of the Transformers since all four claim to be the ones who made them?
Great work aa usual.
We need the basics on Ratchet, Arcee, and Bulkhead. Great video!! Keep it up!! 😁👍
And kup
I was just watching your videos awesome timing
I really think the integration of Vector Sigma and Primus went backwards. Vector Sigma, even in G1 but especially in Beast Machines, was more powerful, transcendent, and "important" than the original Marvel version of Primus. So rather than "Vector Sigma is a conduit of Primus", it should have been "Primus is the creator of Vector Sigma"
Primus is the soul while Vector Sigma is the physical representation, one is just another face of the other, and it would be nice to see it´s full glory in the cartoons once again as the main plot of the series and not a little item
I always thought to myself that if someone would seek to incorporate the life giving aspect of Vector Sigma into modern media I came to the conclusion that the Allspark instead of being a distinct entity would instead become an title for Vector Sigma referencing it's role as the source of all Cybertronian life. But I never would have imagined that Vector Sigma would become the god of Cybertron in the future or the/a Alt-mode for Primus in Kiss-Players or even the beating heart of Cybertron itself thanks for this enlightening basics on that which was before Cybertron was Chris.
Yesssssss new upload! Vector Sigma on the roll 😎😎😎

Yay i love vids like this
Now I see how tfp was based on g1, not in designs, characters. In a storytelling. Vector sigma key is very similar to omega keys from tfp. In g1 megatron can cyberform earth with this key. In tfp he use 4 omega keys to cyberforming earth (he build darkmount)
I love it good job
Vectorsigma grindset
Vector Sigma probably makes the most sense as a databank that primus can tap into when it comes to deciding what new life to create.
This is pretty confusing since the role of creating transformer life has shifted around between the Creation Matrix, Primus, the All spark, vector sigma etc.
It’s like the Aequitas, it’s a super computer and has its own suicide lock too. Though Vector Sigma is still more powerful.
2:36 I never understand how BEasts Wars could be the sequel of The Rebirth instead of TF Victory, I mean, in the Rebirth the Autobots had restored Cybertron as a golden paradise, full of energy and without Decepticons, so why the Transformers would have to miniaturized to preserved their energy resources?
The naming scheme of Vector Sigma, and the purpose of it in the G1 continuity always made me wonder if there were multiple of it.
A Vector Alpha, or Vector Beta, for instance, on other planets, creating hundreds and hundreds of machines for the Quintessons.
"Vector" could be seen as a codename, referencing its location or coordinates in space, and the greek letter could be like a model number, or designation. "Before Cybertron was, *I* was." So Vector Sigma could be the original codename for the coordinates or vector where Cybertron was meant to be. A supercomputer was built at some exact coordinates, switched on, and told to build machines, as well as given some resources to begin harvesting more. So it built itself the perfect facility for it. An entire planet.
Then obviously you know the rest. Cybertron is a thing, Transformers rebel against Quintessons, Cybertronian Civil War, etc.
Just a theory.
I really loved the way Cyberverse used Vector Sigma, it would probably be the depiction I would take for my continuity
