    The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2 | Transformers: Generation 1 | Season 2 | E40 | Hasbro Pulse
    With the Stunticons operational and the Key in hand, the situation is definitely in the Decepticons' favor. Most severe of all, the Key will allow Megatron to eliminate all organic life on Earth replacing it with technology. The Autobots need new allies the Aerialbots (Silverbolt, Air Raid, Fireflight, Skydive, and Slingshot) and quickly. Being unable to use Vector Sigma, though, complicates that idea. It will take sacrificing one life to give the Aerialbots theirs. This episode reveals the Aerialbots and Stunticons combined modes: Superion and Menasor. On top of that, despite his status, Silverbolt has acrophobia.

    "Vector Sigma, give these machines personalities worthy of him who created me. Let them think for themselves, to grow in knowledge and wisdom, and let them always value freedom and life, wherever they find it." Along with the combiners, guardians, and attitude, this is why this episode is the best in the whole series. It lays out the Autobots' philosophy after Megatron tells Vector Sigma to fill the Stunticons 'with hatred for the Autobots, and all that they stand for." Good guys vs. bad guys, but rarely is it defined like this.

    • @bob1986
      @bob1986 2 года назад +65

      It really shows in how they develop. The Stunticon's are a bunch of goons who while initially dangerous when the Autobots didn't quite know what to make of them quickly fall into the standard incompetent villain mold of most Decepticons because all Megatron programmed them for was "To beat up Autobots for me." The Aerialbots meanwhile initially had some personality problems but they eventually came through and grew as Optimus said and quickly became some of the most valuable Autobot's on the team well into Season 3 20 years later in show.

      @@bob1986 I agree. The Aerialbots grew as time went by. They do have some personality issues at the beginning. Silverbot and Skydive were the most disciplined once they came into the picture. Airraid was playful and Fireflight a daydreamer at the beginning but and they eventually matured. As for Slingshot, he was the most arrogant of the lot and he offended his fellow Autobots at the beginning and nearly came to blows with Ironhide on a few occasions and ended up learning things the hard way. He eventually matured and learnt to humble himself and came to appreciate the humans, befriended a prince.

      Grimlock is the best. "Dinobots! Do tail stuff, Do acid stuff, do flying stuff" He keeps the instructions simple so the dinobot know what to do. That takes a lot more effort to lead because they are slow and dumb. And if Grimlock ever shows a sign of weakness guess what happens? They will lose respect for him and stop taking orders. He has to be tougher than optimus prime to keep them in line. That is why he has to remind people he is King. It's not a democracy or republic but a monarchy where he has final say and nobody can disagree unless they succesfully assassinate him to take the crown. Since Grimlock is merely friends with Optimus and has sovereign authority over his men, he can choose to leave at any time and go his own way. (lot more freedom than all the other autobots) He just sticks around because it mutually benefits them to be allies. Most of the time the Dinobots are helping the autobots and not the autobots coming to rescue Dinobots. This indicates independence. In the marvel comics he is a bit nutty and starts to execute people for treason but I don't accept that as canon. His true personality is the cartoon from the early episodes. (the 1986 movie softened him up too much and made him too much lik a "pet" like Dino from The Flintstones imo lol) Over time they made him more kid-friendly and less like the frankenstein 'monster' of early episodes where he is actually scary like the Hulk.

      @paulallen8109 Год назад

      @@UToobUsername01 "That takes a lot more effort to lead because they are slow and dumb." Not at all. It's really simple. They'll never question anything and don't need much guidance. Akin to a factory boss just telling his workers to "work hard and it'll benefit us all". If they're stupid they'll happily eat up that and do as they're told. If they're smarter they'll ask for more information and what's all going on in the company. The dumber and ignorant some people are the easier they are to control, to deceive and to lead.
      "It's not a democracy or republic" Those are totally interchangeable in the modern era. Democracy just means that common people vote for decisions and everybody's vote counts equally. A republic meanwhile is a *constitutional form* and a *system of government* . For some strange reason (lack of education and the ignorance of the public) some seem to think that these are two fundamentally different things. What these ignoramuses (and probably you too) think is a "democracy" is *direct democracy* i.e. what the Ancient Greeks had. Things were voted on in public (but that was only possible for free males) and decided locally in towns. No need for a central government or any kind of representation in said government.
      But we haven't had any direct democracy anywhere in the world for several centuries. Our modern world requires a centralized government of some form, be it democratic or absolute(despotic/tyrannical).
      "but a monarchy where he has final say" Well, unfortunately that kind of absolute monarchy only exists in Saudi Arabia today. Their king really has the final say in everything. They have no free democratic elections, no government and no politicians.
      Virtually all other *present day* monarchies are *constitutional monarchies* , meaning that they have *everything* a republic has with free elections, elected political representatives, parliament and government. The only difference is that the rather than the president (in a republic) being in charge in a constitutional monarchy it's the *prime minister* . The king? He is just a figurehead with ceremonial powers and is often just granted emergency powers and the ability to discharge or disqualify a prime minister. He however absolutely cannot do that at will and has to do it "to serve/save the people". This is sort of an emergency override should a tyrant or an occupying force put a local collaborator or quisling type in power (the Norwegian king did exactly that during WWII).
      Your *medieval king monarchy* is nowhere to be seen these days. Well, Saudi Arabia is the exception and it's an *absolute monarchy* .
      Grimlock's closest historical equivalent is probably King Zog of Albania. Zog saw himself as a great king but had no noble heritage and actually started life as a son of local landowner. In Albania that meant owning a lot of sheep. Basically he made himself prime minister first, then he decided that wasn't good enough and proclaimed himself a president. But that wasn't good enough either and he proclaimed himself a king. While officially a king he was the butt of jokes all over Europe. Apparently he smoked heavily, swore in public, burped at dinner tables and reportedly ate like a pig. He also always carried a gun with him all the time. A lot of people wanted to assassinate him. Once he actually sat in an open car when an assassin fired on him. He actually fired back. Now obviously King Zog was a brute with no manners and no class. Some may find his ways "admirable" because he made himself king and he didn't seem to care what others thought of him (or was too dumb to realize this). He had a few minions who were loyal to him and who worshiped him like a king.
      The bottom line is that he was a brute who somehow became a king. He was a king by title and is recorded as such in history. But he was also seen as a dinosaur with a crown and as such had no idea that all his brutish antics only worked against him.
      King Zog. Look him up. A brute's ideal version of what a king is like.
      "Most of the time the Dinobots are helping the autobots and not the autobots coming to rescue Dinobots. This indicates independence. " No, this indicates *rogue behavior* . Independence without responsibilities, obligations and limits is rogue at best and downright sociopathic at worst.
      Grimlock is a vassal. A vassal is in charge of his reign. During the Medieval era, the kings needed loyal vassals to control their parts of the kingdom. But vassal themselves could never control a kingdom because there were many other vassals willing to do the same.
      Sorry, but whatever assessment you have of Grimlock is certainly not backed up by something valid or factual.
      Footnote: You struck me as somebody rather unhinged, lost and fanatical so I took the liberty to verify my assessment of you by checking out your profile. Lo and behold I was right. Actually you are more fanatical and unhinged (a dangerous combination both for you and the poor souls around you) than I would have assumed.
      Long story short: You're not fit to assess anything.

    The 2nd half to Key to Vector Sigma is arguably the best Transfomers content (movie, TV or anything else) ever done. Megatron's slow approach to Seattle gives a sense of high stakes. The plot armored Stunticons make the Autobots seem like they are back on their heels the whole time with some great moments for both Autobots and the newly minted Decepticon team. It's only the intervention of the Arialbots ... driven by an actual crisis of morality ... that turns the tide. But then the tide turns again with Menasor ... but then turns AGAIN with Superion. A Kaiju style battle begins and they duke it out in a tense confrontation and the tide turns again ... only to have Omega Supreme jump in at the last second. But Megatron still has the key and the only way to stop him is for Silverbolt to confront his own weakness.
    When you stop to think it all through this last 5 to7 minutes is pretty much better than most of the crap that passes as "entertainment" nowadays. Well done.

    The shooting scripts for both installments of this two-parter contain several "deleted scenes" which expand greatly upon some of the more significant events in the story. In this episode:
    1. Omega Supreme repairs himself after his battle with Shockwave (deleted from Part 1, although this episode contains a vestigial reference to it, when Ironhide says: "Now all we've gotta do is hope that Shockwave didn't get the better of Omega Supreme!"), but is only able to do a rudimentary job, noting that his personal survival is "highly improbable." It is this which causes Omega to explode upon his return to Earth-he willingly puts himself in danger to bring the Autobots back so they can stop the Stunticons.
    2. Later in the episode, when the Aerialbots watch as Sparkplug works to repair Omega, Sparkplug turns on the young punks, explaining what caused Omega to explode, making them realize what he did for them, and what they owe the Autobots. This is very much in contrast to the complete non sequitur of the finished episode, in which the fact that Sparkplug can continue working when Ratchet can't, and then Silverbolt makes the Aerialbots somehow realize that they owe the Autobots their lives

He's simply trying to protect his own pride, and I'm sure he goes too far sometimes. On the upside, if you do anything to impress him, you're going to hear him mention it. He won't keep it a secret. As much as he annoys me, this is something I have to give him credit for.

He foresee his mentor/creator will run into some sort of trouble so Ratchet and Hoist and Wheeljack is needed. Blaster is needed for tracking abilities and Ironhide for some extra muscle coz u wouldn’t expect Prime to do all the fighting alone. Maybe Prime should also have brought Brawn along to give more fighting power.
