Almost everything in these videos is stuff I've researched on TFwiki, but your personal charisma and concise story-telling still make these a joy to watch. Not to mention that now I have something to point my friends to instead of just rambling about what I've learned over the years.
Thank you! That's the aim! :) As Transformers has grown and gotten more complicated, even resources like TFWiki can struggle to keep up, especially when they've got to split everything up by continuity and write in-universe. Not that I think that's the wrong way to do it, or anything, but simply and linearly explaining everything has its place too, especially for new fans, and the desire to do that was what inspired me to start this series!
I couldn't have said it better myself!

Thank you for this Channel
My preferred origin story is Primus created the Quintessons first, who then harnessed a piece of his power to make the Transformers, then the revolution happened and Primus was okay with the Quintessons being banished because they had abused their power.
timemadscientist Greatscot! You mean his power?
LJK401 I suppose male.
It is nowadays almost universally accepted that neither Primacron or Quintessons didn't created Cybertonians. In both cases they find halves of Unicron drifting in the space and attempts to repair. Quintessons who I remind are alien cyborgs turn Primus into factory, using hacking device Vector Sigma to harvest Sparks and embodied them into mass produced vehicons. Who then start gradually gaining consciousness, subconsciously reorganizing they bodies. Quintessons believed that it is a programing bug and attempt to destroy faulty units, but failed to make connection with the subtle influence of the Spark, considered by them as only power generator. In the end during Alpha Trion Rebellion, they were kicked out from the planet and they destroy most outside nods of the Vector Sigma. Not having known of most of they past new Cybertronian government start making same mistakes, until true hair of the Primus take the role of Prime.
Sounds about right.
I prefer that too.
I know this is total fanwank, but I always thought it would be fun if Primus had indeed created the Quintessons in an attempt at creating purely "logical" life that went horribly wrong. While the Quintessons *clearly* display a lot of emotions, all seem to be the "negative" emotions that are, frankly, based on logical desires.
...
I *said* it was just me being a fanboy. Don't worry; Hasbro ain't having me write anything anytime soon. XD
He didn't. They are organic alien invaders. Also Computron isn't the bad guy.
I actually prefer the primus and unicron creation story, it shows that the likes of metal and electricity can have a complex and human-like evolution only more complicated.
Adding in with the all spark and individuality with many transformers, it gives a sense that even machines have a soul and give a very interesting narrative for their origin.
The quintasons, I actually like the idea of them being unicron's creations, bastardized versions of his brother's creations that torture and mess with cybertroinans.
Harem Fanatic101 Actually the Quintessons and the transformers are distant cousins. Look up Quintus Prime

Thank Primus
@@elijahwatson3474 if that's the case then it makes sense that quintessons are unicron's creations and transformers/cybertronians are primus' creations, since primus and unicorn are supposed to be brothers
I freaking love Transformers lore
"The earliest origin for the Cybertronian race was provided on the very first page of the very first issue of the Marvel comic back in 1984"
Is it the evolving from gears and pulleys one? *watches* ...yeah, it's the gears and pulleys one...
If the Knights of Cybertron call Quintessa "The Great Deciever," maybe she could be Liege Maximo? Just a thought.
This actually could make a lot of sense due to Lieges history of deception. I still today wonder why he even has such a name. All his other brothers and sister have prime or something that sounds like prime in their name. But, him he's the complete random one.
@@Burning-Twilight Since Prima is the Warrior Of Light I like to think that Liege Maximo is the Warrior Of Darkness and Prima's opposite
Edit: And depending on the Universe Autonomous Maximus AKA The Last Autobot(I prefer to call him The Last Cybertronian) also doenst have Prime on his Name
You mean the transformers version of Loki?
This is the quality content I need.
I had a theory on how the Chaos-Bringer Unicron could be connected to the Primacron-created Unicron. Basically, before the Shrouding event in the TF Collectors Club, Unicron could go from universe to universe. In my theory, however, for whatever reason, he couldn't project his corporeal form into the G1 Cartoon universe, only incorporeally observe and influence. Then, he found the alien scientist Primacron and planted the idea for creating the Big U's body in Primacron's head. After that, when the project was completed, Unicron took possession of the manufactured body and went on his usual rampage. How's that?
That's always been MY theory!
Guess minds do think alike, eh?
Interesting idea
Thanks.
Actually, the nature of multiversal singularities like unicron and the primes, prior to singularities being de-cenonised, was that each origin story was simply a byproduct of entities within the multiverse manifesting within a particular universe.
Basically, the singularities were an external force to each universe, and as they enter each universe, the universe in question engineers a series of events to explain them. It's a little hard to visualize, but picture if you will that the presence of a singularity is a hand entering a puddle, whose water is time. As more of the singularity enters, a chronology of how it got there develops, but the specific chronology is different from puddle to puddle, depending on the puddle, the universe's, contents. That's basically the bullshit excuse that was used to explain why writers didn't have to research eachother's stories when they wrote about primes and gods, before all the singularities were rendered no longer singular.
What if... Mata Nui is related to Primus or Quintessons?
Just because the Great Spirit is a giant robot doesn't necessarily mean he's related to other giant robots.
considering Mata Nui is bigger than Jupiter you might be on to something.
i see youre a man of high cultures
@@jaysilverhood1264 not even close to the size of Jupiter, Great Spirit is actually 12,000km high :/

All hail darkseid
So, basically the unicron and primus characters in terms of appearance are like DCs New Gods. Characters that exist outside of time and space but yet always have a physical representation or avatar of them in most universes

"...Unicron continued his ORGY of destruction!"
That I gotta see for myself.
I really enjoy your videos. In Isolation, my G1 cartoon theory is that the Quintessons gave Cybertronians intelligence but Vector Sigma (who I think of as a reclusive Primus) gave the Cybertronians emotions, which allowed the Cybertronians the ability to banish the Quintessons.
In season 3, the Quintessons aided the Decepticons by assisting them with Trypticon and Predacons (however the used animal DNA to give those transformers personalties). I would be interested in feedback on this theory.
Interesting idea
Works for me, that's actually fairly solid. The problem with G1 back then, is that was never really fleshed out(at least in animation).
It took later versions of the franchise to really delve deep into the lore.
@@propheci well the problem is that many concepts introduced in the cartoon just like the Quintesson being the original creators were just left to rot with time.
I unfortunately had seen "The Last Knight" before this
I like both the Quintesson Origin and the Primus origin of the Transformers
Personally, I prefer the Primus origin, with the Quintessons (as creations/heralds of Unicron) being the ones who kick-started the mass production of the Cybertronians. I just like the idea of Cybertron having its own form of theism or religion. Kinda like how Krypton has Rao and its pantheon.
One of the comic panels you showed in this video talked about Unicron’s “orgy of destruction”
The internet has ruined me
I like the Season 3 Quentesons version best, because it lended itself to so many interesting stories.
As always Chris, wonderful work. Good little drop of info in regards to some of the mythos in Transformers.
One irelavant question in this topic, but dose anybody else love that in live action incarnation that Quintessa might be Optimus Primes biological mother ( meaning that she is his creator as well as being one of memmber of Creator species),i generally like Optimus having for the first time a mother.
Hmm. You know I never thought about it that way but it does have some narrative potential to it. Does Optimus really want to kill the only family member he has left or would he want to learn something from her?
@@MtCatcher All good just another day of fighting for the FO, the Resistance thinks we have lost but the war goes on 🫡.
@@MtCatcher What may that be?
as Supreme Commander and first democratically elected leader of Cybertron, I, Starscream, am retroactively the creator of Cybertron, Cybertronians, and Primus, throughout all universes, in perpetuity.
Megatron: "You are either lying, or you're stupid!"
Using the info in this video I’ve cobbled together my own origin story
. Quintessa and Primacron are both quintessons (maybe solve that inconsistency but making them look like a weird ass hybrid of humanoid squid and humanoid dog)
. The creators created Primus and Unicron then they felt lazy and decided to create various devices to streamline the process then they got even lazier and decided to upgrade their machines with the ability to create more machines through processes like budding, sexual reproduction, cloning, construction,
. They created some robots and together said robots overthrew the creators, however most died and the 5 new robots that remained were called the guiding hand
. Unicron went bad which led Primus and his guiding hand to create the 13 original primes
. They sealed unicron away using the matrix of leadership and Primus is nicknamed “the one” for obvious reasons
. Generations go by and the quintesson race overtakes cybertron which leads to another rebellion
. Then we get the various wars between autobot and decepticon
excellent video thank you! I'd love a video going in depth discussing the Guardian Knights/Knights if iacon introduced in TF5. I really loved the Knights but have so many questions of them, Quintessa created 12 Knights, so prior to their meetings, how was Prime a Knight? if all 12 Knights were on the ship found on Earth, what did Lockdown mean in AOE when he said he captured all the Knight's? TF5 directly contradicts that. be great to learn about the Knights of other TF lore also
Almost like it don't make no sense at all, ain't it? :\ Joking aside, I presume the Knights from TF5 are like Quintessa's "personal guard" or somesuch, and that other knights - of which Optimus and the Dinobots were part - also exist.
Chris McFeely quite possibly but in AOE the Dino boys were never explicitly stated as being Knights, they were only referenced as Legendary Warriors and many assumed these "captured knights" were the Dinobots, seeing as they did all have a knightly motif but nonetheless there isn't any concrete evidence I've seen to suggest they are knights. The movie universe is quite interesting indeed.
Well, there's a sliver of wiggle-room if they want to go back and reconcile it, but Lockdown taking Optimus to a room full of prisoners who have knight motifs in their design and telling him about how he's captured all the knights, thinking that the prisoners are the knights is just 2+2=4, y'know?
Nice video.
I've always preferred my transformers with a Quintesson origin.
the whole Primus vs Unicron thing is messy and really just a trope not needed.
But, whatever floats people's boats.
How can Unicron be planet Earth? he's supposed to be 5 or 6 times the size of Jupiter and eats other planets.
MICOLE WHYTE#Oneplus6T, A20, LG G6 Earth is just the torso.
I've always thought of Cybertron, and therefore Unicron, as being significantly smaller than Earth, which would explain how transformers don't collapse under their own weight. Got any references for establishing the size of either? I'm genuinely curious. OH GOD HE SAID SCALE
These videos keep getting better and better I like both orgin stories myself lol
These are great, Chris. If I ever need to explain stuff to friends, I'll probably link them here.
I actually like the quintession origin story better then Primus. It's pretty cool that they choose as a race to defy their creators and claim agency that they were never meant to have.
there was a lot of things that I already new, my BIGGEST PROBLEM with the Aligned continuity is that wr have never seen the physical form of primus
The original primus and unicron origin was the story I read when I was young as well so it was the origin I believed
Great video Chris I look forward to the next one
Another awesome discussion here.
Ngl I felt shocked that in Prime/Aligntment continuity Unicron became earth itself. I thought it was Bay who made up this, and tbh I was surprised since its a brilliant idea.
It seems Bay doesnt get one right lmao
wow - i am thinking about creationism, evolution, philosophy
episodes 5 & 6 could be surrounding the 13 transformers and artifacts. episode 7 could be on their culture, continuing this theme...
Thank the Matrix there's no sequel. I mean, knowing Bay, Unicron would've been a silver-pink coloured rapper who dies 5 minutes after being introduced :v
So many great videos! I can't wait to see more!
fantastic show Chris keep up the great work
That must have taken a ton of your time. Thanks for making this.
You should do basics on the Quintessons, try and untangle that ball of confusion
"Where do i start reading IDW's TF comics?"
Simple, the start of it which i believe was Infiltration.
I like Furman's 'Primus tricking Unicron into the asteroids' story best. It's goofy but very original and just seems to fit. :/ These videos are fucking great, btw.
I feel like that goofiness is the sort of thing you'd see in a greek legend. So I like it too. :3
It's sort of like how Gaia tricked Kronos into eating a stone instead of zeus, or how Zeus later fed Kronos something nasty with mustard in it (I think) to make Kronos throw up. This origin was written very well as something you'd hear as a fairy tale or an actual creation myth. 😊
@@ChangedMyNameFinally69 Yeah, thank you. I forgot about my greek mythology and tat's a perfect analogy. XD
An idea I've had for Transformers origins is that after Primus gave The Thirteen the means to create more Transformers, they made the Quintessons to aid them, but eventually, they streamlined the process and the five-faced squids weren't needed anymore, which made them bitter and wanting revenge.
Very informative and awesome video.
In my Google + fanfic , I went ahead and wrote a new creation myth where the Quintessons created Unicron and Quintessa tainted Unicron , turning him into a dark god and Primacron , the Quint responsible for Unicron created Primus to end Unicron's rampage , creating the 13 to help him banish Unicron into another dimension
Now that, is perfect
If only the movieverse story was at an end.. We might get a rebooted live action adaptation that respects this material instead of shitting all over it.
There have been rumors that the movieverse is done and will be getting a reboot after bumblebee
Troika S looks like we are getting a new stealth reboot with the bumblebee movie.
Bumblebee IS that reboot.
Would be great if they didn't feel the need to be stealthy with rebooting the franchise. They really need to just draw a line under the bayformers so we can forget it ever existed and move onto a better tf live action film continuity
Well, though many hate to admit it, it's important to note that the Movies *did* kinda bring the franchise back to the map *and* brought a new generation of fans to the table! So though, even as someone who grew up with them can admit, they had _plenty_ of problems, it's hard to dismiss the role they had played in the series' history! Although, that's just me.
What if unicron was trapped in earth but didn't went in slumber , would he create a creation of his own just like primus did ???
Rahim EL-MullA All living life on earth are his creations.

I don't think so , because in comic unicron considers humanity As Sort of "cosmic bugs" and not his offspring !
Pluss that takes in account Humanity free will and strive for goodness and justice , putting uncron in opposite polar !
No Apple fall far from it's parent tree , a unicron crration should be Identitical to him in his Greed and Evill , and Earth Native life Are not !

I have actually heard that Quintessa is known as “The wife of Quintess Prime.”
My God! Like the various of creation stories from religions of the world, there’s various of stories in Transformers! Good Lord! And I love reading those creation stories! I was so unaware of the various of stories within the franchise. I stopped watching TF after G1 as a kid. Didn’t watch Beast Wars and Beast Machines until a few months ago. Well, actually after the Rise of the Beast that I watched came out, so you do the timeline for me. 😂 I watched the first live action TF with Bay when it came out. Wasn’t happy with the results. I didn’t get involved in the comics. Looks like I’m going full force currently. Soaking it all in.
Ok. So, I’m going to dig into this more. A simple solution just popped into my head in all of this. Thanks for your summary!
“The Movieverse’s Origin Story Is Far From Fully Told.”
This Hurts In Retrospect
We still don't know, what will be the plot of "Rise of the Beasts" about. Perhaps they would continue to tell the story of their origin, or perhaps telling us a new one. But it's still too soon to judge, when the movie isn't out yet.
@@Croftice1 or it’s set in the bumblebee universe.
I think Quintessa had designs for Cybertron and The Cube. Unlike in the G1 cartoon the cube was their factory which from the tie-in comic uses the power of a sun to power it.
Love this!
I mean if the Primus origin is the same in every universe it is possible seeing how in quantum mechanics from what I've heard any out come is possible in every universe no matter how small of change
This was so much...🤯
Man, I really dislike the attempts to overwrite the Quints with Primus. Isn't "they turned on their masters" enough without making them super-divine servants that were created to save the universe?
Also, I find it funny how Animated's creators went on to say that "yeah, nah, fuck multiversal singularities, Primus ain't a thing here."
One thing I've noticed is that in Beast Machines, Optimus Primal says to Nightscream "...the Matrix, the spark that shares its light with us all." Of course it would've been better if he said 'Allspark' instead of 'Spark', but hey it still works, the Matrix does share its light as the 'Allspark'. This happened at the end of Transformers Prime when Optimus Prime merged the Allspark with the Matrix. Does anyone else think that this links the Beast Wars into the Aligned continuity since in the Beast Era the Spark (or Allspark) and the Matrix are the same thing?
and then there is Animated which said ''f it, we make no origin for these bots, they are just alien''
@5:43 You just HAD to remind us that KISSformers was a thing huh? LOL Does that mean that you are going to somehow explain about why Legion isn't Megatron with a hentacle coming out of his mouth?
My theory is that in the Film verse the Transformer or Prime origin is akin to Gobots. Gobots went from a organic race to a cybernetic one. The hand of the Creators is an organic version of the Ancient Transformers and Seven Primes. Quintessa calls herself a creator, a goddess and a Prime. Sentinel Prime told Optimus they were gods. Why? Because their direct ancestors facilitated the creation of Cybertronians. What about the Unicron connection? Optimus said they do not know where the Allspark came from. We know the Allspark sought the Matrix as a new vessel. As if they were once part of the same whole. The Allspark, the Matrix and the Staff of Life may be the TF film verse version of the Infinity Stones as they ancient powerful relics that ends up on the same planet as if attracted to each other.
Quintessons! (I prefer that one.)
Can you go into Micronauts and Micronus Prime?
Thank the Matrix, we will never worry about the “Bay” film continuity going forward
Ashmay Comics For now.
I like the origin story of the Quintessons being the creators of the Transformers but I think I prefer the Primus vs Unicron origin story better!
I like the idea that they evolved on their own. Andcnot built by quintessons
My theory for the movie verse is that the all spark created the creators and quintessa is like the leader. Then she created the seed to get metals then created cybertron and the transformers with the help of the allspark.
I don't really like how their sparks are immortal. There is a lot of history forgotten for a race who cannot die. It would be nice if they incorporated that sparks do age, though it takes a very long time.
I am kinda late but in idw more than meets the eye series there's character tailgate who was pretty old, basically speaking there was a point where Ratchet "Dude,i am sorry to say that but you may die from old age" and he nearly died but then he got revived.
I like to think of Quintessa as like a Vegeta situation
The ruler is so much of a narcissist that the planet is basically named after them
Ha
Never has it been made more clear that the transformers have a religion than in this recounting of multiple different versions of creation.
I was hyped after age of extinction then when the last knight came out I was dissapointed coz I thought we would fully see the creators
what if:
-Primus and Unicron, the last two warriors of two factions, jump universes after destroying their own
-Primus is defeated and becomes Cybertron, then creates the Thirteen Primes
-Thirteen Primes defeat Unicron, who becomes Earth
-Megatronus becomes the Fallen and kills every other Prime except Optimus Prime before succumbing to his wounds
-Optimus Prime becomes Orion Pax and is reborn on Cybertron with many other new Transformers
-After a couple of big wars, Orion Pax’s memories are restored and he becomes Optimus Prime again
-Optimus brings the Transformers to Earth
-Humans and Transformers coexist, begin to augment each other
-Cybertron-augmented humans start another war which engulfs the entire universe
-Only two warriors, named Primus and Unicron remain, who travel to a different universe
That is an amazing cyclical multiversal cycle. AMAZING CONCEPT!
2:07 Rodimus looks frightened of something
fantastic!
So...
NEO IS UNICRON AND PRIMUS?!
woah
Neo isn't "The One"
Transformers origin story is interesting
yes it is
The quintesson origin story is the best one
This was good ☺️
I prefer the Primus origin in Transformers.
I really hate the whole multiversal singularity thing, all it does is restrict writers freedom
That's why hasbro changed it. They erased that idea from canon
Here is my origin story. A being from another dimension called the Maker created a transforming giant robot called Primacron to mold the young universe however he saw fit but Primacron's opposing powers of Creation and Destruction resulted in him splitting into the Creator, Primus and the Destroyer, Unicron. Primus created the 13 Primes who were able to trap Unicron in Stasis Lock. Primus then entered stasis himself becoming the planet Cybertron after gifting the Primes the Matrix, the AllSpark, and Vector Sigma. The Primes then journeyed the universe sustaining themselves using Energon Harvesters until the Fallen tried to destroy Earth. Meanwhile Cybertron was inhabited by animal like transformers called Maximals and Predacons until it was invaded by the Quintessons, squid-like aliens who had been gifted technology by Quintess Prime. Led by Alpha Q the Quintessons wiped out the majority of the Maximals and Predacons and began mass producing Cybertronians as servants until the Primes returned and fended them off, Which started the Golden Age. Eventually however the Primes fell out with one another and the Fallen's experiments with Dark Energon resulted in the death of Solus Prime and the reactivation of Unicron. Numerous new Primes tried to succeed the originals including the Tyrannical Nova Prime and the imperialistic Sentinel Prime. Eventually one of Sentinel's potential successors, Megatron rose up with the Decepticons to try and conquer Cybertron for himself, Sentinel passed the Matrix onto his other protoge Orion Pax rebirthing him as Optimus Prime and the rest is history
personally i like the primus origin and that the quintessons were just interlopers. i do however with that hasbro would do a better job the aligned continuity was anything but, it had more plot holes and issue than i want to think about mainly because they tried to tie all these things together that didn't fit or the screwed up later, take the transformers cybertron games, none of that makes sense and the characters look nothing like they do in primes and the same for rid some do look correct in flash backs and such but others there are clear errors everywhere, the novels don't fit in anywhere all you can say is their loosely based on the previous entry nothing more. Id like it if they planned these things out more and had a unified plan, and its the same for many media, come up with the beginning and the origin, plan some of the big plot twits and events and have an end game set for the very end some were down the road, you can add stuff in between these things but you have a map and out line of what you can do for example if events you plan out say these characters must absolutely be there then you CAN'0T KILL THEM. stuff like that and you tell your writers this.
The problem is that frequently they just add what they think will work next instead of planning something out for long term. Personally i kinda want to see what we will get with cyberverse season 2, i wasn't totally onboard with the first season but it had good parts and i will give it a chance. But the toy line just not good enough for me i prefer more complex transformers, unless is an older one that part of a set im already working id more likely give it a miss.
at 10:12...is it e, or does that look like "Gobotron?"
I honestly prefer the Quintessons to Primus
I came from the future to say that Michael Bay's movies went nowhere and Gaia Unicron from the movie verse ended up joining the long lines of cliffhangers that served no purpose in Hollywood....
I mean.... We had Rise of The beasts.... But until then it was nothing special and a good waste of designs and time.
Is there any explanation on why does the cube only makes Decepticons?
It was touched on in Ancillary media to the movies; but it was a dumb explanation- it more or less stated that every piece of technology from about the 1920's/1930's onwards had been reverse-engineered from Megatron's body by Sector 7, so it was pre-programmed to be a 'con.
Yes, even technologies that had been created in other countries were somehow created from Megatron, it claimed
I kinda provided my own origin on the transformers and it’s perfect😄😄😄😄😎😎😎😎😊👍🏻!!!
My origin is that the quintessons cyber formed a lifeless barren planet which then became what we all know as cybertron but the planet gains emotions and
Becomes self aware and then became who we all know as primus and drives of his creators and then after that he created the transformers species that we all know and love😄😄😄😄😎😎😎😎😊👍🏻!!!
Then adding to this, you could say the Quintessons then created Unicron to destroy the uncontrollable Primus but Unicron went rogue and leading to the Transformers legends that Primus created the 13 Primes and defeated Unicron.
@@hellstrom4209 oh that's good

"Far from fully told" nah bayformers bombed
So what happened to Primus and Unicron's actual bodies?
It's never really addressed, but in the original tellings, their material presences were described as "energy forms" rather than actual physical bodies, so presumably without their lifeforces within them, they ceased to exist.
Why did none of you tell.me transformers were so awesome????z
The UK comics got it right - Primus & Unicron.
