Your first cut with the saw should be made with a fine tooth saw bro. Mark with a knife, chisel an angle, then sit your saw in the groove and go. Look up Paul Sellers on RUclips. He has helped me lots. Good luck bro
IMO get a good 1/2 inch chisel that's it. Otherwise, just grab a set of whatever is local and of reasonable price. How well you can sharpen dictates quality of work more so than the specific chisel.

why not use the saw for both cuts?
Takes longer and it’s not that accurate.

You can saw both, chisel both, or so a mixture based on your personal preference
