I was going to ask the same thing. I do mitreing with a cheap wood saw (The sort that costs less than $5 from Home Depot) and provided I take my time and make sure I’m cutting true, the job’s just as good as when done with a mitre saw, but without all that space being taken up in my toolbox! 👍🏽 (Let’s be honest, I live in the UK. We have to be *very* economical with space… 😉)
Looks good on video but if you think about it, its a bit silly that you are chiseling with a 45 degree guide block that you already prepared with a mitre saw. 😂 should have done this with the mitre saw.
My shop teacher back in highschool used to pull that kinda bullshit, he'd cut something on a miter saw before class, hit it with a chisel a few times and say he did it by hand so we should be able to as well. Those who can't do, teach.
@@zoutewand I mean that’s true and all but it’s about application. While no one would ever sail a boat with flex tape every day. People might see this and believe it is normal. There’s nothing wrong with doing it, it’s just that it can damage tools over time. A better demonstration would show how with right use and sharpening how these chisels hold sharpness and can get clean edges. Aka rub a rock on the blade and show how it keeps its edge.
Chisels aren't meant to be used like that. Cut the bulk away with a saw and then fine tune it with a chisel. For something like that, should only be chiseling about 1/8" off.
