British person here! I go to a lot of car boot sales/flea markets and have done for years. Bootleg DVDs come and go in terms of how commonly they’re sold… usually there’s someone tipping the police off and then that person mysteriously stops selling the bootlegs or goes to another fair where nobody cares. I’ve seen bootleg TV box sets, bootleg anime box sets, bootleg movies that are probably cam rips… I’m guessing OS Films wanted to be a legitimate outfit, then realised that they couldn’t just put out a well known cartoon like TRG without going through the proper licensing and distribution… got threatened with a lawsuit and disappeared.

But people selling them openly at flea markets is something you don’t see too often any more

We had a (pirate) DVD guy, a Chinese fella not that that makes any difference, who would do the rounds of local pubs on Saturday / Sunday lunchtimes, until very recent years. I don't do the carboot sales, etc., so much nowadays, but even by the standards of the bootleg DVDs you'd often see there, this particular DVD goes to bizarre lengths with some things. As I've just posted on my own comment, it almost feels like a fan video project that you might find knocking around on-line which somehow wound up in a 'proper' box and everything.
I think a lot of times, bootlegs aren't just to make money, aren't just fan-made labors of love, but also people trying to show potential future partners what their creative / technical prowess is.
Once again the amount of research and background info in your videos impresses the hell out of me. God this makes me really miss the days when official DVDs and Blurays actually had effort put into them. I miss disc art being printed on the discs.
I remember seeing PatMac's video on regional DVDs releases and their bootleg ones and I though "man, Phelous should cover bootleg DVDs on Bootleg Zones." Glad to see it finally happing. I wonder how many of these go beyond just having a silly/questionable cover.

Tip for any media collectors: Always collect bootlegs when you find them, they often have crazy stuff on them. I actively focus on bootleg media, VHS and cassettes mostly, and I have found some amazing history.

I have this bootleg Natalie Merchant concert recorded in 1996, it must have been in a tiny coffee shop because it sounds like she's in my living room singing right to me. One of my most prized possessions.

The demo only lasts about 20 minutes total, it features a much older style than what most people associate with the beatles.

I never thought I'd see a 105 second unskippable cutscene *on a DVD,* but here we are. I wonder though... since OS Films were capable of distorting the shape of the main franchise logo, were they the ones called upon to change the shape of those super scary pointy glasses for Jeanine?

But who exactly is John Smith? Is that his actual name or a pseudonym? Has he sung on or done voice work on anything else? The guy who sings the cartoon version of the theme song seems to be a complete mystery. If anyone would know anything about this, I'd think Phelous would. This DVD reminds me a lot of the dollar bootleg quality DVDs that Walmart had in there dollar section from 2000 to about 2002. It seems like I remember seeing this or something like it in that section too. The bootleg transformers ones were the best I ever bought from that section though
The only bootleg DVD I currently own is one from Malaysia containing Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation on one single disc my mother bought as a birthday present for me one year. From what I recall, the video seems to have been taken from the official Japanese blu-ray releases of both movies.
The menues are actually pretty cool but they scream 'PLEASE HIRE ME! I KNOW HOW TO USE PREMIERE AND AFTER EFFECTS!" Hey, I've been there. And considering the unskipple menu animation, I'm guessing they didn't include the skip option for that as a lot of DVD/blurays with those types of opening animations at least give you the option to skip forward to the ACTUAL menu. Ya know, because that crap can be annoying.

The TIME-LIFE DVD sets for RGB did the whole generic cel animation background for their covers. These guys even did some convincing animated menus incorporating the comics!❤

First off, I swear that Columbia Coca-Cola production logo was at one time considered lost media. I wonder if anyone thought to check out those UK RGB DVD's to look for it back then. And it is wild that, as annoying as a 2 minute menu intro is, considering Sony didn't even WANT to put RGB on DVD for the longest time, they deserved to be outclassed by something that looks fan-made. Really. They thought it would sell poorly because it was a "kid's show." That's why they had to partner with Time Life to get them out there.
Most likely considering the loose to non existant Copyright laws in many countries, the Philippines being no exception. Yeah, due to that, they were able to steal the Contender Entertsinment Group jingle from 2000. And speaking of OS Films, I think thisnis the only video where the logo is shown, because this logo is virtually non existant on this site.

So they took episodes from DVDs that were SPACE and SEA themed and they called it MANHATTAN Madness. Makes perfect sense.

Another thing is the silhouette of the World Trade Center on the bootleg cover. No production from 2005 would have that.

First off, I swear that Columbia Coca-Cola production logo was at one time considered lost media. I wonder if anyone thought to check out those UK RGB DVD's to look for it back then.
And it is wild that, as annoying as a 2 minute menu intro is, considering Sony didn't even WANT to put RGB on DVD for the longest time, they deserved to be outclassed by something that looks fan-made. Really. They thought it would sell poorly because it was a "kid's show." That's why they had to partner with Time Life to get them out there.
I had that. Wish I would've kept it.

Most likely considering the loose to non existant Copyright laws in many countries, the Philippines being no exception. Yeah, due to that, they were able to steal the Contender Entertsinment Group jingle from 2000. And speaking of OS Films, I think thisnis the only video where the logo is shown, because this logo is virtually non existant on this site.
