I met Carrie Fisher at the Wonder Con in San Francisco back in 2009 after waiting in line for hours. It was worth it, a couple of fans made Carrie a Light Saber and presented to her. She was great and turned it all into a ceremony with grace and kindness. Adam West was there too and the fans gave him a Frank Miller Dark Knight comic to read. It was great to hear Adam west say; " You do have a mother, don't you punk!" It was awesome. I miss them both so dearly. R.I.P , Adam West and Carrie Fisher you made my childhood very special. Thank You.
She had mixed feelings about the bikini. She hated wearing it because it made it uncomfortably to sit and it restricted a lot of her movements. But she did like the idea of an outfit that shows off her femininity.
One thing I like about that scene (besides Leia and Leia killing Jabba) is how all the three rescued each other. They were such an effective and bonded team.
I vaguely remember reading an interview she did after The Empire Strikes Back. She said something about a costume idea she had for the next movie that would be pretty daring or something. She also lost weight after they took her measurements for the costume, so the fit was pretty loose. There must've been plenty of guys on the set who got to see more than the audience did.

This video is a bit deceptive, cherry-picking post-feminist Carrie quotes in an attempt to convince viewers that she was somehow forced to wear the costume against her will and hated how revealing it was. The truth is that she disliked it because it was rigid metal: uncomfortable and difficult to keep in place. Just look at her Rolling Stones photoshoot, and it's obvious she loved how she looked while wearing it. For some balance, here are a few pre-feminist Fisher quotes on the costume: "It is truly an honor to have been the first crush of so many boys." "I have a costume I want to use that I think even Playboy would be proud of." "There's me with the good body."

Best cosplay of it was a guy masked as george lucas in the outfit n with a black robed micky holding the chain. The guys made it even into disneyworld like that n weren't kicked out, an achievement in it's own right i guess.
A strong character would absolutely wear the costume that Jabba provided in order to live another day, so she can kill him and save her friends and the rest of the captives. What would a modern "Strong Female Character" Do? Probably refuse to wear the costume and get killed. Putting her friends in further danger. Female characters had far better writing 40 years ago. This is the way!
Who cares fans loved it. And fans buy tickets to the movie and made her rich so who cares what she thinks of it. if she really hated it she would say no but money wins out in the end LOL
no its because it was the 70's and people werent so up tight. I teen or young lady today can walk around half naked and its acceptable but, she has a bra on.
I know Star Wars is a fantasy and all, but I would say that it was kind of sexist to have Leia wear that outfit, especially for the scene. To have the only “strong” female character in that position must have made things a bit awkward, especially the scenes where she was fighting a bunch of male characters, while probably prone to wardrobe malfunctions. Though it would be interesting to see them remake or reboot this movie for, reasons…
I guess I feel like being yelled at, but this is my truth. She did not look good in it. Not in my eyes. If Lucas wanted some skin, he should have brought in an extra to wear it. Leia in my view, would have earned her keep as a badass fighter. In fact, I often think Lucas was punishing Fisher for something at the expense of character continuity. Alright, fire away.
Which of the original three films is your favorite?
Return of the Jedi
Empire!

What is she thinking? The costume wasn't that bad and she was beautiful in it. So, I don't get it. May God bless us all, in Christ Jesus name I pray, Amen 😇
Poor Carrie Fisher, she died years ago 😢.
As someone who saw all 3 when they came out I can't honestly say I have a favorite. They are the holy trilogy and all 3 are my all time favorite movies. I can't say the same for the garbage Disney put out.
Who cares what she thought. The rest of us were more than satisfied
I’m sure she was proud in the end
Great scene btw
When she said "fat slimy worm ridden piece of filth" she was really talking about Lucas for making her wear his fetish costume :P
😂
It's constantly exaggerated that "oh she hated it! It was sexist and dehumanizing". Totally false. It was more of a mixed reaction. She said in an interview in 2010 or 2012 she liked the outfit.
@@AngelTorres-gm2bm that’s good.
four minutes of your life you'll never get back
Best cosplay of it was a guy masked as george lucas in the outfit n with a black robed micky holding the chain. The guys made it even into disneyworld like that n weren't kicked out, an achievement in it's own right i guess.
"... almost naked... ", come on! Women wear much less on the beach, even back in those days! 🙄
She looked great in the bikini.
There are no bras in space, except...
Too bad they waited so long to make any squeals where the original cast could be in future movies, they were so old by the time they got around to it.
I thought she did a great job of losing those lbs they wanted gone…thought she looked hot!
I wondered why Pizza the Hut would want a human in a sexy outfit.
A slug vs human????
To humiliate her.
I thought george lucas said "there is no underwear in space"...
She hated that costume! She said it was so uncomfortable. She got itchy, red rashes all around her body etc. RIP Carrie!
It shows a lot less than most bikinis these days.
я не фига не понял про что вы и о чём вы...но Принцеса Лея супер)
Oola's costume was sexier
Rip Carrie. 😕
Who cares fans loved it. And fans buy tickets to the movie and made her rich so who cares what she thinks of it. if she really hated it she would say no but money wins out in the end LOL
Made her a sex symbol
This is what "acting" is all about. DUH.
no its because it was the 70's and people werent so up tight. I teen or young lady today can walk around half naked and its acceptable but, she has a bra on.
Even when I was a kid when I saw this new, it pissed me off how she was dressed, because Jabba forced her into it
I bet she wasn't unhappy about the the salary and residuals it generated
good
why
I know Star Wars is a fantasy and all, but I would say that it was kind of sexist to have Leia wear that outfit, especially for the scene. To have the only “strong” female character in that position must have made things a bit awkward, especially the scenes where she was fighting a bunch of male characters, while probably prone to wardrobe malfunctions. Though it would be interesting to see them remake or reboot this movie for, reasons…
It was way over the top for a children's movie
I guess I feel like being yelled at, but this is my truth. She did not look good in it. Not in my eyes. If Lucas wanted some skin, he should have brought in an extra to wear it. Leia in my view, would have earned her keep as a badass fighter. In fact, I often think Lucas was punishing Fisher for something at the expense of character continuity. Alright, fire away.
oh shit im the first comment, quick, i gotta think of something funny thatll get me 1000s of likes
Can’t like anything from Violence Enjoyer!
You failed. I liked it anyway.
