Cobra Kai has managed to mine depth out of the light hearted popcorn fair of the Karate Kid franchise. The series that launched a million teenage karate students in the 80s has continued to loom large in the zeitgeist as we contemplate who the real bully was or if Daniel’s final kick should have counted as a point. After the original movie the sequels added even more characters and more background until the over the top cartoon-like third film featuring the gleefully bad Terry SIlver and his elaborate plane to torture and humiliate a teenager over a karate tournament win. Sure we’ve all been exploring the world suggested by the three movies and what their ramifications might have been, not everyone thought that the series would be something that could be revisited over thirty years after Daniel-san delivered his last All Valley Under-18 tournament win. That is until the series Cobra Kai revisited the seminal 80s bully Johnny Lawerence living his life haunted by that one kick and how it has prevented him from moving on. A chance encounter prompts Johnny from bringing back Cobra Kai which brings all of those most eventful two years of young Daniel’s life. With the past being churned up like a yard full of dogs, there’s plenty of opportunities to do callbacks, some small, some large. Season five ups the game, but the references have been coming fast and loose the whole time. What’s your favorite callback? With a Cobra Kai movie on the way, do you think it will be full of the original Karate Kid references?
There is no Cobra Kai movie. Sony is working on a movie titled Karate Kid for a 2024 release; however, the movie will have nothing to do with the Cobra Kai franchise
Holy crap a movie? HAHA! I love it!!! HAHAHAHAHHAH
It will be a flop, the original Karate Kid will always be the best!
What's a Rye-U Did you mean Goju Ryu? Pronounced REE-U To pronounce Japanese words; A is always "ah", E is always "eh", I is always "ee" O is "oh" and U is always "ooh"/U Ryu=Ree-U. Just saying.
Kreese telling Daniel that he "doesn't want his greasy cousin" as a lawyer is the best Easter egg ever.
Yep, Johnny's picturing a lawyer cousin of Daniel's as someone alot like Louie, who Johnny's already seen as Daniel's greasy cousin
@@alvexok5523 But its also a subtle reference and joke to Ralph Macchio's movie 'My Cousin Vinny' where Joe Pesci played his cousin and lawyer.
@@OfficiallyOfficiallyUnofficial yes and Daniel refers to his cousin, Louie’s sister, as Marissa Tomei Jr 😜
I also like when Amanda confronts Kreese and calls him Rambo. Martin Kove played a villain that betrays him in Rambo 2.
@NotMeNaNaNa Louie's sister happens to be Macchio's real life daughter
It's amazing how many original cast members they got.
Yeah, and how many other 80s movies besides the Karate Kid movies have come back 30 years later for a series with most of the original actors reprising their characters?
Are there any that haven’t returned yet?
@@stephenagbay9396 Julie is the only one who has yet to make an appearance. Hopefully she can come back in season 6, because they will need a female sensei to combat Kim Dae-Un
@@AnarkeeSoundVibes Meh.. Not really caring about this one. But we shall see. Hopefully if she does come back it will be for a bit role like Barnes.

Facts
I’m always a sucker for stories about friendship. The way that Johnny, Chosen, & Daniel became close friends really made me smile. Additionally I really liked how Robby & Miguel baca me friends too.
By far season 5 is one of my favorite and most nostalgic and fun seasons to watch lol great job Cobra Kai creators and the writers as well.
Was Daniel the real bully?
This may be hindsight bias, but I sincerely believe that, in the first KK film, Daniel wads a flawed hero and Johnny was an anti-hero. The villain was Kreese. That is what the writers where trying to tell us with Miyagi's famous line, "there is no such thing as a bad student, only a bad teacher."
Yeah, I think you’re right
Exactly. His “flawed hero” arc was the whole point leading to his character development.
Ironic twist: Johnny has come closer to Mr. Miagi's teachings and philosophies than anyone else on the show and as an added bonus, he's the only character that strikes terror in Mike Barnes. Barnes has a "fear look" you see in KK3 when Miagi kicks his ass, then Kreese and Silver's asses, it's kind of a wide-eyed "WTF just happened" look, he's given Johnny that same look no less than twice in the show. "I did most of that." -Johnny [With that look in his eyes] "Yeah you did." - Mike Barnes
Miagi was the sensei Johnny Lawrence needed and most emulates.
Watched the sunglasses part last night and immediately realized that it was an easter egg. He even held them for the camera a little bit longer
Chozen was my favorite character but I wish we saw more of Mike
Silver also told Kenny the same thing he told Daniel. "You like that, huh?"
A retro poster based on Rocky III for Cobra Kai would be cool.
Silver is evil turned to 11. He wants to take over the world with karate schools. Crazy thing? He sells it so well I'm like "Good plan".
Daniel didn't buy mr miyagis ticket to Okinawa - he used his college money to get his own passport and to buy a ticket so he could go with mr miyagi. He said it cost him more because he bought the ticket the same day as the flight.
Does anyone else think Johnny was the original Karate Kid, but Daniel came and took the title?
I didn’t notice the stance Stingray used was just like the stance Miyagi used!
The Hubby-san was so funny
The small temple statue in chozen's dojo. Is the same figure from the karate kid cartoon
@ 5:20 I see that as a little throwback to when Myagi throws Silver into the mirror at the end of their fight in the dojo
Thought the same when I first watched it.
You missed Mike Barnes, "In order to do my very best, I am going to need 50%".
It would’ve been funny if Silver now runs a green energy company.
Was "a cousin lawyer" referencing Ralph Macchio in "My Cousin Vinny" in the prison visiting scene with Daniel, Johnny and Kreese not mentioned because it's not in the "Karate Kid" universe?
It was definitely a nod to “My Cousin Vinny”.
It can't be an Easter egg if the whole show is full of flashbacks and callbacks
They changed the story in Cobra Kai of the 1983 tournament. It was originally Bobby who beat Daryl Vidal and reached the finals against Johnny instead Tommy.
Ironic twist: Johnny has come closer to Mr. Miagi's teachings and philosophies than anyone else on the show and as an added bonus, he's the only character that strikes terror in Mike Barnes. Barnes has a "fear look" you see in KK3 when Miagi kicks his ass, then Kreese and Silver's asses, it's kind of a wide-eyed "WTF just happened" look, he's given Johnny that same look no less than twice in the show;
"I did most of that." -Johnny
[With that look in his eyes] "Yeah you did." - Mike Barnes
Miagi was the sensei Johnny Lawrence needed and most emulates.
Cobra Kai Flagship Dojo looks 🔥 ngl
I liked the easter egg when Penis 'mitch' breath asked anyone if they wanted warm coke, same question tommy said, when johnny was first introduced along with his gang.
Thanks! Really well done! :) BTW, it's pronounced "s-TEH-ra" (Peter Cetera).
One of Daniel's explanations for Silver being at the hospital was that he might be selling kidneys on the black market that sounds like the Thomas Ian Griffith movie Beyond forgiveness blood of the innocent
It’s more likely that silver has some kind of sickness that is yet to be revealed
Great vid... but 10:02 Mockeeo? Lol
12:20 "Settera"??? LOL
Glory of love. Power of love was back to the future.
Also, who is Peter "Settera" LOL
Daniel was the real bully and still used a illegal kick 😆
GET HIM A BODY BAG, YEAHH 😅
Nope, you only missed these if you didn't watch Season 5 or the origninal KK movies. And it's not 'Sayyto', it's 'Sahhto'.
They also said Peters last name wrong. Cetera
I watched StreamThis talk about terry silvers kick and I about died 😆
Amazing show.and cast to love them all❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😮
I think most real fans from the 80's got all the Rocky 4 and Sun glass Easter Eggs yet nobody talks about the biggest Easter of all in a season 4 flashback when Johnny's mom forcefully took young Johnny's box of old toys and a brief (very quick) image of an old army boot was in the box of toys. Will Krease finally reveal he's Johnny Sr. in season 6 (before he heads back to prison)? Heard it here first 😁
Can't happen as Kreese didn't have any children of his own and the love of his life died while he was in Vietnam.
@@AnarkeeSoundVibes we know his first wife died while Krease was in Vietnam and we know who Johnny's real mom is. NOTHING is known about Krease after Vietnam up to 1984. Assuming Krease was discharged in the early 70's would perfectly match Johnny's age. And if I'm wrong than who's army boot was in Johnny's box of toys?
@@pinebarrenpatriot8289 all I'm gonna say is this; John Kreese and Terry Silver both confirmed that they don't have any children of their own, and the fact that Johnny is 12-14 years old in 1979 when he joined Cobra Kai means Kreese can't be Johnny's father.
@@AnarkeeSoundVibes If Johnny was anywhere near 14 years old in 1979 that means he'd be 19 or possibly 20 years old during the First movie yet he was just starting his senior year of high school. Sorry but that doesn't add up.
Love the series
Great
One more easter egg, is that in the final fight of the s5 e10 chozen wears similar if not the same necklesses that he wears in kk2
Daniel is still not the real bully because e erything Daniel is guilty of, all the antagonists of the Karate Kid saga are guilty of much more. The very definition of bullying is about picking on people who are smaller and weaker. Daniel never did that. Any madness that Daniel temporarily succumbed to was because the Cobra Kai bullies drove him to madness until Miyagi called him back to balance.
Silver was so coked up in the original 😂😂
KARATE KID 3
was in 1989
Oh, I thought this was supposed to be all the easter eggs I missed? Guess I am more observant than most?
This video should be titled "may have missed". I saw all of these during the episodes...
The thing was that chojun Miyagi did tang soo do the style witch cobra Kai uses and his picture was hung in Daniel's dojo
miyagi to yukiei - i should have taken you with me / (Phone) - Chozen to Kumiko - i should have taken you with me
The refrance that got me good was the my cousin Vinny one from season five when kreese said I want a good lawyer not one of your grease ball cousins from Jersey
Who else feels like this ends with mortal combat?
Silver is the og Green Goblin let's be honest
Not to nitpick but the “Daniel fund” was a scene he had with Miguel in season 4 when he was helping fix Miguel’s mom car, not with Robby.
I find it hilarious adults wont fight teens but yet people can get away with Arson, theft, burglary, DTP, Assault 😂😂😂
Forgot one: she did, he didn’t. Hawk says that line when he Miguel and demetri are talking in miyagi do
Here is something you missed, but did touch on at the end when talking about Shimpo Miyagi and the real founder of Gōjū-ryū (Miyagi-do), Chōjun Miyagi.
In The Karate Kid 2, Mr. Miyagi's father's name is listed as Miyagi Chōjun. The founders name in reverse.
There is also another thing most people miss.
When Gōjū-ryū (Miyagi-do) founder Chōjun Miyagi died in 1953, he failed to name a successor to carry on his style of Karate, though there were a few top students in line who have done so. One of those students name was Seikichi Toguchi. Toguchi is the last name of Sato and Chozen.
Tang Soo-Do (Cobra Kai Karate) is actually a real style of Karate based martial arts from Korea. Some of its more famous practitioners include William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence), Cynthia Rothrock and Chuck Norris.
You missed mike Barnes saying Having trouble breathing and in the first season Kyler and Johnny say having trouble breathing
At 2:13 that wasn’t a cliff that was a hill, a cliff has a drop off not a roll down
Ralph needs to get better hair or hairpiece, which is not embarrassing, but c'mon, all the money. Your hair should always look amazing
Bro I am a pizza 💀
Oh I like this, I'm gonna share this.......hhhhhhhaaaa 😏
*bold of you to assume I missed them.*
Conspiracy theories on anything can either ruin a certain movie or show.
This though. Im getting mixture of opinions.
what was that punch at 12:57 ?
I knew most of the easter eggs.
Uncle SAYDO??? My gosh, man. Did you even watch the originals? You. Are. NOT. Worthy.
Elizabeth Shue aged amazingly well ❤
You guy's missed Miss Andrews bringing Daniel Mac-N-Cheese when she comes to visit.... Amateurs.

Just missing that Julie Easter egg 😔 maybe S6
“Power of love 😂” **** glory of love 🤦🏻♂️

Aren't Easter eggs supposed to be hidden??
What even is this video besides a recap of the obvious?
We all know terry silver would beat every cobra Kai character, he only lost to daniel because of the state he was in after what happened with chozen
So true he is most definitely the strongest , not the most skilled but he can beat anyone
Actually what distracted him was the kids weren't listening to him anymore. They only heard him
@@andreadeamon6419 yeah, ok we’ll point still stands, if he was in a normal state of mind he would beat anyone
D rider
@@hitta631 I’ll ride whatever Mr. silver requests
You totally butchered Peter Cetera's name.
SAH-TOE
SAH TOE not SAY DOE
It’s obvious the narrator of this video isn’t really good with pronouncing Japanese terms really well. Example: Goju Ryu is pronounced Goh-jū Ree-yu not Rye yu. Oh and kata is NOT a technique in Karate. Lol. It’s a series of interpreted moves that helps develop combination attacks and defense, yet translates differently when applied in an actual fight. No martial artist ever does kata in combat. 😂

Wrong. Even the writers got it wrong. Chozen was buying the crops from the farmers. His weights were light, so that the payout for crops was lighter.

So let me ask a quick question only one of the 3 original movies made was even watchable and yet you rebooted it into this garbage that people have to pay attention to it all times.. I think humanity has reached its end if anybody cares what Johnny is doing now.. just honk the nose and walk away.
