That’s why we’ve brought together everything about the Cobra Kai series for every fan out there who has seen the series now that the first two seasons have dropped on Netflix!
Watch as we go through the original Karate Kid movie now that Cobra Kai has shown us Johnny Lawrence’s perspective on things. What does the new series say about the original movie? 2:03 - 2:10 - alot of apartment complexes look like that in working-class suburbs of L.A. such as Receda and southern Cali though. However, since CK was supposed to be in Reseda and vicinity but was filmed in Atlanta, the producers likely did deliberately find an apartment block similarly designed to Daniel's in KK for Johnny to live in. KK was actually filmed in Receda and vicinity. I've not been sure why CK wasn't filmed there since it was supposed to be there

And thinking that Johnny didn’t seem like a bad guy. It was kind of the people around him. It’s like we were forced to believe he was a bad person. But when you watch the film. When Danny meets Mr. Miyagi for the first time it's to do with a busted faucet.. when Miguel first meets Johnny he has a list and asks "have you have any issues with the pipes.. water pressure ?"

Why does no one talk about how Johnny showed respect to Daniel at the end of the first movie’s tournament
That was an excellent moment and showed actually what a good human being that Johnny is and he does have a big heart even though he projects the big tough guy image. It's so funny, I'm looking at these characters as if they were real and I'm really caught up emotionally with them. I love Johnny - it doesn't hurt that he's hot and has a great physique. Even his voice is stirring to the soul. Ha ha, I'm smitten. I can't wait for season 3 to root for Johnny. Even all my family is on his side.

I noticed that when I rewatched it recently. I think the only reason he is resentful towards Daniel as an adult is because he blames the tournament loss as the moment that he lost his father figure

The greatest thing in this, compared to other reboots is that the main characters are still the main characters. Too many reboots bring in the characters that we know and love as just cameos.

The actual villain is Kreese, Silver and Chozin. Neither Johnny nor Daniel is or even WAS a villain.

@@rudypepperable How so, I don't think it ever gave any proof of that. You're assuming based off how he was when the show started. It's very possible that like what often happens in real life, his wife/girlfriend got custody of the kid. She is obviously a low life based on her time in the show. Which all lead to his sons delinquent behavior.
The fact he was trying to help his son and turn him around even after all the clear bullshit in the past proves he likely wasn't a deadbeat dad, he just didn't have the opportunity to actually teach/raise his kid.
The Ironic thing is that Cobra Kai has gotten more publicity on RUclips now, in the short 3-months that Netflix has owned it than it ever did when it was produced and streamed on RUclips in Two Years???

Yeah, I think because people own Netflix more than RUclips Premium. YT promoted the series decently, but it was more about accessibility. Also, the news media also just started to talk about this even though they also did promote the show back then but I guess Netflix is more influential.
Netflix is good for that. Take the Office for example. It only grew when it reached Netflix

I’d put off watching this show for a few years due to my reservations. Decided to give it a go finally and was hooked immediately. Watched the 2 seasons in one sitting and so thankful I only have a week until season 3 hits. Never been more happy to have been wrong about this show!!! Epic throughout!!!

I like how they showed him as the PTSD Sociopath who has agressive sympathy for poor kids or kids from broken families.

Daniel isn’t a true protagonist but the villain is and always has been Kreese, not Johnny or Daniel.
Edit: I’d like to clarify something, when I say Daniel isn’t a true protagonist, I mean he displays antagonistic qualities (quite often) however, while he is clearly the main protagonist, he isn’t a traditional protagonist.

I did the exact same. My brother insisted I sit down and watch it. So the other day I started watching season 1 in the afternoon and finished the whole season in one sitting. Then I woke up the next morning and watched the entirety of season 2 in one sitting as well.

One of the things I love most about this show is their way of writing characters. There's not a single character on the show who is just one dimentional. Hawk for example, despite changing his appearance and attitude is still extremely insecure. The first real sign of this is in the tournament when he's fighting Robby. He thought that by changing his appearance, he would never be made fun of again but then Robby insulted his hairstyle and that's all it took for him to snap and attack him from behind.
The car Mr. Miyagi gave Daniel was actually given to the actor in real life. To this day that car sits in his garage

Most of these things weren't missed. But what might've been missed, by some, is that LaRusso often reacts to things in pretty much the opposite way Mr Miyagi would've. Almost every time a new piece of information surfaces, Daniel jumps to the wrong conclusion at first;;; This is the opposite of what Miyagi taught.

This series is amazing! Great storylines and deep character development with countless nods to the fabulous ‘80’s. The result of this is that apparently I am rooting now for everyone! Great acting performances by the old team and also the new; especially the way how they dug into the life and psyche of Johnny Lawrence and the way William Zabka is able to really own this role, just a fantastic performance! I can’t wait for Season 3!

That end fighting scene was epic, had me glued for the full 5hours it run. It was exciting and not predictable
I didnt expect to watch more than 5 min of Cobra Kai, and ended up binging it so fast, and crying through the last ep, its sooo good
This show literally feels like it’s actually happening in the valley
I think what makes it so good is how Johnny and Daniel are just 2 sides of the same coin, so your able to root for both of them because neither side is “wrong,” but neither side is “right.”

Oh hell no, that was a garbage movie and doesn't deserve the karate kid title.....
Not gonna happen. She was never really a big fan of that one even though it was her big break. She is a two time Oscar winner for movies that came afterwards she's more proud of that work. Plus, she's constantly working on various projects.
Same as Tamlyn Tomita. Tomita probably works more than her or Shue. I would garner she's worked way more consistently and on more projects than Macchio, Zabka and Kove combined over the last few years. The writers would have to really come up with something memorable for either women to turn down another project for a small appearance on the show. Definitely with Shue.
After the second movie she was angry with the film makers for how her character was written off. They basically made "Ali" look like a girl who in the span of 1 year bounced from guy to guy to UCLA football player and wrecked Daniel's car.
They made her character married now. If the writers were to pull something similar and have her character end up having an affair with Johnny or even Daniel she may not go for it because it would reinforce what the film makers did in the second movie.

One thing that seems to never be brought up is that in the first movie, Johnny is the two-time defending champion of the All Valley Under-18 Karate Championships tournament.

I'd really like to see a Last Starfighter series, with the pilot coming back to recruit a new generation of starfighters. I know it'd be cheesy as frack but I don't care. I'm pretty sure some part of my personality was probably formed by how many times I watched that movie.
I love The Last Starfighter. Just watched it again a few nights ago. I'm not sure about a continuation though. A remake could be cool. I mean, a continuation could work as well but I think just remake the original as long as they don't screw it up. Flight of the Navigator too while we're at it. Xena, Earth the Final Conflict (with some serious rewrites but same intro song)

loved this series since it was on RUclips! Hope Netflix doesn’t change it around too much
I love that they bring back all the original cast and show their histories so u know why they became the way they are. Kreese always was portrayed as pure evil but after watching season 3 u can understand how he became like that. Haven’t seen any show yet that dug so deep into the characters, loving it. Just wish they would make the seasons longer, but maybe thats the secret of their popularity they always leave us wishing for more.
All through season 3 I kept yelling at the tv/ kreese saying that they're kids not soldiers. He trains his students like they're going into battle. Strike first, strike hard no mercy is exactly how you'd act while in the middle of a war. Before he killed his sgt on the bridge, he said that he will never listen to him again or that he made the mistake of listening to him, but yet he bases Cobra Kai on what he learned from him in the Vietnam.
Here are more "things no one noticed": The show has the SAME NAME as Johnny's dojo from the first movie! WOW! Johnny and Daniel are played by the same actors that were in the Karate Kid! AMAZING! Daniel uses Karate in his car commercials, and he knows Karate for real! SHOCKING! This guy's list could have been much longer.

The real villain is Kreese. He's the one that taught Jhonny how to fight dirty, Strike First, Strike Hard, And No Mercy. If he taught Jhonny Self Defence as Mr. Miyagi did to Larusso then the whole movie would change and it would be where there was barely any fighting except the tournament and when the sensei tell them to, instead of fighting when no one told them to. But Kreese will never do that because he was treated like trash when he was younger, He joined the army and then his coach told him to Strike First, Strike Hard, And Show No Mercy. Of course, Kreese followed his rules and he became a bad person. He ended up going to a battle where if he fell he would die, he had to fight some guy on a plank above a pit of snakes, and if you fall well.... Let's just say no one will see you in the next years and decades and yea. So to be honest with you I think it's the people that taught Kreese to Strike First, Strike Hard, And Show No Mercy. I'm sorry, No one asked for my opinion but I think that is who the villain is and if you don't like it then So be it cause it's not gonna change.

I loved hot tub time machine but I didn't realize that Johnny lawrence was in it even though I always felt something was very familiar about the character he played.
I just told the wife the same thing. I'm ashamed that I didn't recognize him! LOL!

Good show, but Daniel to me is not the villain. He still has some things to learn. .
I think Kreese is the villain but even he’s misunderstood and kinda tragic when you think about what he experienced in the war
The actors have not said much about season 3. The who is Daniel said in interview with Conan talk show. Daniel's actor said that they are filming in Japan. Then he brought up what filming in Karate kid part 2 movie was film in Hawaii. So season three might be about parts of karate kid part 2 movie.
Kreese is the true villain. Daniel likes Johnny when he’s not involved with cobra Kai because he relates cobra Kai to kreese
Daniel's still got some growin to do before he could ever be considered a villain. He has however been known to be a bit of a prick.
