  • This is about installing flex duct system for a part of my HVAC realignment project. It's great to have some flex duct so that you'll have some wiggle room around the ducts!

Using red and green will give you a much nicer and smoother faster cut tho

No no no! You don't cut wire with your tin snips! Get some side cutters.

Yeah thanks for pointing it out. I also felt it’s not the best practice

Hey man thanks for sharing the video!! At the 2:30 mark in your video. Off to your left side you have a duct running down the wall cavity using a oval duct to fit there. Do you use anything to hold it in place or is it just free hanging between register and top elbow. Asking because I’m at that part in my basement finish!! Thanks!

I had (removable/replaceable) straps to fix the elbow before coming down to the register. In fact I had multiple points along the duct running across the top where it was fixed by straps. Once the elbow is fixed I didn’t much need much fixing for the duct coming down though. Thanks for watching!!

@@hammerandrake thanks I didn’t even think to use straps! I saw the fabric style or metal ones they use for flexible duct to hold it up so it’s not all saggy in ceiling. Thanks for the tip I’ll def go pick some up today and continue with my hvac install. Also thanks again for videos your type of content helps everyone from paying thousands and save us some money. Actually yea I can see a metal strap wrapped around the elbow now that I pause and zoom in

Why would you not…insulate the T-Fittings & Elbows?.
BTW?, When you crush insulation? it loses its insulating value.

It's great stuff until mice or rats decides to chew through it and make way into your home. Then you have a nice leak heating your crawlspace or basement.
