Corey: he’s a camera I’m reviewing and a general update on my life and photography and the existential crisis we all face...
Audience: Hair!!
nice work Corey! we would love to work on a video with you! :)
After you watched this did you think you screwed up by not taking ictures of the shadows and rails of the foot bridge ??
If you wanna ever want to sell it, I'll buy it
"On the market"??!!! Not for 20 years!!
hmm corey is hot with short hair..?
welcome bck søn
should have dubbed an RZ shutter over that squeak... nobody would even know
How about a shot of 👉 Chicken City. 🐔
CEO of: If you're not interested in my early thoughts on the camera, you can skip to 10:22 for more shooting.
I've used 6x7 (Pentax) for more than 30 years, as well as several Fuji 645 cameras, including a GA645Zi, the "zoom" lens version of what he is using here. He makes way too much of the image advantage of 6x7 over 645 based on negative size. The 67 is only about 50% larger than the 645. Unless you are making 16x20 wet darkroom prints, it is very unlikely that you would notice any sharpness or grain size differences between the two sizes. If like most today, you are scanning your film and inkjet printing, you'll see no difference at all. The raw film image is "processed" (stepped on) by the scanner, punched up in Lightroom or Photoshop, and printed in 300 dpi squirts of ink. That is enough to loose the fine differences in film image between really good 67 and 645. I hope Corey takes the time to learn the details of managing his GA645, as its feature include "A", aperture priority, and a clumsy Manual, "M", as well as a manual focus override, also a bit troublesome to use. The 60mm lens on his camera is roughly equivalent to a 35mm lens on a 35mm camera; it is considered to be a superb lens. I'm drifting toward my Fuji 645 cameras because at 74 and with some handicap, I can no longer effectively transport my Pentax 67 gear over any distance.
Camera makes sounds like the '80s. Camera was made in the '80s.
it was made in the 90;s not the 80s ....
Wait?!? I was told 'P' is for 'Pro'.
I’m not even tryna be a hater or anything but videos like these are kinda annoying because all they do is drive up the price
I don't understand why the viewfinder is an issue? The camera shoots portrait so the viewfinder is portrait, right?
So expensive now. I bought mine when it was starting to pick up in price. A great camera. You get used to the noise after a while. Also use the button on the front to pre-focus the rangefinder. While the lens is super sharp, I do wish it was a 2.8.
@13:09 OK... right about now, maybe... you should have given the film camera to the video camera operator... I like the video shots! ...in the golden hour... IMHO
That hot shoe leveler tho👀👀👀
Did you end up keeping it Corey, or did you end up selling it and if do you regret it?
do people usually shoot 'left eyed' when the viewfinder is on the side like that? I cant stop looking at it now
I have tried shooting with my right eye with all cameras like this. It was especially awkward when I got a Leica since it is known for that right eye look when shooting, but even still I always went back to my left eye.
@@coreywolfenbarger8992 I shoot rangefinder-style cameras for that reason specifically. Being left eye dominant sucks on SLR style cameras.
When purchasing beware of the wheel, I’ve owned a few of these and the wheel malfunctions at times. make sure you try setting the iso with out it any hiccups.other than that it’s a super solid camera.
Nice photos
I liked the hp5
I’ve held this camera before and it’s really an oversized point and shoot but i thinks it’s great overall
I got the zi in my ebay cart :'0 should I do it?
GREAT REVIEW, BUT YOUR MUSIC IS TO LOUD
man the viewfinder threw me off so much when i was using this camera. like when it focuses and changes a little bit. i didnt keep this camera around long lol
Keep up the good work Corey!!! I've been curious about this camera for awhile. Those mechanical sounds are killing me!
Damn. I really want this camera but know that this video can make the price even steeper.
Love your videos though man
The Outfield catch it while you can!
hair lookin fine as fuck
Chicken city is the spot
Great vid Corey. Always down for more Fuji GA645 business. Also Ilford you heard the man, fix your sticky.
Just picked up a Fuji GW690ii that I'm looking forward to try because of the 6x9 negative, but I'm still on the hunt for a 645 so that I can be bit more economical. Love the shots of the water
I had two of these. Really liked the form factor, but the fact that you can never know if the AF is actually working properly-no bueno. Had to send one in to have the AF calibrated, and then i just never trusted it again. The other one was fine when i tested it, then i took it to Brazil, and maybe the vibration from travel through it out of whack? I dunno. I do know that all of that costly film and processing and travel experience were wasted, when the shots were mostly out of focus (except for the ones covered by DOF). Autofocus film 'rangefinders' are risky.
Looks like a rad camera. It tripped me out just watching you hold it like a portrait then seeing a landscape shot result. I can't imagine shooting like that haha. LOVED the shot of the church doors.
FUJI GAGA5
Highly underrated camera
Very cool 😎. Throw in a roll of Cinestills 800T and have your mind blown 🤯
The inverted viewfinder is tripping me out haha. So weird seeing you hold the camera in portrait but coming out with a landscape photo. Those 645 scans are sooo nice though.
Does anyone know if this has flash?
a bit late but yes, there is a flash
4:33 is such a good shot!
Not going to lie I miss this an alien of a camera but fantastic ergonomics. I had the 645i version so that extra button on the front was great for landscape shots! when im not a broke college student I will definitely buy this again.
you like saying ergonomics because it sounds more official and scientific !! that's because it is a greek word !! in greek almost anything sounds official !! it is explainable though because ancient Greeks had gone very far with science and their language is part of their science !! 6:50
awesome video man, I’ve never shot 6x4.5 but I’d love to have those extra shots compared to the 10 I get on my rb67
Damn now I regret that I sold mine :/ great video bud!
i have the wide version of this camera, and the mechanical version as wel. fuji definitely KILLED the game with the GA/GS series
Love the haircut ✊🏽🔥
Worries about golden hour, shoots black and white.
haircut is soooo freshh
shout out to whomever color corrected this video because mooooods
Hey! Good to see here again. Interesting camera as well. Cheers!
the sound of the camera sounds like it could kill someone
I almost picked up that same camera at Robert's Camera in Indianapolis. A week about but someone nabbed it already. GRRRR WAS IT YOU that got it? hahaha
Nope. Heard you say from a friend in Cali. How funny I almost picked this up.
you take some clean photos man! as always. dig the videos.
Awesome video! I think Fuji did that weird thing with how you shoot inverted to keep the camera compact. They did it in a lot of their medium format cameras and you get used to it. I have one of Fuji's zoom point and shoot cameras and absolutely love their stuff!!
hey, why do you say "make some photos" rather than "take some photos"?
Its actually good for street photography, you can change the prefocus with a dial. And you don’t necessarily care too much about the electronic noise after taking the picture.
I'm a little shook that there was no shot of the light on that bridge at 4:00. Great video though 👏🏽
Cool camera😀
Musicbed.com relatable
Great video and super captures. Love the music you chose and good to see you try out new gear. Curious about your future videos.
Thanks for the kind comment. Really means a lot!
All of the analogue guys, willem, Joe greer, etc. Are shooting the same things, the same style, the same cameras, the same film stock. You have see one of them, then you have see all of them.
Dude thank you for making a video on this bad boy!!
Can’t wait to be able to pick up my own
Kinda sold me the camera tbh
OH WE CLEAN CUT BOIS NOW
I've wanted to get into 645 but haven't yet thanks for the insight!!
Frick yea I like this video
Stoked this was a longer video- good stuff
New Hairstyle, New video!
Love your work dude. Keep crushing
Thanks Jake, have looked up to your hustle and work from afar for awhile. Really appreciate the love man!
All the photo look so sick corey love it so much 🥰
damn i wish i didnt sell mine after watching this video
Aye i live in garland!
I own one of these, never understood why they put in a leaf shutter when it sounds like a screaming cat on helium every time the film winds
The only thing I can think of is that leaf shutters can flash sync at higher speeds than focal plane shutters.
Great video.
Awesome man. Love that camera
Nice shots
Nice with the fresh hair cut!
Nice video. Like the hair
I also own this camera, bought it years ago. The lens is really sharp and good, I confirm that :-)
In this video I prefer more the colour photos. Nice channel, subscribed :-)
you won this camera fabrizio??!?!! do u have a video on it? I just bought a zi version =)
@@81springbrook96 Yes, I own it and I use it from time to time, it's a great camera. I don't have any videos yet but I inteded to make one in spring. Have fun with your "zi" version, it's also nice ;-)
@@FabrizioZago i and SO excited to try it out! i'll have a video on it within march =)
@@81springbrook96 I think you'll have fun ;-)
omg your hair’s gone!
sry
I have a hard time understanding the point and shoot craze. I just use my smartphone for that.
You don't see the point of a medium format negative/chrome versus an iphone? That's kinda sad.... But, why are you here? Just investigating?
@@CentaurusRelax314 No, medium fomat makes sense, and the GA645 is not really outrageously priced. But I refer to the point and shoot craze he is mentioning. Search ebay for contax T2. Modern smartphone will beat the pants out of 35mm for a fraction of the price.
Let them enjoy- it's more people buying film which is a good thing :)
dope
13:20 omg that’s a beautiful shot
the big man is back 🎉
Man, "ISO" is correctly pronounced "EYE-so". Not "eye-ess-oh,". It is a word, not an acronym despite being in capital letters. Loved your video ;)
It´s an acronym for International Organization for Standardization actually, but it's pronounced aɪsoʊ anyway
Or eye sore
I owned one years ago and regret selling it now. Mine was the GS645 with the bellows. Like to buy one again but hard to decide which variant. There are some that are manual focus w/meters. 60mm lenses, 45mm lenses and 90mm lenses as well as 6x7 and even 6x9 versions. Normally shoot either a DSLR or 35mm film so trying to pick something as far from that as possible to give something much different than I can do now. The auto focus, auto everything version like yours is tempting but I do worrk about electronics failing in these.
lovely photos Corey
645 is laid out on the negative in portait orientatio (the shotest edge of the frame runs the length of the film strip) so that you will get 16 shots on the roll that is why it you have to turn the camera to get a landscape shot. if it was framed the other way then you would get the same number of shots as you would on 6x6
the motor noise is what everybody who ever had a motor driven film camera had to put up with. and invariably the roll would run out and go into rewind just as you wanted to make the least noise. It was the 1990's version of your phone ringing as you are hiding from the bad guy in the movie.
Fab video!!
