Hey I saw an ad recently you know the old company Power Bilt golf they came out with some new irons look like p770 looks legit only like $499 I think you should test them they even made a $479 persimmon wood too for the modern golf ball, just FYI before other RUclips’s jump on it
Hi Alex bought the Cobra darkspeed a couple of months ago, wow what a driver I haven't found so many fairways in my life as I do now .Highly recommend this driver .
Alex, good information. I like these types of videos covering the less expensive equipment that CAN deliver. I found a used TaylorMade r15 14* Driver, outstanding condition, and headcover for $85 (US). I hit about a dozen shots with it, bought it. Most impressive for me, it had a R flex shaft, which I have been working to get back to. When I got it home, I slapped a regular sized jumbo grip on it. I hit it several times out on the ranch. I made the correction for my tee height from your video a while back. I can get a solid 220 to 230 now and dispersion is not bad at all. I had been using my 3W, 15 degrees and getting 15yds less distance on average. There is some really good value in the used market these days.
Took up golf last year. After a few months of playing I bought a Srixon ZX Mk II driver. Best club I own. It was massive in helping get rid of my slice and has been a major factor in getting my distances up from around 200 m (220 y) to 240 m - 250 m (260 y - 275 y). Luckily for me I’m too new to golf to have even considered the sound as a factor in club choice - it was all about the feel and results for me.
I got my '21 ZX5 for $180 shipped (new) from an online dealer in summer '23. Might I rather have gotten one of the other big dogs? I guess so- it would be fun to play around with some, anyway. But not for hundreds more. It will be interesting to see if MK2 gets under $200 anyplace next summer. Alex, you did a hit-off last year with the Mk2 and 5 big dogs and it did great- maybe 2nd or a close third and you pronounced it the best value at that time. I assume the others were Stealth 2, Paradym, Aerojet, G430 and maybe aTitleist something.
I have most of the Wilson Dynapower range of clubs: driver, 3W and 7W, 3H, and the forged irons. I'm not a good enough player to justify it, but those clubs (and the ones in this video) are so close in performance that I couldn't see myself spending so much more for the "Name Brand" clubs.
I bought the cobra darkspeed one month after its release this year with the max head standard stiff shaft and 1” shorter shaft and when struck well it’s a fairway finder goes arrow straight and love the look of it all stealthed out and sounds amazing to
I have the irons and I really like them also. The Driver I may have to look into this fall or next spring when the sales are on. Did you like the driver from whatever you previously used ?
@@vroomgc so far it’s okay. I’m not very good with the driver at the moment, I’m still learning. So it’s difficult to compare. I’m still using a hybrid or 5 iron off the tee.
The cobra looks slightly toed in for draw bias ,or maybe it’s just how it appears on the video ,the srixon certainly looks more neutral. Nothings really changed in the driver market regarding tech ,just crazy prices ,compared to other brands these seem like a bargain.
For all of us that play the srixon zx5 mk2 are like … yeah we know they are an amazing driver .. I can it it on the toe or heel and it’s great .. the sound of it rocks Also I bought mine from Calloway used for 190 buck and it was almost perfect
I bought an almost new Vertical Groove Golf driver from eBay. It is now my most favorite driver I have ever hit. They will have a new club coming out soon.
Try the Eleven driver its only £200 with current discount, it incredibly forgiving and really long. It has a face from Krank, the manufacturers of Bryson driver, and build in Hereford UK
Recently switched from a Speedzone Xtreme to the Darkspeed x. I find more fairways with the Darkspeed x and have 12 to 15 yards on average. Very happy with the purchase. The X also is more pleasing behind the ball compared to the Max or my old SZ Xtreme.😊
I agree performance should be the ultimate reason but with prices of drivers now the retention value of clubs is a factor to consider. Getting one from the big 4 oems have a markedly higher resell value than the others
I played the Srixon zx5 mkii driver for 7 months, it really performed well my only gripes about it were 1 the paint quality on the bottom scratches way too easily, and 2 the crown is extremely thin one slightly skulled ball will dent it. I dont abuse my equipment, its just what i experienced, but the reall do excellent in the performance aspect.
Hi Alex can you review the pin hawk one length hybrid irons would be good to see a review by someone who can hit a ball like you are they a game changer or a gimmick. Looked on RUclips and no one has reviewed this club. Cheers for the great video keep up the great work. Cheers Harry
On a search or months and fighting terrible fitters/fittings I settled on the Zx5 with hzrdus smoke red. Wanted to like the offerings from taylormade, callaway and cobra. Cobra was not really a fitting offering where I am. So running Cleveland for pretty much the entire time I have been playing golf, I didnt want to keep a bias to a particular brand I still ended up back at the Launcher XL or Zx5. Luckly the Srixon drivers had gone on sale for $350 usd when I was ready to pull the trigger on a new driver. So long story short I have always had a slight cut across the ball with the driver and the Zx5 just goes straight instead of a fade. Between that and the consistsnt launch and over all stout feeling of shaft and club head i can confidently hit consistantly 270-280 drives over my old Cleveland altitude 588 that was going 250-260. It really is a over looked club and now going on sale is a way better deal then other brands.
Hi, My past several driver purchases have all been "pre-owned", i.e. used. The Srixon really looked good so I check it out at Golf Galaxy and a couple of other sites. The US price for the Srixon ZX5 Mk2 is $500! Maybe that's why it's not flying off the shelf.
Alex why don't you do this test over and include your Titleist driver. Also just turn the loft down on the cobra or try the X model. I've tried the X and it's very long and forgiving
Got fitted for ZX5 MKII LS in 8.5 with graphic design tour as vf6x and it blew my Titleist tsi3 8.5 with graphite design tour as ub6x out the door. Srixon drivers are so underrated
I don't think it sounds weird (personal bias as i own the zx5 ls) I think it just sounds different than the last 5 years because there is 0 carbon in the Srixon...it's all titanium.
@@ariesnc6320shaves off maybe 400rpm or so, nothing major. I get the same carry but definitely more roll. For me it’s just getting it to launch nicely…and then the LS technology kicks in
Alex yiu don’t play the cobra anymore. Just 2 pros play the dark speed. Do something isn’t right about it. I think the cobra dark speed are the best looking drivers of the year or maybe ever
Why is anybody buying these clubs? The Average Duffer could use a 10 yr old driver for $50 and get the exact same wild dispersion and lousy distance. The marketing hype nonsense on these clubs is unbelievable.
If you play as a hacker.. you are 100% correct but the more serious and better you become the better new technology will help. It's all trial and error with club preferences....
The question was in reference to people buying the "other" manufacturers clubs not as a general statement and trust me, hacker/beginner types are also buying new stuff too.
High MOI will give you tighter dispersion. That's not marketing hype, it's just science. You don't even need a new driver for that, there are plenty of models with over 8k and even close to 10k from like 10 years ago. But you're right that if you lose balls or go OB half the time off the tee, you're better off getting a lesson or just not hitting driver at all.
*I love this driver!!! I really do and it falls into that forgiving category*

Alex, I’ve been playing Srixon drivers for a while. I think both these brands have been underrated but they both make good performing equipment.

The single best thing i ever did to improve my golf game was to get a set of Cobra aro jet clubs! Unbelievable results for me.
Cobra build quality is up there with the bigger brands. Don’t forget most brands have their clubs made in Thailand or Taiwan.

How much better is the Darkspeed v's LTD X? Kinda like the LTDX! Is it Worth upgrading to the darkspeed?
I have the same question. I have the LTD X as well
@gordonmckay914 great set of woods.. I got the 7w...had build issues they gave me the Aerojet as compensation and it's same but better
@Dartanian1959
Good to know. I have seen u tubers give mixed reviews on the Aerojets. Good to hear from someone that uses them
Hi Alex what is the name of the launch monitor u are using?
Hideki Matsuyama is probably the biggest Srixon ambassador
I have darkspeed ls with ventus black regularly 280 some 300 plus and I'm 64 , I'm consistently 30 to 50 past the boys , priceless
Wow, I am 59, have a Callaway Epic, and hit 40 short of my buddies. Need to try one. How much in addition was the shaft upgrade?
@@rickwilliams3515 it's the ventus non velocore, so 100.00 the stock shaft was good but I went to Xtra stiff
Don't forget the Cleveland Launcher XL2 Driver,,, same tech as the Srixon but cheaper...
You should hit the regular dark speed driver, lower launch and way more distance.
True but he was talking about 'forgiving' cheaper drivers
Had a shot of zx7 driver last yr.. wasnt a fan tbh 😢.. have an AI smoke max and really like it..
Should try ZX5 MKII buddy
Good stuff. 👍
Same bracket but cheaper again is the Wilson Dynapower Titanium, brand snobbery is real!!!
Srixon should be releasing a new driver in the next 4 months. If you’re willing to wait this current driver will drop another 30% in price
In Canada, at least Toronto... all the drivers mentioned are all the same price. Only cheaper when you go second hand.
Actually the TM and Callaway he mentioned are both 100 to 150 dollars more at golftown right now as compared to the 2 drivers he tested
