What Is The Best Mini Driver On The Market?? TaylorMade Vs Callaway Head-To-Head

  • Who has the best mini driver on the market? In this video, I put the TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver Copper head to head against the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Ti 340 Mini Golf Driver to see which is the best mini driver you can buy.
I will be testing these off the tee and also off the deck with TrackMan data to see which is longest, most forgiving and perhaps most importantly most versatile.
Which of these would you pick to put in play? Let me know in the comments...

Recently purchased the TM BRNR copper Mini Driver it’s probably the best club I’ve ever bought I got the 11.5 dg positioned the heavy weight forward and 💣 away 275 yrd carry on average it’s so easy to hit, and it feels incredible, this thing is a weapon

Bought a Callaway. It’s been unreal. Touch shorter than the driver, but ends up in the better position on the fairway.
Over all very pleased with it off the tee.
Off the deck, less than ideal

Great review. I doubt most players will bag this and their driver at the same time during a round. So it really is a driver replacement and there is no shame with that if your driver is causing nightmares or making you want to quit the game. Glad these options are gaining in popularity.

Good info as always. I bought the TM mini (BRNR) last year in 13.5 degrees and have only one bad round with it since, which was definitely operator error. The BRNR doesn't go quite as far as my normal driver, though a low spinning toey one will definitely get out there. However it's much more dependably accurate and I like being in the fairway for my second shot. The BRNR has some utility too as I can tee it up a bit to hit a draw shape or down nearer the ground for more of a fade, and it's not the hardest thing in the world to hit off the deck either. Gapping-wise it goes about 15-20 yards further than my standard 3 wood -in my case is a 16.5 degree high launch TM stealth, that is basically a 4 wood.

Surprising how long they are off the tee. If you're an average weekend warrior, a driver cut down and swing weighted heavy will likely be much easier to hit but these are very fancy tech.

A really interesting test. Both clubs are due out here in Australia this month. I’ve requested the Taylor made 13.5 loft to be held for me to test when it arrives on the 15th. I really want a replacement club for my 3 wood which I took out of my bag months ago. I like the idea of a bigger club face and really want a club for the tee more than the fairway. I must say though I’m very impressed with how well Hannah hit it off the deck! Knowing me the testing won’t last long and I’ll get it to experiment with for fun. Great video Hannah ⛳️

Great consistent swings. The Callaway went a little higher off the tee and spun a little more, so consequently ran out less than the TM, which had the reverse launch data. The performance of the Callaway with the big head off the ground was surprising; I had expected it to me solely a tee club but you seemed to get the ball up easily enough. The TM, which I expected to do better off the deck, performed well.
I would love to try out both side by side and see what they do for my swing, but I can say that I do hit my 3W fairly well, so I don't expect I'd use the club I chose off the ground much at all. That said, your comparison showed that my performance expectations were not warranted.

Reflecting on some comments below, what's missing (from most other reviews, which your "zig-zag" anecdote leads to) are not only numbers for a single shot but combined double shots, eg. mini off tee onto fairway + mini off deck versus dvr into rough + 5H out of it.

I've gamed a TM mini since the first one (the SLDR) in 2013. I've played three other iterations, including the BRNR (which I game now). I haven't played a 3-wood since. The mini is a fairway finder and easy to hit off the deck. It's longer than a 3-wood, both from a tee and off the deck.
Hannah is (perhaps) getting too much spin off the deck.

There isn't much to think about with where this fits into your bag. Either you can hit a driver consistently ot you can't. If you can't then try one of these and see if your numbers improve. If so, replace your driver. If you already hit your driver well then the only other option for this would be as a long fairway wood. But can you already hit a 13 degree fairway consistently well? If not then forget trying these they won't help. Geez, folks, quit pretending there are thousands of possibilities for these clubs. They are limited in production numbers because they won't work for most people. But for those who need one they're perfect.

Have the BRNR 13.5 and a SIM 11.5 and see very little difference in distance but the BRNR has better dispersion and better for links golf, or if having an off day with the SIM. I have a 9 degree AiSmoke Max driver, so easy to hit, also play a 16.5 degree 3 wood, great of the deck or tee, my distance difference is 30 yards off the tee, so suits me. Can i justify a club out of my bag to sit in the middle? After all i could always strengthen my 3 wood, maybe 15 degrees. I also have a 7 wood, 2 and 5 hybrid Ansell have gapped my bag. All in all, not sure a 2 wood is needed? It looks like you have the same problem, as your 3 wood is longer off the deck, perhaps strengthen your 3 wood as a backup off the tee?
