Nah, Scholar's Mate requires your opponent to have enough brain cells to know that you shouldn't blindly attack enemy pieces at every opportunity. If you go queen first, 200 elo will definitely attack it, if you go bishop first, there's a chance they'll attack the bishop with a pawn, and if they don't then you still have to put your queen out there and get a 50/50 chance whether they attack with the knight (giving you checkmate) or with the pawn (blocking the attack). Though I suppose you could move your queen to f3 and try again, in the latter case. I suspect this is also why it's called Scholar's Mate, by the way. It's the quickest mate that's designed to work against opponents who aren't completely braindead, but instead are simply unaware of the attack and don't have the presence of mind to see it when it happens. Other quick mates tend to have rather more negative names, such as the Fool's Mate.

I actually guessed h4. I swear I did! I think eventually trying to guess the most impossible move, I was going to be right. I'm getting better at guessing when you say that. It may cost me 100-200 ELO, but hey, I'm getting better at what really matters!
I'm gonna pat myself on the back for being a 1000 and saw that final knight move leading to checkmate, without actually seeing that I would've been mated myself by back rank mate... Truly my genius is even ahead of me.
@@Martmists I would've blundered it as well, for some reason putting the knight there seemed right, and opened a faster route for mate, and it was protected, so my mind was satisfied with that placement, until Gotham said it would be the optimal choice to negate a mate in 1 for my opponent!! I was dumbfounded.
I'm a bit higher than 1200, and I made the exact same mistake you did. Was legit shocked when Levy showed that back rank mate, because I just hadn't seen it at all.
I love this first game because it literally looks like me playing chess casually during inside recesses because of bad weather in middle school... I knew no strats, just the movement abilities, and my undiagnosed ADHD kept losing interest to care about even one move ahead by the ten minute mark

I LOVE the first game! It's like... You just have fun moving the pieces, right? Love it. Long christmas holidays, all the different little wooden guys and queens and horses and towers. Happy days.
Watching these funny videos is very entertaining and also informative. One nugget I will keep from this video is to NOT play 2. Bc4 against the Sicilian. One increment of improvement at a time lol. You’re the best Levy!

17:51 I'm an 1100 in daily games and I definitely would've been mated. I had tunnel vision on the bishop sac because I was so focused on how can I finish this mate.
3:00 I’d actually say that for a 200, not taking is their best strategy. This is because a 200 is not going to understand pawn structure well enough to know when to take vs when not too. In general, you should take with purpose, when there is a reason to take, but for someone this low elo they probably wouldn’t see a reason to take, so don’t. It’s better than the other end of the spectrum where a player will take any piece they can get their hands on without a second thought
I've been kinda losing interest in this channel for a while, but this video was pretty chill and had good vibes. Hope to see more of this style commentary in the future
thank you once again for clarifying that this was a stockfish cheater, and not a chess boxing cheater (like the referee in Andreas game) Also much love from nz ❤
Constant cheating against a 300 is like taking all of the pieces on the board and throwing them at your opponent until they react You're never losing this on any planet what is wrong with you
4:40 You know you're very bad at the game when Lenny says: "you won't ever guess White's next move" when he's reviewing a 200 elo game and then you proceed to guess the move instantly
I'm cutting my finger nails while listening to this game in the background and i look up at 7:20 because i finished and levy's laughing and WHY THE HELL IS THE KING THE FURTHEST PIECE UP THE BOARD?!?!?!?!?!?

Levy, yesterday I woke up at 4am in Spain and I remembered that you said an event was upcoming. I immediately opened RUclips went on to the live that had 300k viewers. I couldn’t stop watching the live and the best parts were when you commentated, in the chess and boxing. Thanks for the amazing live and keeping me awake until 7am.
Bro are you a time traveller 😅😅
17:41 This callout saw through my soul.
The first game looks like its played by GM's
Levy whispering because the walls are thin and saying "its not great" means that he heard all of Amans rampant sexual antics in celebration of his TKO victory
💀💀💀
LEVVVYYYYY! Saw the Wired Chess Support video literally right after watching this congrats dude! I've been watching that series for a long time that exposure is incredible! You're doing an amazing job and just wanna thank you for curating my chess journey for about 2 years and 3-4000 games now
8:52 he's not cheating he just bought all of your guides on chessly and game reviewed for twelve hours
I actually guessed h4. I swear I did! I think eventually trying to guess the most impossible move, I was going to be right. I'm getting better at guessing when you say that. It may cost me 100-200 ELO, but hey, I'm getting better at what really matters!
Damn. I guessed Kh4.
Samee when hes on GTE he says the same thing and it's always some dumb A4/h4 idea
Me too bro xd
same felt great
I guessed h3, solely because every time Levy says "you'll never guess the next move," it's always a pawn move on the side of the board.
I'm gonna pat myself on the back for being a 1000 and saw that final knight move leading to checkmate, without actually seeing that I would've been mated myself by back rank mate...
Truly my genius is even ahead of me.
Unfortunately as a 1200 I'm embarrassed to say I would've blundered mate in 1
@@Martmists I would've blundered it as well, for some reason putting the knight there seemed right, and opened a faster route for mate, and it was protected, so my mind was satisfied with that placement, until Gotham said it would be the optimal choice to negate a mate in 1 for my opponent!! I was dumbfounded.

@@Martmists Unfortunately as a 2150 im embarrassed to say I would've blundered mate in 1
I'm a bit higher than 1200, and I made the exact same mistake you did. Was legit shocked when Levy showed that back rank mate, because I just hadn't seen it at all.
Can you imagine yelling "Bishop C4!" They'll will think you're asking someone with last name Bishop to hand you the C4.

Levy, paracetamol is just the name of the chemical in Tylenol lol
Paracetamol is just Tylenol. Literally.
2:44 "so far so bad." 😂
"When did you become a Chess Grandmaster?"
"Last night"
I love this first game because it literally looks like me playing chess casually during inside recesses because of bad weather in middle school... I knew no strats, just the movement abilities, and my undiagnosed ADHD kept losing interest to care about even one move ahead by the ten minute mark
200 Elo! That’s like blundering your queen 5 moves in level bad.
You can tell Levy is a chess nerd, not a chemistry nerd, because he felt like he could fly while on Tylenol (the US brand name for acetaminophen, which is the exact same as paracetamol...)
I laughed at that too. It's just the name for Tylenol outside of the US. 😂
@@LoyalSol yeah because USians know things by brand names not actual names
I especially hate it when people cheat at such a low Elo. It can be very demotivating for new players to get beat so mercilessly
Yeah tbh I feel bad about doing that
I love hearing him start of quiet and very slowely raising his talking voice and is just full on near yelling like normal 🤣
Pretty soon he'll be asking what's the use of a communications officer who can't communicate. Is that you, Maitland?
Here I am figuring out that 200 ELO even exists

I don’t even know how to cheat in chess 😅
Levy “ Queen to e 8” made me laugh so hard😂
Is anyone gonna tell him that paracetemol is the British generic name for Tylenol?
I like how you just don't castle when you're 200
So miracles do happen. From 8% accuracy to 96% accuracy in a day. Glory to God.
levy talking about paracetamol like it's some wonder drug when i've always known it just as *generic-feel-less-rubbish* medicine gives me life
I feel like getting 8% accuracy is definitely not an “it happens” moment lol
Oh my god i blundered mate in one
This is great content, shows a whole different perspective on the many levels of chess
i had a 84% game the other day and I did make a huge blunder and lost my queen while I was on a constant conquest taking piece after piece
Paracetamol is just acetaminophen (Tylenol). Must have been one hell of a dose to make you feel like you were flying
placebo effect or it was in a mixed preparation with an opiate. paracetamol on its own doesn't do diddly squat, except destroy the liver in high doses
Paracetamol? I think Americans call that tylenol. It's not gonna knock you down. You'll be lucky if it takes the edge off of a headache
I never thought i’d laugh so hard in a chess video, until 17:12 happened
I love how Gotham knows us noobs so well, I would totally blunder that back rank mate.

I totally guessed the unguessable move haha. It's not that hard when he implies it's the dumbest move on the board
We need more content like tricking two cheaters play each other which u did ages ago.
yes!
'I've recorded videos in hotel rooms before.'- Hmm, Interesting.
thank you once again for clarifying that this was a stockfish cheater, and not a chess boxing cheater (like the referee in Andreas game) Also much love from nz ❤
Constant cheating against a 300 is like taking all of the pieces on the board and throwing them at your opponent until they react
You're never losing this on any planet what is wrong with you

Lmao , " One of the games looks like you had 104 fever and you popped a Motrin.!" I laughed out loud in real life that was so funny. Rewind worthy.
4:40 You know you're very bad at the game when Lenny says: "you won't ever guess White's next move" when he's reviewing a 200 elo game and then you proceed to guess the move instantly
The phrase "... because that's what noobs do" always kills me.
the fact that i genuinely thought sacrificing the bishop was the best move snaps me back to reality
In these cases Stockfish should just put a computer instead of a human against players that go from 9 rating to 97 rating in span of a game or two.

Paracetamol knocks Levy's fever down.
Doesn't realize it's Tylenol.

That poor eval bar in the first game has got to be out of breath by the end of the game
As an 800, I have accidentally stumbled into both ends of the percentage range
Paracetamol is just Tylenol. Children take it - it shouldn't have any psycho-active effects at all.
I predicted the final knight move but didn't even see the checkmate risk of playing anything else
