If you’re losing about half the games you play that means you’re being matched up against people at basically your skill level, which is what is supposed to happen
True, sometimes im like how have I only won like 49% of my games out of 6000, then it's like oh, that means it's a very balanced matchmaking system, and that's good.
I think I like watching these type of videos (normally higher elo ones) because they help add to my mental library of information on which moves are bad and which are good. It somewhat elevates my general chess intuition.
Because you are matched up with guys suffering from an Elo tilt so basically, they are better than 700s, but they lost at 900s level so back to old school.
There's also different types of 700s. Some people are hard stuck, whereas some are simply pretty new and on their way up. I started last summer around that range and now I'm pushing for 1600. I wasn't below 1000 for very long though, maybe a month?
I feel this way too much. I rarely get out with anyone who plays the game _really_ badly, and colossal mistakes that swing the game from +5 to -5 (or vice versa) seem to almost never occur. And when they do occur, it's always me that does them.
Seriously i cheated once (when I was around 850) and i felt so bad afterwards I realised how much wrong it is, it did not improve my chess. Today I am frustrated and stuck at 1300, but still I am happy because I reached there myself.
7:42 I think can explain this move. I think black noticed the pawn is pinned so thought it is safe to move the queen. Unfortunately they forgot that queen stops pinning the pawn after it moves. Speaking from personal experience. Though I did not blunder my queen
I cheated when I first started playing chess at like 900 elo. Made no improvement and got banned. Literally accomplished nothing. Now I'm 1500 from actually playing with my own skill. Its so much more satisfying
Quite a few of us would actually play the last game with white similarly to the cheater. Why? The Nelson bot (now called Junior I think) plays this crap regularly with black, and in the aftermath of our Nelson games we can see the computer analysis and learn how to punish this setup.
The problem with cheating is that you can make it undetectable. There is no person or system from the outside who could determine for certain if several (and therefore not a whole line) moves were copied from an engine.
I miss his old videos in general. Before he started yapping to hit the 30 minute mark. It's clear he wants his videos to be played as background noise rather than smth to be watched intentionally. Genuinely kinda sad to see one my favorite chess youtubers drop his videos' quality for views but it is what it is
i agree he has started yapping a lot especially in the beginning and end im fine with the jokes etc and daily life updates but its the promotional content and unending talk abt chess board, book, courses, sponsors which annoy me the most and literally take up like 5 minutes every video
It's funny. I played somebody yesterday in a 2 game match. I beat them in the first game and then they offered a rematch and we played a second game. During the second game they accused me of cheating, said I was playing like a GM, and then proceeded to absolutely destroy me. They were immediately banned for cheating after the second game. When i checked game review, their opening and middlegame were both above 96% accuracy. I guess a lot of people just get mad about losing and then start cheating lmao.
Oh, man. Levy suggesting that some people would say "let me figure out why I lost this game" is such a baller move. I felt my heart start beating a little bit stronger from that sentiment alone.
Imagine being so bad at chess that you have to cheat to reach 800+... But honestly, as a 1900, watching two 700 or so rated players play chess...Well it gives me a headache.
Believe me when I say this These guys don't play like 700 at all I'm a 700 and when I review a game even my 600 have review ratings of 1200 to 1500 I'm pained at how people think 700s play
@uzomaamarachi1162 nah. I frequently see random sub1000 elo games for laughs, all hilariously bad. If you dont blunder pieces in one move, you can go above that slowly. There are cheaters and smurfs who play better, so dont expect to win all games.
1. Diligently researches how to correctly pronounce Magnus's name, showing high level of cultural sensitivity 2. Doesn't know whether Norwegians have Christmas
I feel like people miss out on the best feeling when they cheat... you know that moment when you just won a really hard game, where you though your ideas were very sharp and both you and your opponent played really really good chess so you go and collect your spoils by clicking on the review button and the eval bar looks like a wall street trader's heart monitor setup.
At low elo you should be losing half your games. Your competition is selected based on being your skill level. If you win more than half, your elo will go up and you'll equalize to losing half the time, but your elo will be higher. If you win more than half then you're playing only players less good than you. That's not possible for players under 1200.
Hi Levy, I first started playing chess in November 2023. As of now, my elo is 1500 exactly. Should I buy your course to push more? I am going to play my first tornament in college. Any tips, Please ♟️
Honestly I don't think people really need to buy courses before probably like 1700. I got to 1500 (from 500) in 4 months just by 2 books and watching RUclips videos. There are so many free resources on line for chess
Anyone else gets reminded that there is chess to play after seeing a new Levy upload? I just immediatly boot up a game before watching the video, and today it was two draws in a row from losing position. Nice.
I have been saying this entire time this is more common than you think. There are way more people who get severely upset and cheat at lower levels just because they don't think they'll ever get caught. It's annoying.
I once castled into checkmate in one. Best loss of my life.
nah I would have started cheating by now
Damn that hurts
Magnus carlsen?
I've had opponents castle into checkmate a few times, it does feel amazing
lol had an opponent do that recently. Castled queen side into a nasty m1. I didn’t even see it was mate just thought I was winning a pawn.
